Very poor value for money food wise, and the whole booking and arriving experience was rather ‘dinky’ would not want to put on fancy things as you never know whose hair has been in the hat before yours. There were 4 sandwiches cut into 4, no extras allowed. Tiny cakes and frankly Fortnums or Browns or the Aportrophe are far better value and more convenient.

My friends and I went here for a hen do vintage afternoon tea experience. Most of us arrived late because of the train strikes that day but they accommodated all of us and extended our stay to make sure we enjoy ourselves. They arranged the table even to the tiniest details to make it look like we're in the 20's. The downstairs area has a lot of vintage clothes and accessories for us to try on, it really made our experience worthwhile trying out the clothing. The staff are really attentive to our needs, their sponge cake tastes gorgeous too. Highly recommend this vintage afternoon tea place.

I came in on Mother’s Day to have a tea and cake with my young son. Upon entering, we were not acknowledged, we stood there for some time waiting to be served. Finally I asked the lady if we could take a seat, she said “just wait” and carried on tidying up behind the counter. I asked if there was seating downstairs and she gruffly responded that it was closed for a function. After continuing to stand there, we just walked out, and she didn’t even look up. Considering they only had one table occupied, and given it’s Mother’s Day and I was clearly with a young child, this attitude was disgraceful. I can’t comment on the food, as we didn’t get a chance to try anything, but I will not be even attempting to come here again. For a venue that targets special occasions, you need to find friendlier staff.

The afternoon tea served at this cafe is a bit underwhelming. The tables for afternoon tea were under stairs in the basement. This was a very disappointing afternoon tea. No milk given with the tea. Sandwiches were cheap and there was barely any choice, nothing interesting, egg. cheese and salmon. The cakes were tiny. I got for my birthday an afternoon tea coupon with a value of £ 60.00 from groupon, unfortunately I never got to use it because everything there was a problem. When we got there they told us it has to be booked in advanced, which fair enough I can understand that, but the girl who was there was extremely rude, and I was also a bit confused as the place was completely empty. Then we asked if instead of having the afternoon tea ( which I understand it may need some time to prepare) we could ask just for a piece of cake and a coffee instead of using it for an afternoon tea ( all I wanted is to make use of my voucher as it was a bday present) but she said that was impossible, which I really can’t understand as the value is much lower ( it was only 2 of us) than preparing an entire afternoon tea. Went online, and tried to book it , but what was my surprise it could only be booked from Monday to Friday , between 9am and noon, which barely gives you the opportunity to use it if you have a 9-5 regular job + you also need someone else available at that time. I called them and explained my situation, and asked again if it was possible to use the voucher for anything else but it was impossible, never got to use my voucher!

To start with the positives, this is a themed tea room and provides opportunities for those who wish to indulge, to dress up in 1920s accessories. Hats, beads, gloves galore are available. Staff are friendly and helpful. However, if Afternoon Tea is actually what you want, then it is very disappointing. There is a distinct lack of ‘Tea’ both in liquid and solid form. English Breakfast or Earl Grey, with a couple of herbal teas are on offer. There were 3 small sandwiches/rolls, a small piece of lemon drizzle cake and a large piece of Red Velvet provided, alongside some crudités and dips. There was NO scones with cream and/or jam. To me that is the very essence of Afternoon Tea. The tea room is small and despite the fact that a few of our party were unable to attend we were all cramped around a table in a very hot room. Not a pleasant experience and not one I would repeat. Very poor value for money.

Totally unexpected to come across this pretty little tea shop - London has so many chains so it's always a real treat to find an independent establishment with its own unique character. This little cafe - on the corner of a street - certainly has it's own identity and charm and really catches your eye - the decor then draws you into a calm and relaxed atmosphere. It makes you feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city and yet it is only a 5/10 minute walk from Shepherd's Bush Green. Alternatively, the number 72, 220, 283 and 295 buses from Shepherd's Bush Green towards Hammersmith will drop you at the end of Blythe Road and then it's just a short walk. It's definitely worth the journey.

This little cafe serves great tea and coffee and cakes. On a sunny day it is great to sit outside at one of the two pavement tables. Locals are lucky to have this little gem

I booked this for a family afternoon tea for my hen do. We had the 'Betty Blythe Elegant Afternoon Tea' - and paid for corkage. We were sat upstairs so it was lovely and bright. The food was lovely and came out in order so nothing got too dry whilst we was talking! And we could even take leftovers home! The service was great. They kept the glasses topped up constantly and would refresh the teas and milks when needed. The staff were inviting and gave a nice introduction. A great feature was some vintage accessories that we all tried on and took photo's with.Definitely would recommend!

