Excellent service all round - well done team Bosphorus

We recently visited The Bosphorous, it was our first night out since the birth of our son and we had the best night. The food was so tasty and the staff were so friendly, they really took the time to have a proper conversation with us. Best food I’ve eaten in a long time and that’s saying something coming from a classically trained chef.

for £50 for 2 mains, kids meal and 2 starters I was hoping for some good qualities in my food. the meal was cold when it arrived, the stifado was water with meat in it, the gyros was just plain grilled chicken, no spices or flavour, the feta in filo pastry was genuinely Indian spring rolls, not a sign of feta inside and just tasted of Indian spices. my husband said the calamari was nice, but for ~£7 there was only 3 pieces. Really disappointed and won't be going back.

Love eating in the restaurant. Does not work as a takeaway . £40 for inedible food. Stifado just water. Never again

Absolutely disgraceful service. Placed an order for delivery 2 hours ago and have just received a call to say they don’t have two of the three items I ordered. One being Moussaka, why was it on the menu of you didn’t have it? (other restaurants remove unavailable items) and two why would it take 2 hours of “preparing” the food to realise you don’t have it. Now I have to wait 2-4 working days for a refund of my money. I should have taken note of all the shockingly bad reviews online regarding the service from this place.

This was my 5th takeaway from here and I love the food, quality and price. However, I placed my order at 6.20 to arrive at 7.30 and it didn’t arrive until nearly 8pm. The food was quite cold and seems smaller portions than last time. However it was still enjoyable and I will return. The man we spoke to on the phone was very loud and angry when we asked if our order was ready. Easily aggravated.

2 starters and 2 mains were the best i have had in a long time. Compliments to the chef and staff.

A small place with big prices. These are not prices for such a small town as Pontefract. And my food: the chicken was too dry, and the cutlet was undercooked ( grilled), and you could see raw, uncooked pieces. There are much better places in Pontefract.

It was cold and had missing items. I requested a refund and it hasn't been accepted even though the owner admitted on the phone that the standards weren't up to scratch!

Not a option but DID NOT EVEN ARRIVE. Courier was at restaurant for over 2 hours on the app. Spoken to the restaurant and owner who advised the courier drivers are taking the food and eating it and not delivering to the customer. First and last time we shall be ordering from here.

Just seen female member of staff throw her cigarette end on the floor outside the shop. Not sure why a local business would treat our town centre with such contempt. It should go without saying but maybe littering our town isn't the greatest advert for your business.

Really really disappointed, ordered gyros they were just tortilla wraps with a skinny bit of unseasoned chicken, scraggy bit of salad with about 6 chips. Couldn’t taste anything with it. Half of it went in the bin as it was really cold. Also it was delivered really quickly so can’t understand why it was so cold, clearly not cooked to order but all cooked off and thrown together. Will not order again, I really wish I had read the reviews before I ordered from here. Almost £30 in the bin.

We returned to this delightful restaurant with family, five in total. Our meal was wonderful as always and service second to none. We all had different dishes and each was delicious. We will be returning again very soon. Thank you Bosphorus for a lovely evening.

Excellent quality but very little for the money, and also described as lamb chops, plural. We got one chop.

Back here after a long break. Me and my friend thought we would check it out. The restaurant was unfortunately empty apart from us on a Thursday night. The food and service was absolutely fantastic, we had mixed dips to start which were wonderfully tasty, I had Bosphorus chicken which was very tasteful and tender, my friend had the lamb and chicken kebabs again cooked to perfection both served with fluffy rice and salad . Such a shame the restaurant is not better frequented. Come on you local people support this independent restaurant if you want it to stay. We will defo be back.

Been to this place several times and usually had a good meal. However on this occasion…. We booked a table weeks ago, confirming our booking a few hours beforehand. On arrival on the arranged date/time was told our table wasn’t ready and to come back in 20 minutes. I gave them my number to call us just in case it was ready any earlier. After 35 minutes we returned to then be told they didn’t know when the table would be ready! The owner wouldn’t even come and speak to us; leaving it to two young girls who were waiting on. No apologies or anything. I found this to be shocking service and probably won’t return. Shame!

Food was lovely and a nice selection however, delivered early but was a bit cold and had to be warmed - maybe if it was transported in a thermal insulated bag that might help. Really enjoyed the food will order again

Great tasting food. Well cooked lamb. A refreshing change from Chinese or Indian.

I don’t know what the smooth red meat was that was included on the platter but it was awful and wasn’t on there when i have ordered previously. I think it is supposed to be adana but it definitely isn’t, mine was also missing chicken wings! Also, i wouldn’t put in the description ‘lamb chopS’ plural as you only get the one…

Return visit after a few months away and every bit as delicious as on previous visits! The food, staff and ambiance were as always, brilliant. We will definitely be going again very soon. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Ordered 2 special gyros (£8.99), 1 x chips (£2.65) and halloumi (£5.60ish). Food was stone cold. Chips were not £2.65 worth as there was only scraps, and half a small tub... I counted 20 chip scraps total of which looked like they'd been microwaved before delivery. The halloumi was the best but but still cold. I called the restaurant and they said that Just Eat delivery drivers have been stealing food and it's their fault the food is cold, nothing to do with the restaurant. Needless to say I won't be ordering from here again. Pointless. I opted to cook instead.

Thought we’d try this as a change from the normal we get. We were not disappointed. The lamb was falling off the bone, the chicken was grilled perfectly and the potatoes were divine. I was a bit surprised to find the olives weren’t pitted when I bit into it, but they were nice and fresh so all was forgiven. We will definitely be ordering again!!

