very disappointed- no cod only haddock- snappy, sullen staff. asked for receipt answered with ' YOU'LL GET ONE....!' Very few chips but haddock was tasty but would of preferred cod. Table was greasy with cola spilled on it. Expect better for the cost.

I visited this place on Saturday and was shocked by the small portion of chips I received. When I politely asked for more, the woman at the till, an older lady with blonde/grey hair and glasses, rudely snapped, "Well, that's bu*sh*t," as if I was lying just to get a few extra chips. The portion certainly didn't reflect the cost. Thankfully, another staff member stepped in and got me more chips, but the old woman just glared at me. When I told her not to glare at me and that she shouldn’t insinuate I was lying, she barked back, "YOU'RE A LIAR, YOU'RE A LIAR." After reading other reviews, it seems this isn’t an isolated incident. The old, sour-faced woman’s rudeness appears to be a common problem. The manager should seriously consider letting her go to improve the overall customer experience. This place is a hard pass until they clean up their act.

Awful taste of chips there was about 20 chips for 3:45 Not even tasty ships were very bland This is what they call regular 20 chips do not buy from here stone face people as well They all look quite boring as if they don't want to be there you have been warned don't eat here don't buy here yes I did count the chips that was about 22 chips for 3:45 never again

Awful food, tiniest portions. I had battered sausage and chips and my daughter had a large cod by itself. When my daughter brought the food over we both looked at it and wondered where the rest of the meal was! The chips I had were cold and as there were so few of them it was annoying that some were inedible due to being black/ green or still having eyes in. Sausage was extremely greasy and of poor quality. They also charged 25p for tomato sauce. Fish was also small and greasy. Had to eat out of the polystyrene trays with wooded forks. Meal was left it was so bad. As for customer service what customer service?! Staff looked and gave the impression that they didn’t want to be there , no please or thank you. Kids eat free here…could be the reason why the adult meals are small and over priced to compensate. My advice would be to give this place a miss until they sort their act out.

OK so as locations go this place is probably in one of the premier spots for footfall in Blackpool and because of this is clearly complacent. I don't think I have been anywhere where the staff are so miserable, unhelpful and damn right disrespectful to it's customers. Firstly we had 2 very elderly family members with us who just can't eat a lot. They are always accommodated with smaller or child size portions but nope, not here! We weren't politely told it wasn't possible but abruptly barked at when we explained why we wanted smaller portions, after all there was enough of us buying regular portions. Any time we asked something we were met with a tut or eye roll. If it were just us I'd question if we'd done something wrong but the staff were like that with those before and after us. Given the footfall, the team clearly know they are guaranteed a good footfall and this is a shame because they really don't deserve it. There are fish and chip shops in Blackpool that far exceed this place in both quality of food and certainly service!!

I visited here with my dad today. And I must say the meal was horrible we had a simple chip barm each and on receiving this the chips were all black and bruised. The barms did not taste fresh and tasted stale. The coffee was clearly made from a cheap coffee machine tasted like hospital coffee. I must say the manager was great and helpful and apologetic and refunded my dad for his meal. But I'm sorry to say I'd not eat here again put me off chips.

Wouldn't serve me a meal.as wasn't hungry and said I've had to buy a adult meal I left and got a kids meal from chippy further up front. Avoid this place dictating what you can eat

We called at this so called great chippy on a trip to Blackpool as we took my elderly mother in law for a run out. We ordered four fish dinners and asked for one of them to be a childs one as my 84 year old mother in law doesn't eat much. We got asked how old the child was and we explained about mother in law not eating alot so would be a waste to get a big dinner. We were told you can't have a child's meal unless your child is seven or younger. The staff are not the most welcoming I've ever met. Food was just average. Not a great deal of taste thank heavens for curry and sauce. Would not recommend this astablishment to anyone.

Chips covered in eyes 1 star because sausage and tea were OK 19.90 for 2 sausage chips and curry on a small tray shocking left half the chips restaurant was dirty tables unsteady floor covered in food...eat at your own risk. .horrendous!!!

