Very good. Nice, clean, and well-maintained. Excellent breakfast. Due to its geographical location, they're likely a frequent visitor to France, and this is evident in the food served (more cheese, croissants, and grapes). If I have to find a flaw, let's say that while there's more than one elevator, they're difficult to access, except for the one in the lobby across from reception. This means that going up and down (it has four floors) requires some waiting. Otherwise, it's fantastic. In my case (room 400), the view of the English Channel is unbeatable.

Rooms are nice and clean but small especially bathroom. That said, the rooms are not tiny just seem smaller than premier inn. However I did give three stars instead of four because of two reasons only. The lift is so, so slow it is actually really annoying. Also at breakfast the hash browns are over cooked and the sausage looks so under cooked they actually look raw. Whatever they are doing or not doing they need to stop ! There were four of us staying at this hotel for few days and each of us said same thing and hardly touched the breakfast. The sausage looks so disgusting the catering staff need to change their ways. A simple, unnecessary thing and totally avoidable.

Stayed for 1 night and it was good but only in parts. The room with a sea view was on the first floor and ok, the bed was very comfortable. But some niggles which were annoying. The ironing board / iron was hung in the split wardrobe and took up most of the space. The Tassimo type coffee maker stuck out over the edge of the desk, I nearly knocked it over a couple of times. Creaky floor. The bathroom, no bath but a good shower, was up to date but at night the bathroom got very smelly with the scent of drains, or maybe worse. Only leaving the light / fan on removed it and took a long time. The smell came back quickly. The corridor outside had the same smell. We went to the Mr Whites Chop House, inside the hotel, for dinner. It seems to be predicated of the reputation of Marco Pierre White. It was really no better than what a reasonable pub can serve up, we had a good fillet steak, but with prices 50% higher. Some of the wine prices are preposterous, because the food quality and the restaurant setting just doesn’t justify the outlay. Maybe the London branches are more upmarket. Staff (all very nice) walking through the restaurant with used plastic packaging trailing all over and repair workers wandering around with tool boxes while people are eating doesn’t cut it. The same room is used for breakfast, but when we got there much of the hot food needed topping up and it took a long time . This is easily fixed but there didn’t seem to be any urgency. Not to mention the hotel lift with a mind of its own.

Old building, quite quaint although with a rather strange distribution. Rooms decent, clean and with a nice shower but the room had the original old windows which allowed the freezing wind to blow in off the North Sea entering with little resistance. The heating was pretty weak and couldn't compensate. We had to ask for an extra quilt but it was smaller than the bed (single size for a double bed). Reasonable price for room and we got free parking which is great but rather expensive breakfast. All in all, a typical UK Victorian style hotel. No problem returning now we know what to expect.

We arrived in the late afternoon to check in. We did not notice the ramp to the right of the front entrance so we were dragging our suitcase up the stairs at the front of the building. Check in was quick. The lobby must have been painted recently as you can smell the paint as you walk in. There were also some renovation work on the ground floor. I was surprised with the reception set up. The lifts are small, so it is better to use the stairs. The rooms are smaller than expected. We had a family room with a double bed and pull out small double bed for two adults and two children. Not much walking space around the beds. There were plug and usb sockets near the bed. We got a sea view room, with views of Dover port, which the kids loved. They also loved getting the free Border biccies! I thought there would be a mini fridge seeing as it was a family room, but there wasn’t one. There is a wardrobe, where we hung our coats (no coat hooks), which also housed the hairdryer, iron and iron board inside. The pillow fillings were very crumbly(?), made it uncomfortable to sleep on. Not expected for a four star hotel. The bathroom was big though. Given it was such a big bathroom, the bath tub was small, width wise. For me, it was a close fit standing between the hand rail and shower screen. While moving around, I kept pushing the shower screen open so the water was leaking on to the floor. The sofa bed is definitely not suitable for adults. The kids didn’t want to share a bed, so me and my partner had to sleep with a child each. We took turns sleeping on the sofa bed, as it gave us back ache. It was not a flat mattress, but three separate segments so the middle section was overused and had no support. We should have opted for the room with two double beds and a single bed. We had issues with controlling the room temperature. The vent was directly above the sofa bed and with the way the ceiling was built, the air/heat only came down on the sofa bed that was directly under it. The room ends up very stuffy in the night, but the cold air makes the people on the sofa bed feel very cold. The others in the group felt the same too. It wasn’t until the last night that we decided to turn it off. The rest of the group had double rooms. One had a fridge and their room looked newly renovated. Breakfast was good with lots of variety and is served in the Mr White’s Chophouse restaurant. There are sausages, bacon, hash browns, beans, mushrooms, continental goods and drinks. Only scrambled eggs are served in the buffet section, but you can request for other egg types. Seating is first come, first serve- no bookings required. Just tell the staff member your room number and they will seat you. We got to sit next to the window and you get the view of the beach. Staff are always ready to help you and they are amazing. We wanted to be seated in the bar to have some drinks and desserts, but it was full. The staff kindly offered us to be seated in the restaurant instead, which was really nice of them. Car park was a minute’s walk away at the back of the hotel. Just head out the back revolving doors and cross the road. Further down the road and down the underpass, you can get to the nearby shops and cinema. The spa/gym facilities are located in the basement of the hotel, exit the back revolving doors and turn left to go down the stairs. Overall, I would highly rate this place for location and room rates. Breakfast was lovely and staff were amazing. The bad points would be the quality of the sofa beds and small rooms. If we come back again, we would choose the room with 2 double beds and a single bed. We will also try the chophouse restaurant.

