We had breakfast here twice. Staff was attentive and friendly. Good Cappuccino and plenty of hot dishes to choose from. My favorite was the mushrooms and poached egg on toast, it was delicious.

Great location for a pre show meal at the Royal Albert Hall. Had the two course meal although the steak was quite small, my fish dish was not hot so had to be warmed but service very attentive, ambience lovely, and we enjoyed it. Pricey for drinks at £5 for a peppermint tea! Nevertheless it was 4 mins from the show, would recommend it!

We had a Prom concert at the Royal Albert Hall at 7:30 so needed somewhere we could dine early. I googled " trip advisor Restaurants near the Albert Hall) and this was on the list- I had not heard of it but apparently it reopened recently. There was a good recent review so we booked a table for 5:30, The pre-theatre menu is very reasonable at £30 for 2 courses and £35 with three choices of starter, ,main and dessert including vegetarian options. The salmon was delicious, served unusally with avocado and orange, One of us had the trout and the other the chicken, both very tasty, In addition we had lovely warm bread rolls , and in the end had two of these each, We decided not to have a dessert as we were a little short of time, and felt satisfactorily full. We did not have wine as all the glasses of wine are in double figures and although they were very good wines and orobably worth the price, the very reasonable 3 course meal of £35 , made a £12 glass of wine disproportionate by comparison. Maybe they could have an additional basic house red or white on offer, otherwise service waqs friendly and prompt, and the dining are attractive.

We went with friends for a meal before a Prom concert. They have a great fixed menu option, choice of three starters, three mains and desserts. Starters included excellent quality smoked salmon and beautifully presented heritage tomatoes with delicious fried courgette. For mains my friends had trout and I had a cheese and potato puff, original and very nice indeed. Great value at £30 for two courses. Really good wine list too - we had a delightful Provence Rose.

What was one of ‘the’ places to eat and be seen in the 90s is now merely a depressing hotel restaurant with lackluster cooking and sloppy service. Exorbitant pricing and zero atmosphere. Very elderly clientele. Staff look positively unhappy to even be there. The bar hasn’t changed since the 90s, which was the one saving grace. Such a shame as it used to be such a cool place to eat. Won’t be returning as it was such a letdown.

A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided to stop by the restaurant at the hotel before heading to the Royal Albert Hall. We arrived early for our reservation so we went to the bar across the restaurant for some pre-dinner drinks. The staff there was lovely, very attentive and the cocktails were superb. We thought we were in for a great night, but when we moved to the restaurant, it was a disaster. First we didn't got our drinks served for ages, with the waiters not understanding or even being able to explain anything at all. On top of that, they were the total opposite from the bar staff, very rude and chatting with themselves instead of attending the tables, making not only us, but other clients irritated aswell. When the food finally arrived it was actually quite good, but we felt uncomfortable beacuse we felt rushed to finish and go, like they where desperate to finish the service. We tried to understand that maybe they were in a difficult situation or understaffed, so when my husband asked for the restaurant manager to explain the situation, he was very rude, not paying attention at all, like he didn't care. He brought us the check quickly and threw it on the table. It's a shame that we got that treatment. I remember going to this restaurants 3 or 4 years ago, and the services was extraordinary. I hope they can bring it back to what it was. For now I'll just get food at the cocktail back if I ever go back.

190 is such an institution, it's been a great restaurant for a long time, and I have no quibble with the food - but the restaurant was austere and so quiet that it makes it hard to have a convivial conversation over the table. I suppose you could get reasonable value here if you're teetotal, but heaven help you if you order drinks. Paying over £140 (including service) for two people for a glass of average champagne each, a glass of an average Spanish white each and two courses of unremarkable food each is simply not justified. The first clue was the increase in price for the fixed pre-theatre menu from £26 to £30 a head just because it was a Christmas menu and it all went down hill in value terms from there. The ambience and decor is nice enough and the staff are friendly enough, but basically this is a rip off aimed at fleecing unwary tourists and those going to a gig at the nearby Royal Albert Hall. Try one of the many restaurants not far away in South Kensington instead.

We chose this restaurant because of the Menus online looked great.. On arrival we were given a different, very limited menu. We were told it was the ‘Christmas menu’ and that it had been on the website for a few days. This wasn’t the case. I had looked at the website the day before and there was no mention of a ‘Christmas’ menu. There were pre-theatre and a la carte menus. There were only 3 starters and 3 mains to choose from on the menu we were given, and they weren’t very inspiring. We asked if the chef could do something different but we were told no. We didn’t have time to go elsewhere so we stayed. The portions were really small. The service was slack. Our glasses sat needing to be refilled often, the waiter was not observant and needed prompting by the more senior waiter. There was no atmosphere and I won’t be recommending this restaurant.

What an appalling place. We had to ask for a menu, and we picked from the pre-theatre classic french menu - my "onion tarte tatin" was "deconstructed" so it was a mass of salad, with some sliced red onion on a sheet of pastry - edible - but pretty poor. Then I had the slow cooked pork - which was just a sheet of fat underneath very non-crispy skin. Awful - I still shudder now. At £10 for a regular glass of rose wine - this was also expensive. The 2 course meal was £26 a head. I did complain and the manager agreed that the tarte was disappointing and she had spoken before to the chef (who clearly does not listen) - and she waived the cost of my meal - which was the only good thing about the place - still I would have rather paid and actually got some food!. Finally tables are very close together and the portions are pretty small. You have been warned.

The food was good although the portions were rather small. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. We were a party of 10 family members, celebrating my daughter's graduation. I had asked on the phone if we could order from both the set and a la carte menu, without pre-ordering. This was agreed. Yet, on the night, the head waiter was adamant that the a la carte menu was not available until 7pm (we were booked for 6pm). His manner was short, unpleasant and argumentative. He didn't seem interested in honouring the agreement I had had on the phone, or in helping us have a good experience in the restaurant. It spoiled the atmosphere for us a little bit. In the end, his colleague took our order that included a la carte dishes, so we weren't sure why the argument with the head waiter. All in all we enjoyed the meal though, the dishes were well cooked and could not be faulted.

Went for a pre-Proms dinner, and chose the pre-theatre menu. The spring salad, in late August, was disappointing, and under-seasoned. The Royal Windsor pork chop with Morteau sausage, soft mash potatoes and broccoli, lacked the sausage, with no apology or warning in advance of ordering. I then ordered the selection of British and French cheese as the dessert, and an extra glass of wine to accompany. After a fair time, and with no cheese delivered, I had to call for the bill as it was getting late (this was a pre-dinner menu after all), which charged for the cheese, so this had to be corrected. No apology for the lack of dessert, and the fact I paid for an extra glass of wine that was not cheap to accompany it. The service was friendly but they seemed a bit disorganised, despite there being only about 25 covers in the rather crowded and cramped room, and how difficult is it to stick some cheese and crackers on a plate?

The food was nowhere near one Michelin star standard and, apparently the starred chef only works there once or twice a month. A rather disappointing experience

Came here for pre-show drinks and snacks before a Royal Albert Hall gig nearby, lured by the connection to my no1 favourite band, The Rolling Stones. I managed to get the fireplace table with comfy chairs, which was good . Our cocktails were interesting, again...

Excellent haven for a pre-theatre dinner of amazing quality and value, before going to The royal Albert Hall, which is just a few steps away.

Pondered across this little beauty. Nice and cosy and reasonable for being in Kensington. Nice, friendly and cosy.
