Lovely French style cafe with a great ambience at a reasonable prices.

My family came over from Germany, I suggested Lotties, they were delighted and so was I. Fantastic Bistro hotel. Food was delicious, room excellent and very friendly staff. I will definitely recommend this hotel and certainly if more of my family come over to UK

And it’s “reassuringly consistent” still under the same ownership and still ….(previous review below) Great value, but please don't tell ALL your friends! It was busy today, as always. A good sign. Please maintain the high standards of food & service, as we will be back.......and their coffee, served with water is excellent. Still at pre inflation price! How does she do it…. Possibly the best value cup of coffee you could by in the whole of South West England, despite a modest price increase (at last) prices have been held for years £3.00 for a large cup of excellent coffee, served with style is very reasonable

I doubt there is a better way to enjoy a short trip to Frome than to stay at Bistro Lotte and not miss their excellent menu. Our room was absolutely lovely and comfortable, the staff very welcoming, and the dinner we had there was a highlight. The French-inspired menu offers a sophisticated and tasty spin on many crowd-pleasing classics, which we enjoyed in the beautiful decor of the restaurant. Bistro Lotte is also ideally situated if you plan on walking around Frome’s picturesque town centre during your stay.

We stayed over the Easter weekend as we were heading to the Flea market in Shepton Mallet on Easter Sunday. The rooms were spacious and comfortable ( my only feedback would be that it's time to change the pillows as they were not comfortable) We ate in the restaurant on Friday night and the food was delicious. The steak was especially excellent 😀 Breakfast was not included in the room rate but was a reasonable price and choice. I had the fruit plater and my husband had the continental and both were very good. We would definitely stay again

A lovely French bistro for lunch. A simple but varied menu serving many French classics including galettes and crepes. Food was lovely and service good. Would definitely recommend and revisit.

What can we say about this perfect little find in Frome. Arrived ahead of schedule so decided to have a cheeky little aperitif in Bar Lotte which is located two doors from the main restaurant area. House white Wine is totally recommended crisp dry. We arrived at Bistro Lotte to be greeted by really warm, friendly waitress and an incredibly romantic ambience within the whole restaurant. I think the name of our charming waitress was Lily Marriott apologies if I’ve got your name wrong but thank you for your service last night we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. to start we had the Aranchini butternut squash and sage for myself and the Panko coated fishcakes which were divine for John. For our main courses, I had the Steak and Frites which were delicious and Jon had the Chicken Breast in Proscuitto which he thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks again for making us so welcome. Will be back.

Not only was it a pleasant overnight stay at the bistro the whole ambience was superb. The restaurant food was excellent as was the choice of wines reasonably priced. French style and I had steak which was best iv had for a while. Staff were attentive and friendly. Met the owner in morning and congratulated her on the place.

Regardless of the restaurant being fully booked for Mother’s Day the service was attentive and friendly. The food was delivered quickly and was delicious. There was no pressure to vacate the table when we finished. I thoroughly recommend Bistro Lotte for a relaxed lunch in relaxed surroundings. Great food and service.

Highly recommend. We have been here twice for dinner and the food was delicious both times. There is lots of choice on the menu, good portion sizes, good atmosphere and friendly staff. The bar a few doors up is also the same ownership and the cocktails are incredible for a pre/post-dinner drink. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

Great staff and fabulous food at a really good price. We had steak which was as tender as could be. There were loads of chips which were perfectly cooked. Even the dressing on the salad was tasty. Definitely go again

We come here often. The food is excellent, nice selection of wine and other drinks, service is great, decor and atmosphere are great. Nothing is too much trouble.

The food is simply exquisite. How this restaurant doesn't have a Michellin Star is absolutely bewildering. We always choose BL for special occasions, and we will continue to do so as long as the standards are upheld. Given the last 5 years of consistent excellence, I can't see why they wouldn't.

Only called in for a coffee yet service from staff was disinterested and it took over 10minutes to get the coffee. Heaven knows how long food takes to arrive! When the latte arrived it was “burnt” and bitter with far too much froth. We certainly will not visit this place again!

Great atmosphere and probably the best steak I've eaten out in years!

We visited for a dinner for 2 on a Saturday night. The venue was packed with a buzzing atmosphere, we sat on a small table upstairs. It had been recommended by many but unfortunately there were some problems. The service was not that friendly or welcoming, more direct and short. Our food came out in good time, but our sides came 10 mins later which were very limited considering it was vegetables to accompany the main and when questioned to the server, we received a almost sarcastic and patronising response. The food was tasty, but the attitude of the staff spoilt the vibe for us. It appeared there were too many covers and the staff didn't have the time for a personable approach, or to support our concerns with our food. For the money spent, in this case a bit of a let down.

Visited here at the end of 2023 and what an amazing find! (We’re from Hertfordshire) The cheese soufflé to start with was delicious and the squash and sage arancini were full of flavour. We then had the steak frites and I had prawns with mine too- the steak was cooked to perfection and some of the best chips we’ve ever had. We are seriously considering the 2+ journey to eat here again!

