We had booked in for afternoon tea for 6 of us to celebrate my friend’s mums 70th birthday. They called to let us know that some items want not be available the morning of, so we agreed to go through availability when we arrived. The tea room is absolutely beautiful. Very quirky, with old doors upcycled into tables, and beautiful mis-matched crockery, which added to the cosy, intimate feel of it. The food was amazing. Brilliant range of vegetarian and vegan options. Plus, so many different tea varieties. The star of the show for me, was the Norfolk lavender scone, with clotted cream and lemon curd. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they really couldn’t do enough for you. I’m so sorry I can’t remember the name of the lovely lady who looked after us, but you were fab. Amazing value for money, most of us left with our left overs in a box. It is dog friendly, which is a huge plus for me. I will most definitely be returning, as I had the best afternoon there.

Fantastic afternoon tea from start to finish. We were able to take the dog along inside which was an added bonus. Staff so pleasant. Advised us of menu and the specials and, gave recommendations to help us choose. Plenty of lovely food and fresh water for the dog. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. For a lovely relaxing afternoon tea with lots of really lovely fresh food, we would advise you to look no further than Biddys at Aylsham

A quaint little teashop for a nice lunch or afternoon tea. Extensive gluten free and vegan menus. Lovely staff, friendly and well informed about the menus. We spent a lively couple of hours here. Lively music playing which added to the ambience. An Rea for improvement would be to have more gluten free and dairy free cake options.

Our second visit to a very quaint, cosy tea room. Food was scrumptious, well presented and every sort of tea served in big rustic pots. Much better than Claridges! Full of character but don't go if you're expecting white table cloths and silver service. The waiting staff have always been very polite and pleasant. Vegan and veggie options and area for dogs.

Done an online booking for Afternoon Tea for 2, as had a gift voucher. Arrived in plenty of time, table was being cleaned. Then told people were still at our table. Had to sit on settee. Disappointed with one selection of sandwiches and cake was dry and disappointing. If you book a table I expect to be seated at a table. They did offer us some free cake as a way of an apology which we didn’t get when we left. Very disappointed. Shall not be going back

How to enjoy a visit to Biddy's Tea Rooms: 1. Ideally, go with someone you like. 2. Drink tea rather than coffee, there is a huge choice and if you are not sure about which one to choose, ask the staff, they are all approachable and will be delighted to help you. 3. Choose something to eat, don't worry if you need gluten free or even vegan, there will be excellent sandwich and cake options for you. 4. Put your phones away and talk to each other, you might be surprised how much you enjoy it. 5. Enjoy your food and drink (you will) and don't feel a need to rush anywhere. 6. If you can't finish your food (not unusual), the staff will box it up for you to take home. This approach always works for us.

I’ve been to Biddys in Aylsham for years, but never again ! Last week it was not a good experience. The food was nice but overly expensive. But the bad things were how dirty and dilapidated the place has become . The toilets are filthy , the ladies door was hanging off the rails and wouldn’t close or lock. The decor has definitely seen its day . The place needs a revamp , it’s gone so much downhill, such a shame . And it was so cold in there too. They’ve certainly lost my families custom .

Booked a table for afternoon tea at Biddy’s Aylsham. Thought we’d try it as was thinking of buying a voucher as a present for family for Christmas . As we were told which table (not shown to our table) service was initially polite and the food was excellent. However the experience was spoiled as each time my husband tried to attract the attention of a member of staff (both the one who initially took our order and another staff member) he was actually ignored!! I saw for myself that the member of staff was looking as she came in the direction of our table and then completely looked past as my husband started speaking to her - so rude!! This happened 3 times - so definitely not a mistake. My husband eventually went to counter to ask for more tea and milk. Two mins later the member of staff that had ignored us, came over to ask if we would like a top up of tea!! When it came, more water had been added to the large tea pot, but no further teabags had been added- so it was just slightly coloured hot water!! We would have asked for more tea bags but didn’t want to be ignored again. We were offered boxes to take food away without even checking that we had finished eating. Felt like they just want to get rid of customers as quickly as possible. We had been so looking forward to our afternoon tea. Good food, but the rude, unfriendly service really spoiled the afternoon for us. Needless to say we didn’t buy vouchers and we definitely won’t be returning to Biddy’s Aylsham.