Went there for afternoon tea. Lot of crumbs on the windowsill next to our table and the floor. Waited 35 minutes for sandwiches, scones and cakes. Had to ask for tea despite ordering it. Sandwiches had very minimal filling. Scones best bit of tea. Cakes abysmal. Stale carrot cake and synthetic cheesecakes. Not cakes by my standards. We requested to not have fish, seafood or cucumber sandwiches but were given cucumber! The second pot of tea was peppermint instead of everyday tea. Service by first italian mature waiter not good, almost dismissive, even though we were one of only three tables and therefore no excuse for poor service. Young waiter tried to improve things but damage already done. I would not recommend here for afternoon tea.

Hotel is mid refurb atm so some noise and banging from the building work and checking in station is in a small temporary lobby. The first room they gave me was very pokey, a bit smelly and window would not stay open. Rather oppressing. I traipsed back down, with all bags etc to ask for a better room and got one. Why they couldn’t have given me that in the first place, I don’t know. Otherwise my stay was uneventful. Room clean and fresh. Staff friendly and polite. I would stay there again.

We were really excited about our trip to Dover this weekend. However, sadly the service at the hotel was very poor. I’d pre-booked some add ons which included a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers and rose petals. The rose petals were plastic, the bunch of flowers were left without water and a were a small budget bunch. The champagne was not in the room on arrival, so we called down to reception at 3:30 and asked for it to be brought up. It never arrived after calling 5 times. It eventually appeared in the room after we returned from dinner at about 8:30pm. This was disappointing, but we looked past this, until we saw the “champagne” was actually a sparkling wine and not the champagne that was advertised. We contacted the reception to tell them this, then called again… and again… eventually around 30 minutes later we had the bar manager come to our room door. He took s lock a look, and promised us it was champagne, to which my boyfriend said it wasn’t because it was labelled South African sparkling wine (we had checked online). The bar manager said the bottle was £40 from a wholesalers, we decided to look this up and it retailed on Ocado for £10… He eventually said he would swap it and a new bottle arrived. The bottle we received was LIDL’s £10 champagne! It really wasn’t what we had expected for a 4 star hotel and a £65 package. Very slow responses on the phone, and generally we wasted a lot of time this weekend chasing after things we’d pre ordered. We upgraded our room to a sea view room, the view was lovely but the room very cramped. The bed was smaller than 3 star hotels we’ve stayed at and there was very limited space, even for 2 people. The rooms bathroom was also quite dirty (photos attached). We arrived and someone was in our room trying to fix a broken bathroom mirror, which then remained broken throughout the stay. The spa was also without 2/3 of its facilities on the Saturday with the jacuzzi not working and the sauna out of use. The spa could be improved by adding robes and slippers. The younger female waiting staff in the restaurant were fabulous. Although slightly concerning that they were working late in the restaurant and then working at breakfast. Overall, it seems like a lot of corners are being cut to save money rather than providing a 4-star experience, its 3-star at best.

I received amazing guest service from Gary & Ruchit. However the service on my first and second day of stay from the Indian guy with glasses was average. Also I was told to carry plates from the bar on my own and was told there were no water bottles for the room and had to purchase. There were no room slippers. My room was not vacuumed and had to request twice. I was told the spa was fully booked. So a average experience. It was only on the last day that Gary & Ruchit were there and I felt welcomed at the hotel. However the location of the hotel is great. It has amenities that other hotels might not have in dover. It is 6 minutes walk from the main bus stop and 10 minutes from the rail station by car. Service can improve - need more people like Gary & Ruchit. I had also booked a superior delux room but was given a old double room - so not sure why!

