We have a holiday home at Far Grange, we first went to this pub before lock down when we first bought our holiday home, it was good but not the best around. We visited again on Friday 2nd June, the pub had been closed for quite awhile due to the landlord passing away, which is very sad, my sister had fish and chips and I had steak pie, the food was excellent the atmosphere was lovely, the staff are still finding there feet but lovely and helpful, we will definitely be back

We have a holiday home nearby and thought we would try out the reopened pub. We went for dinner and the whole experience was awful. Our food was cold and inedible which we explained to the 12 year old waitress who had no idea what to do. The manager from the bar then came over and apologised and offered us another meal. The next thing we knew the chef was hurling abuse at her and threatening her and then went outside and was screaming and shouting. She then came over to apologise and said she would get our food as quickly as she could but the kitchen was very busy. This was obviously to try and distract from the awful situation she had been put in. Twenty minutes later the food arrived and again it was awful and inedible. At this pint another woman turned up who looked like she had just got out of the shower and asked if everything was ok, she took our food away and when we went to pay we were not charged. The lack of professionalism from the chef was shocking and the way he spoke to the woman working behind the bar was dreadful. We won’t be going back.

Came yesterday for hubby's birthday. We have a caravan close buy and often come for drinks but decided to eat. We had already rang through our order so didn't have to wait long. We were seated in the dog friendly bar area, which was spacious and clean. Our waitress was very friendly and drinks arrived speedily. After a short while our food arrived. Just delicious 😋. Hubby had the steak, which was cooked perfectly and I had steak pie. Great tasting filling with lovely proper pastry and a little jug of gravy. My daughter had the kid's cheese burger, which was really impressive. 2 burgers, which my daughter said were as good as McDonald's 🙈😅. Stuart the owner is a character. We love him. Would def recommend.

Visited with the family, barmaid friendly. Ordered quickly as the kitchen was closing, big mistake as should have looked around first - flies and sticky tables. We all ordered paninis, after half an hour they came out, and were lukewarm and the rolls seemed uncooked - not toasted at all. Chips were half cooked. Daughter ordered a hot pork (warmed in the microwave) panini which was dry, it looked and smelt like dog food. I wish someone would have come to ask us how our food was at the time. Should have sent it back in hindsight.

I visited the Black Horse with my wife and friends for Christmas day lunch- the pub was about as festive as the local library, there was no Christmas music playing .The locals assumed silent stares as if aliens from Mars had just landed when we walked in. The landlord really played the role of Ebenezer Scrooge so well, but was he playing a role ?Still we were promised a lovely Christmas lunch and looked forward to a couple of special bottles of Prosecco ordered by our friends. We had the first drink on the landlord, very good of him, and had several more before getting ready for our lunch. Our lunch was booked for 1.30pm we started at 2.40pm. The prosecco arrived and I was suspicious when it had slightly more fizz than a bottle of water, screw topped, the flavour was slightly stronger than water, so I thought I'd check the brand out. This turned out to be one available at a local German supermarket at a budget price !! - still this wasn't going to ruin our day.The starter course came and the fish starter had to be believed to be seen. One tiny strip of a smoked mackerel, shrimps on lettuce that it was debatable were not defrosted , three prawns neither dressed or undressed, a quarter of a very small fish cake ana a cold calamari ring which my wife thought was a battered onion ring -totally tasteless- basically horrible. We had noticed that several dinners were coming out fully plated, in a mass mound on the plate. We had been told that tourines would be used, when queried with staff you could see the panic set in, they had decided to change it to plated, after a confab in the kitchen a lady came back and said we would get tourines. When the dinner arrived, the plates had slices of turkey which did look ok with a couple of the tiniest overcooked and cold pigs in blankets rolling round the rest of the plate - the tourines arrived and looked like a vegetable car crash, everything mixed together and thrown in. We persevered but Christmas spirit had completely gone by now, the meal was awful, even by bad carvery standards. The christmas pudding arrived and was in a white spirit sauce and not too bad considering our new found expectations , the best part so far. We then had to request a coffee, we didn't enquire whether mince pies etc were available and left it that. The only bonus was the cost of this meal was low and rightly so, though it was the worst Christmas day dinner we have ever had. I don't know what the problem was but presentation, quality and service was non existent - christmas had been murdered completely. Please don't make the same mistake we did.