So disappointed - cycled to Aylsham today hoping to have lunch in Biddys. On arrival, several vacant tables - no member of staff visible, so we hung around in the hope of being seated. Eventually a member of staff came through, carrying another customers order. Didn’t acknowledge that we were there, but just continued through to deliver the order. He then returned and said- ‘do you want a table.’ To which we replied in the affirmative, only to be told ‘there is a table over there - go and sit down but don’t expect anything for at least 20 minutes’ - in normal circumstances if we had been given the information in a more apologetic and professional manner, we would happily have sat down and waited, but due to the manner in which the man spoke to us, we decided to take our custom to another lovely cafe across the Market Place.

What an absolutely fabulous afternoon tea! The family and I all loved the fact that we could pick the flavour of our sandwich, scone and cake - it made the tea so individual. And with that the sandwich was made fresh. The scones and cakes were divine, one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had. Not being a tea drinker I had coffee, and the coffee was lovely. My only very slight criticism is that the pot of tea for two would have benefited from a tea cosy to keep it warm. The tea room is so welcoming and cosy and dog friendly. Would definitely return for another visit.

Our daughter bought us a voucher for afternoon Tea which we were very much looking forward to. We chose to go to the Aylsham venue rather than Norwich so that we could enjoy a visit to the town both before and after the event. Our time was booked for 12.00noon. We were shown to our table, everything was explained and we were invited to look at the beautiful selection of cakes, scones, teas and coffees available. The choice of sandwiches and various bread options..... So far so good. The place was busy but not crowded. My wife and I were really enjoying our food in a quaint little place..... However one of the waitresses said three times to us that they could provide boxes for anything we wanted to take home if we couldnt manage to eat it straight away.....! It got to 1.20 pm and we were just about to start to eat the final tier of what looked like delicious cake when the same waitress came to our table and said..... " The next people were here and could we please consider finishing up to vacate the table " ! At no time were we told that there was a time limit ,never mind a 90 minute time limit to enjoy our otherwise lovely afternoon tea. I have since checked out the website and to my knowledge there is nothing on there to say that the clock is being watched and a "fast food" mentality is enforced upon customers. I make a point of writing this review as a warning to others so that they can get a starting and leaving time agreed before the drive over 40 miles as we did to visit this place.

We went in to the unassuming tea shop, we were unbelievably amazed at the decor, ambience, cakes and teas. It was like going back to the good old days The music was 1940/1950's and it suited perfectly. The array of cakes was amazing, Jam sponge, flapjacks, sticky ginger cake and scones with different flavours. Now to the teas, more than 36, from buddy's blend to black tea and rose petals to raspberry leaf. My friend tried the buddy's blend, Earl Grey, orange, vanilla and rose petals. The smell was heavenly. You can mix your own blend or choose one of theirs. To my shame I had an oat milk latte. The ginger cake was heavenly. Bonus, it's dog friendly. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and we'd definitely go back

Few years since we have visited, the decor is now looking very tired and the standards have gone down hill. I know the cost of living has risen but £18 for an Afternoon Tea and the quantity we received seemed overpriced. The builders tea certainly wasn't what I class as a builders tea. Then when we were paying we noticed flies on the sausage rolls 🤢. I pointed this out to the waitress and she just giggled and said " oh we always have a problem with them" Well I'm sorry but if that's the case surely you need to put a cover over them

We visit Norfolk 3-4 times a year and every visit has to include at least one, and usually two, visits to Biddy's. Why? Well, here are a few reasons; firstly they have a superb selection of teas (if you want a cappuccino go elsewhere, this is a "tea room", secondly there is always a wide selection of delicious cakes all made on the premises, thirdly, their gluten free scones (cheese or fruit) are among the best we've ever tasted, fourthly, the staff are wonderful and committed to all their customers enjoying their visit and finally there are the furnishings, decor and ambience which create a quirky, individual and relaxed environment. Biddy's is truly a place to come to with friends or family when you are in no hurry and want to enjoy your conversations alongside whatever you choose to eat and drink.

My friend asked for white bread and got brown!Apart from from a slice of melted cheese on the top of the cheese scone, I would never have known it was one. Very doughy in the middle. Very unappetising.I asked for Earl Grey only to be told they hadn't any. Strange, as there was a Co-op next door, couldn't someone gave gone and got a pack from there? Instead I had to have the Lady Grey, which was dreadful. The tearoom wasn't very clean, and the cups still had tea stain inside them, and around the handles. The Server was not welcoming whatsoever. Totally uncommunicative, and unhelpful.Waste of money!