Went for takeaway lunch on Saturday. I had my 11 year old daughter with me, she wouldn't eat an adults sized portion so asked for a child's sausage and chips, this was priced on the menu at £3.75 (or free if child under 10 when adult meal ordered). The lady serving me asked how old my daughter was, I said 11 and was told she couldn't have a child's portion. I explained i wasn't after the free child's meal, I was more than happy to pay but no, she refused to serve a child's portion. Ended up paying for a adults portion at £6.95 which she didn't finish. This is the first place I've ever encountered this. I should really have walked out and gone elsewhere (husband was very surprised I didn't) but we'd already tried Papa's, Harry Ramsdens and even wetherspoons but they were all full with up to an hour wait for a table. Food itself was passable but won't return.

On looking at the menu prices seemed OK....but my goodness, you can literally count the chips in the tiny polystyrine plate. Me and my partner had pie and chips, pie the size of a small pork pie and you can literally count the chips! Ive seen bigger childrens meals - We had 10 chips each! Our free kids meal had 7 chips and 3 tiny nuggets. We all left with empty bellies and by the time I bought drinks it came to £22. Won't be returning.

I asked the girl 3 times for 2 x jumbo battered sausages and chips, 2 x buttered barms (rolls but that’s what they call rolls up here). She said 2 minutes for the chips and she would call when they’re ready. Over 5 minutes later I go round as still not called and she said she’s still waiting for chips and proceeded to take more orders. I go back another 5 minutes later and she’s doing chips, she hands over 2 jumbo sausages and chips and says my order. Tell her again no I ordered jumbo battered sausages and chips. She rudely tried telling me I said just jumbo. Then said 2 minutes rudely and walked off to the edge of the chip frying section and decided to slag me off about customers being difficult. Go back another 5 minutes later and just getting the food trayed up. Shoves it all on the tray on the counter walked off and says battered sausages and chips walked off. Haven’t been spoken to so rudely on this visit up north as rudely as this girl has spoken to me. Her customer service skills suck big time.

Came to Blackpool for a holiday weekend with family. The chippy had good service, clean tables and amazing food. I had chips and sausage which was delicious. Sadly, ketchup was 40p per packet. Other than that, it was amazing!

Brilliant food and room to sit in I had fish and chips and it was spot on I like how you could put salt and vinegar on yourself as some times they put to much /to little on. I do recommend as one of the best chippys in Blackpool.

Would not let my husband have a children's meal even though he told then he was diabetic, he was then told he would have to buy a full meal as they do not cater for diabetics. He then asked for a small sausage but was told he would have to pay for a large one as the small one is for a children's meal. Worth the very short detour down the little road between The Spyglass and Coral Island. Tram stop opposite is The Tower. I got a takeaway fish & chips served in a neat cardboard box and offered (luxury) do your own salt and vinegar. Fast and friendly service. All hot and fresh, chips crisp, battered fish crispy outside and moist and creamy inside. Perfect.

Decided to nip in here for a late lunch. Was told a few min wait which to me is good as the food is not sitting there all day. When the food came it was piping hot and fresh. Decided on the fish cake and chips with curry. Lovely and the curry was the nicest I've had from a chippy in a long time. Friends had the sausage and chips and also enjoyed the gravy. Would definetly eat here again. Cafe was also very clean also and staff appeared clean for a food establishment.

Cane for a day out & decided to have fish n chips at this location.Close by the shopping centre (cheap parking) & right by the beach too.Pro's: reasonable price for fish n chips (£6.95).Other locations have of between £5.90-£10, so it's good.Fish tastes delicious although the chips are hot.Con's: small restaurant so not much seating.Also, cutlery is single use plastic, so terrible for the environment.Overall: worth the visit and food is delicious for the price.

The staff in this establishment were rude. There was no smiles, no manners, I was made to feel a nuisance for asking questions. I do think it staff need to direct where you stand they should smile and say please and thank you. The food is also not superb or ‘award winning’. Would not visit again.

