Bikash in Thurrock

Our local go to restaurant, they are simply the very best Indian restaurant. It is a real treat to eat here. We last visited for a birthday celebration for our two grown up children.

Always a good night out, great food, great staff. nothing is ever an issue, Prosh and his guys are a great team. We visit on average once a week whenever possible. Always look forward to eating out here.

the other day it was my birthday so i thought why not treat myself to a curry, and as every time i go past there door my tongue is usually hanging out of my mouth, i thought it was about time that i visited them again, and although i have probably not been in there for quite some time, thankfully i found out that nothing has changed, and as i was only ordering for one person i didn`t exactly get a great deal of food, and i must admit that when it comes to indian food i`m some what of a light weight in that i prefer the less hot items from the menu, so after finally deciding on what to order, and believe me when i say that this is not always an easy choice, considering all the impressive and mouth watering selection just going by the menu alone, but when i did order a takeaway, and despite me having never tried it before now, and when i got it home, and i took just one bite out of my king prawn biryani, i soon knew that i was eating one of the nicest and tastiest meals that i`ve had in a while, i`ve now got to save up my pennies because i cannot wait for my next visit, which i hope will be sooner than later, but no doubt i will be yet again confused about what to choose next time, but then whatever i decide upon will no doubt put a smile on my face, and will like always be amazing to taste.

Had a great evening at the Bikash. The decor is lovely, parking easy, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. The poppadoms we had to start we crisp and tasty, along with a good selection of chutneys. I had the chicken tikka to start, and it was very good indeed. It was made by the sauce that was served alongside, and I was told that it was their own recipe. It was quite spicy, well judged and went exceptionally well with my chicken tikka. For a main course I opted for the Chicken Pathia and while it was nice, it hadn't got the same sweet and sour tang that I have become used to at other restaurants. It tasted good, but didn't have that kick that I was looking for. That won't put me off, however, I will be looking at other items on the menu next time that I go. And for sure I'll be back.

First time to visit this Indian restaurant, found it First class, great service throughout the evening, food was excellent,lovely clean table clothes and napkins .Would definitely recommend this restaurant, prices were very reasonable considering how other English restaurants have put up prices considerably.

Best Indian restaurant in the area, doesn’t look great from the outside but has a more upmarket feel inside. Lovely food and good service. Good selection of drinks, only downside was the white wine which was a bit bland. Big portions and quick (not too quick) service

Found this restaurant by chance and so glad we did !.....we have visited a lot of Indian restaurants all over but the food in bikash is second to none .....and it’s only a few miles away ....the lamb curry is unbelievable the meat is full of flavour and so soft ....also the lamb chop curry is a must have .....but make sure your hungry as the chops are big !.....the staff are very welcoming and friendly and nothing is to much trouble .....and if it’s not on the menu ask and the staff will accommodate!.....wouldn’t go anywhere else !

This is the first time I ordered from here as I had come to stay at a friends for the weekend after much dithering we settled for an Indian, so ordered tandoori chicken and chicken dansak both of which came with pilau rice. Naan bread and Bombay potatoes and onion barjis The food arrived in good time and was piping hot and smelt fantastic. The chicken in both dishes were huge succulent tasty and plenty of it. The rice was well seasoned and fluffy. I can’t express enough how delightful the food was a 20/10 I will definitely be ordering from here again I only wish they had a shop in my area. Compliments to the chef.

Decided to try this restaurant on recommendation from a friend and the trip advisor rating but left a little disappointed. Restaurant is warm and welcoming with friendly staff but the food was a bit bland and tasteless and not particularly good value for money.

