Visited midweek so wasn’t too busy. Lovely waitress was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The cafe was a bit chilly and there was a very heavy fried oil smell. Our clothes required washing after the visit. Could benefit from better ventilation. I will definitely return.

The food is great. The young guy serving is really friendly and lovely, but this is the second time I’ve been in and he’s been on his own, trying to take orders, bring food out, serve people who want takeaway coffees, answer the phone, and make drinks so the service is super slow. Took ages to get our coffees. I work in a small cafe myself and we’d never dream of having just one front of house person at a time. Give the guy a break and rota 2 people on at least at all times and speed things up!

We decided to come to black sheep kitchen after driving past and seeing the nice decor outside/nice sign etc and checked out reviews on trip advisor. The food was amazing, I had veggie eggs benedict with halloumi and my partner had the big breakie. The food was delicious fresh and piping hot, we were really impressed and can’t wait to return. The lady serving us was really polite and nothing was too much. I would recommend this to all my friends!!

First time visit, very heavy rain so quiet and no problem with the service. Little play area for our toddler to entertain himself. Service staff were friendly and helpful. The food was cooked very nicely and tasted delicious.

Amazing little cafe! The food is absolutely amazing, I had eggs your way with a side of mushrooms! The mushrooms are delicious!!!! My friend had shrooms on toast! Compliments to the chef. The service was really good there was only one girl in, she seemed very nice, checked if mine and my friends food was ok and If myself or my friend needed anything to give her a shout! I’ve been a few times now and the only downfall is the banging you can hear from the flat above, but the 50s music covered it wonderfully ! Absolutely brilliant would highly highly recommend!!

Waited over an hour for breakfast. Once it arrived, the whole cafe had cleared! We found the waitress rude and slow. Had to ask for our tables to be cleaned, for a menu and to order. They had run out of a lot of ingredients and told us we “should have come earlier.” The music was loud dance songs, turned up unnecessarily loud at one point by the waitress. We also overheard them complaining about other customers saying they need to close up and be meaner, saying they couldn’t be served. I really loved this place when it first opened up but it seems to have gone down hill a lot in terms of poor service.

This place is absolutely fabulous when it comes to food. The food is fresh, tasty, local and beautifully prepared. The breakfast in particular is to die for. However, the service has really gone down this summer. You often have to wait 40-50 minutes to even just order which I think is ridiculous seeing how they really don't have that many tables and the place is quite small. Don't get me wrong, some of the staff are very attentive and will make you feel welcome, but some are not. I've reconsidered not returning due to rude staff and having to wait for so long to even order but to be honest, the food is just too good.

We’ve been to Black Sheep a handful of times before, and always enjoyed our meal, but today was disappointing. Our key issue was how long we had to wait, which was around a hour. We waited around 15 minutes to order, then another 45 minutes for our food to arrive. The serving staff apologised when they brought the food, but at no point beforehand did they explain or apologise. A simple ‘sorry for the delay’ and perhaps a complimentary coffee would have made a big difference. In addition to this, we were disappointed to be told they had ‘run out’ of pancakes, which seems odd, as the restaurant was not particularly busy and we were there fairly early on a Sunday morning. Finally, and perhaps being picky, the hollandaise sauce tasted very strongly of mustard, which somewhat spoiled the eggs Bennie. I’m sorry, but next time we’ll go elsewhere.

Went today and the food is truly lovely, fresh and tasty but the service just isn’t quite there yet. Had to ask twice for water and twice for a second coffee and they just didn’t bring it. Needs someone to concentrate on making the drinks and someone to concentrate on serving. It is such a shame because the food is lovely. Ridiculously noisy atmosphere with the kids play area, the milkshake blender going every few minutes, not a place for a relaxing weekend brunch but great if you’ve got small children.

We went for breakfast yesterday morning and the cafe is so welcoming and lovely and has a very family friendly atmosphere with a cute kids corner. The menu is pretty amazing and all the food was delicious - the only downfall was I ordered the Vegan breakfast and was given the Vegetarian one. When I tried to explain how I had the wrong breakfast the chef appeared to be very confused. I had ordered eggs with my meal as I'm lactose intolerant so tend to order Vegan food to avoid all risk of butter etc but wanted eggs too. The chef couldn't understand what the problem was but I had mushrooms cooked in butter on my plate (with juices going onto my other food) and Halloumi which is cheese. Eventually they sent me the parts of the vegan breakfast to make up for it - but I would just warn any allergy sufferers to be very clear with the staff there about what you can and can't eat! Otherwise - please please visit as it's delicious!!

The old mill on Redhill street is beautifully refurbished and Ancoats Coffee Co held such promise with glass doors , indoor and outdoor dining space, twinkling fairy lights I chose outside in the lovely Mancunian sunshine to enjoy my cake and fresh orange drink, unfortunately this is where things start to go down hill, firstly cash is not accepted in this establishment, plastic is king, my cake looked like an appealing Madeira on its plate, I think it would have given the lovely refurbished bricks a run for their money, hard is too soft a word but not as hard as the seating, I think I am well padded in the posterior but These chairs WOW they were made of a galvanised material so to be expected but couldn’t you have invested in something soft to sit on ! One visit is enough for me. Not a

Located just away from the northern Quarter on great ancoats Street this is a pub we have been using for decades and we always have a great time there. The place is full of history and it is worth a visit just to look at the ceiling alone believe it or not! This particular visit was on a sunny Thursday and the place was busy both inside and out but they still had loads of tables available. They have a fabulous range of drinks at reasonable prices and this is so varied there is definitely something for everyone. Another good thing was they always have loads of stuff on so you get served quickly and in a friendly manner. It was great to sit out in the Sun and enjoy a beer or two whilst watching the busy streets around you at the same time.

Nice relaxed space. Great cuts of steak, fresh and flavourful sauces, crisp hot fries, nice wine and cocktails. Brilliant gluten free options. And all very reasonably priced - steak, chips, sauce, and a glass of wine gave me change from £20! Well worth a casual lunch trip.