Never been here before, but thought we would pop in as it always seemed to have a steady flow of customers whenever we passed. Had 2 x fish and chips, 1 portion of peas and 1 soft drink. Excellent over all. Very polite and friendly staff, clean environment, staff constantly wiping tables once vacated. One way system to comply with covid restrictions. Swift service even though lady explained would have a little wait for the fish. Generous portions size, fish was Huge! Not swimming in fat/oil like some places. Cooked to perfection.Mum had chicken which she states was lovely, this was also cooked perfectly "no traces of pink".Would recommend to anyone wanting a fantastic meal and great price. Coral insisted that we both "log in via the NHS Covid app". As my husband does not have a smart phone, he had to write his name etc. We could have written Mickey Mouse.The mushy peas were luke warm. The fish was of good qualityA young man with two dependents entered the shop, he sat them down and went to park his car. One of the women asked if she could use the toilet. She was told no, they are closed. This was a woman with special needs. When he came back I advised him that she needed to go to the toilet, he asked if they could use the toilets. The staff were unhelpful. Raising their voices to say all the toilets are closed. I advised him where the toilets were open. The staff contradicted me. I said, I have just used them, they are open. I walked him and the lady to the loos. If this is Blackpool friendliness, I would not want to meet an unfriendly person

Me and my family had visited the BIG FISH TRADING CO FISH & CHIP RESTAURANT on 79 Hey Bank Street Blackpool ! What a BIG mistake that turned out to be ! We had ordered 3 fish and chip meals of cod and chips ! The chips where scabby with some of the chips being over cooked while others were undercooked - ( they looked and tasted like a fresh batch of chips had been thrown into the vat and cooked with the left over batch of chips that had probably been cooked earlier during the day ! ) - the chips had a oily watery sort of taste to them,with some of the chips being hard to bite from being overcooked while others were soft cold soggy watery tasting from being undercooked ! We had ordered cod with our chips but it would seem that either the restaurant was using cheap frozen fish or was using the cheap pollock fish which is a cheap substitute version of cod ?! The fish was tasteless, and had a sort of a watery taste to it from it having been frozen fish used or from it not being cooked enough ? One of my family members had ordered a pot of gravy with their meal which was thick lumpy and had a bitter taste to it totally disgusting ! THE ONLY PERSON WHO SEEMED TO ENJOY THE MEAL WHICH HAD COST £23 FOR A FAMILY OF 3 PEOPLE WAS THE NEAREST DUST BIN !!

Terrible fish and chips ! The chips were scabby with a sort of a watery oily taste ,Some of the chips were over cooked while others were slightly under cooked ! The fish which was supposed to have been cod tasted more like the cheap substitute to cob called pollock ! The curry sauce was very bitter tasting. The pot of gravy one of my family members had ordered was very thick and lumpy and also had a bitter taste ! After eating only a quarter of the fish and chip meal from big fish trading co in Blackpool We ALL had to throw the rest of the meal away in the nearest bin as itWas that terrible to eat and left us with a horrible after taste in our mouths for hours later ! The fish and chips were that horrible and terrible to eat that even our pet dog turned its nose up at eating what We had left - that’s how bad the meal was !

Got take out fish and chips for 4 of us and it was disgusting. The fish had no taste what so ever. It was hard and overcooked. Felt like frozen fish. Food was on the cold side. Would never go back.

5 adults one child .ended up with 3 kids meals free only asked for 1 . The frier was a friendly lady who spoke good english chatted to us while we waited . The chips need a little longer we thought but all the food was hot n fresh. Worth a visit for sure. Very good fish n chips and homemade fish cakes really nice.

Very expensive steak pie was ok apart from there was no steak bread 60p a slice red sauce 20p could of gone to a pub and had a proper sit down meal look elsewhere I wouldn’t ever eat there again £220 for a small coke could of bought a 2 litre bottle for that and it says kids eat free total rip off

The chips were white and mushy needs cooking longer and the place needs to be kept cleaner the staff were polite.

It was a busy time when we visited but the chips were very good with a great curry sauce. 2 X chips (one with curry sauce) and it cost £8 - a little over priced we think.

Had late lunch here recently, it was very busy but the service was fast. Fish and chips were excellent and the portions are big-it can work out a bit expensive but you are in Blackpool-around £18 for 2 portions of fish and chips and a drink. You can eat in if you can find a seat.

