Damelio in Wakefield

Food was great, we went 6pm Friday quiet atmosphere, log fire. Got a bit busier but was still calm and relaxed. Reasonably priced. Portions weren't too big or small. Staff very friendly and welcoming, will definately come again.

I would have loved to have given 5* for everything as any other time I'm sure I would have, however there was a few miscommunications. So I booked 2 weeks ago for my nephews 21st birthday, a table of 5 and a table for 2. I was told that I would be contacted prior to the booking date. I rang myself on the day and I'm glad I did as only the table for 2 was booked in! I was told if we came half an hour earlier at 6pm that we could have the table until 7.30pm and they were then fully booked. I arrived 20 minutes early so I could give the cake ect to staff and was told we had to vacate our table by 7pm. This obviously wasn't acceptable to me and they agreed we could stay until 7.30 but they were then booked for a private party. Overall I felt very rushed and on edge throughout what should have been a special celebration, you are only 21 once.

Lovely log fire burning and delicious cocktails. Can't comment on food as we didn't eat here. Just a shame it was literally empty apart from our group.

Lovely place, lovely food. Eventually the service was good. Sat down, waited about 5 mins(ish) maybe more before order was taken. Then waited a further 10 mins or so just before our food come out for our drinks. Food was beautiful, no fault on that end. Staff was lovely

Eaten here a few times now and it always impresses us! We always go for tapas and try abit if everything, especially when there's a few of us. Delicious food, great menue, good drinks choice and lovely staff. We will keep going back 👍🏻

It's a bar that serves food. Other people seemed to be enjoying themselves. Our drinks were weak. I even got a shot, that wasn't even a full pour. I ordered salmon and asparagus over pasta, I tried to play "find the salmon" and was severely disappointed. And there MAY have been one piece of pasta that was cut into it. If you want a restaurant, you may want to find someplace else. But, as I said, others seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I had the fish, with potatoes and everything else can't remember! But was amazing. I will coming back with my family as I was on my own this time!

Only called in on Saturday night for a Cocktail but really enjoyed ourselves and will go back.

Wouldn’t visit again, ordered salmon with asparagus and sauce, all I got was a piece of salmon with sauce on the plate nothing else. Got to say the salmon was nice but expected a few potatoes or veg to make it look appealing. Service was poor had to keep asking for drinks. Will give it a miss in future.

Popped in for a drink was a lovely atmosphere, didn't eat here but saw food coming out to a large table and it looked fantastic, the calzone was huge and looked amazing, that good I needed to read the menu! We all said we will have to come and try the food 👍🏼

Came for a Christening party, it was such a lovely place. Wonderful atmosphere, staff could not have done more or been more helpful. The food was stunning and plentiful. Nothing was too much for them, recommended highly!

We planned our coaches night out for the local football club at Domelio. The buffet and service was fantastic. Great food for a lot of hungry coaches. Lovely relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. Everything on the buffet was delicious and we left very full. Great restaurant 👌

Came here tonight for the first time to celebrate a friends birthday, won’t be my last visit, the decor is lovely including a real fire. The staff are all so friendly and attentive making drinks that weren’t on the menu. The food is delicious, I had the beef stroganoff and it was absolutely divine. I would highly recommend visiting here

We came for drinks after dinner on a Saturday night and thought it was fabulous. Decent bottle of red wine, followed by some superb gin. Atmosphere and buzz without the music at a volume we can no longer cope with! Oh for somewhere like this where we live.

What a lovely lunch we had at Damelios on 20th October with a couple of our friends. We had called in a few times previously for a drink but decided we would eat there this time. So glad we did. Great food, nicely presented, helpful staff, reasonable prices and a lovely place to spend a few hours. Definitely recommend and we will be back.

Ate here this evening as a family of five adults & two kids. Most of us had three courses, all of which were delicious. Arancini were particularly good. Pizzas & pastas all good, fresh, hot & tasty. Service was fantastic, really friendly & we felt very welcome & well looked after. Meerkat meals made the evening an absolute bargain too! Highly recommended.