We visited here after recently purchasing a lodge on a site nearby. Went for lunch and where the only two people (although it was a Thursday). The soup of the day to my extreme excitement was Broccoli and Stilton which I promptly ordered along with a side order of chips.Imagine my horror when the soup arrived and it was clearly a well known cup a soup and I was charged £6 for the privilege. When the waitress came to clear the plates she could see I hadn't eaten mine and I politely advised that the soup tasted, smelt and looked like a cup a soup. It was promptly removed from the bill.My husband ordered a burger and chips which at £12ish wasn't cheap. The burger was anemic, soggy bun and not salad. I don't think we'll be back unfortunately.

We called in on the off chance, around 1:30 on a Sunday, and we were lucky someone was just leaving a reserved table. It's a traditional kind of a pub, and as it was Sunday it was Sunday lunch or nowt, but, there was a good choice of lamb, beef, chicken etc. Monday is unsurprisingly curry night! We did have to wait a while for our meal, but clearly there was a bit of stress in the kitchen, with some Ramsay type language coming from the chef! I could only hear this because I was sat next to the kitchen door. The lamb and the beef were both good - I didn't get offered the mint sauce but no bother - there was a large helping of tasty gravy covering both meals. The servers were friendly and there was a constant stream on arrivals, so clearly the place is popular.

We a party of four adults booked a table for lunch at the Black Horse Atwick Driffield, well there was more than just four adults dining, the place was packed but not with human beings, in fact a better terminology would be overrun with hundreds of flies perched on chairs/tables window sills and on the cutlery god only knows what the kitchen was like, then the penny suddenly dropped we were the only ones in the restaurant but by this time we had ordered our food, we complained about the amount of flies the waitress said you are not the first and won’t be the last to complain, the food arrived three of us ordered meat pie and veg with chips 9 chips each and a small portion of frozen peas accompanied with a small portion of glue type over salted gravy, one thing for sure is the flies were not put off as much as we were because every time I tried to eat this food there would be flies on the table/plate/cutlery, the food was very poor quality and to pay the extortionate amount of £12.95p per person for pie and chips is just a complete joke. My colleague asked the waitress again why is there so many flies she tried to tell us it was with the harvesting that creates the flies, not strictly true these were house flies that can give you one of 65 diseases, we live and back on to farming fields close by and we don’t have this kind of infestation.

The carrots were very hard, the mash potatoes were cold, the meat was lovely, not much on plate, just 2 small bits of parsnip. And a couple of bits of cabbage, and a spoonful of peas that were cold. I have been a few times and usually better than this, at least they had the fire on, as it does get cold in there as they have no central heating,

This village pub is a wonderful asset with some fantastic staff. However, the landlord of this lovely pub has not got any idea with regard to customer service. He proactively ignores some customers who require serving. After observing this guy today, he is clearly enthusiastic to serve new customers, but reluctant to serve customers who he has clearly taken a dislike to, or who have dared to criticise him in any way, even if trying to be constructive. I witnessed customers asking for drinks but were blatantly ignored as he seemed unable to process the request - strange! I was also astonished to hear him say that the ‘locals’ were all “retards”. He said this as he walked across behind the bar in front of his, who I presume to be, his local customers!! I feel sorry for his staff, who are wonderful, as they will be inevitably be laid off as their boss drives custom away! The guy is a joke!!

Decided to give the Black Horse Inn a go. Big mistake. I am lactose intolerant and my friend is vegan. My other friend asked about why my vegan friend chooses to be vegan. He explained, not in any graphic detail, but two people who were not in our party eves dropped and got offended. He wasn’t speaking loudly. They were having a conversation, which is what people do when they get together and dine out. The eves droppers went up to the bar and complained to the bar tender. The bar tender went on a rant about vegans and being stranded on a desert island and “its life”...give me a break. The service we got from him was horrible to begin with.

