Thank you Simon for the fabulous Afternoon Festive Tea. We had a wonderful time as always 🥰 Highly recommend this absolute gem of a bistro, please support local businesses , you won’t be disappointed 👍 I had my birthday party here last year and it was amazing, you get it exclusive if you book 30-40 people too.

We got married in September 2023. As a wedding of just 25 of us, we needed somewhere for our evening venue where there was no pressure to dance (not our thing) and somewhere we could humbly celebrate our marriage with excellent food and plenty of bubbles! We started popping by for afternoon teas, drinks and meals. After realising the food and service was faultless, we decided this was our place. Simon, Louise and the team went above and beyond! Our table and room was presented beautifully. Our families were well looked after and every single person complimented the food, the friendliness of staff and the venue itself. We are so glad we picked the Courtyard for our wedding evening. And now it's a place we can return to for anniversaries as well as birthdays, celebrations or a date night.

I’m forever telling my friends and family about this restaurant as it is just amazing. The food is so lovely, the cocktails are fantastic and the staff are so welcoming. We visited as a couple on Saturday night and shared the tapas menu, we ordered all the meat tapas and a few more as we couldn’t decide what we wanted. We couldn’t fault any of the dishes as they all tasted delicious. We both ordered desserts and they were lovely too. We did come here for the carnival special loaded bbq pulled pork fries in July and I wish they were on the main menu as they were amazing!! Will always return here and have already eyed up what I will be ordering from the main menu next time.

We use the Courtyard quite regularly and it never disappoints. The Cocktails are excellent, I would say easily the best in Wombourne. The draught beers are fresh and well kept, good wine choice also. The food menu offers enough choices without being overly long and food cooked to order. The staff are friendly and helpful. The prices are sensible. I would highly recommend…

Spent a lovely afternoon with my mum enjoying a range of delicious sandwiches, sausage rolls, scones (cream & jam), homemade cakes, biscuits plus numerous coffee top ups. Great service - nothing too much trouble, bone china cups/saucers brought back happy memories of my Nan. All in a lovely setting at the end of a picturesque alleyway. Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

I came here with a friend and sat outside, as it's such a warm night, we were going to have a drink, but decided on having some food, I had the tapas and my friend had the chicken paella, both were really good, I didn't realise we had a place to eat in wombourne apart from Indian restaurants, it was a lovely evening and the owner was friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend, use it or lose it!!!

Take away loaded fries at the carnival - we didn't manage to get in for these specials over Christmas2022 so we're very excited when announced they would be doing them for the carnival Unfortunately they were quite disappointing - chips were barely cooked / looked anaemic (had one which was still rock hard virtually frozen) and only 1 tiny pig in blanket! :-( very expensive for what we got so sadly not impressed this time when usually this is a go to favourite venue!

We had a warm welcome at The Courtyard and sat outside with our perfectly made cocktails before choosing several tapas dishes. The food was excellent along with a good choice of wines. We finished with a delicious Mozart liqueur ice cream sitting inside the cosy bar area. I haven’t dined here for some time although this is now going to be a regular visit for me. Just wonderful and very reasonably priced. Thanks for a lovely evening!

Attractive find tucked away in The Courtyard. The staff were friendly and attentive, nice to meet the owner Simon too. Good choice of drinks and moved to a quieter table was no problem. Quality breads and balsamic with a Kir Royale in a cosy area followed by well cooked sea bass. The risotto was a little over cooked but was still tasty. More squash with the gnocchi please! From start to finish our visit to the Courtyard was wonderful yet again. We had one of their truly scrumptious afternoon teas. We were served a range of delicious fresh sandwiches and a selection of homemade scones and cakes. All totally yummy and plentiful (we were offered a box to take home what we couldn’t quite manage). Everything was served on a pretty china tea set which just made it feel special. Our waitress Sofia was so lovely and explained exactly what was on the cake stand. Just to add, we have also visited here on an evening and had wonderful food and service. A little treasure Wombourne should be proud to have!

