Best Western Lion Restaurant in Bassetlaw

When I meet for lunch in town with a friend I always come here. But yesterday we found the menu was very limited only offering sandwiches or jacket potatoes. I opted for the cheese and onion sandwich on brown, I was expecting a nice quality maybe granary bread but was given the sandwich on the thinnest cheapest bread you can find. We are both vegetarian and have previously had the sizzling halloumi plate so was very disappointed when these weren't on the menu.

The food is good, there is a good selection. We did not like eating where locals where stood drinking next to us, but it seems to be a pub for locals also Food was hot and came quickly, a tad expensive

Stayed for 2 nights in a spotless,quiet room with everything we needed. Tea,coffee,shower gel etc. Breakfast east tasty with a very good selection of hot and cold food. We booked through Groupon so terrific value for money. Right in the centre of Worksop with free parking. Would recommend to anyone.

Probably the only place to eat in Worksop town centre. Obviously used by locals as well as guests. Menu offered a good choice and the servers were friendly.

We have been here one night arrived late on Friday so first full day. About midday went to purchase a coffee from the bar area while my wife went shopping and was told I had to move 5 feet around the corner to another area to be served because the bar I as standing at was for waiters. There were only two people in the bar and no waiters, but still after talking to a "manager" ??????, I was told they would not serve me from this area, appalling customer service. Why not take my money and serve me without any fuss, these people get my Jobsworth award. Unfortunately we are here for another night, if I had been on my own I would have checked out today. I am afraid this is what Worksop is like no wonder the town is in decline if the service you get from these people is so bad.

Beautiful food. Extremely good value for money. The Sticky Toffee pudding was incredible. Definately go again

Recently visited here for a Family birthday meal, last minute decision and impulse booking. On arrival there was about 6 people in the restaurant which left me dubious but it was the 4th of Jan (just after Xmas) and a Thursday, so didn’t worry too much. Staff sorted drinks and a table pretty quickly. One waitress (didn’t get her name) was very polite and kept checking if we were ready to order but left a reasonable amount of time between asking, once we were ready the waitress promptly took the order without any issues. Starters arrived quickly, two of us had starters which were very nice, portion size a little small on the garlic mushrooms but very tasty. For mains Sea bass, Salmon, Chicken, Burger. All arrived really well presented, and still piping hot, rare these days!! I had the chicken breast which was delicious and plentiful, everyone else had very good comments to make about their meals. The Chef is obviously very talented and runs a good kitchen. The atmosphere was lacking and let it down a bit, probably as it was so quiet and it’s a large room to fill. The bar area was busy as we left so it’s obviously a popular watering hole. 4 very nice meals inc two starters and 1 desert with 2 rounds of drinks £77 you really can’t grumble at that. Will definitely visit again for the food alone. Some staff need a little more motivation but most were very good. Given a 4 but would have gone 3.5 if possible, so was generous because the food was very good and rounded up. Food 4/5 Staff 3.5/5 Atmosphere 3/5

Food pretty basic, service slow and random. Musak to die to. Certainly real people but didn’t see any real ales. Hilarious that when we went to the bar we were told to order food from the other side where we were served by the same person.

Always start with a positive so here goes ...... the view from the window was pleasant This has got to be one of the most dreadful meals we have experienced on a family meal out Where to start Mr D had squid ring starter they we so thin they were transparent and could have fitted on a little finger my starter of soup didn't know the vegetable as there was no taste no seasoning We all opted for burger with various fillings no taste bland bland the twice cooked chips were black and under cooked with a tiny pot of bland coleslaw Didn't even bother with dessert you are wondering why we ate anything it's because we had hardly eaten during the day as we were busy and knew we would be having an early dinner No one asked if we had enjoyed our meal or was everything okay Should have walked away when the paper menus on a clip board were on the table and why would we want to eat off wooden blocks I'm no snob but surly health and hygiene the blocks were scratched from obvious use from other dinners sorry not for me it's a big 👎👎👎

we were staying in the hotel and had booked a table a month before, they told me we did not have a booking even though reception confirmed this but did manage to find us a small out of the way table, food was not brilliant so we looked for somewhere else for the following night.

Good location, close to town, good parking. Average breakfast. Rooms are large and very serviceable, good stable wifi

We visited last weekend for a work's Christmas party. Pre-ordering meals and payment etc was quick and easy. We had originally booked for a tribute night but had to cancel and rebook a different date. Customer service was brilliant as we were able to transfer the deposit paid to the new date which we really appreciated. The night itself was great. Food was lovely, drinks were cheap and the atmosphere was good. Staff clearly worked hard to make sure everything ran smoothly. We will definitely be returning soon. My only slight criticism would be that we rang to ask what time the evening finished and was told 12:30. At 12 when we tried to order drinks, we were told the bar had closed. That was a little annoying as it could have been mentioned when we rang or last orders should have been called.