Never waited so long for fish & chips,only 1 lad taking orders & boxing up food.We joined the queue with about 8 people in front of us but it took over 1/2 hour to get served,when we finally ordered 5 x fish & chips the lad looked at us as if we had asked for tickets to the moon!!! He checked the fryer to see if they had enough cooked up phew there was but the growing queue behind us were going to have a long wait.We did not expect to sit inside & be served in cardboard boxes & plastic knives & forks!! We spent nearly £48.00 but when we asked for the child's sausage & chips to be put in a box instead of a polystyrene tray the lad said he was not allowed but gave us another tray to put on top???There were 6 staff behind the counter each had obviously been designated 1 job & woo be tide they were going to do anymore than necessary,I have never seen such miserable uncommunicative people in 1 place.The food was OK fish was a fair size ,the chips were a bit greasy & scratty I think the only way to improve productivity & profitably would be to work on commission as the staff were not the slightest bit bothered how long people were waiting & how disgruntled they were!! I work in catering myself so take my advice & go to any other establishment in Blackpool but here!!!!

Choose this place as it had outdoor seating which we needed as we had our dog with us. Service was a little slow, but the fish was nice and white and good texture with crispy batter, and the chips were fine, both very hot and freshly cooked.

Took the children to see the illuminations and you cant go to Blackpool without having fish and chips!All looked well from the outside until we were greeted with what I can only describe as the most unhappy, rudest Scottish woman serving the masses. She then yelled at us to come and collect our order..god forbid she walked the 2 steps to where we were sat! My children took a sachet of tomato sauce out of the tub on the counter which she then shouted at them '20p'The food wasnt great, chips and fish were greasy...my children refused to eat theres but I thought no point to complain, I doubt her customer service would have been satisfactory either.She also leaned across me to swap the half full vinegar for a full one, she said 'sorry for leaning over you've but proceeded to do in anyway knocking my greasy chip down my throat! If you read this unpleasant scottish lady dont lean over people when they are eating! I did tell you this at the time but you didn't even acknowledge that you had been spoken to. Also it's nice to be nice.We left and needless to say dont bother wasting your money in this hovel, your money would be better spent in one of the many fish and chip shops in Blackpool.Also the toilets were disgusting! A question which was never answered. The annual outing of family and friends to see the illuminations, waste some money, get blown around on the beach in your Eskimo coat and a good old fish and chip supper to finish. We had done it all, all eight of us, couple of kids down due to lurgy, still the bunch of us with a couple of kids were out to feed Blackpool's economy. Or at least I was, until I was stopped in my tracks, and told I could not purchase a kiddy meal for myself off the Big Fish Trading Co's menu, because I wasn't a child and I did not have a child with me (I wouldn't mind, I'm only a foot taller than my granddaughter, she's six, she got a kiddy meal). However, it was perfectly OK for my friend in front of me to purchase two adult meals for herself and a child. I have dined in Michelin star restaurants in the UK and all over Europe, I live in a small village where the local chippy thrives but sees nothing of the trade like the Big Fish Trading Co and yet I have never experienced such poor service where they cannot either provide a small, in this case a fish and chip supper or the option to purchase from the child's menu. My friends and family assured me I hadn't missed out on not being able to purchase food, apparently the fish was not palatable due to the soggy batter and the chips left that heavy feeling of anemia. Looks like I got off lightly, my gripe about the company is not the food I cannot give a honest comment of that, I just feel we live in such a wasteful society, a place where people are starving which was more evident than ever on the Blackpool promenade and streets, forcing folk to purchase food which will be wasted sends out such a negative message to our younger generation and highlights the fact the Big Fish Trading Co. see their customers as commodities, they rely upon the fact these customers will be a one hit wonder and there'll be another unsuspecting crew along tomorrow, to eat the cheaply purchased but mightily sold products which in turn lines somebodies silk pockets. I will say the gentleman, who was unable to answer my question and who had no choice but to refuse to accept my purchase was genuinely apologetic and for that I am thankful that human nature still exists. A business which provides a service to its patrons, the community and the wiser society needs all the cogs to work in sync to be successful, to be remembered and dependable.

