We haven't been here for ages as the last time here our grandsons food was burnt however our grandaughter had her 9th birthday and asked if we could go for lunch. I wish we hadn't! Food and drinks ordered easy! Then we waited and waited. The waitress came over and said it would be 5 minutes and apologised for the wait. 15 minutes later the manageress came over and said it would be another 'few' minutes and would we like complimentary olives and a piece of bread. Then, the previous waitress came back and said to my grandaughter that the spaghetti bol she had ordered from the menu wasn't on the menu anymore as the menu had changed and no longer had spaghetti bol on. She was given a choice of creamy spaghetti which she wouldn't eat or just plain sauce. I mean come on! She ended up having a bowl of plain overdone spaghetti £12.95!!!! Ego you should be ashamed. It didn't end there, our grandson has special needs and will only eat certain foods due to texture so ordered chicken nuggets. Lightning struck twice and they arrived burnt just like last time. Why would the kitchen knowingly send out burnt food to customers?? I sent them back and another portion came cooked fine thank god. 2 of us had rump steak and were offered garlic butter as an alternative to the peppercorn sauce, yes please for me. The food came, the meat was tough even with a steak knife and medium rare it was not. My husband had a kebab which was consisted of a few bits of chicken and chorizo with veg that was almost charcoal. What an absolute rip off of a place this has turned into. We finally got the bill and paid, I said this seemed expensive so I sat down and went through it. We had been overcharged by £6 so I called the restaurant and spoke to the manageress who said she would get my bill and call me back in 20 minutes, if I was right she said she would refund my card over the phone. Great, thank you. Over 2 hours later a chap called as the manageress had gone off duty. I was told that a refund would not be done over the phone and he could only give me cash. I told him I would never step foot in that place again as the menu is falsely advertised having changed but customers unaware as you have forgottento tell them, the over charging for under par food out of order and the whole meal ruined certainly for out grandaughter. 12.95 for a bowl of plain spaghetti I could have made her at home. Get your act together Ego what an absolute disgrace yesterday was, shame on you!

I met 2 friends at Ego for a lunchtime catchup. The service was very good and we felt welcomed and comfortable. We all enjoyed our food and it was lovely not to be rushed. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Thank you Ego

I went for the fixed price menu The plate was cold and so the food list its' heat very quickly - the french beans were almost raw

When we have been b4 to the Ego Beverley Arms it's been ok for a change however when we visited this time I decided to have a steak and my husband the Sea bass. My steak was so full of fat bitterly disappointed and my husbands sea bass was cooked to a crisp....overcooked. I don't know where they buy their produce from but they have probably laxed a bit.

Had my 70th birthday celebration lunch at The Ego, Beverly Arms Ackworth today. The food was excellent and the service exceptional. The staff member who Looked after us could not have been more accommodating - nothing was too much trouble for him. Top marks for customer service. As a group of four siblings and spouses we have many family lunches and this is now definitely our go to restaurant. My husband and I have had lunch at the Ego many times but this was the first occasion for our ( Elders as we call ourselves on WhatsApp!) group lunch. Everyone was hugely impressed. Highly recommended!

Having been to the Beverly armed in the past and I had a very good time. We decided to take my wife to the Beverly arms for dinner to celebrate her birthday. Ego was kind enough to give us a voucher for her dinner, all of which was good at the start. Ordering dinner was hard work and the food turned up with missing bits. Overcooked and really not very enjoyable. I then asked for replacements of both meals and both turned up little better than the start. We left the food in the end and left having paid for everything other than her dinner and to say that we are disappointed is an understatement and turned out to be a notary. Enjoyable night celebrating my wife's birthday.

The service level was a little hit and miss (more miss than hit). The food on the other hand was very nice all be it the portions were 'extremely' small

Fantastic venue to celebrate my daughter’s 18th birthday meal with family. The food was delicious and service was excellent! From the first time I contacted them to book to the end of the event they were brilliant and decorated the area with banners, photos etc.. special thanks to Phil who was our waitress for the afternoon, nothing was too big a task and her professionalism and service was outstanding! We will be visiting again :)

This is the second time I have been with my friend on a Monday lunchtime. Easy parking. Excellent service. An extensive interesting menu. There is a great variation in price and the à la cart menu and a very reasonably priced bargain menu. We use the bargain menu on both visits and were very pleased.