Went in here for lunch after Mother of the bride shopping next door at House of Elegance. What a waste of time and money, staff the worse I have ever witnessed. Sullen, rude, no smiles and poor service. Just opened for lunch and floor was filthy, obviously cleaner not doing her job. Maybe it was the staff !! Actually food not to bad but salad the most basic ever and no salad dressing, offered salad cream or balsamic vinegar!!! Save your money we will not be going back.

Enjoyed my meals during the stay, make sure you reserve a table if you want to eat during the busy hours. The food was great quality and served in good time, the staff seemed a little young and inexperienced but made up for it in being very helpful and courteous.

Went there tonight for a meal for valentines day no attempt to make it even look romantic Food average no special menu went 3 yrs ago and was amazing evening

Nos alojamos en el Hotel Lion y habíamos reservado una mesa cuando reservamos la habitación. Nos llegó y me dijeron que no tenía reserva para nosotros, pero estábamos "suerte" y tenían un par de mesas disponibles.

The restaurant is on site the food was very good and plenty of choice for breakfast only criticism would be not a lot of choice on evening menu.

La comida estaba bien preparada y presentada y muy sabrosa, la cerveza era un poco dudoso tuve que pedirles a cambio porque había en negro (Limpio flotadores las tuberías más a menudo) La segunda pinta no era mucho mejor. El vino estaba bien. Los precios eran bastante buenos para un bar de hotel.

I stay here for work and whilst it isn't amazing it is good quality and consistent. The food is what i consider to be good comfort food. It isn't amazing but is a high 3 low 4. For Worksop I expect its great.

Pleasantly surprised by this lovely hotel. Nice Room large bathroom and all comforts required. Did not have dinner in the hotel but the menu looked good and very reasonable.

Me and my hubby went in for a meal before a visit to the cinema had spaghetti with chicken and Stilton, mushroom sauce and hubby had gnocchi with chicken and chorizo both were very tasty and very reasonably priced, will be visiting again soon 😀

probado este lugar para algo diferente. Muy bien decorado, acogedor, bastante bien de precio y buena calidad de bebidas. La hamburguesa de boniato. El único problema que tuve fue que el panecillo parecía realmente barato y correosos. Una hamburguesa deberían tener un bollo escabechado! Pero volveré a probar algo diferente! Estará bien aquí en el verano, y siempre está lleno cuando me pasa.

Nos alojamos en el hotel BW León y tuvimos nuestra cena en el restaurante. El personal es amable y servicial. Habitación está limpia. visitado sobre todo por los lugareños para un bier pero no un ambiente de pub. Yo comimos cordero cordero y estaba delicioso. Mi esposa tenía carne, pero no era bueno. Los precios están bien.

Me parece que el León hotel/restaurante está de vuelta en el formulario. Teníamos un almuerzo del día de la Madre fantástica, 7 adultos y 1 niño y 1 bebé y el servicio y la comida eran excepcionales. Estuvimos en una habitación decorada de funciones y todos disfrutamos mucho su almuerzo, que era un 3 platos a un precio razonable con mucha variedad para todos los gustos y paladares.

Reservamos una mesa para celebrar el cumpleaños de mi marido con un grupo de amigos. El servicio era malo esperamos durante más de 45 minutos para los platos principales para salir. Mi marido pidió un bistec que salió primero sin sus patatas fritas que tenía que esperar hasta después de todas las otras comidas salió que tardó 10 minutos esto significaba que su comida se enfriaba y uno de nuestros huéspedes. El director nos ofreció un sustituto comida que llegamos después de media nuestros huéspedes había dejado. noche miserables.

Quality food, comfy and reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Salmon Fish cakes and pasta dishes recommended.

Ate here early Sunday evening. Very quiet. Good service. Not a big menu with pudding choice being very limited. Food was well cooked and well presented (don't like chips in buckets though). Smart , modern bar/grill.

We have had many excellent evening meals in this restaurant, the chef is adventurous and produces tasty, creative food at a very reasonable price. The waiting staff are most courteous and friendly and helpful.

We eat at the restaurant once a week.Allways a good menu to choose from at reasonable prices,tastes good as well.Really nice friendly staff,Daniel especially.

Enjoyed the restaurant while staying in the Hotel the menu was surprisingly different to most hotels in that it was adventurous but without being pretentious and what I have found on my travels is that generally people who stay in hotels generally go out to eat. the food was served in good time by friendly staff and very well presented and equally tasty. Also at no time did you feel rushed to get the starter finished to serve the main. and afterword's not rushed to leave so the y could clear up. there was also a good amount of space between the tables so you did not feel that everyone was listening to your conversation. Thoroughly enjoyed it and will go again if in the area

It was a nice hotel and i couldnt fault that. The restaurant on the other hand was appauling. The service and the time waiting was something to complain about.

well done chef. fantastic pastry and filling on the meat and potato pie, smooth creamy mash, not a lump or black bit in sight. This not hotel food this is restaurant food. very popular with the locals too it seems.

absolutely awful food and service. verging on inedible........food still frozen none of the waiting staff bothered to offer any condiments, sauces, dressings etc