We have been going to Bistro Lotte for few years now and have yet to have a bad meal and a complaint about the service. We went 20/01/2024 - food for 8 was excellent, came out on time and hot. Taste and quality was brilliant, service yet again was perfect. If you are looking for an experience which feels high end, but doesn't break the bank, and is value for money....here it is! Thank you team Bistro Lotte, will see you again soon :-)

Nine friends met for delicious dinner at a reasonable cost with quick, efficient and friendly service and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. All agreed that it was a rare treat to have no music which meant we could hear each other talk! Lovely ambience. Easy street parking on a Tuesday night, within just a few minutes walk.

I hadn’t read any reviews before eating here today and was quite surprised at some of the negative ones, as our experience was nothing but positive. We were originally just going to call in for a coffee, but as it was lunchtime and it looked like a nice place we decided to have lunch as well, and it was very good. I had a galette and my husband had the steak frites - all tasty, as were the deserts (lemon tart and a muffin). The service was good and the price very reasonable…quite why people get so offended by wine in boxes I don’t know, get over yourselves! :-) We’d definitely return.

Came here for food. Was empty when we arrived but soon filled up. We had the Xmas menu, of which we had the 2 course for £30. Food was very nice, although could have been slightly warmer. Would recommend you give it a try!

Lotte’s is always a guaranteed great experience - somewhere you can rely on for a lovely time. The food is consistently delicious and the service always friendly. Great wine selection and a cosy, relaxed ambience. We wanted to make a booking fairly last minute for 6 people on the Saturday before New Year’s Eve, at a specific time, and they were kind enough to move around a few tables so that they could fit us in. Never disappoints for a delightful meal out!

Visited Frome from London for the weekend. Claims to be a bistro. Only 2 bottle options for red wine. Never seen anything like this in my life! The rest cardboard boxes dispensing “carafes” Complete joke. What a disgrace.

Excellent Bistro in Frome. Good menu

My partner and I visited Bistro Lotte for the first time tonight (19th Dec) as it is highly rated on Tripadvisor. The French 75 cocktail my partner had was nice, and service was fine from the staff considering it was a busy Christmas service. However the food… I opted for the scallop starter, which was rubbery and bland. My partner had the Brie which was cold in the middle and left nothing to be desired. We decided to give the benefit of the doubt and awaited our mains. The mains came out quickly we had both opted for the pork belly mainly for the dauphinoise potatoes. However, the mains arrived with mash rather than dauphinoise which was a shame considering we were not told about the change by any of the waiting staff. The pork was really fatty and chewy. The mash was incredibly salty and the honey roasted vegetables were mushy and not enjoyable at all. The sprout, chestnut and bacon fricasse was actually quite nice. There was no check back on our table to see how the food was. We both left around 2 thirds of our mains after tasting it all, making it obvious that the food was not good. We spoke to waiter when she cleared the table about the poor quality of food, and our disappointment about not having the right potatos. She insisted that the pork belly always comes with mash, and that we had read the menu wrong. As you can see from the picture of the menu (attached), it clearly says that all mains are served with dauphinois. We were offered a different main but we decided to visit Sainsbury’s on the way home instead. The mains were taken off our bill, but we’re still disappointed with the way that the situation was handled. We were really looking forward to this Christmas meal out, but have left Bistro Lotte very disappointed and will not be returning.

Good coffee . Varied menu and nice cake selection. Busy most times. Can be very quiet during the day.

I wouldn’t normally choose a French restaurant for good vegan options but I was with a group and it looked like there were some options on the website. Unfortunately it was only the Christmas menu on. It took a while to get an answer on what the vegan option was, it didn’t come as described and it was basically £23 for vegetables, no protein (they could have added some butter beans to the stew perhaps) and very average. Dessert was sorbet, rather unimaginative. Nice atmosphere but I wouldn’t recommend if you’re vegan.

We came to Frome for a short Christmas break, and were recommended Bistro Lotte as a place to eat. The food and service was excellent. The restaurant itself is very clean and their breakfast and lunch menu are really really good. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. We will be back.

It was just ok nothing to write home about but also nothing to really complain about, I had a steak was on the higher end of the price range (rump) but was cooked as I requested tasted ok, the chips and side salad were chips and a side salad they were not trying to re invent the wheel so to speak. Service was Prompt Friendly helpful. The entrance to the male toilets was interesting the chainmail replacement for a door is different ( there are doors on the cubicles) all in all it's not a place I would avoid but also not a place I would rush to go back to. Honest food nice staff pleasant experience.

Went here a few months ago. The food was very average and overly expensive for what it was, but the thing I really didn’t like is that one of the waitresses accidentally spilled a lot of Coca Cola all over me and my handbag, and did not apologise. Awkward. Won’t be returning.

We visited Bistro Lotte yesterday at 2:19pm, the waitress said “sorry we stop serving at 2pm” We were disappointed but, ok. We’re visiting from Miami and have heard great things about this restaurant so the the next morning I went on their website to book a table, it clearly states; Lunch hours 12pm - 2:30pm - nothing about last seating at 2;19pm. I did book a table and I’ll take my money elsewhere! Shame on you.