Ego has become very disappointing, The last few times we have visited the service has been very slow but usually the food is nice. Today we visited for Sunday lunch (7.7.24) sitting in the terrace area. service started ok then the main courses arrived. we ordered 2 trio roast dinners with dauphinoise. unfortunately we did not receive a check back so we could not raise our issues with the main course. The roast was tasty but the meat was cold and the dauphinoise was undercooked and had a piece of tin foil in. After a long wait desserts arrived, my partner ordered apple pie with custard. The jug was cracked all the way down and had a small piece missing. The waitress apologised but for the prices charged it’s just not good enough.

Great lunch in the outside area, food was great, staff very efficient and friendly. Only downside, I wasn’t able to use my discount on the lunchtime menu. Also, why is the Al a carte menu so expensive when it’s exactly the same as the lunch menu? Same description and calories so no difference except the cost.

We were delighted with the service we received from the staff, especially our waitress Levi and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, my husband had the vegetarian paella and i had the rump steak, medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. We each had 2 courses for only £30 which is great value for money. We will definitely go back, most likely with family or friends next time.

Nice environment good food went on Monday night so offer was on 2 courses £20 . We all enjoyed the food although one of us had cold chips and onion rings but sent it back and it was rectified straight away

Enjoyed Lunch here Saturday . Service was good , we were seen as we walked in and taken to our table. I had cocktails on 2-4-1 which are good value. The food was nice and good value , we requested the sharing platter and some starters and truffle chips to be brought together , which all arrived as requested. We’ll definitely be going back.

Went to ego for their 1st bottomless brunch. Didn’t disappoint! Weather not as nice as hope for (no surprise there!) but they had done the terrace out to make it feel more outdoorsy, DJ playing chilled out Summer vibes added to atmosphere. We have gone to Ego quite often but after tonight I think we might be finding a better alternative. The service seems to be getting worse. Got there at 6, no-one took a pre-meal drinks order, we asked for water and it never came, the food was distinctly average, and the whole meal took 3 hours. The waitress kept by-passing us so we went to the bar to pay, and it took them 4 attempts to get the right bill. Very disappointing.

We are very glad that this pub has been upgraded to an 'Ego' Great value for money, they have offers on during the week, 2 courses for £21, we have now been 3 times, and each time did not dissapoint. The food is great, the staff are lovely, they never rush you off your table, its a great place to meet friends and if you fancy a cocktail they're also very good! Only 10 minutes from our house as well, its our new 'Go To' place!

We booked this restaurant as we've previously been to EGO in Sheffiled and had great experiences. Sadly, the same could not be said for here. Our order was taken efficiently but wasn't advised on being presented with the menu that a key dish wasn't available. A quick decision on alternative was made though the food then took 35mins to arrive and when it was brought to the table it was stone cold. We complained and it was reheated, and although nice it spoiled the experience. Very disappointing given the prices and although an apology was given, no offer of compensation was made - our waitress told us they'd had lots of complaints that evening about food. Wouldn't recommend given the experience we had

Our food was amazing. The staff were friendly and very professional. We had a table for 2 in the bay window and the restaurant was almost 109% full but everywhere was clean and all the tables cleared and re set as soon as people were leaving. The quality of our food was excellent and the price was great too. Would highly recommend.

We went for a birthday celebration at the weekend but the service was really slow . We waited around 40 minutes for our starters and then around 30 minutes for our mains. Food is nice but the service let it down on this visit

We live in the village and would love for this to be a regular place to visit, however we have never been and had both great service and great food. There is always something wrong. After a few months, we decided to try again, but it was the samething. Food unavailable at 5.30pm on a Saturday??? One main meal arriving before the starters had been finished never mind cleared. Other main meals arriving once the first one had been almost finished. A rare steak cooked to medium well but then under cooked sides which were inedible. The watress was appologetic and the manager lovely, knocked a bottle of wine and 20% off the bill, but to be honest we would rather it was good and pay full price.... Will see in another 6 months if we can be bothered 😕

Booked on line for lunch on Saturday with two friends. Full lunch menu with plenty choice. Tasty food but was disappointed with the mini Ego puddings. All too sweet and didn’t taste homemade. All staff polite and helpful. Would visit again but would miss out on the puds

We really enjoyed our visit to Ego after a day at Pontefract Racecourse. The food was excellent and we were able to take advantage of the Monday offer - excellent value for money. Josh was extremely helpful and an absolute asset to Ego - hope someone from their management team is reading this!

