Bilson Eleven in Glasgow City

Quiet little café with delicious food and lovely staff. The French toast was to die for! One minor thing is parking - arrive early to make sure you can walk to it if needed.

Suffers from a disappointing menu for vegetarians with few options. Being expensive, the lack of options doesn't justify the price. Overall not great value for money or vegetarian friendly. However the staff were attentive and pleasant.

Great experience for a foodie. The monthly tasting menu is unbelievable, try it!

Lovely place for a morning roll or coffee

I recently visited the brunch in Dennistoun and I found the service absolutely lovely. However, the food is really just average and the brunch menu disappointedly doesn’t include any veggie options apart from granola & French toast.

Went on Saturday and it was amazing. Lovely warm service, beautiful cosy and clean atmosphere. The food was gorgeous and cocktails are amazing. I got the French toast and it tasted as good as it looked. Took my partner the next day to try it because it was so good! They were super accommodating to our baby and we were given a lovely high chair and helped us as we were being a bit awkward in wanting to sit outside and take up a bit of room with the high chair. Right away our coffee order was taken, 2 other tables filled behind us after we arrived so the place was starting to get a bit busier. Coffee came and took a while to get a food menu which was understandable as two other tables came right after us. We began to notice that the other tables started to get their food before our order was taken, I believe a mix of misunderstanding that we were there for breakfast and forgetting about taking our order when the server went in to get a notepad. We both work in hospitality so totally get that this happens! We were advised they now can’t take our order for another 10 minutes because the kitchen was overwhelmed. This was fine. Another 20 mins passed and we had already been there for an hour, disappointingly we decided to go home as we had our baby with us. We would leave the money for our coffees and leave without bothering the staff further we could see they were busy. Obviously not great for us but I know their services and food is usually top notch and just chalked it up to a busy service day. On our way out the sever asked if were okay. We apologised and said we were just going to head home. They did say sorry but followed it with a “it’s just because you decided to add on food later and now we are too busy” this was a bit upsetting. We just weren’t served or asked our order or even given menus. Twice were told someone would be back with a notepad and no one ever came back (not saying this was on purpose, being forgotten during a busy service is so common and understandable). I think the blame being put on us kind of left a bad taste in our mouths. We were so understanding of everything that went wrong leading up to that point so I left feeling a bit upset. Possibly stress of a busy payday weekend with sunny weather. I would still recommend visiting for the great food and usually great service. The pointed comment just upset us a great deal especially once we had left and had a moment for it to sink in.

The beef and cheese toastie was spectacular, definitely one to try when visiting here. The staff are friendly and attentive. Loved the atmosphere and decor. Definitely part of our Sunday routine now before heading into town for the day.

We drove through driving rain from Edinburgh to see our friends who took us to this wonderful venue. I had a caramel hot chocolate to warm me up followed by soup of the day then a chicken thigh skillet. Our hostess was very kind and met all our needs. My son was happy with the vegetarian options. It was truly excellent

Lovely spot for brunch with great coffee and friendly staff!

Ate here for catch-up Sunday Brunch with friends and were blown away by the level of service provided. We had our own private room which was great as we have a 4 month old baby. The staff also provided a high chair, kids books and kids snacks! all waiting for us when we arrived. Top marks. The food itself was delicious and well worth the visit alone!

Apparently this was the last weekend service of the restaurant before it closes for refurbishment, the staff get let go, and it reopens at some point in a different incarnation. This explains my title, as tbh we found the whole thing disappointing for the price point - if you want to overpay for style over substance food whilst eating in a location that resembles your Nan's front room, this might have been the restaurant for you... Sark aside, when the restaurant got the food right, it was superb - the chocolate and cherry parfait with chocolate 'doilly' was fantastic, as was the pastry on the langoustine roe. The accompanying wine flight was also good, but otherwise it fell short. Detail below. Food: The scallop was nicely cooked but overpowered by the chilli. The curried skink was an oily, stodgy mess in the bowl that looked unappetising and was over spiced with fenugreek, giving it a medicinal aftertaste. The roe deer should have been lovely, but the texture with the white onion puree and the odd tartare wrapped in seaweed on a separate plate made it difficult to eat and the whole thing had an unpleasant, slimy, mouth feel. Was not impressed with the 3 day reduction jus. The 'leftovers' looked unpleasant and tasted of very little - if you have to go in to your zero waste policy at length to explain a dish, its probably not going to be your best. Service: Generally friendly, but the maitre d seemed to become increasingly erratic over the course of the evening, and our petit fours got forgotten about, blamed on a 'miscommunication'. Ambience: it really does feel as if you are sitting in a retirement home. At best described as 'quirky' it has 70s wallpaper, mismatched furniture, plant pots tied with string to room dividers and oddly low chairs (both myself and my dining partner had sore legs at the end of the night). Music was jarring and too loud - I dont mind the Rolling Stones, but not in the context of an ostenibly fine dining restaurant, and interestingly another couple complained about the volume when we were there. Finally the lighting in the toilet was ludicrously low - lord knows what you would do if you had poorer eyesight - there's mood lighting, but this was 'accident waiting to happen' territory. Final points: Price for 2 was over 420.00 before gratuity. For that price point for the quality of what we received, maybe it is indeed time for a change.

Delightful evening of perfect food, wine and service.