Awesome meal We were driving past looking for a carpark and smelt the delicious food.we walked in, looked at the menu, and stayed. I chose the sea bass with cognac sauce and samphire, which is absolutely gorgeous!!! I would definitely go back and try the steak and practically everything on the menu. I highly recommend the Bistro Lotte in Frome.

Outstanding food and service. Had the prosciutto chicken and a fantastic carafe of pinot noir. All was very tasty and we had a lovely evening here. Left my umbrella and it was still there to collect in the morning. Great place highly recommended.

Popped in here today for lunch, there were a lot of empty tables, was told they were very busy? and may be able to squeeze us on the end of another table, then a few minutes later another staff member showed us to one of the empty tables?. The food was very good, but the service was very poor, was as if we were an inconvenience to them, will not be returning, but I don't think they will be bothered anyway as they don't seem to reply to any reviews.

Updated Oct 2023. I've better choices here. Speaking to the owner when I order feels reassuring when I need to avoid some foods. Lovely, people, coffee and a space with a wonderful vibe. Friend's and I meet up here and really enjoy the food, coffee and a unique atmosphere.

I only stayed for one night and I did also eat there. The room was nice and fairly well set up with a nice selection of tea and coffee, they are environmentally conscious which is always nice to see. The only down side to my room, was because it was close to a main road and had the resteraunt downstairs, it was fairly noisy. Then for dinner I had Bread and butter to start, which was nice although it may have been nicer warm. For main I had the Steak Frites which was perfectly cooked to my liking of medium rare which is hard to get at a restaurant! The staff are very nice and always happy to help however they can 😊

Fantastic! A quaint bistro that's worth the walk just out of the centre. Lovely atmosphere with an extremely quaffable house wine. The buckwheat pancakes are delicious and cater for the many of us with a gluten or wheat intolerance. Fabulous specials board and service with a smile. What more could you ask for?

Lotte is always with a big smile, accommodating and more importantly the food is fantastic.

What a lovely place to eat, no wonder it’s so popular. We were lucky to get a table for an early evening meal. My lamb was cooked to perfection. My vegetarian wife (fussy vegetarian wife) had nothing but good things to say about her meal. Excellent service, polite staff I definitely want to eat there again. Sept 2023-Just enjoyed my second visit and it was absolutely lovely. Food was so nice and service was exemplary. The only criticism had to be the amount of sourdough with my starter. Think about it, that was my only complaint. Please never change.

We booked our table at Lotte's having been here on numerous occasions. Our last visit wasnt the best experience but as this was our wedding anniversary we decided to try it again. Unfortunately this experience was similar to the last, they didnt have a booking...

Food was lovely, staff left a lot to be desired. Table wasn't set when we got there despite us having booked. Took ages to take our order and serve the drinks. First two courses came relatively quickly and table was cleared quickly but nobody came to offer us a dessert menu. After sitting waiting for around an hour we asked for the bill then had to go up to the bar to pay as nobody came to us. I think they had overbooked - it seemed too busy for the staff to be able to look after the tables adequately.

We walked into a very busy restaurant just before 7pm on Saturday, the staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was fantastic. The restaurant transports you back to Paris in the early naughties and has a truly authentic, French feel. Service was excellent, the team were extremely friendly, efficient, on the ball and professional. My son made a couple of adjustments to his meals which were executed without fuss or delay. Special praise to Becky as she did a great job of looking after us all. The food was simply superb, all beautifully cooked and in my opinion excellent value , considering the quality of produce and portion size. We only live 10 minutes away but, we spent the whole journey home discussing how much we enjoyed ourselves and how we must return soon! Well done to the Bistrio Lottie team, your hard work, attention to good customer service and can do attitude has not gone unnoticed. If you are reading this review considering a visit, just pick up the phone and book a table,. You may however wish to book in advance, as it is probably the most popular restaurant in Frome and I for one can see why! PS Espresso martinis are superb.👍

Visited Bistro Lotte yesterday 02/08/23 with my family for my mums birthday. Very disappointed with the service we received from all staff members. They acted as if my children were pests, ignored them when they spoke to them for their main and dessert (also very expensive kids menu for what they get!), made large manoeuvre gestures when I was trying to rock my toddler to sleep in the pram (despite my best efforts to keep the motion to the minimum and stay out the way!) and one waitress slammed my chair in when I stood up to push my toddler to sleep! They acted as if the rain was lava and made a massive deal out of some water on the floor! Honestly we won’t be coming back here in a hurry - it’s overpriced anyway for their lunch menu and they didn’t make us feel welcome at all!

Food is nice but the staff are very rude! Have been a couple of times now, once there were 4 of us adult and most recently went with 5 adults and my sisters children. Both times found the staff to be rude, rushed and when we went with the children (even though they have a kids menu) they treated us very different to the other tables! Wouldn’t recommend as a nice atmosphere or place to eat, but the chefs are good with the food which is what has earned the 2* rating

It was my daughter birthday so looking forward to have lunch here but when we had our food it was not great I had crab wasn’t the best but better than the steak which my wife’s dad had it was so tough but he did not want to make a fuss to complain but my daughters child meal was very dry (chicken and bread crumbs) I did take this back and got a another one but by the time we got it we were all finished so dissatisfied with it