Haven’t been to Ego Ackworth for a long time so after numerous promotional emails we decided to book for our son’s 17th birthday meal, 7pm Friday night table for 4. On arrival ordered drinks and scanned the menu, decided on garlic bread starters and 4 different pizzas. Only to be told “sorry we’ve no garlic bread or pizzas tonight”, we paid for our drinks and left ! How on earth can a Mediterranean themed restaurant not make or have fresh pizza bases on a Friday night ? Fortunately the local village pub up the road makes fresh stone baked pizzas and were more than happy to take our order and cash. Poor poor effort Ego, felt sorry for the waitress, we won’t be hurrying back I’m afraid.

I've visited twice, both occasions the food was lovely. The staff are friendly and helpful. The only reason there's not 5 stars is the slow service and both visits were the same. We visited on a Tuesday night the 2nd time and from sitting down to drinks arriving it was 30 minutes and the restaurant wasn't full. Don't mind having a wait for food being cooked as it means you know it's fresh but half an hour for 2 drinks is a bit long. Other than that I would recommend.

All staff friendly, great atmosphere. Food was amazing total complements to the chef! Went for Sunday lunch was fab to have a veggie option which included the Sunday lunch good - roasties, Yorkshire puds etc. Don’t like going to pubs & being offered a pasta dish for a Sunday lunch. Cocktails there were tasty & at 2 for £12 you can’t go wrong. Highly recommend this place.

We was in the conservatory with uncomfortable garden chairs, was going to have the fillet steak but poor choices for sauces and no onion ring on the menu either!. Although we have been a few times this year, yesterday the service was poor we had to ask multiple times for drinks and the bill, We both had steak cooked medium but it was no where near far too rare Asked for them to re cook and it came back the same ! But with nee fries which were then undercooked ! I then asked for a hot choc and it was hardly warmI don’t think we will be back

Fast service even though it was really busy we got our food fairly quickly,drinks were a bit slow in between but they tasted good could do with a 2 for one after 6pm perhaps?

Never one to turn down a 2 for 1 offer on a 3 course meal, we visited on a Saturday night and found a lively atmosphere.I had calamari as a starter, very well cooked and not too filling with 3 courses to face. My wife had camembert wedges - lovely and gooey and the cranberry sauce was a great accompaniment.For a change I tried Paella as my main course - it was piping hot, almost too hot ti eat. The mussels were small but juicy and tasty but the squid wasn’t as nice as the starter. I would have liked the rice to have more liquid and some extra spice. My wufe had the peri peri chicken and chorizo hanging kebab and I think she made a better choice. There were big chunks of juicy chicken mixed in with vegetables.For dessert I had a luscious chocolate brownie sundae - although I’m sure the calorie count was high, it still felt light and creamy. My wife had a very rich warm chocolate brownie.Total bill including drinks after our discount was £43This was our 3rd visit and we’ve enjoyed it on each occasion.

So we have just returned from the Beverley Arms (meal for my mums birthday) and we have enjoyed our time there, the food is gorgeous and there is plenty on your plate! I would suggest checking out the menu prior to going as it is quite extensive! There was 6 in our party and we all had starters and mains but couldn't squeeze in a pudding. The cocktails are lovely and the staff are friendly. The place itself is welcoming. The only thing lacking was the speed of service and it was mainly with regards to drinks orders. Maybe it was an off day I don't know. We will go back because the food, cocktails and staff are lovely but I hope the service has improved for our next visit.

We chose Ego for a birthday lunch because it has an excellent choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes for our family, as well as meat-based meals for us. After a sharing platter of flatbreads and dips, my lemon Milanese chicken was absolutely delicious. My daughter chose the goats cheese and red onion pizza which she really enjoyed and the chaps had vegetarian paella, which they said was very good. We all had a coffee and mini dessert, again all good.Our servers were cheerful, efficient and friendly and overall we had a very pleasant and tasty lunch. Thank you, Ego.