I visited the Courtyard today to enjoy an afternoon tea with my daughter. We visited at a quiet time as I worry about catching the virus but I felt the venue was very covid safe. We were greeted at the door with a warm welcome from the proprietor and shown to a table laid with pretty china. A pot of tea came with the promise of a refill if we wanted it and then a stand full of delectable goodies arrived. There were a selection of sandwiches, warm scones with jam/clotted cream, deliciously chewy meringues topped with tart forest fruits, and slices of delicious carrot cake and lemon drizzle cake.I would definitely recommend this lovely little restaurant both for the friendly welcome and the delicious home cooked food.

So on a wet and windy day stood watching non-league football I texted my wife and suggested we go out for dinner? Usual question "where shall we go?" Don't know let's try somewhere we've not been before .So a few hours later we arrived at the little secluded setting in a courtyard (hence the name). We were greeted by a warm welcome from the staff.Short walk upstairs to a little tranquil setting with good music vibes. Staff were very cheery, polite and on hand. Menu was very interesting and not standard fair but without being too exotic or overpowering. Drinks menu had all sorts of interesting items including cocktails without the exuberant prices. There were also some specials of the day for both starters and mains. The food was just fantastic. Home cooked with fresh ingredients. It was brought to the table promptly but with plates which had been warmed which is a touch i always appreciate as to me the dish somehow always tastes better We had deserts from the interesting desert menu. Not too many choices that you don't know what you want but just enough variety to make you have to make a choice change your mind at least twice before ordering. Again they were amazing. When the bill came I was really surprised at how reasonable the meal had been. I have paid double the price of the bill in some restaurants for food of a much lower quality. It was incredible value for money. My only complaint was how did I not know this amazing little place existed before?Safe to say we will be back and look for to many more meals in a lovely secluded setting.

The Courtyard is a restaurant which also offers coffee and snacks during the day. My friend and I called in at 10.45 on a cold, misty weekday morning for a morning coffee, to be greeted by the owner who told us that they were not open until 11am , despite the fact that the door was open. His response was curt and totally unwelcoming. This was my second poor experience here and there will not be a third. All he had to say was did we want to take a seat, while he roused himself to some form of action. Maybe he should take a leaf from the coffee bar on the High Street about 200 yards from his door which was packed, with no seats available at that time. Otherwise stick to providing only lunch and dinner service.

We were due to dine here before Christmas but had to cancel due to illness. The owners were kind enough to carry over our deposit so we didn't lose out. A gesture that was gratefully received. Sadly we were the only table booked in but we were made very welcome and it didn't bother the 4 of us at all.The menu is small but there is still plenty of choice. We had bao buns and mushrooms to start. Both were very good. 2 Steaks, lamb shank and pork belly were our mains and all went down very well. 3 of us had desserts and they even made us a small jug of custard for the apple crumble, a big hit as ice cream on a cold night wasn't too popular. All in all a great restaurant in Wombourne. We enjoyed the food very much. If I had a complaint it was the price of the bao bun starter. At £6.25 it felt a little expensive, but that was just my own opinion. Everything else was superb in taste and good value. There is also an excellent choice of drinks and wine. We were treated really well and will certainly visit again.

This restaurant is a gem in Wombourne and until today the food and service has been first class so I am disappointed to make this review but maybe it will inform the owner and customers that today was poorly under par and hopefully things will improve quickly. We were the first customers in at 12.30 and after being shown our table we had drinks and ordered the roast sirloin of beef. When the meals arrived they looked appetising but a little smaller than normal. The beef was medium rare and the veg well cooked. However, the gravy was oily, thin and tasteless, the food was luke warm on cool plates and the two slices of meat were cut thin and gristly. In fact my wife’s portion of meat was half gristle. A complaint was made to the waitress on two occasions but no comment or apology was made. We thought that the manager might reply after the meal. We ordered dessert and the standard remained the same, Xmas pud with brandy sauce was dry, small, cheap pud with no taste of brandy in a bland white sauce. The Creme Brûlée tart with vanilla cream was bland with thick, stodgy pastry and the vanilla cream was aerated, tasteless foam with no flavour. We had intended to stay for coffee and more drinks but felt so disappointed we left and when we left no comment, explanation or apology was given to us.The high standards we have always enjoyed have slipped! We were the first people in for lunch so no pressure, so why poor quality food and small portion size for such high prices? I don’t normally complain but we hold the Courtyard in high esteem and if just one person had said sorry I would have accepted it as an off day. Please bring the old standards back.

