Called this Sunday lunch time where we received a warm welcome. French onion soup and mushroom soup were excellent. The roast lamb was delicious, the carrots, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower, mash, roast potatoes and cabbage also tasted wonderful, as was the gravy. We could only manage one of those delicious apple pie and custards between us. A most hospitable establishment serving delicious value for money food, as usual we left being very content.

Amazing food, fantastic service, the owner Bryan is a genuinely great guy. Go go go there.

Absolutely AMAZING food, nothing is any trouble to the Black Pig staff. I have eaten in all the places in Bentham and here Many, Many times..... nothing comes anywhere near as close to the quality and service you get here. By far the best.

Really great service - helpful and attentive. The food is delicious. The French onion soup is out of this world. Prices are reasonable, lovely atmosphere, dog friendly. Lunch service takes over from breakfast service at around 11.45. Brian's place is just great and Bentham is lucky to have him and his staff.

Sampled the bistro on a Saturday evening and was very impressed. Great ingredients, beautifully cooked to order in a relaxed and friendly setting. Reasonably priced. Not to be missed if in the area. For once somewhere that is as good as the reviews (or better).

Beautifully styled and decorated small restaurant /Cafe offering a very good selection of beautiful home cooked food of the highest quality. The lunch menu specials are just amazing. Delicious choices, tough decision to choose which to have. Fantastic coffee. Staff are so welcoming and extremely efficient. Bentham is blessed to have such a fantastic eatery.

The 'Special breakfast' was the best option chosen in our group with the child who chose it declaring the eggs to be 'perfectly poached'. With tasty granary bread and a delicious hollandaise-type sauce. Five stars for this dish. The other options were standard cooked breakfast fare - but were perfectly well cooked and tasty. Staff friendly.

Excellent service and food. We had a table of six and none of us could fault any of our three courses. Incredibly tempting menu. So much so that my wife and me split our venison and pheasant. Both were superb. My son had breakfast here last week and love it.

There is a lovely informal atmosphere in the place. A very small scale operation but the food is top class. Some familiars on the menu but also some new experiences. The venison was the best that I have ever tasted.....very happy! !

We had a lovely breakfast, well cooked, service excellent. Just one problem was the social distancing was totally ignored. I can see the problem as the premises were so small but it cannot be a reason to ignore the rules.

We have been to The black pig for breakfast nearly every weekend for the last month or so and the breakfast is AMAZING!!! the staff are lovely, Brian is a fantastic host... and our daughter loves the striped teapot (hands off if you read this!)...

Called in with friends, wet and muddy recently. Nice warm welcome. Had a brisket and caramelized onion warm baguette with horse-radish sauce, a ham and mustard sandwich, a BLT and a prawn marie rose baguette. All very tasty and excellent value at about £3-£5 each....

Lovely breakfast, service and environment

Food is excellent with wide choice, staff are very helpful and polite. They are also dog friendly (in and outside) and have some outdoor seating. Alcohol is available as well as usual hot and cold drinks.

Called in for breakfast greeted by a pleasant young lady. Very tasty good produce. Big bonus for us is that it's dog friendly .

On the way to the IOM ferry, this was the perfect place to stop. We had the full English breakfast that was delicious and neither of us could fault it. There was a young man who was serving and a young lady in the kitchen...

Had a tapas meal here at a music quiz evening. The variety and quality of the food was exceptional. Vegetarians and gluten free were catered for to the same high standard as meat eaters which is often not the case. Would highly recommend the Black...

Nice small pub with some really nice food (chips are especially good). All meals were a good price e.g. £6.50 for pork, apple sauce baguette with chips.

Went on a friends recommendation 3 adult meals and drinks for less than £30... but quality and service was still good. Lunch menu is reasonable and dinners looked good, although limited menu (that's how you keep prices down on fresh food!) It was busy but we still found a table straight away and took about 20 mins from order to eating. Some searing outside if the weather is good, but I've often noticed that gets taken first when the weather is good. Overall would definitely visit again

We called in for lunch on a Tuesday and while the menu was limited, the food on offer was freshly prepared, delivered with a smile and very reasonably priced. A very enjoyable visit which we will definitely repeat.

I try and get to the Black Pig every Saturday for a couple of bacon sandwiches and a coffe whilst I wait, whilst we are doing the changeover in our holiday cottage. The service is always to a high standard and the food is always very good too. Brian runs a very tight ship, but this doesn’t stop him coming out of the kitchen and having a chat with his customers. All in all a great experience.

We visited on a cold January night, it was a lovely cosy atmosphere. The food was first class, rivals some of the best Manchester restaurants. I had duck pancakes and pheasant and both dishes were exceptional. We’ll be back.

Been staying near High Bentham for the past few years and just decided to try the Black Pig last night and was really surprised.

Food was good and service was nice. Was there during the weekday so not too many crowds. Five stars for being family friendly! We need more places to go with our screaming children lol!

I don't write many reviews on trip advisor but when a place really stands out, like the Black Pig did tonight, it is worth praising. We are a family of four and were looking for somewhere to eat on a Friday night, Although it was busy and we hadn't booked they were very accommodating and found us a table (booking highly recommended as it is only small). We shared a lovely starter and each had different mains which were all excellent in quality and obviously made with passion. With a lovely relaxed atmosphere and great service this place is a little gem and we will be back very soon.