My neice and I have been for lunch on 2 occasions. The food, service and prices are fantastic! They have currently got some unbelieve offers on, but the food is yummy. Can't wait to go again

We booked a table to celebrate our friends birthday. The staff were all brilliant especially Denise who really looked after us. We had starters, followed by pizza and lasagne for mains.... all really delicious. Excellent wine list too. Denise brought a birthday treat with candles and the staff to sing happy birthday.... Came across this little delight whilst looking for somewhere to celebrate my nieces exam results. Some lovely little lunchtime deals on so there is something for everyone. Lasagne is lovely, and the carbonara is a huge portion for such little cost. Will definitely visit again, lovely little find. Denize is lovely and couldn't do enough for you. Lovely little find 😁

Discovered this restaurant on Meerkat Meals. Went last week to celebrate our son leaving primary school. Lovely food! Only dropping a star as the atmosphere was slightly lacking.

I had a charming and delicious time here for a quiet dinner for one. The lasagna was authentic tasting and the menu prices were extremely reasonable. A beautiful environment with excellent service made this an excellent choice for dinner.

Really lovely food served by a very attentive waiter. The restaurant seemed to be full of regulars,which is a good sign.I don't live in Wakefield but I would return if I visited again

Amazing Carbonara was blown away by it. Unfortunately the goat’s cheese starter was awful cold and cloying and lacking in dressing. To finish I tried the tiramisu which should be light and fluffy, this was solid, stodgy and had a weird taste??? I finished with an Irish Coffee which did t even appear to have cream and was really an awful version of the classic. The cream was mixed with the coffee which was not great and the coffee was instant! If you like carbonara and very friendly hospitality then go, just avoid the goat’s cheese, tiramisu and Irish Coffee.

Not enough choice of draught beers in my opinion , although it appears to suit plenty of drinkers , not keen on these fancy beers prefer a good bitter,

Damelios is the best restraunt/bar in wakefield. We once again had a terrific meal,and the owner tony and his staff are the most hospitable people you could ask for,nothing is too much trouble for them. It's is and excellent place to eat or drink and relax. I would highly recommend the place.

I highly recommend Damelio to anyone looking for a cozy and intimate spot to enjoy a glass of wine with friends or a dinner with your family .The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is second to none. You won't be disappointed!

We hadn’t been out to eat in Wakefield for ages and so we chose this restaurant for its good reviews. However our review of our experience doesn’t match other reviews . When we arrived at the restaurant we went to the bar and a young lady asked if we weee there to eat or drink. We said we had booked a table, and she pointed to a table in the corner and said “Your table is the one in the corner”. We wasn’t taken to our table like other restaurants, we were shown where we were sitting. Not a problem. We will go with the flow. There was only one couple sat in the dining side, and they were finished so not much atmosphere to start with for a Friday evening, but hey, we were out and happy so what the hell. We was going to give this restaurant a go. The waiter came to ask us if we would like a drink, so we ordered drinks. We asked for more time to look at the menu, which she said was fine. When she came back, I ordered sirloin steak with chips and salad. This is how it was described. My husband ordered the calzone pizza with a side of chips. At no point was we asked if we had any allergies, so be aware if you have. They don’t ask, or she didn’t ask. The food was brought out and so could see straight away the salad had dressing. I hate dressing, and this wasn’t specified on the menu. Plus I didn’t know the ingredients in this dressing. The steak was cooke medium, not medium rare but I can accept that, even though I shouldn’t have to. It was very thin also so would have been difficult to do a medium rare steak. I could do it, but some chefs can’t. Obviously this one can’t. The steak had so much seasoning on it, it was practically burning my mouth and it was stuck in my teeth for hours after. Once again it wasn’t specified on the menu it was a seasoned steak. I want to taste my steak, not loads of black pepper. My husband was eating his calzone and asked me if I wanted a taste. I said yes that would be nice. So he passed me a bit on a fork. I said it was nice but not very warm. We don’t usually like saying anything but I advised him ti say something to the waiter should she come back. She came to ask if everything was ok and what she said shocked us. Get ready. She asked “Is everything ok with your meals?”. My husband said “Well No actually. My pizza is barely warm”. She looked at him and then said “I’m not sure why that’s happened, but apart from that, is everything else ok??” What!!!! We looked at each other in amazement! She never acknowledged that we had just said the food was barely warm! What did she want us to say? Erm the walk here was nice, and your establishment is warm . We were both gobsmacked. She then just walked away. By this time I was ready to go, but I could see she was talking to someone. Why I’m not sure as she should have immediately took that food. Not walk away and go ask someone! She came back over and said “We can make you another one if you like??” Question!!! Well of course we would like!! I asked her to take mine to keep warm while they made my husband another one. The evening’s experience was already spoilt but we was giving the restaurant another chance. They brought the other one, with my meal . My meal had been re- plated with more drenched salad. The steak had been either turned upside down, or replaced with the same amount as I had left. Still like a steak thin, but alas, it was turned upside down. I found the burning hot seasoning on the other side. They had replaced the chips but they seemed frozen this time. The other chips that they brought out initially were lovely. My husband’s calzone was hotter but still not hot in the centre. We paid up and left, not being asked if we had enjoyed it. Just asked if we wanted coffee, deserts etc. Obviously we won’t go back as there are so many restaurants to try. And it’s also a shame as had I seen on the menu, Seasoned steak, served with home made chips and a dressed salad, I wouldn’t have ordered that. Some people may but the menu wasn’t true to what you got. Plus we was never asked if we had allergies at all. This is now standard, even in McDonald’s so this restaurant really needs to up its game. And give the restaurant staff training for goodness sake, what to do if a customer says something is not right. They shouldn’t have to look like they are terrified and “Oh my god!! What do I do?”! Oh tell you what, I’ll ask if everything else is ok!! Honestly, it was like an April fool ! I gave this score average, as the food wasn’t poor. However the service was odd, and the food wasn’t how it was described. I hope that the restaurant can take feedback on board and change these points so that other customers don’t experience what we did. Ah well back to the drawing board.