Food was decent but the portion size was a joke. 2 tiny meatballs, 1 tiny chicken skewer, 3 tiny bits of beef, a box of standard salad and a mostly empty rice box plus dips. Would definitely not order the mess again. Very disappointing

We have been here tonight and omg... Food authentic and out of this world. The owner is the chef.. Bloomin eck want pinch his recipes The staff are young however a lot of us oldies would take a leaf out of their book. Amazing absolutely and we can't wait to go back

Booked for three people for a family meal. Two other tables already served, so our order was taken promptly and first of the 'not available' messages. No draft beer. Ordered starters and main courses and waited the customary times - then waiter came to announce that selected starter of calamari was not available. After starter but before main courses were served waiter announced 'cash only' as card machine was not working, which meant one of our party had to go to the cash machine. One main course chosen was subsequently announced as not available. Offered the dessert menu but waiter told us only one item was available or ice cream, but only vanilla. Asked for coffee and told it was not available. Would have been very simple to point out 'cash only' before ordering, and to present menu with a mention of what was not available. More like hard work than enjoyable.

Food is perfect as always. Delivery is on time.

Fantastic Greek restaurant. I Love Greek food and this place lives up to that. Will certainly be returning to try out more of what they have to offer. They are awaiting an alcohol license (as of 5/4/2018) but were happy to allow people to bring their own in the meantime. They also didn't have a working card machine (again 5/4/2018) so cash only at the moment. Edit: 2022 they do have both an alcohol license and a working card machine now.

We had a lovely meal this evening at the Bosphorus. We were made to feel welcome by the staff. Food was fresh and delicious, great spanakopita! The service from the waiter was friendly and polite. Our little boy really enjoyed himself too! Would recommend ☺️

Very nice authentic Greek food, olives were especially tasty I had lamb with feta and saute potatoes mi partner had mousaka. Service was was good, from the friendly owner....... Shud have been more people in the restaurant......!!

well i can only describe the worst service ever, said do us meal we wanted that was only for takeaway then didnt do,took 15 mins tell us that,then wouldn't do my child as small portion but did before,it was my mum in laws birthday she didn't get her till ever one had finished then the bloke who work there was shouting at the waitress that bad she was bent down behind the bar crying as took my little girl to the toilet another couple saw this said was so bad he was so mad even give the girls a tip hope he posted on here like no money off the bill or anything they didnt careless!! Check the facebook reviews the girl has posted her slef!!!

13 of us were booked in for a family meal for my mum's birthday. There were two very helpful young waitresses working and one guy, who I assume was the manager. The food came out in dribs and drabs, everyone had finished eating before mum and dad got theirs. The guy was disgusting, he shouted at the girls, in front of customers and made them cry. What had they done wrong? Nothing. Another couple, on the next table, had a go at him and told him he was in the wrong. The next thing we knew, the girls had gone home, don't know if it was by choice or not. So, although the food was good, I will not be returning and I would not recommend it because nothing can justify how he treat those poor girls.

Hi great food but spent just over £70 was hoping for a feast to feed 4 a little disappointed with how much food I got for money

Booked here for mums birthday we were made to all pay £10deposit each as they said 13was a big party.we messaged before hand to see if they would do us a couple of giros with they said they would.but when ordering we were told no .the meals came out willy nilly two of which came out 30mins after every ones . during this the manager was shouting at the young waitress es bringing them to tears .this was unexeptional behaviour and another party also witnessed this and left upset .this is the worst restaurant I've ever been to.we never even got an apology don't waste your time or money here

Well where do I start? Our first time in this newly refurbished restaurant and it was lovely. The staff are friendly, polite and professional. The food was absolutely delicious and faultless. Atmosphere was spot on. We cannot wait to go again! 5 star review easy!

Last time we went was before lockdown, and we hadn't realised that they have done a refurb and had only reopened this week. I loved the old Turkish lights, but the new look is very classy and more modern. Millie and Fatty were absolutely lovely....

Visited 11/12/21 19.30 Bitterly disappointed. We turned up on time to find that they had no booking for a party of 7, despite it being booked weeks ago!! We have been here before pre-covid and gave it a very good review, however after last nights family get together meal I have to retract that review. Lets start with the starter of olives and feta, terrible, the olives were all misshaped with hardly any flesh on them and un-pitted. They looked like they were just leftovers from the crop. You can buy vastly better and cheaper from Aldi. We ordered the meat meze for 2 which is £19 EACH. We got the dips and salad on a rectangle platter and then, 2 small meatballs each, 1 chicken skewer each (dry and over cooked) and three tiny pieces of beef stifado each (think just about the double size of a stock cube) and one small spring roll type of thing with cheese and chicken? Honestly the portions were so small my granddaughter could have polished the lot off and asked for seconds. My brother asked for Kleftico Lamb, but they had no lamb, NO lamb in a Greek restaurant..so he opted for the mixed grill, now I have had the mixed grill before and when the owner brought it out he was laughing and challenged me to finish it, it was a big plate full. Last night? It was the size of a starter, in fact I have had bigger starters so I felt very embarrassed as I had recommended it and even warned him he had better be hungry, when it came out his first comment was "is that it". Overall it was bitterly disappointing and we'll never visit or recommend this place again. I don't know what's gone wrong with this place but they need to have a look at themselves, it's gone from a premier eatery to somewhere to not even think about visiting. Our bill for 7 people with a couple of beers each was £231 which averaged £33 per person with one of our party drinking lemonade as she was driving, it was maybe worth half of that.

Had planned to meet up with an old friend for food elsewhere (as it turned out they weren’t serving food that night) so we hopped in the car and parked up and intended to go to Spoons but thankfully gave that a miss and found...
