The £9.50 three course lunchtime deal was a good way to experience Bibigo for the first time. Thank goodness I didn't fork on 'a la carte', principally because the food isn't very good.Service was mediocre and did not merit the 12.5% service charge. Aspals Vintage Cru is on the drinks list; Aspals 'ordinaire' was served.I really hope that the food presented here is not representative of authentic Korean cuisine. If so, they've got more than Kim Jong-un to worry about. The only authentic touch was our Korean/Asian waitress. I couldn't tell for sure where she was from, and I didn't feel comfortable asking. She had a face on her that could curdle milk from 20 paces. She was not having a good time and neither was I.

I met up with my friend and decided to have Korean Food. The place looked nice and we were seated right away. At first the manager was seating us right in the corner, we asked to sit somewhere else (who likes sitting right in the corner against the wall??). We were given a menu and time to look before asking what drinks to order (not like other restaurants where as soon as you sit down you are pressured into ordering drinks without looking at the menu, this annoys me so much) The restaurant offers a set menu meal for £13 so my friend and I ordered from the set menu and ordered a couple of extras from the main menu too. The food tasted nice except for the beef skewers, it was nice but there were 2 slices of beef that had been cut too thick and it was a bit chewy, at the end we just couldn't eat it. The creme brûlée dessert was so good that I didn't have to share it with my friend. I recommend this restaurant:)

We went to Bibigo near the Angel late-ish on a Friday night after a show at nearby Sadlers Wells. It was close to full, with a nice, buzzy atmosphere. They have a "2 dishes for £10" dinner offer and we ate off that menu, with Korean salad and red chicken to start, followed by charcoal-grilled beef and chicken. All the food was really tasty and although we're not deep experts on Korean food, we have eaten in "little Seoul" in New Malden several times as I used to live nearby; and I have spent a week in Korea on business, and the food here was not surprising. Portions on this £10 menu are not huge, but with a bowl of rice, £1 extra, it's enough if you're not really hungry. Food value was great, wine was less so as quite expensive, although good quality. Overall Bibigo certainly feels upmarket in food and surroundings compared with Banana Tree opposite - both are good, it depends on your mood. We'll definitely be back at Bibigo and look forward to trying more dishes off the main menu.

I visited here for lunch and on arrival had to wait about five/ten minutes to be seated as all staff where pre occupied. Once seated I really wanted to order the Kimchi stew with tofu, yet it had pork in the dish which I cannot eat, so I asked if this could be removed from the dish... I was told this wasn't an option as all food was pre prepared which was disappointing to hear. I feel they should definitely have options to adjust certain ingredients in their dishes in order to cater to individuals needs, as this is usually the norm in most restaurants now. Overall nice atmosphere yet probably will visit elsewhere for Korean cuisine in future.

What Wetherspoons has done for pub food, Bibigo has done for Korean cuisine. It isn't completely bad, but was mostly just average. It seems that Bibigo works more on an 'assembly line' system, which negatively affected our experience. We had a reservation for dinner and were seated promptly. The staff were friendly and mostly professional (see below).Bibigo runs several great specials, including a £10 two-course meal of a starter and main. My wife and I both chose the Dolsot (Hot Pot) Bibimbap (beef for me, tofu for my wife), along with another starter of the Grilled Scallops. We were a bit confused when the waiter asked if we wanted a fried egg with the Bibimbap, as an egg is generally considered part of the dish. I asked that the scallops arrive first, but they were eventually brought out after the two starters which were included in our meal. Neither was bad, but not great either. The scallops, when they arrived, *were* spectacular. Perfectly done and extremely tasty. Definitely the best part of the meal, and worth the £9 cost, even if it is only four scallops.Once the starters were cleared my main arrived first The portion was smaller than normal, but I wasn't put out by this, considering it is part of a meal deal. I *was* surprised that all of the ingredients were already completely cooked, and the egg was literally already completely fried up. What is the point of Dolsot Bibimbap if you don't get to mix everything together and cook it in the piping hot bowl in front of you? The dish itself was below average, although the chili sauce provided some more flavour. The big problem started when my wife's dish arrived 5-7 minutes after mine, and it was clear that the bowl was not properly heated. It was barely lukewarm to the touch (Dolsot/hot pots should be sizzling when they come out, and will burn your skin in a second if touched). So cold, in fact, that the rice directly touching the bowl was barely warm even after several minutes. We were able to get the attention of a member of staff and brought this to their attention. She first asked if we would like the kitchen to 'warm it up' for my wife. I politely asked instead that a new dish be prepared in a fresh pot, which she quickly agreed to. Once again, what is the point of ordering Dolsot if it is cooked for you?By the point my wife's meal finally arrived we were 15-17 minutes past when mine first came to the table. Very disappointing. Overall the staff were kind ind and helpful, except for the slight misstep regarding asking for my wife's meal to be warmed up. However the generally low average quality of the food minus the scallops, disregard for a simple request of when we wanted which dish brought out, and the fact that the Dolsot Bibimbap was presented wrong in both style (all ingredients already cooked), and prep (my wife's obviously should never have left the kitchen like that) were awful. Living outside of London, having Korean is typically one of our go-to meals when we are in the city. Bibigo is only worthe effort for a quick, cheap meal. If you are looking for quality there are plenty of other, better options nearby, and in London as a whole.