Visited this time only because my daughter asked to do it as a memory of her childhood. In the past, before my wife died, we were regulars at this restaurant, it’s been a rollercoaster experience, sometimes superb sometimes only ok. Recent experience suggests a restaurant that has partly lost its way. To its credit, it’s got far busier than it used to be, against, it’s lost a bit of its focus upon customer service. After nearly 1400 reviews on TA, plus submitting reviews for the good food guide and to Hardens, I consider myself a reasonable judge of the total restaurant experience. On the plus side the food is generally good, sometimes exceptional. Space between tables and the size of the tables with the number of things served is debatable. Staff are very busy when the restaurant is full thus customer service does diminish. They have had a couple of times when their card machine has failed, one wonders if they should invest in another one as it’s somewhat key to the business. Occasionally one does feel as a take away customer it’s not easy to get served as the phone is almost constantly ringing, which does lead to customer frustration. My last take away my partner insisted on going in whilst I waited in the car so she could pay. A restaurant in Grays serving similar cuisine, handles their popularity better and would be a good role model for this venue. Sadly this is a repost of my last review as the owners son’s response was wholly inaccurate and accusatory. It’s virtually impossible to offer feedback at the time as staff are so rushed it took a while to get the bill never mind have time to talk to anyone about suggestions. Toilets were clean, service was ok but clearly volume is putting pressure on the infrastructure that they need to focus on rather than demean legitimate assessments of customers albeit sadly now marginalised customers. My use of this restaurant, I assume predates the next generations involvement, as I had been going on and off for the full life of the venue. Shame

This is one of my favourite places to eat- staff are friendly and food is tasty - if your not sure what to have tell the waiter what you like and he will give you a recommendation, never got it wrong for me yet - do not over coconut your food like other restaurants nearby

Great evening . Great food as always. Great service.. This is the best Indian , in my opinion in the area. We had a great night with great friends , sitting in the window seat.This place doesn’t disappoint . Do yourself a favour and experience this Resturant yourself. You won’t be disappointed

Had the king prawn tikka Marsala which was worryingly sweet and the prawns were a tad chewyThe onion Bhakti were soft and not crunchy at all.The naan bread was ok but not exciting.Shame the card machine was faulty, nicotine the first time, would be good to have a second one

Highly recommend this restaurant, have been using ut for a number of years food is outstanding aswell as the service from the staff best in the area.

Enjoyed a lovely meal tonight with family. Although very busy we didn't have to wait long to be served. Will definitely return.

the rogan was good on taste but the chicken was tough. Don know wheather they may overcooked but overall its a busy place and difficult to sit down without prior booking. Good service and value for money.

A traditional Indian restaurant with a good menu of favourites and some newer dishes. I’ve used this restaurant many times eat or take away and it’s always top drawer. Its decor is smart crisp white tables a nice place to eat. I’d recommend this place for a family or couples dining. Parking easy outside or large car park to rear.

Thought we would try a different indian but unfortunately it was a very bad mistake.

Went to order a take away, first the card machine was broken, not their fault, but then he kept pitting me off to answer the phone. Eventually gave up and left on the third time I had been ignored

You feel welcome here and there’s a great choice of meals served piping hot. They put in a lot of effort to get you what you need and feel satisfied. It can get a bit noisy but then that’s the happy atmosphere of this place

This is a nice restaurant but it’s not the same as it was. Particularly take away. This takes over an hour where it used to be very quick. The food is pleasant. Sadly will not be going back soon

Have been to Bikash before, but returned due to inclement weather, should have been in Chinatown in London, but weather prevented this so went locally instead. Pappadoms and pickles were fine. I think the waiting staff struggle a bit with our language at times. We ordered a large beer and two glasses, which they found difficult to understand. As previously mentioned in another review, they hover when you are trying to decipher their vast menu. It can be a bit off putting. I finally decided on a dish I hadn’t tried before, the basis of which was, chicken, prawn and duck. It arrived quite quickly and I tucked in, the ‘duck’ was lamb, I wouldn’t have had a problem with that if I had been told, but when I questioned the waiter, he went off and returned telling me that the chef said it was duck? I know duck from lamb and felt aggravated that no apology or explanation was given. Their menu is too large they can’t possibly provide every dish described. We will likely not return to the Bikash and continue to use our favourite Zaal which is a drive away.

I found a tooth in my curry. It was vile. NEVER eat here. The manager was very rude and unapologetic.

Wow. What can I say. Stunning restaurant excellent service. Food was fantastic. Friendly staff. Took 20 folk there. Great evening. Bar somewhat expensive but heyho. Also these guys do take away food to same standard as sit in... All good

Went in to order a take away a drunk incoherent man was engaging staff in a discussion and became apoplectic to discover they served Dutch chickens!

what to say about Bikash. the food and surroundings are first class, the service is also forst class. the owner Mr choudrey, will if your lost on what to order, create something for you. you wont find it on the menu, but if you like it it will be on the menu next time. Always worth a visit to Bikash.