We have had cause to eat out a great deal over the last few weeks so have visited quite a few places in the area but have found this to be the best for food which is well cooked, hot, tasty and plentiful as well as reasonably priced. The Landlord and staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

Landlord welcoming and put the fire on next to us. Couple next to us go each week and sang his praises. Not busy but end of season on the holiday parks.

We called in at lunch for a drink after setting up on site and to be honest we weren't impressed. There was a man sat at the bar with 3 young lads and every other word was a swear word. The young girl behind the bar didn't bat an eyelid, I couldn't wait to get out.

We have been visiting this pub for the last 3 years every weekend that we're at our caravan. 20 weeks of the year. New management and what a difference. No acknowledgement. Walks around looking as if he can't be bothered. Garden shocking! Cut the grass and get new umberellas!! So untidy. The grass itches your legs and looks a mess. Can't believe how quick this beautiful pub has gone down hill. Coming back to our van next week and hoping the outside has been tidied. Will take them 30 minutes, just the case of being bothered to move the tables to cut the grass and buy new brollies or just don't bother and throw the others , they're laid on the grass anyway as dangerous with the spikes. We can then cope with unfriendly management. Luckily the young staff are still friendly. Fingers crossed someone makes an effort.

Having a mobile home nearby have frequently visited and has been great until under new management. I suspect owner has never been in the pub trade before. No communication with customers, scruffy and untidy.

Stopped here for evening meal on last day of camping hol. Plenty of choice on the menu for all tastes. Atmosphere is cosy and has a traditional pub feel. Service was good and attentive especially towards our young children. The food was tasty and can especially recommend the bread and butter pudding. Very reasonably priced £50 for a family of four which included 2 courses (2kids meals) each and drinks. The only minus I have about this place was that there were a few dead bluebottles on the window sill which may be off putting to diners; This small attention to detail could prevent some negative reviews. However, it met our expectations of traditional pub dining experience and we all left full and satisfied customers. Would recommend :)

We decided to look for a place to eat before going to skirlington market and assumed there would be loads of little pubs along the way from Hornsea however there is not.

We were on holiday. Family of 7. Rang at 5pm, to be told no tables available until 7.45, which was no problem at a stretch, we thought it must be good to be so busy, excited at the thought of some good food.

We visited one Saturday evening. We arrived at 530pm and was told food wasn't served until 6 although we had our order taken at 545. Food was good value especially the 2 steaks for £15. Drinks reasonably priced and good surroundings. Would use again

Whilst on holiday at skipsea we went here and was disappointed that the chef was on a day off ( we were starving). Returned a couple days later and we ordered a hunters chicken, 2 beef diners, lasagna and 2 special mixed grills and it was lovely all meals came out together and hot. We even stopped for a pudding. Certainly a pub I would recommend if your in the area. Lovely staff lovely food and lovely locals

Had to find a staff member to show us to our table. Seating upholstery stained. Floor had crumbs and debris on it around our table and surrounding tables. Salt and pepper pots sticky and unclean. Portions small, peas were dry and tasteless, tartar sauce was served in a chipped dish. No one checked meal quality until we had finished eating. Staff rushed off their feet. Waited 30 minutes for desert.

first few times the super steps breakfast was really good. Friendly staff good prices. Within the last few days went again but although the breakfast was the same size the addition of a 6" piece of human hair on the plate was off putting to say the least. Not going again

Nipped in for a beer whilst out shopping in Beverly. It's a little difficult to find as it's on the next street back from the market. It's a bit like Dr Who's Tardis, looks small from the outside, but it's not, its massive inside. Lots of the usual spoons drinks on offer, plus lots of real ales on the bear festival menu. Toilets were of course, upstairs!

Lovely food, friendly staff and fantastic views! Everything was beautiful! The staff were very kind and helpful in accommodating my awkward food habits! Definitely recommend anything on the breakfast menu (especially the £6 sandwich and drink deal). We visited twice and tried the scones the second time. Very tasty!
