Blackbrooks Garden Centre in Hastings

Stopped here for breakfast. There was a good choice between £5 to £10. Usual expensive goods on sale such as a loaf of bread for £3 or a garden pool table/game table for £2,500. Pleasant to look around. Toilets clean. Can buy cheaper elsewhere, but it is a well laid out shop which is good for gardening inspiration.

Stopped for a light lunch of soup and bread. Really hot carrot and coriander lenty of flavour and thick cut slice of bread. Good facilities and dog friendly area for eating.

I quite like Blackbrooks but I do wish the garden centre staff particularly would be less grumpy and unhelpful. Yesterday I asked for a small trolley to use but told these were only used in the foodhall not in the garden centre. I then saw three people using them in the garden centre. I couldn't fetch one far off at the entrance as I had a small child wiith me. The huge trolleys with no child seat, I couldn't use. So unhelpful. The staff member clearly just wanted me to shove off and to leave her pottering about.

I quite like the restaurant and foodhall at Blackbrookes but the staff in the garden centre are grumpy and unhelpful. They never smile or say hello even though we are regularly there. Yesterday I needed a small trolley but told they were not permissible in the garden centre. I then saw three being used in the garden centre. I couldn't walk all the way back to the entrance nor use the nearby big trolleys as I had a small child with me. The big trolleys don't have a child seat. Very unhelpful. I felt the woman staff member just wanted me to shove off so she could continue her pottering.

Great experience for food and gardening items

Went for Mother’s Day One of my favourite places to go - love the whole shopping experience but unfortunately I went for a Sunday lunch roast today - extremely disappointed- chose roast beef - £17.99 for roast - I was one of the 1st to order at 12 noon - dinner came - looked ok but was cold and the beef was overcooked and condensed s..t and the whole dinner was cold - will never go there for a roast again

Good Place to visit But I think a bit Pricey

Lovely garden centre, to visit so much to look at , the cafe was wonderful and the food was yummy, just the clocks were a little distracting as none of them work and all at different times

Technology has arrived at this garden centre restaurant. But not a success. Found a seat ordered meal tried to pay. Didn't work tried again,still not working. Go to order behind a long queue and find items we wanted to order not available. Return to table to enjoy the drink . Table so wobbly most of drink in saucer. Hopefully this is a teething issue, but avoid scan and order system like the plague

We had a coffee and a wander around blackbrooks today brought some bits. Prices are not too bad. Food looked very very good not bad price also very busy staff very helpful thank you

The deli platter in the restaurant is outstanding (we have platter for 1)..ham,warm bread,butter,chorizo, pork pie,chutney, horseradish, chesses(2/3).amazing value..employees are also an asset . Amanda and Polona in plant area are: Knowledgeable Friendly Helpful Thoroughly recommend this garden centre...manager is charming.

Popped in for tea and a scone, the tea was lovely but dear me the cheese scone. It was very doughy and I would like to know where the cheese was because it wasn't in the scone.

Me and my family went to this restaurant to have lunch for the 1st time. I have eaten here before but that was for breakfast. The breakfast was amazing especially the scrambled egg. But for lunch I had a cheese and baked bean jacket potato which was a large portion and very filling.

Lovely cafe, good menu collection. Great shopping for gifts, fresh produce, butcher, garden bits, shoes, clothing etc. A good 2-3hr stay.

Nice place. Nice atmosphere with a great restaurant. Only downside is that you may need to remortgage to eat there. Come on Blackbrooks play fair!

Coming out of Christmas, beginning to reorganise stock. Plenty of reductions on Christmas items, plus good range of gardening products. Lots of sheds to look at outside. Great coffee shop too

Great garden center, plenty of choices and reasonable prices. Helpful and friendly staff on hand to answer any questions that you may have. Well worth a visit.

Staff are very helpful and accommodating.

We had lunch here today even though the queue was long and the service was quite slow. When our food came it was well presented but not particularly warm. There was a nice atmosphere in the cafe calm and not too noisy but we did feel the cafe was quite expensive just for lunch and coffee.

May not be the cheapest- however they have a great cafe and lovely staff. The cafe also has a dog friendly area which Arty loves! Great doggy ice cream.

Back here again food good made a few purchases in the shop where they have a huge Xmas array of just about everything to do with xmas dazzling amount of stuff it'd always so busy here only comment I can make is very tight parkingspaces seem narrow also can be difficult to park due to vast numbers of people visiting shop but apart from that all good

Nice place for a browse. From gardening to footage to food counters.