Officially the worst tasting fish and chips ever, Blackpool is famous for its fish and chips but this place ruins its reputation, shocking food and lad behind counter needs some lessons in customer service, spent £23 should have gone to McDonald's over the road!!!!

We visited with our children and grandchildren, three of us ordered, the wait was long, the first two orders had been eaten before the final order was served, there was no acknowledgment or apology, the food was average the staff seemed to be waiting around not doing very much, wouldn't return

Visit this establishment with my family last Thursday evening, the food was ok, nothing special.The attitude of the staff was shocking inparticular an older women with grey hair, who's manner and attitude spoilt the whole visit.We will never visit that cafe again nor will we use the Coral Island amusements as they where, all attached. Very poor experience.

Came here last year, about the same time and the service was shocking. Came back, thought it might if changed. How wrong I was. Staff didn't pay any attention at all. Got served byTanya. Zero personality. Not even a hello. She just looked me and I told here what I wanted. When it came, even though we were eating in, it came in cardboard boxes which were just dumped on the side. Never told us they were ours, we just had to assume they were. Saves washing up I suppose but not very good for the environment. Chips and the fish were all very anaemic. Could have definitely done with being in the fryer for 5 mins longer. I won't be going back. After a year you think they would have learnt. Signs up saying 5 star award. Not quite sure what in or how old the signs are.

The chippy wasn’t very busy so we sat at a table and asked if it was table service. It wasn’t. We had to order at the counter and wait for it. We were shocked when our fish and chip meal was handed to us in a cardboard box. We said that we were ‘eating in’ and the server just nodded and handed us plastic cutlery with which to eat with.

My partner and a friend, had an enjoyable day out in Blackpool the only true blot on the whole day was this place. We were looking for a place to eat and could smell this place from the front promenade earlier in the day, we were looking ideally for a place to sit down and eat. So this place seemed the one. Well we turned up saw they were deep cleaning the seating area, so I asked firstly if they still doing eat in, to which an old woman replied stoutly no. My partner went first and asked for some fish and chips, to which he was served in a casual manner, and he paid, I then stepped up to purchase mine, she looked vacantly at me, I also requested for fish and chips. You would of thought I had just spat in her tea, the woman serving, tutted, sighed, and abruptly turned her back, and asked the chap at the fryer if we had any more, to which he said he will have to pop some in the fryer, the woman cattily turned to my friend and said does anyone else want fish? He responded with no. The woman at this couldn't believe her ears, she threw a glance at the clock signed and said WELL I suppose put four more in as we close in half an hour. She flatly said the price, and I paid not saying a word. I turned and said to my partner "Well that's too much like hard work." Clearly the woman must of heard me and responded with I have a such a stiff neck. To which I responded yeah, I get them too. My friend then ordered chips and sausage, in the disgruntled manor we seemed to be now served in. We patently waited for the food. My partner now knowing they were soon shutting, went and purchased the last two large sausages, which the woman sold eagerly. Eventually my fish was cooked and we all got our orders. Before leaving my friend was feeling particularly hungry, so went to purchase the last two small sausages, to which the woman told him he couldn't have them, as they were only sold with kids meals!

Worst fish and chips ever! Batter on the fish was awful and very undercooked chips weren't great, peas were cold and the kids meals are ridiculously small waste of money! They also need to review the prices they are charging day light robbery

Awful, weekend trip to Blackpool, stopped off here for something to eat. Chips were not particularly the best, and to get half way through and find this hair has really put me off. I won't visit again.

Some were hard but horrifically we were charged £2-50 for them. We paid it but felt robbed. No justification to charge so much especially as the chippies across the road were charging 60p less.

Well Green chips throughout my meal, some chips were rock hard, like they'd been fried for hours, and some were like they'd been re cooked! The fish itself was sat in the hot counter, so god knows how long it was actually sat there, but was slimy and full of grease. To be served in boxes to eat in was just strange! And the prices were ridiculous for what it was! AVOID! Go Mcdonalds over the road!