A group of eight ladies who regularly lunch together visited The Courtyard today. What an awful experience we had. One lady arrived late and we had already ordered when she arrived. She was given a menu and was rushed to give her order. She ordered a dish which when it came can only be described as looking like a dog had left his business on the plate. Minced beef (we think). Very dry and covered in nachos and jalapeño chillies which when our friend had the first mouthful she had to rush to the toilet to swill out her mouth as it was so hot. She had to ask for a glass of milk. We complained to the owner that the dish was inedible to be told she could choose something else but she would still have to pay for the inedible dish. She went without because her mouth was still burning. We took the dish back to the owner and when we said how hot it was he said he had told her about it (we can vouch he didn’t) and he was not there to babysit us. What an attitude to take with customers. The rest of our dishes were not very good. Fishcakes just a hard outer coating with hardly any filling and the mozzarella cheese on crusty bread was not even warm or melted. The bill could not be split so when we tried to work the bill out between us a huge calculator was brought and plonked on the table. We voiced our disgust on the way out as to the attitude of the owner and the way he had spoken to us and we assured him we would not be going back.

There's a big difference between food made by a cook and a dish created by a chef who has passion and flair for what they do. Sadly this place is much about the former. As my dining companion put it 'it was like an acceptable but forgettable quick lunch - but served at night time pretending to be something it isn't'. We both thought that the dishes we had could've been so much better with a bit of love shown for the food and a few simple twists of seasoning or spice here and there.

Myself and my friend had to keep our coats on to eat, not comfortable to do. We sat next to the radiator on the sofa, but it was stone cold. It really spoils the dining experience to be sitting eating in a cold atmosphere. Is there anything you can do to please please make the place warmer. 2 other ladies came in as we were leaving and said they were glad to sit by the radiator as they were so cold. They too were not happy that it was not warm in there. Sorry to complain, because other than the cold temperature, everything else was beautiful.

After my original baby shower venue being a massive disappointment, my mother in law suggested I tried here and I was pleasantly surprised! I decided to hire the upstairs room and have a buffet for my guests.

I’ve visited The Courtyard on a few occasions now - Tapas night (April 2018), Beer Festival & BBQ (June 2018) and for lunch today (Aug 2018). I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each visit and would recommend this venue to anyone. The special events are great for a ‘different to the norm’ night out - the wines and food at tapas night were fabulous! I always appreciate good quality food made from scratch and the chefs do not disappoint in this area. My husband enjoyed the punchline brewery beer at the festival, and I enjoyed a really tasty, fresh and hot chicken burger from the BBQ. I visited again with a friend for lunch today, and again the food was lovely (chilli jacket for me and a chicken dish from mains menu for my friend). For great food and service in a lovely, charming location you can’t go wrong at The Courtyard.

Visited on the Friday preceding the Bank Holiday weekend and were amazed to find our party of four to be the only people booked in, so difficult to review meaningfully as there was a total lack of atmosphere. Not the most appealing of interiors and unfortunately the building is located off the High Street, requiring a bit of local knowledge. The owner was pleasant and he also did all the serving that evening. The food was pretty good without living up to the claim to be an upmarket venue. We also had to remind the owner that the wine had not been included on the table bil, whch was disapponting on such a quiet night.l

Unprofessional management and a cracked tile on the floor by the stairs. Kept tripping up on it and a risk of ripping shoes and clothes, with a big safety issue as well. Covered up with tape so looks tacky now. However food is lovely and couldn’t fault that.

A warm welcome from the hosts set the scene for a wonderful culinary evening at The Courtyard. Drinks were served in the lower lounge area, and then our meal was served in the upstairs dining area,

My Partner and I decided to book for a Thursday evening based on lots of promotion on Facebook and Twitter. We were welcomed upon arrival and opted to have a 'while you wait' Humous and flatbread. It was really nice and more than we expected resulting in us leaving some! Simon went through the wine list asking what we preferred and recommended a lovely White wine which we thoroughly enjoyed. He was extremely knowledgeable on all the wines and didn't put us under any pressure to choose quickly.