The hotel was undergoing some major repairs whilst we stayed, meaning there was no lobby entrance and there were workmen everywhere. We sadly weren't told about this beforehand and the whole place was in chaos. This meant the service was very poor. The SPA was also a huge disappointment, feeling chaotic and cramped, though the massages somewhat made up for it. We had a largely similar experience for dinner - lovely food, but the service was very much lacking - everything once again felt really chaotic. All in all, even with the repairs completed, I'll be looking at other places to stay when I next visit Dover.

Unfortunately the worst experience we have ever had in a hotel. It's annoying that the heating in the bathroom doesn't work. The fact that the radiator provided cannot be operated due to a lack of sockets in the bathroom is no glory. The fact that all the sockets in the room are switched off when the repair is attempted is also not pleasant. We reported the defects mentioned at reception. Up to this point we weren't happy with the room, but we were able to live with the idea that something could break sometimes. However, what came next is completely unacceptable. Since no other room was available and the significant deficiencies could not be remedied, we were promised a credit upon departure. This should be confirmed by email on the day of departure (01/01/2025) and instructed directly. The hotel manager contacted Best Western after the first review, but had no further response after that. Multiple questions from me remained unanswered. Such treatment is unacceptable and therefore, in our opinion, the hotel is absolutely not recommended.

I don't normally write long reviews but I just spent a night at the Dover Marina hotel and can honestly say it was a great experience. The location and view of the Marina, Port and Dover cliffs was brilliant, rooms were classy and felt very high end, food and drinks menu at the bar was probably the best variety of fusions I have seen. Spa facilities and professionalism really on point. However the biggest draw was the staff friendliness and attitude to making sure we were comfortable and having every thing we needed. We came for a birthday occasion but I would definitely be going back for a short break away or would definitely consider for any future functions. Thank you to all the staff for making our one night really memorable. To many staff to name but I would give you more than 5 stars if I could for the exceptional service.

Very good warm welcome and so helpful as I had just lost eyesight. and they helped out in a very professional and understanding way Since this we went back for Christmas dinner and I was utterly disappointed. I hope it was because they were busy but Christmas day the food was a joke. It ruined what was supposed to be a nice Day. Inedible prawn cocktail had all ingredients but was so bland it was like the chef didn't taste it. If they had the would have noticed the rosemary sauce had all ingredients but just not the right mix. Tabasco used too much, not enough lemon juice, ketchup was minimal it need more to combat the blandness of the mayo. I know this because I have made thousands of these when I was a chef then turned silver service waiter. The main meal was cold temp check not done when left kitchen for table. The desert was Xmas pud and sauce. Stone cold sauce was cold and pudding cold. Both starter and pudding went back uneaten and the waiting staff didn't even ask why? That is a basic question for waiting staff to understand if there are any problems but nothing. I ate the main as I was so hungry I put up with the cold food and risk of food poisoning as it was no where near hot enough to stop bacteria growth. And a restaurant that holds Pierre van whites name out of this very same restaurant I would have expected so much better

This is the most horrible 4* hotel I have ever stayed in. 1) The air conditioning did not work. It was either freezing cold or extremely hot. If you wanted a temperature change you had to go to reception every time to get them change the room temperature from their end 2) the rooms are very small 3) the windows do not close properly. Therefore it is very windy and you can hear the street noise very strongly 4) the reception NEVER answers the phone. So each time you had to go there 5) the spa never answers the phone either 6) at the reception you have to wait at least 10 minutes every time until you get assistance 7) the elevator is totally old and you have to wait at least 5 minutes for it every time 8) there are no water bottles in the room 9) the breakfast buffet is extremely one-sided. No comments on the buns. They are hard like a stone 10) the floors creak so loudly that you can't sleep at night because you can hear all your room neighbors walking 11) the room magnet card did not work several times 12) and for this disaster I paid more than 200€ per night

The room is declared as having 2 double beds, but one of them is a folded-out sofa. We asked the staff about it. Apparently there are no rooms that meet this requirement. Quite wrong for the price. It was said that someone from room service would come and the sofa would be provided with a proper mattress. However, the woman from room service spoke even worse English than the man at reception. Apparently she had no idea what to do and then left after a short while without anything being done to the “bed”. There are also no refrigerators, but there is an unnecessary television, who needs that these days? The bathroom was good and relatively modern, which cannot be said about the rest of the facilities. The location is good, but if you are unlucky there is no sea view. Overall I'm really disappointed. You should be able to expect more from a 4 star Best Western.

