Birdhouse in Wandsworth

We arrived to a busy cafe, were seated and placed our order within about 10 mins. Nice. The tables surrounding us began to fill, and they received their orders before us. We politely checked in with the server (who I believe is the manager/owner) about our orders, he gaffed stepped towards our table and said that there is a cue for food, (pointed at the crowd, and to be patient, and walked away before I could respond. The staff seems kind but are clearly suffering from bad management. They also ran out of clean dishes and stopped serving food for a period of time in the midst of Brunch. Perhaps ordering take away is the better option at this place.

I love everything about Birdhouse - the fact you see the same staff working there every day, the cool interior, lovely windows, the outside seating for sunnier days... The menu is also great and the coffee delicious. They offer more original twists on the classic brunch menu as well as those dishes everyone loves. Service has been excellent and I've been a regular customer now for 3 years +. I host Air BnB guests and always recommend they go here for coffee and brunch and I always hear positive reviews. I often go with my husband on the weekends or alone to do some work and feel welcome anytime.

I came here to meet two friends for morning tea. We are all new mums and we’re not made to feel welcome at all. Despite the fact we were pretty much their only customers with a laptop user at the front as an exception there was no smiles, no manners and to be honest both male staff members were very rude. Really disappointed by the way we were treated. I left feeling like I had done something wrong by bringing my baby to a cafe with me. No wonder Story coffee a couple of doors down is so busy their service and coffee is exceptionally better.

Basic 'school' type seating with a sticky table top (suppose its 'urban') Sticky floor that may see a mop every now and again? Paintwork that I guess has seen paint at some point? The coffee was decent but should be at that price! The place needs a lick of paint and some effort if you are going to charge these prices and a smile might not go amiss ... with so many of these type of places around now then you should really try harder.

If I could put this no stars I surly would!!! Met a friend in this coffee shop, my friend baring in mind has bought a coffee the manager comes up to me and try’s to force me to buy a coffee while I have JUST SAT DOWN!!!! Because I didn’t want a coffee at that second a walked in he then took the water away that customers get and then said “ this water is ONLY FOR CUSTOMERS “ I am completely disgusted to the way I have been spoken to today at this place I definitely WILL NOT COMING HERE AGAIN

When Birdhouse first opened, I was intrigued to see what it was like. St John's Hill had traditionally been a road that always struggled with restaurants but Birdhouse has stood the test of time and is a true stalwart on the coffee/lunch scene in Clapham Junction. Although bijou in size, the food packs a punch! Whether it's brunch or lunch, it is consistently excellent. As a creature of habit, I always tend to choose between the chicken or steak bocadito, both highly recommended if you like flavour and want something more substantial than a piece of avocado! Speaking of avocado though, some years ago, they had a dish which was smoked salmon, dill creme fraiche and avocado...I still mourn its loss! The staff are warm and friendly as are the owners, especially the chef, who I believe is Australian. His smile is a winning one as is his food. Keep doing what you do guys - although we have moved towards the Common, I still look forward to coming back to you and have introduced so many friends to Birdhouse as well as clients.

Can’t tell you what the produce is like - because we went next door to Story Coffee. Just miserable, unwelcoming staff. My daughter has been there a few times and says it is generally like that. Life is too short.

What an adorable find ! I stumbled upon this welcoming little cafe while walking towards the train station. Kind staff, quick service, delicious bocaditos (highly recommend the one with mushrooms and goat cheese). The vibe is industrial with a splash of color and a great playlist. Thumbs up!