Had been waiting for an excuse to go here for a few months after hearing great things and we were thoroughly rewarded with our patience. We visited for Fathers Day on a Sunday as a group and we all ordered variations of their Roasts. I had the roast Sirloin which was blushing pink (I like how they advise this in the menu) it was beautiful, the inside was delicate and with a nice salty seared exterior I couldn’t complain. The gravy, veg and Yorkshire’s were all home cooked and left you with a clean pallet to finish. With a nice selection of Starter, Deserts and artisan wines this is a real jewel in Wombournes crown.

We had an early evening meal on a Thursday when there is a fantastic offer of two courses for £16.50. We were greeted by the owner who was very welcoming and we sat in the pretty courtyard for drinks before going to our table. The decor is modern and immaculate with tables set well apart in the surprisingly spacious upstairs restaurant.

We were welcomed warmly when we arrived, offered drinks which arrived as soon as we settled at our table, the restaurant is nicely decorated and I'm pleased to say the tables are not crowded in. Our food was excellent, served by friendly staff who took care not to serve it like they were on centre court, which we have experienced in a few other restaurants. I highly recommend the crème brulee, a real treat!

Visited The Courtyard on the 24/05/2018 and I've got to say the service and food was outstanding, it really is a little gem located in the heart of Wombourne village. if your looking for fine food at a reasonable price you have got to give this place a try. Will definitely be revisiting with friends and family. On Thursday evenings the deal is 2 courses for £16.50 and for what you get this price is amazing. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

We dropped in on the off chance at the Courtyard on Friday at around 5pm. It was a beautiful night and we sat outside. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We had frittata. My husband had one of their specialty beers which went down a treat in the warm evening. All in all a very pleasant experience.

We went for dinner with two friends and had a really enjoyable evening. A nice welcome, drinks downstairs while we perused the menu, and we were taken to our table upstairs when our starters were ready - tableware we'll prepare, our wine for the evening was waiting for us. The meal was excellent and service very good - attentive but not overdone and a nice gap between started and main course. Will definitely go back. Recommended are both the Pork dish and the Hake.

What a fantastic find this and just what Wombourne has been missing. Tucked away in a lovely little part of the village do not miss the opportunity to go and pay The Courtyard a visit. Myself and a friend decided to book for dinner on Saturday 3rd February and I can honestly say neither was disappointed. From our arrival to our departure the staff could not have been more attentive and as for the food I haven’t had a better meal out in quite some time. I started with the mackerel which I was delighted to see on the menu, as I love it. Beautifully presented and delicious tasting this just wet the appetite for my main course of sea bass which again did not disappoint. The combination of flavours is so refreshing to see and very innovative. Both myself and my friend could not resist a dessert and we both chose the bread and butter pudding which was delicious and just what you want on a cold evening in February. Washed down with a tawny port and a bottle of Carmenere red wine (great wine list too) we are already looking forward to our next visit.

The service was friendly and the food absolutely first-rate. Can recommend the Ploughman’s which is loaded with cheese, really top notch ham, and lovely crusty bread. Would have loved to stay for cake but we were all too full.

we always try to come here when we can get in and don’t fancy cooking one ourselves. the meat selection is always good and very generous, their roast potatoes are the best - lovely and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. it is a carvery so can help yourself. they unfortunately don’t have any mash but we just add extra roasties! their gravy is lovely and homemade with the meat juices in. the staff are lovely and attentive. our favourite place to go for sunday lunch!

We booked for dinner as we knew the White Lion had reopened for food with a new chef. We were not disappointed the food was delicious, we had the rib eye steak, the sea bass special and the penne vodka. All were beautifully cooked and served. The service was great and the staff were friendly. We will definitely be eating here again.

We are regular visitors to the Red Lion in Myddle. We return every time because the food and service is second to none. We always receive a warm welcome and we know how hard Pete and Jackie and staff work to make sure that their guests are not disappointed. If you fancy a meal out around Shrewsbury (lunch or dinner) then look no further than the Red Lion. You won’t regret it.