This hotel surprised us. The building is very old but kept in great condition and updated. The rooms are small but very comfortable. The restroom was updated as well. We booked a superior ocean view room with a balcony, and I'm so glad we did. Beautiful views, and we actually used the balcony! If privacy on the balcony is important to you, there is none, however, as it's one big balcony with little waist high fences separating the spaces between rooms. It's not a huge deal, but it's worth mentioning. Also, the bar downstairs was popping every night, with a great selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. If we ever visit Dover again, we'd definitely stay here.

The hotel offers a fantastic location, right in front of the beach, which made for a wonderful stay. The service was very nice and attentive. However, there are a few areas where the hotel could improve. The lift is really slow and small, which made it inconvenient to use. I found myself opting for the stairs most of the time. Additionally, there was a gap between the door and the door frame in my room. This allowed light to enter, creating the impression that someone could peep through the gap. As someone who prefers complete darkness to sleep, this was a bit bothersome. Despite these minor issues, the price-to-quality ratio is reasonable.

My friend and I recently enjoyed a dayuse stay at the Best Western Premier Dover, and it was a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and efficient, making the check-in process a breeze. We were even given a parking permit for the hotel's car park behind the building. Our room on the third floor was spotless and beautifully presented. The view from the window was absolutely breathtaking – overlooking Dover Beach itself. It felt like we were in paradise! The bathroom was also well-appointed and clean. Considering the price, I would highly recommend this hotel to couples and friends looking for a relaxing and enjoyable day stay.

Beautiful hotel which pulls off the tricky combination of the classic south coast hotel with modern facilities. The owners have ambitious plans for a comprehensive range of room types and even squeezing in a carriage drive. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

CLEAN!!! Great location, walkable to the ferries and marinas, and also the city center is only a six or seven minute walk away. There were two maintenance issues in my room that I only mentioned when I checked out and I’m confident it’ll be addressed. All of the staff in reception and bar/restaurant are well dressed, professionally groomed and mannered. Good value for the price I paid for the room as well as my bar/restaurant service. I will definitely be staying here again next year.

This hotel has a touch of history. The old creaking and sloping floors of the corridors bring their own spice to this otherwise very modern look. The beds were great and the breakfast plentiful. The only small minus comes from the poor quality of work in the bathrooms of the rooms (disadvantages of the former profession), but in terms of materials and overall appearance, they are great. We were here on a business trip and the close location to the harbor suited us perfectly. What a sea view!

Nice hotel and reasonable rates, our room overlooked the port, which was beautiful. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. We ordered room service and this was easy and fast to do. Would definitely stay again as this was a stay for our onward travel plans.

These old buildings look character full but often have many disadvantages over a purpose built modern building. Room was noisy at night. The noise was coming from the port. The room lacked the ability to block this noise out. Service was good and the 2 meals I had in the hotel were good. It also has a better location than most of the other hotels in Dover.

Great location with good views from the room, however the hotel is in massive need of tlc as well as the rooms, they’re extremely worn out. Beds really uncomfortable and very small so could not get a good night sleep. Bathroom surprisingly looked really well, was cleaned and had good toiletries. Rooms are also quite small and the tv is not in front of the bed which makes is uncomfortable to watch it. For the price paid is not necessary a good value as they’re better hotels in the area, but it is certainly an overated place for the beach views. It certainly does not met the 4* hotel standards for the cleanliness of the public areas, reception staff which are ignoring guests to sort “restaurant issues” in the middle of check-in their guests, which is an unprofessional service. Nevermind the lift that is just ridiculous, old, and waiting forever. It is a 3* with indulgence.

I didn't stay here or eat. I enjoyed the service in the bar area and staff were really nice. I looked at the food menu and looked decent and also the deals they have on rooms including 3 courses and the breakfast. They have this time of year since great deals and would definitely recommend this place for meeting people and being well looked after! Also a great place for functions too! Will more than likely be a 5 Star when I stay and eat!