Excellent service, so kind and caring. Food was really good too. We really enjoyed our meal and plan to return as soon as possible to try out different options on the extensive and varied menu.

Our previous visit had been disappointing, appalling service and food not up to the standard we expect here. We chanced a return and , yes , the service was OK and the food much more like what we expect. BUT still no working coffee machine after all this time !!

Ego Ackworth is our favourite place to eat out so when we had our Family visiting we decided to book a table as it never fails to please. This occasion was as excellent as ever, the staff always aim to please going above and beyond to ensure your having a great evening and I have to say the food was outstanding, we have never had a bad meal here and it was perfect on Saturday night. Service - waitress came back to check drinks order then the wrong choices came out for the main meal. Starter - not as advertised. Goats cheese chosen with brioche. One quarter of a slice of cheap white toasted bread brought not brioche. Goats cheese luke warm on outside and cold in middle. Not impressed at all.Main meal supposed to be 2 roast beef Sunday lunches. Wrong order of meat brought out. Roast potatoes uncooked, veg luke warm, beef was nothing but gristle which I couldn't cut, gravy was luke warm and fatty. The worst meal I've ever been served in a restaurant. Left most of the meal and was asked by waitress if meal was ok!!! The meal wasn't exactly cheap so better expected. Certainly won't be returning or recommending to anyone and certainly wasn't worth the money.

We have visited the Ego lots of times in the past with no disappointments l. However this visit wasn’t a good experience. We placed our order on line and paid our deposit the day before as requested by Ego. When we arrived we had drinks In the bar area, we were seated at our table and Waited around ten minutes for starters, after about 45 minutes after eating we were approached by a member of the staff apologising for the delay and offering us a complimentary drink for the inconvenience, we were told at this point our food would be ten minutes As there had been a miscommunication with a member of staff and the kitchen staff, we waited an extra 25 minutes for our food to arrive. The food was lovely but to wait all that time after we had already placed the order online the day before wasn’t a good experience.

Ego in Ackworth did not disappoint, went for our wedding anniversary and received complimentary bottle of prosecco! The food was great and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Will definitely recommend and will visit again in the near future

Beautiful setting. Staff were very attentive. The afternoon tea was beautiful. The sandwiches were different to other afternoon teas I've had in the past but in very good way. So tasty. If I had 1 criticism it would be to offer more sandwiches than cakes, but that's my personal opinion. Would definitely recommend

Total hassle free booking. Quick service. Lovely tea of delicious sandwiches, savouries and cakes served by very helpful friendly staff in very pleasant surroundings. We decided to try a couple of cocktails recommended by staff which were a good choice. We probably stayed longer than we should but didn't feel rushed. I have been to Ego quite a few times and enjoyed my visits every time. And this was no exception. Many thanks for making our afternoon.

We visited Ego Ackworth today to celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary. The service was spot on, from the lovely pre dinner cocktails, attentive service throughout the meal but the star of the evening goes to the lovely young chef who cooked our main course, fillet steaks. We prefer our steaks cooked medium rare edging on rare. Some chefs can be a bit cautious about cooking steaks too rare so serve medium, however on this occasion the steak was cooked to perfection. Well done to the chef and thank you Ego Ackworth for a lovely anniversary evening!!

Was very nice food. Had a wait but given a discount, it's understandable due to Covid. Staff were very nice and friendly. People need to understand everything is slower due to the pandemic and businesses picking themselves up.please be patient and supportive.

I think the kitchen and service as stretched a bit too much late on a bank holiday Monday.Restaurant looked great but experience was not up to the expectations set by the appearance. Plenty of potential but not on the ‘A Game’ on our visit.Service was a bit on the slow side; drinks slow to arrive, slow to clear table, etc. No apparent system in place on the floor with no consistent contact with our table which did not help. Food was OK but nothing special.

We recently had our wedding reception here in the terrace area. Everything was outstanding beautiful food. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful they were very polite. We had 30 guests and everyone has said they will be back again soon to eat in the restaurant. Thank you for a fantastic day!