Came here today with my girlfriend and we both had fish and chips but didn't enjoy them at all. Probably the worste chippy we have ever had. The chips tasted like they had been sat there all day, some was even really hard and burnt like they had been in the fryer for hours. The fish didn't taste fresh and the batter was barely cooked. The place is very clean but that's all I can say was good. Will not be coming back

Wanted some Fish and Chips after a day at the pleasure beach. The restaurant was clean, the staff very friendly, ordered our food which came very quickly. The downfall is that you have it in cardboard boxes and have plastic cutlery in the restaurant, but the fish was lovely and the sausage in batter was nice. Well worth a visit.

The woman serving is so miserable. She didnt make me feel welcome at all. The chips were burnt and covered in brown bits. The batter on the fish was uncooked and soggy, yuk! I will never give this place a second chance. Avoid if you want a decent chippy tea on the beach front.

Every time we come to Blackpool we eat here on the very first night of our stay and it’s never let us down. Consistently fresh, tasty fish and chips. Bit of salt. Maybe vinegar. Tub of gravy. 2 large cokes. Less than £20. You can sit inside or outside. Staff are always cleaning up both areas so you’re never left to sit amongst the flies and seagulls squabbling over leftovers which has been evident around other local eateries.

Read some of the poor reviews but we had a lovely meal. The fish and chips were lovely (one of the nicest we have tried. Recommended

I attended this takeaway on Saturday evening with my family. We received an excellent service from all staff members. Our fish and chips were fresh & hot. We chose to eat in the restaurant & were provided with plastic cutlery, serviettes and plenty of salt and vinegar. The place was spotlessly clean and all staff members were friendly and helpful

We chose this restaurant for convenience when we had a meeting in Blackpool. The signs said it was an award winning place so we decided to give it a try. The fish and chips were good and the restaurant was clean. No table service so you order at the counter and carry the meals to the table yourself. It was reasonably busy but not crowded as it was quite early (around mid-day).

The fish, battered sausage and chips were all delicious, served by friendly helpful staff. The restaurant & toilets were very clean. Overall a great experience.

Our order was wrong (too many fish cakes) and the chips were either over or under cooked. The fish was OK but the fish cake was overpoweringly fishy. I know that sounds odd but normally the flavour is more subtle. All in all I don't think we would go again.

Was disappointed in the customer service that I was provided by the woman behind the counter. Was rude and obnoxious and miserable felt unwelcome. On top of this I was disappointed with the simplest meal (chips&curry; sauce) because at 1st I thought the curry sauce was gravy It was that dark. I proceeded to take a bite and the sauce was granualy and literally felt like it gave me heartburn. Plus the chips were undercooked and and was lumpy. And to top it off the vinegar I had basically made a river at the bottom of the tray for me to taste it and realise it’s coloured water. Something needs to be done or someone needs to be fired!!..

When I visit Blackpool I always go for fish and chips here. Great quality and good portions. Very enjoyable!

Lovely fish and chips! We asked for a lightly battered fish and chips and Ashley was happy to make it for us fresh! Great service with a smile. Definitely recommend!

Greasy spoon chippy. Food served on polystyrene or in a cardboard box with plastic cutlery. I think Gordon Ramsay would challenge any claim to the advertised "five star fish and quality award" Expect to pay extra for sauce.

Called in this fish and chip shop near Blackpool front. Ordered chips and mushy peas (I'm vegetarian)- chips were green in places and mushy peas didn't have much taste. My friend's fish was large, but she said she could get better at our local chippy!...

Great experience for us- handy as it's central, kids eat free, fish and chips were tasty. Ok not the cheapest but the place was clean and we could get a seat and the kids were happy.

We usually call in here on our trips to Blackpool as in the past it has always been very good,not sure if they have new staff but we were very disapointed this time.

Lovely food we tried the fish and chips and jumbo battered sausage and chips. Lovely crispy batter and the portions are more than ample. We chose to eat in, basically you just order your food/drinks and it is brought to your table. You are just eating out of the cardboard containers but that was fine. Indoor and outdoor seating provided and of course take-away
