I come here to chill with a book, meet a friend or just catch up on social media. It's eco friendly with locally sourced ingredients and compostable cups. I think they should shout louder about this as it's a real selling point. There is a generous loyalty scheme on an app, shared with the Thai restaurant next door.

Had a fantastic traditional three course Sunday lunch. Food was great and Monika was exceptional at making us feel welcome. Well done to all the staff at Bisto 53 for making our family meal a pleasurable experience.

First visit here and as I am a frequent visitor of the Thai restaurant next door (who are the owners of Bistro 53) I was really looking forward to the food here! It was Friday and we were unfortunate to arrive just after a large party were in the middle of a placing their orders so we had quite a wait for our orders to be taken but weren't in a rush so we just waited our turn. Once ordered we received our drinks right away so we chilled and waited for our food to arrive. I was not disappointed with my choice of the thai noodles with chicken and a garlic and pepper sauce. It was delicious and my portion was huge! My Mum ordered the steak and it was cooked to perfection but she did say she would have liked a slightly larger portion of chips but we not disappointed with our meals. The menu is varied and reasonably priced and Monica and the team did a marvellous job of serving all the customers hot quality food. Even the proprietor, Dave made an appearance to assist! We will revisit and I can't wait to take my partner next time!

I want to give this place 5 stars. Food excellent, but I can cook excellent food at home. Atmosphere needs improving as you're a great new addition with great prices. The attention to detail regarding ambience let's this place down and actually jangles the nerves. 1. Fix the banging squeaky front door - it's *so* annoying. 2. The radio at full blast? Really? The incessant radio with intermittent talking and awful music really put me off returning, which is a shame as your food is good. Sunday morning-bit of cafe jazz or Ibiza chill? Anything but "building site radio". We wish you every success, but a few fixes needed.

Went for breakfast - a new phenomenon which sounds decadent but really worthwhile. Quality food at reasonable prices. May never buy bacon again!

My first visit here today and my first review on trip advisor, Says it all!!! From the minute we walked in we where greeted by a very friendly lady called Monika. We where offered the choice of any available table and made to feel welcome instantly. We visited at around 10.30am and decided on breakfast. I chose a large breakfast and my partner chose the avocado with poached eggs on sourdough toast. When ordering I was offered the choice of how I wanted my eggs cooking (several options for how you would like your eggs e.g. fried, flipped, sunny side and scrambled or poached). I decided on scrambled. I was also given a variety of bread options for the toast to go with my breakfast. I chose the sourdough and it was delicious. We both chose tea to go with our breakfast, this was served in a quirky teapot and cup set which was great, The tea itself was lovely. No cheap teabags here!! The food came out in a very reasonable amount of time, no waiting around for hours and not thrown out in seconds, you could tell that the food was being freshly cooked to order. The food itself was very fresh and fantastic quality, nothing greasy or over cooked, I could not find one thing wrong with anything on my plate, every item was prepared and cooked to perfection. We had plenty of tea too as we where each given an individual pot which was deceptively large, roughly 2 large cups full! The atmosphere in the bistro was great, very relaxed and peaceful, music was at a nice level and no loud clanking or chairs dragging around the floor. Over all it was such a nice visit and we both left very happy. The price of the food and drink was very reasonable £6.95 for a large breakfast with 2 rounds of toast and a pot of tea, you can not go wrong for that. We can not wait to return and will be doing so as soon as possible!!

I booked here for my 60th birthday party. 29/3/25. Dave and his staff, they couldn't do enough for me to ensure I had a great night, I had 2/3 guests who didn't drink, but the lady n gent on the bar, sorted them cups of tea. I wanted the pan of scouse, as a hot dish, as well as the buffet, which i did myself. The amount of people since then who've said the scouse was delicious, so congratulations to the chef who made it. As I've said nothing was too much trouble. Would I book again? Yes maybe when I'm 70, if I live that long. 🤣 Once again Thank you Lockdown. Xx

If you’re ever in York you simply have to check out Robinsons. From epic dishes to tasty morsels, frothy coffee to tea for two, nothing is too much trouble. I can honestly say you won’t find a more helpful and friendly guy that Will. He’s even helped me change my tyre when I had an unexpected flat recently. He’s a top guy and the bistro deserves its success. Please support them and enjoy their fabulous hospitality.

Met a friend here for a Friday afternoon glass of wine. There is a great outdoor seating area, plenty of parking and the service was great. The food looked really good so we will have to come back.