I had an 8 night stay split over two weeks at the hotel with my colleagues. My colleagues had such a poor stay in the 1st week they cancelled their following weeks stay and spent the week in the premier inn and warned all of our colleagues about the hotel too. 1st week i was supposed to check in on sunday but work had other plans for me so i phoned sunday morning and told them i would be checking in until Wednesday, i didnt want to cancel and i was happy to pay for the unused nights. I arrive Wednesday and they state as i was a no show they had cancelled my room. After a lot of toing and froing they finally gave me a room the room was tiny and had a view of scaffolding, the scaffolding was upto the window so you couldnt have the curtains open incase someone appeared at your window. On week 1 i also had no wifi in my room, i mentioned this daily to the front desk and they assured me it was working, alas because my room was as far away from the router as possible it couldn't be detected on multiple devices. 2nd week i was put in another small room this time the aircon vent rattled constantly despite being turned off, 2 phone calls were lodged with front desk and despite stating someone would come up and deal with it no one arrived. So packed up and insisted they moved me thankfully they put me in a much larger room. The room was fine apart from the tv guide didnt work which is awkward when the tv remote didnt have numbers on it to change channels. The bathroom was freezing, its sole heat source was a small towel rail. The whole hotel could do with a refresh and run over with a paint brush. Finally the staff. On two occasions i held a door open for a member of staff and they bowled straight through no thank you's. I spend approx 150nights a year in hotels and decided to mix things up by using best westerns but if this is the standard of the chain i think i will go elsewhere.

Lovely and cosy hotel with great location! Friendly staff, clean around. Delicious breakfast and food at all at the restaurant. We had room with sea view and balcony. Jacuzzi and spa area are lovely, but I would add a swimming pool also 😇 The hotel is very close to the Station Dover Priory, 15 min walking. One thing I didn't like that rooms don't match photos from the website. Our room was smaller than expected. Bed is comfortable, but not big. However, I saw staff take care of their customers. Thank you for having us!

We had a great time at the hotel. The spa was especially nice, and the massage very relaxing. We initially had a room that was noisy because there was a problem with the AC. We had to ask multiple times on the phone for them to change our room but they eventually did and were helpful and nice about. We also had the afternoon tea which was really tasty. It was very nice that the spa was accessible the whole two days even tho we only stayed a night.

Had a great stay at this hotel. All staff were great. Room was clean & tidy but not sure how legal the gap under the room door (fire door) is. Only had one towel but once we visited reception, housekeeping was too us in less than 5 minutes. Shame hotel doesn’t have its own parking as you have to park in the wharf behind. Could be a very wet walk when raining. Bar staff very friendly but bar area needed some more seats as after being out both of our nights we fancied a beer. Got served quickly but nowhere to sit so sat at bar first night which was not comfortable . Second night sat outside which was cold.

It's a fantastic hotel in a great location with fantastic staff, unfortunately let down by very poor maintenance. We stayed for the night and after reading reviews I hoped it wouldn't be as described in the negative ones but unfortunately the issues mentioned were there waiting for us. Having said that though if you ignore the fact it's meant to be a four star hotel then it's really very nice. Our room meant well and the views over the harbour were brilliant. The restaurant was fantastic as was our meal, cooked to perfection and served by very attentive staff. The hotel bar was cosy and relaxing and again the bar staff were brilliant. The breakfast was again Fantastic with everything for everyone's needs. It's a very old building but really shouldn't be an excuse for the really quiet poor maintenance issues we had. Would visit again and would recommend but not for more than a couple of nights for me. :Edited for the purpose of the reply to my review. This review was of my one and only visit to Dover best western and I have not as suggested in the reply left positive reviews for it before. I was fair in my my review but obviously the establishment like to make things up to bat away negative reviews rather than actually deal with issues so often reported. So now I shall add the supporting photos which I hadn't originally, like A loose radiator in bathroom. Main door catch broken so door didn't shut properly without slamming. Shower frame pulling off of wall. Stained pillow upon arrival. Bathroom sink constantly backing up and smelling of dirty drains. Toilet pulling off of wall Bottom of bathroom door blown through water damage and being a cheap hollow door.

Stopped here for lunch but a little disappointed. Had the curried cauliflower soup which tasted like a bowl of curry sauce heated up and my husband had a burger which was very bland. I found it expensive for the portion size. I have heard good reviews about the dinner menu so may try again in the evening.

After reading the mixed reviews was having doubt's about this hotel. So glad we stayed, it was very clean and tidy and still had the bath in which I like instead of a shower. Couldn't fault it. Staff friendly and the Beefeater restaurant next door was excellent. Enjoyed our four day's stay immensely. Good place to explore Dover Castle and surrounding areas. Would highly recommend

Nice guesthouse in the middle of town. Still gives a good impression of an English pub in a small town.