We arrived and we were took to our table which hadn't been cleared and had dirty pots on it. We waited in the bar area until it was cleaned. When we got sat at our table we noticed squashed flies on the wall. Then our food took over an hour to arrive. The manager (I think) came and gave us free drinks in way of an apology and blamed the blunder on a new member of staff and the chief. However, the new member of staff was lovely and had taken the order correctly. We had just finished our main when the desserts arrived and then the bill while we were still eating. Due to the time slots it seemed like we were being moved out quickly. We had to take a bottle of wine we had ordered to have with our meal home with us. So the experience was a let down which was surprising as we have been here before and its been fine.

Ego was a last minute ‘date night’ meal and everything was absolutely spot on, from the atmosphere to the food to the cocktails and the service from staff! Catered to dietary requirements with no problems at all. We ordered: ~Rustic bread and olives served with aioli - I was particularly impressed with the olives!~Fillet steak (medium rare) served with skin on fries mojo rojo sauce and dressed salad (my main): I will say that this dish was quite pricey but worth the cost. The mojo rojo sauce was an additional £1.50 but complimented the steak perfectly and added another taste without being too overpowering and taking away from the steak itself. The steak was cooked exactly right for medium rare and so so flavoursome and filling I struggled to finish it all! ~Sea bass: this was my partners dish and he said it was delicious also and that the chorizo was a nice addition alongside the fish DRINKS ~We both got a pornstar martini cocktail on their 2 for £12 deal right before the offer finished at 6pm ~ you do have to get the same cocktail on this offer so would be good if you could mix drinks but overall a very good offer. Overall I am very happy I chose Ego and will be returning!

After my partner had spotted this beautiful looking restaurant, and mentioning it several times, we decided to go give it a try. The entry way to the establishment was modern, sophisticated and gave off a vibe that this was going to be an incredible dining experience. Staff were friendly and polite and very prompt at taking our order.The first downfall was noted by the staff members interactions with one another. Shouting across the dining area, speaking loudly and having personal conversations at the station next to the kitchen doors, where our table happened to be located next to, which greatly diminished their professional seeming standards. The food had arrived in good time, but took some prompting of the staff to gather forgotten parts of the order. Onto the food, appearance wise it was very well laid out, my partner and I had both ordered the fillet steak at medium rare. Firstly we noted that the steak looked incredibly charred, but still did not dismiss it based purely upon appearances. However, when trying it, it genuinely tasted like the drunken family bbq’s where all of the meat gets grilled within an inch of its life. The only saviour of this meal was the chips. They were pretty damn good! For a bill that cost us nearly £70, we were insanely underwhelmed, greatly disappointed, and will not be attending here again. To say this place has a 4 out of 5 rating is mind boggling to us, but who knows, perhaps the chef was having an off day.

Having visited on numerous occasions and enjoyed both good food & service, we were disappointed this time. We were put in the terrace where there was a large party celebrating a birthday, it was very noisy we couldn’t here one another, the staff were good & moved us into the main restaurant. Orders taken we had a wait before the starters came out, then a wait for the mains which my husband & daughters came but mine didn’t arrive, after a little while I enquired where mine was, the waitress went to kitchen to find out, she came back to say my order had been missed off, it arrived a while later by which time my husband & daughter had finished their meals. The staff were very apologetic and I know mistakes can happen, but it spoilt the evening

I can't fault the staff and the restaurant was busy so there was a great buzz about the place. The food, however, was disappointing. The paella was tasteless, the belly pork was dry and had no crackling and the chickpea cakes were dry and not worth the money. The pizza was good and the kebabs were lovely but we skipped pudding. I've been quite a few times and always enjoyed the experience but this time, I was disappointed, which is a shame as I'd taken my family.

