Absolutely amazing place! Coffee, tropical smoothie, white chocolate cranberry scone and zucchini bread all were amazing! You can buy tons of varieties of coffee. Decor is lovely too! Prices are reasonable too!

This best coffee I have had anywhere! I love being able to take home a pound of fresh roasted coffee as it really makes my morning routine enjoyable! As a small business owner myself I am always impressed with the work ethic and quality that is on display every time I visit.

Fabulous coffee! I first came here 13 years ago when I lived in Englewood & It impressed me then. I moved away & always hoped to get back here some day. First time back in the area & I was blown away. I had the Organic Sumatra brewed in a French press (French Press is the ultimate BEST way to brew coffee. I have been doing it that way for years). The coffee is perfect. Gary the owner is very gracious & a pleasure to converse with. He, Alyssa (hope I spelled your name correctly) & all of the staff are very accommodating & wonderful. Update: still our favorite coffee place years later Saw this place was highly rated. Ended up coming 2 days in a row. Iced coffee, regular dark roast and bagels were delicious. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Roast the beans while you wait. Great spot.

This is by far the best coffee shop in Venice and quite possibly the best one I have ever been to. Their beans are so good that I order them to my home in Wisconsin. We visit daily when we are in Venice and my wife plans trips solely based upon how long it’s been since the last time she has had her honey bee latte.

When we asked a local for a recommendation of where to get good coffee they recommended Black Gold and we were very happy to find this place! There was a bit of a line but that’s a good indication of how much other people find this place the best local option for coffee. The staff was genuinely happy and attentive which put a smile on our faces. The food is also delicious! They make the croissants in house.

My wife and I are visiting Venice and are always looking for a good coffee place. Sadly, I can’t recommend this one. I attempted to order two double shots over ice, to which I was told they do not do that for people. True, many say that this is a cheapskate way to get a latte or americano, I despise any water added and the ice dilutes it enough. Then I tried to order a simple iced red eye, which any cafe should be able to do. At this I was told that hot espresso added to iced coffee “shocks” it and ruins the flavor. I was a barista for 5 years at various roasters, and have never once heard this or experienced a negative flavor effect. Over all a very frustrating and confusing experience and I sadly won’t be visiting here again. Two stars since the cold brew was decent.

Fantastic location with modern interior, great atmosphere for work or for a date. The assortment of coffee is incredible and of the highest quality. Gary is an expert coffee roaster who loves what he does and wants his customers to experience the best coffee can offer.

If I could give this place a 6 star rating I would. I relocated my business to SWFL 2 years ago and found myself at Black Gold almost seven days a week. The staff is always amazing and product is absolutely top notch. Through Gary at Black Gold I was able to network and scale my business all while being fueled by delicious coffee and treats! Gary and staff have become personal friends! Black Gold is the best in town!!

This has been my go-to for the past few months working in Venice. Service is stellar, always bright and cheery even at 7a when they open - Alyssa is a hospitality guru making everyone feel welcomed like regulars. Bagels and croissants are tasty, coffee options are endless and high quality with some unique beans for purchase. I’m a traditional macchiato drinker and they’re hard to find outside of Europe (that are any good) - black gold delivers! Update 2/5/25 - whenever I’m done from Tampa I still swing by to grab beans, a full pound and great prices for amazing quality!

We loved the fresh coffee and the atmosphere. We received such an education on the coffee beans and bought two bags. I wish we lived closer so we could stop in on a regular basis.

I made the mistake of going here on my last holiday day.... by far the best coffee of my whole trip.... and there were quite a few I wish I had gone there far earlier! On top of that the price was far lower than other competitors. To top it off the service was great so I will definitely be returning when I head back to Venice.

As an unabashed "coffee snob", I take my bean juice seriously and have roasted my own green coffee beans for the past 5 years-ish. Tragically, I failed to monitor my "green" back-stock, ran out and learned this morning that my order wouldn't arrive until next week 😱. In a panic I searched local roasters, found this place, bought some Ethiopian whole bean (roasted 1 day earlier) and got my espresso fix by 7:30am. It was delicious. Validation for me after dumping Starbucks years ago that FRESH ROAST MATTERS. Thank you BGCR for being there when I needed the real deal. ~Peace and love~

Coffee was excellent, the food however breakfast specifically was sub par. I left feeling extremely let down by my bacon panini that had small chunks of ham??? Really bland, scrambled DRY eggs. Wish I had spent money at McDonalds rather than here. Disappointing…. Also serving people applesauce on the side is just plain wrong.

Local coffee roaster with beans from around the world, he's even beaten Starbucks to a few growers. Pastries and sandwiches are served here as well. Highly recommend the blue/blackberry cobbler muffin. :) Excellent service & place to meet up with a friend or two. 2pm close is a bummer somedays.

I had no idea this place was like this on the inside. The best part is the prices! Somehow they manage to keep their prices FAIR, and not expensive like star-sucks! Wow, this will be my new coffee shop.

Fantastic coffee with a large selection. The tropical smoothie is worth a try, as is the different types of coffee. Scones, muffins, and cookies are equally as good.

The best place to get coffee at and the pumpkin bread is to die for and the owners are great as well.

Good coffee. Also sell their beans. My issue has to do with the hours. Seems like they close at 2 pm. But, their kitchen, so food, closes at 1:30. Unfortunately that seldom matches up with my schedule.