We came here as, surprisingly, the 3 places we tried, at 7pm on a Monday night nearby, were all full. Bibigo was empty - that should have been a clue. The waiters were nice enough, and the menus were a bit of a mis-match. I opted for the Kimchi and tofu starter. It came and was bigger than most main courses, which though generous is strange for a starter. The kimchi was full of pork, which I had not noticed. The tofu appeared not to be cooked and was completely tasteless. a bit pointless.I then opted for the rice bowl with seafood. This included a few bits of again either bland or really tough seafood and some rice. It was unseasoned and extremely bland. My wife and daughters were also rather unimpressed with their food. All said it was bland and unseasoned, which is very unusual for a Korean place. Of all the food we ate, only the potstickers were anywhere near decent.I really would not recommend this place. and would rather wish we had queued at the other places.

Having been to Seoul and loving Korean food, we came with high expectations... No, this was not we were looking for. Nice ambience, but waiters were non Korean, but came on with some Korean tips like mix your Soju with beer... Drinks overpriced (a bottle of Soju for a whopping £12.50, £1.50 in Seoul). I've had Seafood Rice, served topped with a tiny mix of a frozen kind of "sea food mix" from a bag. I wish I would have get at least one proper prawn and a few proper squid pieces.... Nothing at all. Bibigo does a two course lunch set for 7 pounds, which is a good value. You can choose a starter out of four or five different options and a main among three options. Red chicken and calamari starters were delicious and I chose hot stone bibimbap for a main, and it too was tasty. The rice in piping hot stone dish continued to stay piping hot until I finished it. Bulgogi was a bit disappointing as it seemed overcooked and a bit tough. We ordered black pudding (soondae) but it came cold, so I had to ask it to be reheated. Even after being reheated, it was dry and not so tasty. I have one slight complaint about hot stone bibimbap, however. You have to pay extra £1 for fried egg and beef each, but to me, they are essential ingredients that make bibimbap complete. I don't think these should be something we pay extra for, and when waiter asked whether I wanted egg and beef, without much thought I nodded. Even if it is my fault that I didn't read the menu properly, I felt a bit cheated when I received the bill for extra £2 added. In sum, it is a restaurant with nice atmosphere and lunch set still provides good value, but shame about extras they charge for what is essentially indispensable ingredients for bibimbap.

Attentive service. Quick delivery of the food. Nice atmosphere; calming, quiet (even though that part of the restaurant was full). I had two small plates; was very good value. Would good back to try other food options.

The food at Bibigo is delicious and they have a £7 2 course lunch menu which is excellent value. Service was a little slow with the rice for our main dishes coming out over 10 minutes after the mains arrived. It is a lovely restaurant though and will definitely be heading back again.

Was advised by the waiter nothing is gluten free. Nothing against the food obviously and it did smell good. Have to fill in one hundred words to post so will also say I liked the ambience & was going to order Argentinian red

We went here for lunch, which is priced at £7 for two courses, with Korean tea £1.50 extra. The service was fast and attentive, even though the restaurant was busy.I had red chicken for starters, which was superb and unusual, and rice with mixed seafood in a sizzling container for main course. The tea was aromatic and tasty, with a slight herbal sweetness. Lovely. I am not used to Korean food, but what I have tasted of it so far is excellent.

We ordered the Korean salad & seafood pancake to start as sharing dishes. Both were very tasty & arrived promptly. For mains (again to share) the beef brisket soup & the spicy squid / pork. Both were excellent.Would definitely return & try other dishes. Helpfully there are photos of the dishes on the menu & our portions were at least if not larger then we expected. Highly impressed by the taste & quality. Most dishes are quite spicy so delicate palates should check with the staff about the hot factor per plate.Dessert was the thief of the fifth star though - the Korean gold fish waffle was not at the same standard of the other dishes so I'd recommend skipping this dessert. There are two branches & I'd like to try the soho locale soon.

