Beza Vegan Food in Southwark

Great food and friendly service. Everything is vegan which is great. Delicious and authentic Ethiopian food. Highly recommend this place.

We were in London for the Abba show and really like Ethiopian food, so we sought this place out mid afternoon. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious and piping hot. My partner had an Ethiopian beer (or two) and loved it. While we are not vegan, we certainly did not feel we missed meat in our meal. We finished with the traditional coffee and shared pieces of lemon cake and carrot cake which were really flavoursome. The service throughout was friendly and polite. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Location molto moderna ma comunque caratteristica, con vari accenni alla loro cultura (es. i tavoli). Servizio velocissimo e molto disponibili alle richieste del cliente. Cucina tradizionale etiope, in cucina c’è solo una signora molto garbata e bravissima. Assolutamente da riprovare. Ps. Se non mangiate piccante evitare assolutamente la salsa rossa nella Ethiopian salad ;)

I first had a meal with family at Beza about 6 months ago and couldn’t stop thinking about the food. When I found myself at a loose end in London, it was the first place I thought of, and I gladly spent half an hour on the tube to get there. The food was just as good as I remembered and so reasonably priced for the variety of different things you get to try on the platter. I’m sure I will be back again!

I arrived at the restaurant where I was advised by the host that I was required to book a table in order to eat at the restaurant. She informed me that since I had not book in advance I would not be able to dine at the restaurant on 26/3/2022. I preceded to book a table for 19.30, when my guest and I arrived the same host that I spoke to earlier advised us that tables were available. I ordered my dinner, water and Tea. I asked the waitress for a pot of tea instead of the two cups that were provided us. The waitress informed me that a pot of tea was at an additional cost. Although, I explained that I wanted a pot of tea. As I ate my meal I observed the waitress speaking to her colleague about my request for a pot of tea. Fifteen minutes later the head cook came over to my table with a tray of two mini white/blue tea pots. I advised her that I did not request additional tea. The head cook left one mini pot of tea on my table. I was extremely surprised when my guest attempted to pour a very weak cup of tea into the cups provided. The three member of staff on duty made us feel uncomfortable as the only two black guest at the restaurant. The quality of service was extremely poor. I would not recommend this restaurant as I have had fantastic service from Zeret Kitchen where the service is extremely wonderful.

If you go with one person you'll have a good experience and more food than you can probably eat. Sadly there were five of us and they gave us, with no exaggeration, about 10% more food (on the same platter) than the two people sitting next to us. We couldn't believe the unfairness of portioning! We all thought another platter the same size was coming, but it never came. We were all hungry when it was finished. Service was so painfully slow that when I asked to buy more portions they had "run out of food". A restaurant running out of food sounds as astonishing as leaving an Ethiopean restaurant hungry, I had to get a takeway from another restaurant on the way home. One that doesn't run out of food on a Friday night.

My daughter treated me to this wonderful lunch of the 2 people combo dish to share, which has some great flavours to dip into. We also enjoyed a delicious passion fruit drink and traditional coffee afterwards. Interesting decor and good portion sizes.

Very, very tasty vegan food. I was impressed by the subtle flavours for many of the stews placed on the injera; my husband who is not vegan in particularly loved the red lentils in the middle. I also really liked the mushrooms and the white sauce drizzled on one section. The injera is darker than normal and has a bit of a lime taste in additon to the typical sour injera flavour. It’s quite nice. The plate for two is HUGE and we had leftovers. The interior is industrial + cozy at the same time. Light music playing in the background. The small staff is efficient and pleasant. Would definitely return! At £14 a head, a great bargain for dinner (and lunch leftovers)

Never had Ethiopian food before and this was an amazing experience. A £44 platter easily fed four of us and the food was delicious and all vegan. It was great to be able to taste a bit of everything. I wish I lived nearby because I’d be eating there all the time. Even two months later I’m still thinking about how good the meal was and telling people how lovely Ethiopian cuisine is. We were lucky that it was quite hot for an October evening so we could sit outside. It was a lovely experience to all share the food and try a new cuisine for the first time together. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Can’t rate this place highly enough. Any time I have the option to eat Ethiopian in the future I will take it, all because of the experience at Bex’s!

Rudest staff ever, poorest customer service ever. The lady was hardly talking, just teeth-sucking and rolling her eyes whenever I asked her for something. So disgusted by her attitude that I just left.

The food here not only satiated my hunger, but really lightened my soul. We ordered the sharing platter for 2 which included all the mains served on injera with complimentary chilli sauces. The food was faultless. Each dish was not only delicious, but surprisingly complex and unique. I was trying each individual dish to find one that I didn't like as much but couldn't find anything that fell short. Even the salad was made lovingly and packed full of flavour. Amazing. To finish our meal we had Ethiopian coffee lattes which were incredibly smooth and rich. Delicious. If you want to enjoy food that's clearly been made with love, visit this place. It's a must for both vegans and non-vegans!

Delicious food and super attentive and friendly team! Booked a table for outside but it started raining during the day (London, I know I should’ve known better) but for the team at Bezas no problem - quickly was a table inside arranged for us and the evening could Beginn. You basically have 1 set menu with all the delicious food on it, you just pick for how many person. It would have been nice to have a little guide available so you know what it is you’re eating, but that’s the only „negative“ I could really say. Had a fun evening and can recommend if you either like Ethiopian food or if you like trying new food. The place itself is very clean, not too crowded and very thoughtful designed.

This was my first time trying ethiopian food and I could not have wished for a better experience. The food was delicious, the stuff incredibly sweet and welcoming and the restaurant itself is so well thought out and comfortable. Can’t wait to go there again!