Today, I met a friend who was having breakfast and coffee at Black and Gold. I stopped in to see her. The young lady who I believe is the daughter of the owner came over and asked me what she can get for me. I said nothing today. She proceed to say we have coffee, tea and I said not today and I don’t drink coffee. She informed me it cost them money to run the air conditioning and this time I could stay but not again without buying something. I was shocked I was not taking up space she needed. She had several customers to wait on. plenty of empty tables and coffee bar seats. I visit black and gold often with friends and family. I would never go back again. My friend apologized to me and she said I can’t believe how rude she was.My friend apologized to me being she asked me to stop by. My husband visits black and gold often. When I told him what happened he said he’d buy his coffee someplace else as well.

Grabbed a coffee here before sitting on the beach for a relaxing start to my day. Customer service was fantastic! I requested cherry flavor in my coffee and couldn't even tell it was added. Really wanted to taste it in my coffee.

I’ve traveled the east coast sampling some of the best coffee shops each state has to offer. Black Gold is the best.

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Florida when I suddenly lost control. I was on my way to the Venice Golf store when the aroma of freshly roasted coffee filled the air, captivating my senses. I couldn't resist the temptation and was compelled to turn around and follow the scent to Black Gold Roasters. As I approached, I saw people sitting at sidewalk tables, smiling, chatting, and savoring their coffee. They seemed to understand what I was feeling, having gone through the same experience when they first discovered the coffee shop. When I stepped into the store, I couldn't help but notice the massive burlap bags filled with coffee beans and the enormous coffee roaster where they roast their coffee beans in-house. The owner and staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. I decided to order a double espresso and some chocolate-covered coffee beans, which would make a great gift. The coffee tasted absolutely delicious, and it brought back fond memories of my trip to Italy. Since then, I've visited Gold Coffee Roasters multiple times and no longer buy stale coffee from grocery stores. Give them a try!

Best coffee in Florida. The Hot Latte is brilliant and also the coffee of the day is excellent. The owner knows how to accentuate the art and craft of coffee roasting.

If you want an absolute PERFECT Lox bagel then there’s no place else that can craft one like this place! Salmon, capers, fresh dill, red onion & cream cheese on a Asiago Bagel!!! The only place that cab make a cappuccino properly too! 10/10

DO NOT TIP WITH A CREDIT CARD! Gary (the owner) is a good example of how to be a terrible person. He is a classic narcissist with anger management problems. He yells at staff and customers for tiny issues that would be negligible except for his pattern of insolent attitude toward those near him. Most of the 1-star reviews are related to his behavior and his girlfriend (the manager). Both of them have a history of emotional abuse to many people. I have personally witnessed him make an employee cry after they accidentally spilled a cup of coffee. I have interviewed former staff and they have several allegations of misconduct that deserve more attention. He is known for keeping all credit card tips for himself. I have asked him directly and he confirmed the tip money is not given to the employees. This egregious behavior exists as a method for indignation among the staff. Gary is a thief and a Scrooge. Leave this place and go to a better coffee shop.

Best Coffee Shop I've ever experienced! I take my family every time they're in town and ship them bags of coffee for gifts! If you're in Venice or Passing through I highly recommend!

Horrible customer service. My Bible group and I chose this location to meet every Thursday. We were not treated very kindly. The manager was rude and picky, complaining that we were putting 2 tables together on the corner left for more privacy. The second time this week, she complained that we could not close one of the blinds right in front of us where it was blinding to those facing the window. She also complained one of us could not bring her drink inside even though this person has allergies to coffee products. Not to mention, most of us ordered food and coffee. We felt so bad that we decided to go somewhere else. We took our business to Mon Ami café, where we were treated with respect and kindness and will be there weekly from now on. This business lost 7 weekly clients...

I'm not into fluff coffee in most instances ( starbucks,etc) but this place has outstanding coffee worth every penny of the price...I was drinking coffee since 4 yrs old,now 71so not impressed by novelty shops selling to amateurs. Their coffee is outstanding on every count. Well roasted,well bodied cup of coffee. If you need just one good cup of coffee a day,make it this one.

Always went there to get an egg And cheese croissant which was made on site at time of order so I didn't mind paying $6 for it. Went there today and was told they are short of staff and I was offered a egg spinach and feta cheese or ham and cheese instead that were premade. I was hungry so said fine then when I went to pay I was told the price went up to $9.99!!! I'll never go there again. Outrageous for a breakfast sandwich.

Very attentive staff who greeted everyone as they walked in. My iced coffee was strong and I hope to return soon to try their food items. They seemed really busy the afternoon I was stopped by.

Someone at the store helped him pick out the perfect beans for him to gift to me. I LOVED THEM! I truly appreciate complex flavor profiles, and the magical way good coffee can give you a unique experience from bean to bean, roast to roast, cup to cup. This place was exactly the place I needed to find!! They have so many unique, beautiful flavor profiles and roasts to choose from to match what you are looking for. I'm a litigation attorney who is frequently stressed/operating off of high volumes of coffee, and low quantities of sleep. Having a great cup of coffee incorporated into my daily morning routine, or as a treat/splurge in the afternoon, makes all the difference. I called back into the store today to pick out some new beans, and Alyssa was super kind and helpful in helping me pick out what to try next. We will be back again and again!!