We all had different meals and were of a good size. But the flavours were very bland . The price was good though and not too expensive.

Went here over the quiet Xmas period in between Xmas and new year my parents live near by and it was the only place open on a cold winters night I ordered take away over the phone and when I went to collect it the place was packed with with people and had a lovely atmosphere I thought wow I mist come here and this Indian is going to be excellent , when we ate it back at home I would say 6 out of 10

Good was great lots of flavour and plenty of quantity. Service is pretty good as well. Never felt rushed. It was reasonably busy for a Thursday but did not have to wait too long for the dishes to arrive. I would go again and recommend the restaurant as a good mid week dinner venue.

Came here last night with my partner and came home disappointed. Food was bland and average. No seasoning or taste. Was a shame as the service and restaurant was great.

When it comes to my Indian sometimes I'm too harsh, but the food I had last night was somewhat a joke. With the Chicken Tikka Masla actually giving me and my girlfriend goosebumps with the amount of flavour I had going in my mouth bill came to £50 with is fair as we have two curry dishes and about three sides and out drinks. The madras as bang on. Bombay potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. I used to get my Indians from chadwell and they were nice and i had a takeaway from the Essence Of Bengal not to long ago and I would struggle to give that a two. So I highly rate this and will be returning.

Always nice and fresh and friendly staff, i am a korma girl and had keema rice and naan which is really nice. Park out front, nice and convenient and the takeaway is just as good too

Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. Food is amazing and very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend it. Went on a week night so not too busy, but I would recommend you book at weekends.

My husband and I had the most relaxed evening meal. The service was super efficient and most attentive. All of the food we ordered was delicious; it arrived hot; there was no waiting in between courses; the best thing for me personally was that they had a very good varied vegetarian choice. The restaurant is decorated to a high standard and the ambience is very relaxing. I would say the cleanliness is second to none.I could not fault anything about our visit to this restaurant; the evening was rounded off nicely with a complimentary drink!

I love this restaurant, we have always had a great meal here with family and friends over the years. The food is delicious and staff are always very friendly, and it's lovely decorated too. Even to pick up a takeaway from, to have a quick drink and pick at the Indian mix while watching a bit of Tv- well.. football is good while your waiting!!

Came here on a Saturday night with a group of family and friends. Staff could do with being a bit more friendly. Ordered a biriyani and asked them to spice it up but was dished rather plain and not spicy. All in all very average, nothing special at all, not bad but not great either.

Excellent Indian restaurant located in the heart of corringham town centre. Freshly made Indian food to eat in the nicely decorated restaurant or you can phone up your order and takeaway. Prices range from medium range onwards. Would recommend.

Arrived at 7.30. Got a table about 7.50, then waited, and waited. The menu is ridiculously huge and it came through in the food. The butterchicken was more like a korma with tomato. The madras was milder than the mushroom bahji. The food tasted alright but not as one wpuld expect for the ordered flavours. So that and the longest wait ever only inspires me to a poor rating. Next time I'm in the area I'll either go to the chippy or the Turkish around the corner.

Returned after a while, for a starter and main.Starter was a butterfly prawn in breadcrumbs. I had hoped that past experience was a one off, sadly not. It's huge mostly made up of thick breadcrumb, too thick too dry and far too much! If you manage to get through to the prawn it's not bad but far far too much coating that us frankly quite nasty.Main was a tandoori duck dish. Duck is one of my favourite meats, but it needs careful cooking as it gets quite unpleasant if over cooked. The flavour was nice but the meat was incredibly dry due to a serious amount of over cookingHugely disappointed by the food as I have had better here!Ps this was a takeaway not eaten in, but I live 700 yards away so no time to spoil

Eaten in there twice, I give most places the benefit of doubt, but The Bikash serves the worst Indian food apart from what you get in America.You are rammed in as the tables are way too close. It just seems as the yare the only curry house in the town centre, no effort is put in?Also had a takeway once that was even worse.

The staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The portions are very good, the food is lovely and the prices are fair. You even get a shot of baileys or whiskey with your bill.The only down side is it can get very warm in the restaurant but as stated before the staff are very helpful and will turn the air con on.This has become one of my favourites.