An absolutely splendid evening. It was quiet which was a real shame as the food was sublime, the staff were absolutely fantastic and the restaurant itself was lovely. It was a belated birthday dinner and the people were lovely enough to gift me a card at the end (and even a little present). It's a real shame the tasting menu will no longer be available but I sincerely look forward to seeing what the Bilson Eleven team does next. We were all arguing over what our favourite course was and we've yet to come to a decision!

Great dining experience offering excellent food in beautiful surroundings. The tasting menu was great and the tastes amazing.

We chose the ‘wee taster’ menu which offered a variety of tastes, flavours and textures. The wines we had were described in fine detail by the manager and sommelier Mark and nicely complemented the food. We loved the ambience of the restaurant and the friendly interaction with the staff. All in all we had an excellent experience and one we would highly recommend.

Excellent experience at Bilson Eleven. Takes a little bit of finding and parking is limited, but once inside, it was brilliant. Very stylish and personal service. The menu was well thought out and presented. Strikes a good balance of relaxed formality. We have dined at all the best Glasgow restaurants, and this is in the top 3. It's not cheap, but it is very competitive when compared to other similar venues. Highly recommended and well worth a visit.

Such a special place to go, our go to if we have something to celebrate. Food and out of this world, sommelier choices also complimented our meal perfectly.

Stuffy and crap Food bland and dull Zero atmosphere We didn’t even finish our menu as it was so bad Just buzz words like “cultured honey” as if the bees have read catcher and the rye and own the smiths back catalogue on tape. Waitress seemed to be kept there against her will in this strange bizarre place. We didn’t even finish all the food and left after 4 courses it was so boring

This was a fantastic place to eat - the service was superb, the food was just lovely with a fabulous mix of flavours in each dish and over the seven courses PLUS a great touch that each course is described and we had some questions which were answered with ease. This was the same for the wine, we tried a Bulgarian red for the first time and the staff had all the info plus decanted back into the bottle - which I'd never seen. It was just a great experience which we will repeat!

We’ve visited Bilson Eleven on various occasions over the past few years. We keep going back for two simple reasons: the amazing food and great service. This time we had spotted an offer on It Is On. As usual we were welcomed and shown to our table at the window. The food was delicious, as always, and the matching wines were great (Mark really does know his wine choices inside out). Look forward to going back for our next visit later in the year.

Wonderful hosting and wonderful food. The restaurant is in a very unassuming building on a residential-looking street, so it’s quite an Aladdin’s cave. We did the shorter menu. It was just the right amount of food for me - a little less than my husband ideally needed but he’s a big guy. We will return if we can!

This was our third visit to Bilson Eleven and it was as special as we had remembered our first two visits. The food is outstanding and the wine pairing is a taste sensation.... Oh and the service well that's like being welcomed home....we always leave Bilson with a warm feeling and the start of the excitement building for our next visit. If you haven't been go along and enjoy..... you deserve it.

We really love this restaurant, the food is always very good with some different ideas. The wine pairings are really excellent , we have never been disappointed yet. The wine is often different and is a fantastic match for the food. Great staff.

Visited for a special birthday occasion and was not disappointed. Food was amazingly good, had the wee taster menu and the pairing wines which really complemented each course. Staff were welcoming and friendly from the moment we arrived and explained each course. Chef even came out to chat to us at the end of our meal. Said we would return and we did 2 weeks later! Food tasted every bit as good can’t wait to go back.

The food was superb…a veritable array of tastes, sensations and flavours. Wonderfully balanced tasting menu with plenty of variety, with excellent wine pairings. The sommelier was incredibly knowledgeable and gave engaging and detailed explanations of the food and wine. Set inside a ‘real’ front dining room in a terraced house, the setting betrays a real sense of authenticity whilst providing the highest quality of food and drink.

This was a really nice place to enjoy a lovely tasting menu dinner. Food ingredients were mostly Scottish but put together in a modern and innovative way. Wine pairings were also spot on and wines were presented in professional way emphasizing tasting notes. The place was quite small which makes you feel like you’re almost in a private dinner. And the service was just perfect, not too formal. Would definitely recommend!

Quirky maybe, old fashioned maybe but absolutely grand in every way. The restaurant is small and the ambiance homely. The service is attentive but never in-your-face. The courses come at just the right pace, the order carefully thought out and each one perfectly executed. There is lots of interest on the plate without being fussy or indulgent. Portion sizes are just right at the end we felt completely satisfied but not over-full. We drank wines by the glass the quality of which matched the price. The restaurant is a little out of the way but really worth the effort to get there. A super night out.

Bilson eleven is absolute brilliant. Really fantastic for in a very relaxed environment. Amazing tasting menu with the best wine pairings I've ever experienced. Staff were very attentive and the cosy dining environment made it a great date evening. Sommelier very extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We were the last sitting of the evening and wanted to go out after our meal and the staff were happy to recommend some local places for drinks afterwards. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

We have eaten at a number of 1, 2, and 3 Michelin star restaurants and Bilson Eleven still stands out, I am amazed it hasn't received a star yet.

We had such a phenomenal time at Bilson Eleven. Its an experience more than a meal, you are so taken care of the whole time you are there and Nick and the team leave no stone unturned. The food was magnificent, every course was an absolute sensation and the matching wines complimented it perfectly.