I went to Betty Blythe Teashop 3 years ago with family and enjoyed the experience. However when I visited a few weeks ago the tearoom downstairs had been completely refurbished. White, bland and lack of the 1920's character we saw 3 years ago. The sandwiches were sparse and dry, the scones were cold and already spread with jam and cream (whether you liked both or not). The waitress appeared twice over the course of 2 hours to ask if we wanted another pit of tea. I was asked when booking whether the occasion was for someone special. I mentioned that we were bringing an American exchange student there to give her an experience of a typical English afternoon tea. However, not sure why I was asked because no mention or interaction was shown at all to my American student. You could dress up (as advertised) but limited outfits). So many more 3 years ago!!!Very disappointed. Won't be going back.

I found this little gem while searching for somewhere different to take my mum for Mother's Day. I had typed in "Vintage tea rooms" into google and this caught my eye. This place is gorgeous, it is a coffee/cake shop when you walk in and then downstairs is a private little tea room complete with vintage decor. The best part, the dressing up accessories!! Betty Blyth has an array of hats and accessories for you to try on and wear throughout your time there. In terms of food, I had opted for the Elegant Tea. This included scrummy finger sandwiches, scones and cake served with endless amounts of tea!! It was safe to say, we left there stuffed and happy. All for the price of £28 pp. The staff were also so lovely and very attentive. Betty Blyth is perfect for any occasion from just a treat to baby showers, hen do, birthdays...just go! It's wonderful.

A nice little find after visiting a travel show at Olympia. Good soup, scone, cake and coffee. We both commented that if we had had the equivalent in Some more affluent areas of London it would have cost twice as much. Friendly staff. A delightful find.

I had bought a Groupon voucher and as I was going to London for a show we decided to have the afternoon tea on the same day. We found Betty Blythes quite easily . The girl serving was friendly and welcoming. She showed us downstairs to the room that they serve the afternoon tea in. There was one table that could seat 7 people, as there was only 2 of us this seemed rather large. The waitress brought our tea drink fairly quickly followed by the sandwiches. These were Ok but a bit dry with not much filling in them. The scones usually with other afternoon teas I have had , arrive ready for the customer to assemble themselves. Ours arrived already done so if you didn't like jam or cream you were a bit stuck. They were tasty but were more the texture of shortbread. there appeared to be only one waitress working that day and as it became busy upstairs she had a lot to do without keep having to come downstairs to us. With a few tweets and a bit of revamping of the room and the dressing up clothes the overall experience could be greatly improved.

I came here with my two friends having booked an afternoon tea for four. The lady at the desk seemed confused and said she thought it was booked for two. I understand these mistakes happen, but it's kind of embarrassing in front of my friends as this was a gift to them. Anyhow we followed the lady downstairs into a basement. It was very cute and very vintage. It had 1920s music playing in the background which was a nice touch and boxes full of hats and jewellery. The dresses that were hung up was a nice touch for photos but not to dress up. I understand these items are vintage however some seemed extremely dirty and neither of us felt to wear any accessories other than the one hat we found that was clean. The cutlery was very vintage and the tea was lovely. However having gone to many afternoon teas the actual food and cakes was the worst by far. The tiniest sandwiches were served. We were told we would receive food for 4 as we paid for that, definitely not for four people. The Choices were very boring. At normal afternoon teas you get served a platter of cakes...not here you don't. You get the waitress coming down the stairs with the tiniest little plates with cold scones with jam and clotted cream already on it! After another 15 mins you get a tiny brownie then a lemon slice you have to share and then to end it off one macaroon! Honestly ? £90 for that then to be given a service charge bill? I gave it because the waitress was very sweet. This cafe has so much potential, I loved the concept and the venue itself....but so much to change to be charging those prices.

Having used the wonderful team at Betty Blythe for an outside catering event last year, I had no hesitation in booking a birthday tea party for my sister at their lovely little tea rooming West London. I'd looked through the reviews here and had been little concerned about size as we were a group of 12. I needn't have worried! Yes, the tea room's small, but with the way the tea party bookings work you end up with a completely private venue. I'm not sure where else in London you get that kind of luxury for a comparable price! The afternoon tea itself was lovely - endless pots of tea from vintage pots, attentive servers topping up our cups, and dinky little sandwiches. This was all finished off with some wonderful scones and cakes. We'd brought along a couple of bottles of bubbly to mark the occasion, which the team whisked into the fridge as soon as we arrived. Our lovely server kept our glasses full throughout the afternoon, adding to the laughs as I was adorned with some of the accessories from the dressing up box! We'd paid in advance, which made the day's activities run seamlessly. There were none of the bill niggles that sometimes occur with a large group ("I only had a glass of water and a slice of bread... Here's 50p towards the bill"). All that was left to pay was the very reasonable 10% service charge and corkage for the bubbles. It meant that we could get ourselves organised for the next stop on our itinerary without any hassle. All in all a 5 * experience!

