Birmingham North Barons Court Hotel in Walsall

Remember turning up here last April, Checked in, took one look at the room and checked out. I did not feel safe here.

It's very clear that the management of this establishment have quite simply given up. The windows appear never to be cleaned. The hot and cold taps are unidentifiable due to the decals having fallen off. The toilet flush was broken and noisily refilled over approximately 10 minutes, and that was after I had changed rooms due to broken heating. The downstairs still has Christmas decorations up in late March, and the general dilapidation of the car park and exterior makes Shaun of the Dead look like the Downton Abbey.

Stayed for 1 night, honest review: Good: -staff seemed friendly enough when interacted -was clean -decent car park -en suite -good wi fi -had tea/coffee facilities Bad: - Worst nights sleep of my life!! thin walls, could hear people talking in other bedrooms, could hear doors closing and people walking around in the middle of the night in the hallway (Tue night), floorboards were creaking, went on all night. Didn’t feel totally safe or comfortable due to that. Was beyond knackered the next day! - No bar, asked for nearest pub, told where to go but no idea of names of pubs/restaurants or recommendations, just knew there were three pubs a drive away - Decor needs updating, outdated and wallpaper was hanging off by radiator - Pre paid for breakfast, told chef is off sick, got refund. No breakfast - Pics on booking.com aren’t up to date - No glasses in room - My Step Mum’s hotel hairdryer in her room broke Would I stay again? Absolutely not!! Pay a bit more & get a premier inn. Literally paid for the worst nights sleep of my life in a bit of a dive. Probably worse hotel I’ve ever stayed in

If I could give it less I would. The pictures of the exterior are very inaccurate to what is shown on their website. Not sure what room pictures they used but it certainly wasn't mine. The room was so dirty. There was holes and stains around the walls. The bathroom floor tiles are all cracked, though you could see some attempts had been made to repair them with silicone. I am still trying to get a refund. Most of the issue with getting a refund seems to be with Booking.com as they keep fobbing us off with lies.

Staff made it top class. Liked · So, not a 5 star hotel by any means - but it doesn't pretend to be. Facilities are basic and only breakfast offerd. HOWEVER - the staff - they are better than any other hotel I have stayed in - and I've stopped in a lot - including very high end. The staff make an effort to get to know you and all of a sudden they are like your family. No number of words can explain how brilliant they are - from the lady that makes breakfast in the morning, the house keeping staff, receptionists etc - absolutely each and every one of them are superstars. No amount of training could ever achieve what this team have - and I am convinced it is all because of their own efforts. I will ALWAYS only ever come back here if the need arises - WELL DONE TO ALL OF THEM>.........

It is okay. Great for a team of workers.

What the heck? What on earth has happened to this place? It looks like the creepiest abandoned place that there ever was. Have the owners never heard about gardeners?

Had a good stay there with very nice staff and a good breakfast

The local staff are super friendly, been here a month, almost feels like home now, will miss it.

Shame there's no evening food or a bar. But the staff are great and the rooms are very well kept.

Booked from a friend's recommendation and was very happy with my stay. Check-in was easy and treated by some nice staff. The rooms are massive and very nicely decorated, showers nice and warm with great pressure. Bed was very comfy, and everything was clean. Room was a bit hot with the windows open but they do provide a fan (Mine had some writing on it saying it belonged to Rachel and said not to move), but I am very glad someone had as it helped massively. For the price with breakfast and parking, you really can't beat it.

Can hear people in next room walls are thin .but it was clean bed was good had nice size TV with Netflix a fridge in room to keep my drinks cool .staff was nice

Disappointed is an understatement.

Ok …. Driving past this hotel ( I missed it the first time) it does look like it is boarded up and closed down, however, some parts of the hotel are undergoing a refurb which is needed to bring it up to date. Room large and fully functional and breakfast included in the price I paid so for the cost it’s very good value. The real gem here are the staff ! They truly do go the extra mile to ensure you are looked after. I’m at the hotel due to a bereavement and can honestly say I am blown away by their kindness …. The hotel will be fabulous once refurb complete and hard to beat … the staff are clearly very passionate about making a real difference and will make this place a hidden gem in the Midlands once the exterior is brought up to date….,

Massive carpark, the outside looks really worn down and unkept. It used to be a murcure hotel I arrived around 11.30pm due to hold up on the M6. No one on reception waited around 10 mins before someone came down The reception is on the side of the building which looks like it use to be a bar lots of clutter and a drawer marked up as refund notes doesn't really give me confidence in the hotel ! My room was up a few flights of stairs (305) The room was a good size as was the bathroom. Bed was comfortable enough pillows not so much Lots of stains on the walls which a good clean or repaint would soon resolve WiFi excellent Shower head didn't work and the bath was under a slope really bad design fault ! Breakfast not included Location is in a industrial area next to a canal Would probably use again but in a different room.