We popped in today as we're looking for a place to have a late breakfast. As we arrived I was reassured to see some hand sanitizer to use. We wore face masks to order and obviously removed them when we were seated and safety out of people's way. A girl wiped down the table well before we sat down. Tables were spaced a good way apart. We were told that there were no breakfast items available but only what was in the deli which although was disappointing I can't mark down for that because they told us straight away. We still decided to stay because what was behind the glass looked lovely. I ordered a sausage roll as I didn't fancy a cake for breakfast although they did look amazing. My partner ordered an appley cake with icing. They didn't have latte or decaf coffee so my partner had a regular coffee, again disappointing but apparently the coffee was delicious and she ended up having another one. I can't have caffeine due to health but was offered decaf tea which was lovely and came in a large pot. I thought it might be weak as the pot was large but instead was a lovely strength. My sausage roll came well presented with a side salad including a dressing (I think it was reduced balsamic vinegar), and a little glass pot (not plastic thankfully) of chutney. I was disappointed that the sausage roll was cold. I for some reason assumed it would have been warm. If I visited again I will know to ask if they are able to warm it through. I should have asked them upon trying it so I can't hold it against them but I'm an introvert so I'd rather eat a plate of cockroaches than do anything to cause any kind of scene or inconvenience. But it was still nice. What spoilt our visit was a woman coming in with no mask, walking around freely in the cafe including right near our table. No members of staff said anything to her. She didn't use hand sanitizer either. Then she sat down on a table next to us with a dog and I'm allergic to dogs. Nobody asked us if that was ok, and nobody asked the lady to wear her mask until she was seated away from everyone else. I went to use the bathroom and had to walk right next to a table squashed next to the entrance of the restroom. A woman at the table looked at me and started coughing at me. There is no opportunity to be further away from that table than about a metre if wanting to use the bathroom. This makes social distancing impossible if you have a full bladder from all that tea! So if that coughing lady was carrying Covid then chances are that now I am too. Bathroom was again problematic for Covid reasons. There is a choice of two cubicles. I went in, had to fiddle with the locks as it was a sliding door. There was plenty of toilet roll, all out above the toilet seat, probably not the most hygienic way to store it but better than having no loo roll. There was no hand wash coming out of the pump so I had to open the lid and stick my finger to get some dregs. I was glad to see paper towels to dry my hands instead of an old towel which I was expecting by this time. Then of course I had to get out. After all the faff of washing my hands I then and to touch the locks again anyway on my way out. There really should then be some hand sanitizer once you're out of the cubicle as I felt far from clean by that point. This is a big deal for us as it was our first time out in ages and we are a shielding family. We live with vulnerable people and now I'm worried about carrying something back with me to them. I fully intended to tell a member of staff about the lack of hand wash on leaving but we had to battle with our toddler who kept losing wellies and wanting to talk to everyone so I forgot. So basically the food and drinks were superb but the Covid protection needs modifying. I could have just said that.

Anyway I found biddys information online and found you are open for takeaways. The lady that helped us was amazing, I believe her name was vic or Vicky (she had bright hair). She talked me through everything that was available. My children also have allergies, and she was so patient and helpful to go through all that was available for them as well as make sure it was all packaged separately. She was so friendly and helpful that I can’t wait to come back when you are open fully with the family so we can sit in! My girls would love it ! Thanks

We all fancied a sweet treat so my partner went down to biddys to get some cake. It was lovely we had a brownie, caramel shortbread, a Bakewell, a biscoff rocky road and a scotch egg brownie. We have only tried three so far as so decadent and sweet we saved them for tomorrow. The brownie was perfect! Crunchy on the outside gooey on the inside. With bursts of chocolate running through. My husband has the caramel shortbread and said that was the best one he has ever had! As the one he had on a visit before was not the best but this made up for it. The bakewell was okay. Will update tomorrow when try the other cakes but overall amazing. Husband also said that the staff where helpful and friendly. Also queuing and getting in and out of the shop to order was super easy.