As you walk in the ambience is modern and calm. When the waiter came over he was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. The food itself was exquisite, we ordered the monkfish with beansprouts, calamari, scallops, red chicken and chicken thigh. The desserts were also amazing, the ice cream was made fresh in the kitchen! Lee is a legend :)

I love Asian food and I love spicythis however was disappointing- the way everything was presented looked as if it was pre-made fast food- if it hadn't been spicy I would have said the food was bland. It was just boring food- the service was strange: nothing really wrong, but nothing really nice or right either- for what it was it was too expensiveI will not go back

popped in on my way to Sadler's Wells... what a lovely surprise! thought the food was great and great value - there is a lunch menu for £7 (starter and main). I also decided to have a desert and picked the korean waffle. loved the presentation as it came in a fish shape.

I liked that I could eat without smelling bbq afterwards. they had a £7 offer for lunch and was totally worth it for the main. Good service as the restaurant was quite empty (12 on the dot). It is nice inside as you can see the kitchen. I will go back.

Fantastic lunch menu for £7.00. Got a flyer from Angel tube and went there one wet afternoon in July. Fantastic range of dishes on the main menu, not bad on the lunch menu either. Excellent food washed down with Korean tea all with efficient service and great pricing.

Bibigo is a good restaurant, not exceptional but just good. They food is very tasty while some dishes are better than others. What is a big plus for them is they offer a menu deal during dinner for 13 gbp, which includes a mixed salad, small starter and a normal dish. Big eaters may want to order an extra dish though with that menu deal. Other than that I would say bibigo is just really worth a visit.

Despite enjoying Asian cuisine in general, at the dawn of my 29th year of life I realized I had never ventured into Korean’s cuisine. So, recently, I was invited to join a dinner in Bibigo with friends.Founded by Hee Young Noh, star of Masterchef Korea, Bibigo first landed in London in the of heart of Soho and it has just opened its second home in Islington, across from Angel station. The space is huge, with a great wall-length bar that mixes up classics and korean cocktails and a wide 90-seater restaurant reigned by a glassed semi-opened kitchen. The decor is pretty stark yet sophisticated with a subtle lighting, high ceilings, wooden chairs and floor to ceiling windows overlooking the busy road.Their specialities are Korean small plates and traditional dishes like beef bulgogi, bibimbap, kimchi stew and spicy BBQ chicken. The menu comes generous with a decent selection of dishes. We started with a few drinks at the bar. Once seated at our table, we ordered a selection of small plates to share that included Pajeon (korean pancake with squid, leek, mussels and shrimps), courgette pancake, green tacos with tofu and chive dumplings. As a main we all opted for different choices that included grilled baby chicken, Korean spicy ramyun and squid and pork bulgogi, all mostly served on hot stones or in typical bowls. The menu is a bit pricey, the wine list extensive and the service was formal. The team were a bit on the cold side, there was not any introduction to Korean food, interaction of any sort – just silent robotic service. With this being my first time having Korean food, I can not compare it with other Korean culinary experience, however the food tasted fresh, nice and healthy – so it is certainly good starting point.

Great Korean food, Korean people dining there is a great sign. The food exceeded expectations and was very reasonable, at lunchtime you can get two courses for £7. My husband and I shared, the dumplings were tasty and red chicken was delicious. Beef main course was tasty and tender. Can't wait for my next visit

Came here for Lunch and ordered from the set menu - two courses for £7 [great price!]. Took a while to get an order in; waiter was very abrupt, no smile or small talk. 60% of the table got their drinks, the rest had to wait. One had to wait nearly 15 minutes for hers after everyone else got theirs, even after asking twice for it. She could see it sitting on the bar. No apology was received. I ordered the Tofu Japchae as a "starter", which was quite a large starter but good. One person got their starter about 10 minutes before the rest of us. It was a salad, so it could sit, but still not great. For main, I had beef Bulgogi - it was cold but still very tasty. It came first, the other people at the table had to wait a few minutes after for theirs. The food was too cold to wait for the other food to arrive. I ordered a side of "Kimchi" - never had Kimchi like it [I've had it elsewhere] - it tasted awful. Overall, food was okay, especially considering the price. Let down immensely by the service, which spoilt it for me. As we were leaving [putting coats on], a waitress tried to put food down on our table. The waiter seemed angry the whole time, which hopefully wasn't a reflection on us, and it made us uneasy the whole visit in case we pissed him off.

