Having tried Birley Sandwiches when they first opened years ago, and then frequently visited Hertford St I had high expectations. Sadly really disappointed and I would advise you not to go. Over priced for what it is. Savouries very sharp tomato flavours. Tasted like a good tinned tomato paste, not fresh. Pastry good, but overpowered by too strong tomato flavour. Cakes really disappointing. Rasp/Vanilla tart insipid and weak flavours. Again pastry good but filling very weak. Lemon Meringue same. Weak core flavour. The main event of the Tropizienne was just poor. No real flavour and nothing to remember you had had a bite of something sweet. Far too bland and dull. Very disappointing. Coffee was hot which was good but too strong. Service excellent and efficient, Packaging lovely, but food was poor. Sorry Robin Birley. I did try to like it.

What a treat. A delicious bakery, newly opened in December 2022. They have such an array of pastries (the usual croissants, pains au chocolat, pains au raisin,...) And breads. In a lovely classily decorated place. Good coffee too. Of the savoury pastries, they had "cravats" - small half tubes of puff pasty filled with either sausage/bbq sauce or spiced tomato, mozzarella and basil. I had never seen these before, so of course we had to try them. Delicious. We seem to chat to all manner of strangers - so of course made driends with other customers, the management, customers' dogs... Also there is an area where one of the bakers is working. I was able to geek out on all things bread with him. So much fun

This stunningly decorated patisserie is a wonderful addition to the area. The red walls feature beautiful Chinois birds, clouds and even a perfect little mouse hand-painted on to the wall. It is so chic and pretty. The cakes and breads and breakfast offerings are delicious. They also offer lovely looking chocolate. It was thrilling to see a true Tarte Tropezienne outside Provence! There is seating at the window bar and some banquettes. Hopefully service will improve and more clearing up going on as guests leave but this is, no doubt, teething as Mr Birley's establishments are always top notch. Will definitely be walking this way again.

Visited this place several times during our stay in London. Staff is very friendly, and tea is spot on. Enjoyed morning tea and scones, afternoon tea, and even after dinner tea here.

We are regular patrons of one of Colbert’s sister restaurants, Bellanger, so had high expectations of Colbert but left very disappointed. The service is great (although they didn’t tell us about the specials until after we’d already had our starter and I most certainly would have ordered from that menu instead) and they were very accommodating of our small dog and young baby. The food, however, was extremely disappointing, and also heavily overpriced. The steak was underwhelming and the Diane sauce (which you pay extra for) bland and watered down. The sausage and lentil dish small, not very tasty and with poor quality ingredients. The only saving grace was the Jerusalem Artichoke soup which was delicious. For 2 courses for 2 adults and a couple of drinks each the bill wasn’t far off £200 which was just madness for the poor quality food on offer. We won’t be returning.