Our first time here and won’t be our last after such a great night! Welcome was a bit disappointing. Felt in trouble for arriving early. Thankfully from the minute we sat down the food and service were super. Time was spent discussing wines without feeling pressured to buy the most expensive. Food was delicious and good portion sizes. Be aware the mains do not include sides though so price goes up. Lovely meal in nice place. Not cheap but will go again. Thank you. Agree toilets need improving.

Wakefields hidden gem, Damelio is a lovely place to relax with a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere backed up by excellent food at a very reasonable price. All freshly cooked yet served quickly and with style.

We had the good fortune to pop into Antonio's restaurant DAMELIO. He & his chef spoiled us with their wonderful food, wine & friendliness. So good we went again the next night, taking another couple with us.

Very disappointing quality of food and very pricey for very average food Service was slow and very little food on the plate to justify the price. I would recommend here for a drink as it’s a lovely cosy atmosphere but certainly avoid eating there

Very rude manager. Wanted to purchase a gift card as restaurant looked ‘nice’ online but how we were wrong. Went in to enquire as couldn’t get it to work on the website. The manager was extremely rude and belittling towards us and spoke to us as if we were stupid to come in and ask a question. Apparently he has turned the option to purchase a gift card off but laughed as if I should have known this. What we ‘thought’ was a nice restaurant has now completely ruined our experience and I suggest you take the option off your website. Seen quite a few reviews mentioning rude staff and clearly this runs from the manager.

This is the first time I’ve been out for a meal in a restaurant for ages and Damelio’s was the perfect place to start venturing back out. The food was amazing and full of flavours, the service was outstanding and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed whilst still holding an air of elegance. Took my friend who is fussy about his steak and asked for it to be rare. The chef here is the only person I know that has managed to impress my friend. The steak was as ordered and juicy and the flavours were out of this world so much so I may have to start ordering my steak this way from now on. Overall if you want 1st class food and service I would recommend Damelio’s to everyone.

We found this restaurant by chance and we're so glad we did, they are a delight. The food was all delicious and the service was excellent - thank you Tony. The menu is varied and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

Looked promising at first and cocktails and wine were reasonably well priced. The beef stroganoff I ordered however, wasn’t like any stroganoff I’ve had before. Not at all creamy and the beef was chewy. Plus we had to ask again for the rice side order, which meant the stroganoff was cold anyway by the time it came and was a very small portion. Still felt hungry after my meal. The saving grace was the cheesecake, which was delicious and very creamy. Don’t think I’ll be in a rush to go back though👎🏻