Went for a casual midweek meal with some friends to try the set dinner menu. The food was mostly tasty, however the timing of the food and drinks left a lot to be desired. Our starters arrived before our drinks did, and we had to ask twice before getting our table water. With the main course, mine arrived 10 minutes before my friends did, which meant it was cold before I got to enjoy it. They also brought out my friend's side order of rice with my meal, which meant that it was cold before she got her main. Getting the attention of the waiters wasn't easy throughout the meal, which meant that a lot of the time we were preoccupied with trying to get our food/drinks. The Bibigo near Soho is much better.

We live nearby and we always pass by this big and modern restaurant, so one night we had friends over we actually decided to go in. I'm so glad we did, we definitely found a gem in our neighbourhood that night! I strongly advise to taste the grilled scallops, the glass noodles (these are my favourite ever), the skewers and the traditional bulgogi. The latter is melt-in-the-mouth beef bursting with flavour. After that first time we also ordered a few times for home delivery through Deliveroo and I must say the quality of this restaurant can even withstand the food being delivered a bit less warm. The price is not exactly cheap but acceptable and in line with the quality. Very nice cocktails too if you're into that. I suspect we'll be going back again and again.

Tried a wide selection of dishes and all very tasty and recommended. Was disappointed the menu lacked 2 classic dishes you get in all Korean restaurants: Dwaenjang Stew (Soybean Seafood Broth)Sundubu Stew (Spicy Seafood with Soft Tofu)Waiters were very nice but always took a while to get their attention as they did not seem to be around, even though it was a quiet night.

A sophisticated dining experience with authentic Korean food. We had beef, spring onion and mushroom skewers with the egg soufflé to start. The skewers were divine but could have been improved with some dipping sauce. The egg soufflé was sweeter than expected and I couldn't eat more than a few mouthfuls. For main I ordered the Korean pork spicy Ramyun. After falling in love with Japanese pork ramen, this was very similar. The noodles were more like cheap packet noodles from a supermarket, but the rest of the dish was great. We shared the fig crème brulé for dessert. I have never has brulé before and it was lovely! The décor was modern and airy, but very quiet because there were only a few diners. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed. The background music was great, until they changed it for something more upbeat.. It was rather pricey for the small portions. We were wondering how such a large restaurant, next to a main station, in an expensive area could afford to be open with so little diners... £7 service charge and £8 VAT for two people! I would visit again, but perhaps save it for a special occasion.

The food here is tasty but the service is a bit lacking. Having just finished our main course at 9pm on a Saturday night we were approached by a waitress who said 'the kitchen is about to close, would you like to order anything else?' to which we felt that's our cue to leave! So we ordered the bill and left promptly. On exiting we questioned the waitress as to why the kitchen was closing so early on a Saturday night- she informed us that the kitchen had now changed their mind and we're staying open until 10! Poor management and poor customer service!

This is a new addition to Islington and the second branch of a small chain of Korean restaurants. On this experience, it's worth a try once but I'm not sure I'd go there again. It's a very modern setting (on the ground floor of an office building) with the industrial chic look, ducting and lots of hard edges, and it didn't feel very welcoming or comfortable. The staff were very friendly (although not at all Korean - they seemed to come from all over the world except Korea) but service was a bit random. Perhaps this was because the restaurant is so new, but our starters arrived at different times and there were several items missing from the menu. The food itself is interesting and good value. We tried a couple of their starters - the seafood pancake was very tasty although the calamari was a tiny portion (and it arrived 10 minutes after the first starter). For our mains we had the grilled baby chicken (good value at £8) and the bulgogi, chargrilled beef served over a hotplate. This latter was very dry and it desperately needed some sauce - serving it on a hot plate just made it progressively drier and tougher. We had a bowl of rice and their nahmul "platter" - three tiny portions of radish, spinach and beansprouts - and altogether it made for an interesting meal. With a bottle of wine and shared ice cream for dessert, we paid £78 which is very good value. The overall experience was a bit disappointing though - as I say, worth trying once.

Visited with my partner last Thursday, early evening. Pleasant greeting and quickly seated with menus. The place is quite nice - clearly a lot of money spent kitting it out, but felt just a bit sterile. After waiting for over 5 minutes my partner went looking for someone to give a drinks order to....... Not a good start. When the drinks arrived we ordered from the fixed price evening meal and waited a short while for the salad which we enjoyed. This was followed by our mains, a red chicken dish and a shredded beef dish - chicken good, beef a bit unimpressive. We had a side of kamichi which my partner liked but didn't do it for me.So, a relatively new restaurant (a branch of a chain) which may take a little while to smooth out a few wrinkles. Right now not overkeen to return.