Great stop yesterday for a couple of teas and scones. Place was quiet good social distance measures in place we chose to sit out front, so many wonderful looking cakes to chose from. The waiter recommended the cheese scone and he wasn’t wrong it was delicious and all reasonably priced.Glad we stopped here would visit again just to try one of their gorgeous looking cakes

Perhaps we were unlucky this afternoon it being the beginning of half term but friend and I popped in for a coffee It was busy and we were asked if we had booked to which I replied no we only want a coffee please We were shown a table through the back which was fine but then waited for 15 minutes in a queue to order 2 filter coffees advertised with cream or milk we decided cream would be nice but were told they didn’t have any left but we could have sweetened cream but that would be like having sugar in our coffee so we had no choice but to have milk Now this tearoom is directly opposite a Co op so why I thought couldn’t one of the staff and I saw 4 of them pop across and buy some cream it would have taken less than 5 minutes However we told sorry it has to be milk so we said okay not what we want but we’ll have that Coffee then came quite quickly but was lukewarm and the cold milk made the coffee even colder so my friend asked for hers to be put in the microwave which they didThis is not my idea of a good cafe and at £2.75 for a small filter coffee not that cheap either I then queued another 10 minutes to pay for them with no apology for the wait from the girl at the tillSo we definitely won’t be going there again service was poor Perhaps if you are having their full afternoon tea at £14.95 pp you get a hotter drink and cream with it as advertised

Excellent dog friendly tearooms. Have visited before but were here to sample the cream tea - a birthday treat from youngest daughter to her Mum. Cannot fault the food, the service or the ambiance - possibly the biggest (and tastiest) spicy fruit scones we had ever had. Lovely experience and am sure we will return.

We stumbled across Biddy’s Tea Room when looking for a quick bite for lunch. Great selection of sandwiches and homemade savoury items for lunch. We had a sausage roll, scotch egg and ham, Brie and chilli jam sandwiches - all delicious. They also have a fantastic selection of teas - would love to return one day to sample their afternoon or high tea. Lovely decor and atmosphere.

The portion size of the Bakewell tart with raspberry jam was immense. And more than enough to share. This was the same for all their cakes and baked goods. Large pots of tea served with mismatch cups. Lots of memorabilia on the walls. British feel to the decor with a hint of Alice In Wonderland because of the wall with lots of oversized clocks. Friendly service. Relaxed setting. Cozy.

Lovely afternoon tea. Nice choice of freshly made sandwiches (I had goats cheese with fig relish and honey) a giant delicious scone and our choice of a big slab of cake or tray bake. All washed down with copious amounts of tea. There is a huge selection of tea blends, spoilt for choice. Food was delicious. We couldn’t eat it all, so our leftover cake was boxed up so we could have it later at home. Lovely experience, will come again

I visited here with my husband for some takeaway cakes. We have both been before. There is no dedicated parking but it is in the central square in Aylsham. If you're lucky you can get a space in the square but this isn't often. There is a free car park nearby but this is full more often than not. There is paid parking close by. We both chose a millionaire's shortbread to take home. It's not a traditional version as the shortbread isn't really shortbread and the caramel seems to have coconut or something in it. But we both like it. We also chose a brownie and a maple sponge cake to try. Now. The cakes always look AMAZING. But we find more often than not that they look much nicer than they actually taste. The flavour and texture just isn't quite there and we end up leaving most of the cakes we try (apart from the millionaire's). And their 'stamp card' offer? Ridiculous! You recieve one stamp every time you spend £5 on cake. Simple, you may think. But if you spend £12 on cakes in one transaction, you still only get one stamp. But if I pay for two cakes in one transaction then another two cakes straight afterwards, I get two stamps. So this is what I do. Every single time. Holding up the queue (because often their card machine signal crashes and they need to reset the machine) and because the service isn't the fastest anyway and slow everything down. You should get a stamp for EVERY £5 you spend on cakes. It's a crazy system. I've asked before if they can just stamp the card twice and I'll pay once, but they say no so I split the transaction up and get two stamps anyway and they get the same amount of money. Ridiculous. We have also found that the cakes vary massively in portion sizes. With the millionaire's shortbread for example, we will buy two and one can easily be twice the size of the other one. and we pay the same price for both! They also have lovely shaped cakes at the front of the cabinet but you always get served a mishaped, melted lump from the back. We've often got home with our cakes and found that half the shortbread from the bottom is missing. The cakes are always very sweaty and melted too. They also give you them to takeaway in open boxes in a paper bag. Most of their cakes have toppings or 'soft' tops to them and the bag just sits on top of the cakes and pulls most of the topping away with it. Carrying one is doable if you are careful. But if you have multiple cakes in multiple bags then it's impossible to prevent this. Why they can't give you a cardboard box with a lid is beyond me. The staff are always quite abrupt and a bit scatty. Service isn't great. We go to Biddy's for takeaway cake when we're close to home and want a quick treat and because we haven't found anywhere else as close to home yet to buy cakes from. But I am getting a bit tired of being served the worst cakes from the bunch, it's silly stamp system and sub-par flavours.