Like going to the Sedlescombe Blackbrooks but every time we go we say never going back, find the staff on the tills rude and miserable. Bought a Christmas decoration which was the last one so when l got to tills l asked if there was a box for it she replied NO, then had to stand there for 10 min waiting for her to take the batteries out, then she had to find a member of staff to help her. Also says dog friendly, but you can't hold your dog going round has to be on the floor at all times !! I got told off for that one also you can only sit in a certain area of the cafe even though there are no signs where you can sit with a dog. Also find cafe staff not very friendly, find the staff at the Dicker store much more friendly but not as big as Sedlescombe store.

Extensive garden centre with popular cafe which has ample seating, including sofas and arms chairs. Free parking. Easy access just off the A21. Large shop with a good range of gifts, home items, gardening items, food & drink, fruit & veg. Extensive Christmas items, including artificial and real trees from late November onward (some items are good value but mostly quite expensive). Varous clothing brands available too.

Great place for plants and shopping. Plenty of parking in the overflow car parks too.

Not dog friendly. they shouldnt advertise as dog friendly if you are then followed round by a miserable bloke who tells you to wait outside with your dog. Been here many times and staff used to be great but they appear to have employed some proper miserys. wont be going back

Not really a fan of Garden Centres but Blackbrooks is one of best, it has had a bit of a revamp and measures are in place for Covid 19 so good marks for that!. Reasonably laid out store, easy access for the disabled, fairly easy to navigate, has quite a vast range of all sorts to purchase, pretty much something for everyone available here. Had a pleasant visit, got what I came for and a bit more besides. If you are into Garden Centres then Blackbrooks is a must!.😁👍 Update!! Now that COVID 19 has long gone!!. Blackbrooks has changed substantially since my last review and so has its popularity. The restaurant has vastly improved as has its menu and cake selection!!. Very nice indeed, especially if you pop in during weekdays. Weekends understandably are rammed so if you prefer it a bit quieter, then you know what to do!!. The menu is comprehensive and the prices are very reasonable. Plenty of comfy seating, especially the bench seats!!. The staff are friendly and helpful but they struggle to cope a little when it's very busy at the weekends. The shopping experience is pleasant, plentiful and quite laid back, the retail section is great especially for clothes and shoes, plenty of choice for Skechers etc. The garden and outdoor section is vast with a great selection of plants, tools, furniture, BBQs and equipment, wild bird food etc. Christmas is paid special attention with a huge section of decorations etc. My absolute favourite is Butchers Hook, goodness me the selection of meat and poultry is amazing and as far as their sausages are concerned..... absolutely delicious!!. Check out the website as they always have great offers and also in store. 1066 Hot tubs are excellent, I purchased a new hot tub a few years ago and it's absolutely amazing, very relaxing indeed!!. Especially great in winter on frosty nights!!!. The after sales service is excellent, the staff are very friendly and very helpful indeed, always professional. If you are thinking of a hot tub, then think 1066 Hot tubs at Blackbrooks Garden Centre at Sedlescombe East Sussex. That's it for now.

Blackbrooks is great and has really developed over the last decade or so. The food hall is amazing and really feels like a centre of excellence for some lovely treats .... especially on the butchery and cheese counters. Its not as expensive as I feared, but you don't go to their food hall for a bargain .... you go for a touch of luxury and quality

Fabulous selection of plants, flowers, trees, water features, furniture, tools, clothing, shows, oh and the cafe... Excellent. Ample free parking too.. and the Christmas season section is out and FABULOUS

Served raw egg in a quiche. Although it was replaced it was done with little customer care. No offer was made as compensation for what was a clear health and safety breach, only a couldn't care less attitude. Previously been good, but a disgrace this time.

Polona and Stephen keep the plants in amazingly good condition and are always there to provide advice of the highest standard..both delightful people. The deli platter is oudstanding in the restaurant(local ham,warm bread,butter,coronation chicken,pate,pork pie,chutney,brie,blue cheese,horseradish sauce,chorizo)We have it for 1(about £12)Staff are lovely,especially ladies clearing tables.

Lovely place to visit !! There is quite a bit of things to do such as buying garden items, shopping for clothes & having a lovely lunc/r snack. And don't forget to go the butchery department. They have the most delicious pieces of meat I have ever tasted 🍖 🥓 😍😍😍 I highly recommend it!! 🤩🤩

Garden centre with food hall and plants

Love going here, calm atmosphere and friendly service at the cafe from Eve who was constantly busy the whole time. Nice clothing, show selection and kitchen, stationary and food etc…

Don't expect it to be cheap but there is lots to see and buy including clothes plants sheds tools and of course plants food is good too

Well stocked garden centre with easy parking. I was considering buying some bedding plants and received lots of knowledgeable advice from a very approachable and helpful staff member, Geoff.