Popped in for coffee before a long drive and decided to share a toastie. Main moan was paying a tenner for the unsatisfactory privilege of two insipid coffees and an anaemic looking sandwich.

Wanted to do something special for my sister's leaving party so we thought of having afternoon tea with all her closest friends. A colleague of mine had mentioned this tea room so I decided to give it a try and am very pleased I did. The ladies working were really attentive and the food was nice and fresh. We all loved the vintage crockery definitely makes tea taste better. We would have wanted to stay a bit longer but sadly they had a party after ours. I would recommend for a special event.

We were all looking forward to an afternoon tea to celebrate a special birthday. My niece had pre booked and had told the relevant staff that she would need a table that was disable friendly - we were put in the basement and had the disabled person been able to attend it would have been impossible for her to go down fairly steep steps into the basement. The atmosphere was really stuffy and we had no proper ventilation so we were all so glad to get up and go outside again when the 'tea party' was over. No great shakes on the selection of cakes and sandwiches - I really don't see that jam sandwiches on white sliced bread were an appropriate selection having paid £25 per head! My friend who required a gluten free selection was presented with one tomato with a ball of mozzarella cheese in side - not sure I would have had cheek to have even presented it!....Such a great shame as it was a costly experience and was for a special birthday. I would never go back.

We took a long hot journey to reach this restaurant, only to find a small pokey restaurant, where we were seated downstairs, with no air with only a small fan at the back of a very small basement room, with no windows! The waitress gave an indifferent insight into who Betty Blythe was and pointed to a few photos on the wall.. We were then invited to "dress up" in the twenties dresses and hats adorned around the room. Bearing in mind how hot it was, that was the last thing I wanted to be doing! Teapots were put on table, filled up at intervals. I have never had ready made up scones and cream with jam, already done on a plate? Afternoon teas I have been to before, always give you a choice of cakes on stands, so you can decide what to eat. Before this, we were given as a choice, jam sandwiches, in what looked like Mothers Pride bread in triangles, with crusts cut off! If it wasnt my cousins 60th birthday treat, and booked by someone else, I would definitely not have paid the whole of the exotortionate price for what we were given, as expected for a childs tea party! I shall not be returning. The "excellent" reviews seen here, must be talking about another completely different place.

My group of 7 had a lovely tea party at Betty Blythe, in the private area downstairs. The area contained many m any items of clothing from the 1920s/1930s which we could dress up in, take photos etc. The website states that this room can accommodate up to 10, however I have to admit that it was a bit of a squeeze for the 7 of us.The staff were polite enough, and let us take away the remaining food in boxes, nicely wrapped, however they did not allow any deviation from the menu without extra cost. E.g. if you wanted a different type of tea instead of English breakfast tea, for example, and we were told we could take our time to leave, but we felt a bit rushed out at the end of our allocated time. Other than that, we really did have the perfect setting for our group size and have some great memories here.

I visited here with my Mum after booking a Groupon voucher and we both took the day off work to attend. The tea room downstairs is very small, there were just the two tables when we visited. I did have fun playing with some of the items, though many were not in a condition I would wish to wear even briefly - of course this happens with vintage items. The food was we felt below average I'm sorry to say. The sandwiches arrived cold, so we presumed made in advance, and when there are only two tables this isn't what I would hope for. The scones (and I should mentioned I'm from Devon at this point) arrived already with the cream and jam on and we had to share one two, ie half a scone each. This is also disappointing. The service was fine but we weren't asked what we thought, because we would have said. I wouldn't go back or really suggest this to any of my friends. It's a shame, we live around the corner and we wanted to love it. Perhaps best for hen parties.

I booked Betty Blythe for a baby shower after searching the internet high and low for venue that offered afternoon tea in London for under £30 a head in a private room or area. As well as being competitive on the price front, Betty Blythe also served up a great tea. Tea was served in a very pretty room laid up with vintage crockery. There was a lovely, and generous, selection of sandwiches. Delicious homemade scones were loaded with jam and cream and there was a nice selection of cakes too. We had a lovely time. I would just warn baby shower/ hen do organisers to check out the cancellation policy carefully - once you've paid the final balance in advance you can't make any adjustments to numbers - so I'd recommend letting your guests know about this up front. It's a small business so I kind of understand their inflexibility on changing numbers, but I did get caught out. Also be aware that they do turn tables quickly here - they really do mean it when they say that you have a two hour time slot for tea - again I understand why give their space constraints, but you need to be on time!