I have been here quite a few times, it’s always hit & miss, I want to like it, but leave feeling disappointed. My last visit I caught up with a friend, we arrived 40 minutes after they had officially opened, but only 2 cakes out, wanted to sit outside in the courtyard which the waitress said was fine, door locked, so went back to the till, she went in the kitchen to come back out to tell us we can’t sit out there until 11am! 1 other couple in the cafe so not busy, I asked what the cakes were, a man pointed at them, with no indication of what any of them were, I had to ask again, what they were, he seemed a bit annoyed (maybe busy or staff haven’t turned up) we sat down & the chairs I know are rustic, but were very uncomfortable, cake I got, which seems to be the norm now is the small dry one from back of the stack rather than nice plump fresh looking one at front! Dry, tasteless & tea pot felt grubby, such a shame, the staff don’t seem to have their hearts in it, feeling an annoyance for asking a question about what the cakes are isn’t great, out of all of my experiences here it’s been 70/30 average to fair, I don’t like leaving negative reviews as want local independent businesses to thrive, I just feel they really need to focus on customer service & timely service, as there is so much competition locally & it’s such a charming place, needs the heart back in it

As we stood outside the tearoom an elderly lady stopped and told us her Granny had lived there about 70 years ago. Such a beautiful old building. There seemed to be a good age demographic enjoying the wonderful food on offer. 1940s music quietly playing in the background accompanied by the tin teapot for my mint tea brought the atmosphere together. My husband went for the amazing looking sausage roll and when it came it also had a side salad and the cutest little jar of delicious chutney. So I started on his salad first (he doesn’t do salad) followed by my piece of salted caramel brownie, equally as good. Unlimited coffee refills. Good value at around £12 for everything including the atmosphere!

just returned home from a lovely afternoon tea. The staff were friendly, polite and couldn't do enough for us, having reserved a seat in a cooler part of the tea room but giving us the option to go outside which we chose to do. The food was excellent, sandwiches lovely and fresh, scones warm and the slices of cake were generous in size and tasted great. This was a lovely afternoon treat and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Biddys to anyone.

On arrival to Aylsham, we decided we wanted to get a light lunch before heading off to where we were staying for the weekend. Biddy’s stood out to me as I love a quirky little tea room, especially with homemade food. The staff were very apologetic for the slight wait, but we didn’t mind. We sat out in the garden/patio and it was very pleasant. They also allow dogs! We ordered home made Goats Cheese Tart which came with side salad and coleslaw- BEAUTIFUL. We also had tea and filtered coffee, when we ran out, a very kind waitress came and offered us refills. As the food had been so good, we decided that home made cake was a must. Again, it was absolutely gorgeous. All in all, a reasonable, top quality place with smiley staff! Would definitely go back!

This tearoom is one of the most outstanding places to indulge in Norfolk. Amazing sandwiches, awesome scones a incredible cakes. Afternoon tea is a must so you can sample a bit of everything on offer and then come back again to try a different cake. Half afternoon teas are available for those who can’t manage the full tea. Selection of great tea to compliment the food so just order sit back and enjoy as you will be hard pressed to not feel satisfied after a trip to Biddys.

We visited yesterday for afternoon tea for my friends birthday treat. When we arrived we waited at the counter to be seated. A couple of members of staff passed us several times but nobody acknowledged us. I understand they were busy but just a simple ‘I’ll be with you in a moment’ or even a hello would have made us feel a bit more welcome! My friend had booked a table online but there was no record of the booking. The staff member continued to try and prove we hadn’t made a booking even though there was room for us. When we were seated the afternoon tea was explained to us. The staff member was very helpful friendly and we felt at ease. We chose to share the ham, chilli jam and Brie and Stilton and walnut sandwiches. We also got a cheese scone and a fruit scone, and some millionaires shortbread and bake well tart. All was absolutely lovely as well as a large pot of tea. Definitely worth the few stumbling blocks when we first arrived. I couldn’t manage my last cake and was offered a box.

Lovely staff, friendly and helpful. Disappointed in my coffee though as I ordered an iced caramel latte, hoping it would be as good or better than the chilled ones from supermarkets. I'm sure it would be to some peoples' tastes but I felt it lacked flavour and body. I'll definitely go back to Costa but will get something else next time

Really enjoyed my food and the coffee was nice. The noise was unbelievable and it's really not that much of a big area and it wasnt like there was a large group at a table making lots of noise. We couldn't hear ourselves speaking to each other. Decor was nice. The exterior windows need a good clean. Not a lot of parking outside.