We are regular visitors to the Bikash. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in the area. Good selection of meat and fish dishes, nice atmosphere, excellent service and they also have a prompt home delivery service.

We have only ever ordered take away from here but have never been disappointed. Food is very tasty with distinct flavours and there is a great menu range. Staff on the phone are always helpful and polite, often giving additional suggestions.

Oh dear, this was one my favourite indian restaurants, great food and nice atmosphere. The staff are always very helpful and friendly.I loved this place hidden in corringham, the food seemed traditionally made with authentic Indian flavours, but My last visit was a disastrous disappointment.I'm really sorry to report, my last meal tasted like a ready made sauce with cold cooked chicken added. It was so awful I couldn't eat it. To be fair the manager offered to remake the dish, unfortunately I couldn't face anything else. I am not sure I will return.

What a surprise! Taken by a friend and found really good food with an excellent vegetarian selection. Having lived in India for a few years this was some of the most authentic food I've had in the UK. Well done to the chefs. Will be back - and it wasn't expensive either!

We have eaten here many times over the years and overall the food and service is very good.Like all restaurants if you eat there regularly it becomes boring so we tend to leave it for a few months go elsewhere then come back.

We had a lovely meal in the restaurant on Friday. The staff were lovely, the restaurant was spotless and the food was excellent. We all had one drink each plus some soft drinks, there were 9 of us and the bill came to just over £200. I would most definitely recommend this Indian restaurant.

We ate here with friends who live locally. The food was fantastic and very well presented. The waiter was slightly miserable and would not provide an alternative sauce with the Biryani. Resulting in my husband having to choose something else. Having said that we really enjoyed our food. All in all we had a lovely meal and would recommend it.

Great Place, very modern, I love the LED lighting in this place. Very comfortable, large choice of food & drink & deserts, no one rushes you to finish, large portions. I shall be returning very soon.

Bikash is by far the best Indian Restaurant. I enjoy eating in and having a home delivery. The food is always hot, tasty and generous portions. The service is excellent.

I regularly go to this restaurant and simply love the food they serve! the atmosphere in the restaurant is warming and the service from the staff is the best I've had at any restaurant. I had my 21st birthday meal here as well and all of the guests enjoyed the food and service.

my last experience of this restaurant was surly uninterested staff but was toild it was under new management so here we go!seriously changed experience. Attentive interested staff, food that was served piping hot and had sublty of flavour nan bread that was not only hot but well cooked and not microwaved!Overall a great experience. A few nice touches for customer care!

Attended this restaurant and was handed the largest choice of meals I have ever had in an Indian. I had a Chicken Chat starter which was excellent, Duck Jalfrezi which was to die for and tasters of the the meals my friends chose. Altogether a really good experience. We'll done !!!!

We had a takeaway, it was delicious! It arrived in good time, well packaged and piping hot. All the dishes were lovely, especially the rice. Thoroughly recommended.

What a nightmare of a place. Before I write my review I will admit to the visit as being the last stop to grab a takeaway after a thoroughly enjoyable and long day. It felt as if they didn't want to be there and a takeaway was beneath them. We felt rushed into ordering as they hovered over us like vultures and not particularly helpful ones at that. We ordered drinks while we waited yet still felt our every move was being watched. During our time there I popped to a local convenience store for some provisions. On the way home my friend told me how uncomfortable she felt on her own there with the continued scrutiny.The food itself was very mediocre indeed and hardly deserving of itself proclaimed awards. In fact I'm very surprised to read the positive views on this site.SORRY BUT NEITHER MY PARTNER NOR I WILL DEFINITELY NOT BE EATING THERE AGAIN.

By far my favourite Indian Restaurant in the Corringham / SLH area. Restaurant has been open for many years, and I think this speaks volumes on the quality of the establishment. Food is always very nice (both eating in and take away), service is always great with the staff very attentive at all times. Would recommend highly

Been going to this indian for years, its is beautifully decorated inside and the food is the best, they even cook something for your taste if not on the menu, nothing is too much trouble, the staff are always polite and helpful, I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone, as most people think indian food is hot, which you can have if you want, but the other dishes are just full of flavour!