Went to Blackbrooks to day to have some food . I was unfortunately put off having food because of the blue bottle flys on the uncoved food . You can get ill from this especially if you are elderly unlikely to recamend eating hear to family and friends

Having eaten at the Seddlescombe Blackbrooks I expected a certain standard but found myself dissappointed in the food offered here. Ordered Cheese and Onion sandwich which should have been mature cheddar and it was sliced smoked cheese, fine if you don't mind smoked cheese! Three tiny pieces of onion on top. The bread was inedible- stale and dry., your shop bought loaf style. The chips were over cooked. £23 and we just walked away. The girl behind the till and serving was miserable to be honest and had no customer engagement or a smile. Made her aware as we were leaving, she didn't even offer a sorry just a 'speak to the manager or something along those lines.' Won't be back, will stick to the other garden centre.

Met up with family & friends for breakfast. Staff unsure about gluten free options. Don’t know difference between allergy or intolerance & stated all cooked together so no good if coeliac 🤯 All breakfasts came out at different times. Poached eggs all set. Gluten free toast arrived cold. When gluten free breakfast arrived wasn’t very warm. Certainly wouldn’t recommend if coeliac & won’t be going there again On a plus side staff very nice , restaurant nice & clean & very nice coffee

Visited the restaurant last week with my mum and nan after a few years away. Great selection of cakes, and loved the new coffee!! Will be back again soon.

Meg up with a friend for breakfast today, it wasn’t too busy, we ordered poached eggs on a muffin and scrambled eggs with two coffees, food was served in good time and was not and tasty, staff were friendly.

More like a department store there is so much there but lots of gardening equipment, furniture and plants too

Freshly prepared food..large portions. One sandwich more than enough for 2 of us. Queue off putting but staff very well organised and processed orders very quickly. We were pleased to be able to take our dog in and other dogs in there were quiet and completely under control

Got lost a few times, found layout confusing but shop well stocked and varied goods available but as is often the case these days nik naks and fancy trinkets have pushed the garden products and plants into second place

Not had any trouble before. We ordered a light breakfast which was fine. My hot oats was not put through to kitchen, so my husband had almost finished. When it did come it was solid. Very disappointed. We come down a lot . Still will😞

Love strolling round this garden centre always come out with more than I went for ! Great range off food and delicatessen has a marvelous range of Italian pastas and olives 🫒 😋 everything you need to entertain under one roof ! Oh and I love the fabulous range of colourful plant pots , I could not resist 😀

On this occasion we just went for food! It was good but the food seemed a tad expensive. (That comment needs tempering with the fact that I have recently joined the ranks of senior citizens and it was more expensive than I expected or remembered!)

Much more than just a garden centre!

Fantastic garden centre, a huge selection of garden articles, but also clothes and the restaurant.

Plenty of parking spaces. Good restaurant area with choice of food and drink. Interesting gift shops and good range of gardening plants and equipment. Outside of Hastings and great place to meet friends and relatives.

The garden centre has lots to choose from and all of the plants for sale are healthy.. One member of staff stands out above and beyond and that's Richard. Whilst we were waiting to pay he went and collected two cardboard boxes to put our plants in to protect our car and them whilst travelling home. Bravo Richard

Excellent service from the restaurant and garden centre thanks again

I have mobility issues and have great trouble walking. Went with a friend for a coffee. The shop is designed like IKEA and you have to walk around the whole shop to exit.

Went to the plant help desk. Asked about the house plants. Got told very sarcastically that I had walked right past them by one employee while another one stood behind her grinning like a Cheshire cat. When I went back to look for myself the same dynamic duo walked past laughing and asked if I had found what I was looking for before walking off. Worst customer service I have every experienced.

A great Garden Centre. Lots of local produce, great restaurant/cafe and everything the garden needs!

Wasted a journey here because there was no indication on their website that they were closed on Easter Sunday. I was not the only.one as other people turned round. Should at least update the website of opening times are different to normal.

Mainly use the cafe enroute. Very pleasant place with hood cakes as well as lunches. Lots of space.

Everything you want from a garden centre with good quality plants too. Just visited in March and choice of trees and shrubs was very good too.

Interesting place to look around as there are the usual garden centre products for garden and home, a shoe shop with good prices, a cafe, a butchers with good produce and obviously indoor and outdoor plants which are well looked after. It's very popular.

Great to have a walk around then have a cuppa and cake from the restaurant. Lots of things to see and buy.

All garden centres seem the same, plenty of everything to do with gardening, then there's the tat, plus Pavers shoes and Klass clothing. Resturant ok though.Nice Spicey carrot soup.

Always have a good breakfast first.Lots to see in all the different sections.got some primroses,watering can for indoor plants.