We arrived early and were greeted by a pleasant member of staff at the front desk who showed us round to a table in the bar area until our table was ready. When our table was ready, we're were shown to our table and we were provided with menus. We were told the soup of the day, and told that there was no mash, and no mussels for the paella. We were also told there may be a delay on course due to large parties being in.Staff were apologetic and informative. We had the sharing starter board, which was unreal, and then had the morrocan chicken and iberian belly pork. Both were beautiful dishes and large portions. The sangria is beautiful too. The restaurant was extremely busy and you could see the chefs working extremely hard to make service.go as smoothly as possible. We heard one person on the table next to us complain about there medium steak being too rare, but which they ate regardless and we heard staff give them the meal for free, so did others...and the next thing you knew, they complained too, about the issues that we had all already been told about. At the end of our meal, we felt it necessary to tell the staff and supervisor how lovely the food was, and how happy we were with the service. We will definitely be back again soon....so....till next time....thank you

We visited on the 21st August having been here several times before lockdown . Our slot for the meal was 19.00 until 20.30. Having been seated at 19.00 we placed our order for an appetizer, starter and main course and waited and waited and waited. Our appetizers and starter arrived together at 19.50 so having waited 50 minutes we then had to eat pitta bread with dips and garlic mushroom as the same time not something I would have chosen to eat together. The plates where removed eventually and we had to flag down a bartender to order drinks as no one appeared to be looking after the area we where sat in. We waited and waited and waited and eventually I had to interrupt the waitress who was having a nice long chat with people she knew at another table to ask if our meal would be coming soon. She apologized and explained how they had basically booked 3 events in and also fully booked the restaurant so where running behind. This was the first time all evening that anyone had visited our table or explained the situation. Our main meal came at 20.55 the food was nice and as we had to get home for the children we asked for the bill as soon as we had finished eating. The waitress asked if cash or card and my partner paid in cash. As the waitress took the money she said “do you want your change? “ my partner said yes please. When she had gone to get change my partner said that he couldn’t believe she had asked that and the change she wanted to keep for a tip was just under £9.00 for the quite frankly shoddy service. We do dine out quite a lot and have never been asked if we want our change in this manner it is down to us to say if we wanted to leave a tip and with good service we always do leave one. The poor service, attitude and the dirty look from the waitress as she gave us our change made the decision very easy to not leave a tip at all.

Having found other local restaurants/pubs not serving food on Tuesday lunch Aug 17, we happened upon this establishment. Two of us had travelled up from Somerset for a business meeting and were in need of good food.The staff were very welcoming and friendly and the 3 course set dinner at £15.75 was more than we could have expected. The prawns pil pil starter would not have been beaten in Portugal. Hats off to the chef.A thoroughly pleasant experience enhanced by our always smiling waitress Tess.Congratulations to you all on running such a great pubMany thanks……

Busy as it was a Monday night but the staff were friendly and efficient. The god as always was really good and turf sticky toffee pud is amazing

We have dined here multiple times but this was not up to their usual standardWe had a table of 9 people for dinner in the evening on a Monday.The restaurant was reasonable busy and the table was 20 minutes late which was not a particular problem however despite the fact we had been asked to pre order our meals, there was a huge delay in the starters coming out and one was missing.There was then about a 40 minute delay after the started before the main course.Then after waiting for some time, they had not deducted the deposit from the bill when t arrived.The food was good and the staff were all friendly but the delays were unpleasant.We will not be in a hurry to return .The management need to get organized if they were short staffed then they should reduce the number of diners they will accept

I took my young daughter there for a treat and as always, very pleased. The staff were amazing and got her a couple of cushions to sit on to help her reach the table. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Very pleased with our trip.

Food good, took over 30 mins though but at least my toddlers meal arrived after 20 minutes. We arrived before 5:30 and wanted the 2 course meal, by the time the waitress came at 5:32 the offer had ended and she decided we couldn’t have that. We ordered off the main menu, got to be careful here as there is upselling, so for example, I ordered the pork belly and was asked would I like broccoli or green beans with that, so I assumed that was included, very nice meal in all but then we got the bill and was charged for these. I queried this and was told that they are a business and need to upsell, I said you really need to be transparent before committing customers money and assumed sales are not at all transparent, it was made out they were included. Really disappointing to get the bill this way and, although this was removed for the bill, I did get a lesson about why they need to upsell- I’m quite familiar with this but it’s generally more transparent. So in general, it’s a good meal, watch your order for the assumed sales, we spent £75 for 2 adults and a toddler, 3 cocktails and a lager as well. Didn’t leave a tip though for that experience so that saved us a tenner.
