What is this place ? Adams family ?? Gave me the creeps, smelly, no one serving, looked like a derelict place. The song hotel California sprang to mind so we left immediately. Surprised it is not closed down.

Visited here with a family of 6 for a Saturday lunch. The staff were all very polite and professional. Good selection of drinks, served in clean glasses. Food was delicious and perfect for a light lunch. I had the soup and a sandwich option and the rest of the family went for the sandwich, chips and salad garnish option. All lovely. You could tell the meats were freshly carved, and that the coleslaw was homemade, as were the chunky chips! A really nice lunch trip, in a beautiful setting; just what we were looking for. Thank you to the staff of the pub and the kitchen.

This place is disgusting, we’d give it ZERO if possible. Dirty rooms that haven’t been cleaned properly in forever. The room was full of dust & smelled musty. To top it off the window wouldn’t shut & we were freezing. We were so cold that we had to ask a member of staff to put the heating on for us but he didn’t know how to do it. Apparently none of the staff there did: we spend the remainder of the night shivering in bed trying to get warm. We complained to the Manager the next day & said we were not staying the second night we had booked. We were given our money back for that but no compensation for the first night which is disgusting, considering we didn’t get a wink of sleep as we were absolutely frozen. Why would you put guests in a room that’s dirty & the window doesn’t close fully? Absolutely shocking. We will be contacting Best Western as we're not happy about being charged for a room where we couldn’t even sleep in because it was so cold.

We decided to go here for afternoon tea after having a spa day in the connected spa - should have got lunch in there like most people do! The place was run down and a bit dirty, and our food had obviously been prepared much earlier and put in the fridge until we arrived from the staleness of the bread on the tops of the sandwiches. Noticed a large mould spot on one of the macaroons, which was also on another of them, and there were a few stray hairs/fluff on food too. Food was absolutely NOT worth all that, so definitely wouldn’t recommend!! Steer clear haha, hopefully they get the place sorted

Me & my partner arrived for Sunday lunch, being aware of this hotel's prior good reputation. At £11.00 for a regular carvery, we felt the quality did not match the pleasant surroundings & that an average pub lunch would represent better value. The range of vegetables was good & they were well cooked, but the stuffing was hard & dry. The roast pork was too thickly carved & tough. The Yorkshire pudding however, was cooked just right & appeared to have been freshly prepared. We were also surprised that the only choice was the carvery. Don't bother going here, it doesn't live up to its image & prior reputation, just find an average pub that does serves food!

Who runs this place ? The Adamms family. OK, they are nice, but the old guy sat with his paper is just so Lurch.....nice though. It's like going back 100 years, and quite fusty. Food was OK and the barmaid was rather cute.

We found this hotel to be beautiful. It had lots of wonderful pieces of furniture etc which were interesting and traditional. The hotel has an old world relaxing atmosphere, not be be confused with dated or old fashioned! Very quirky and staff were extremely friendly and polite. The breakfast array was lovely and good quality. Our room was large and clean and we have already booked to go again!

My friend and I visited the Bell Hotel in Driffield today (10th November) for Sunday lunch. We love this place, especially around Christmas time as it is quirky and old fashioned in the best possible way. I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive as I read a few negative comments for the carvery on this site, but as we’ve visited several times over the years and always enjoyed lovely food we went anyway. I needn’t have worried. The food was excellent as always. Beautiful meats with a huge selection of fresh vegetables and friendly efficient service. BTW, the pigs in blankets here are gorgeous! Roast potatoes are to die for. With 3 sizes of carvery to choose from, what more could you ask for? I wholeheartedly recommend the Bell Hotel food, and we’ll be back again soon!

I stayed here for two nights to attended a friends wedding nearby. Booking a Best Western you’d expect it to at least resemble a large chain hotel. The hotel is very Victorian, on first glance this is quite charming but when you actually take a second look, the hotel is rickety, dated and not very clean. Upon arrival there was no one manning the reception, we waited a few minutes and then rang the bell for assistance. An employee who was working the bar came to assist us and told us he was the only one working. He checked us in no problems and showed us up to our room. The room was large, it even had another room attached to it that serves as a living room. The whole room had an usual smell about it, it was clean smell, but very strong. The room is well equipped with hair dryer, iron and a kettle. The bedding had some stains on the pillows. The windows have an aftermarket double glazing panel on them meaning it’s pretty difficult to open the window, which you would need to do because the rooms are very warm even when the heating turns off. The dressing gowns provided clearly used to be white and now were a yellowish colour. The bathroom is very dated like the rest of the room, but it does the job. In general the entire place could be cleaner. Breakfast wasn’t included in our room but for £10 each we could have had a buffet or a cooked to order breakfast. Neither of which looked appetising and the atmosphere in the dingy room where breakfast is served is worse than that of a wake. The staff in general were all friendly and helpful. Overall, I wouldn’t pay to stay again but it did the job of a place to sleep adequately.

Racket stopped at 21.07 but started again at 21.35 this time even louder and accompanied by a droning voice going on until 22.05. Unbelievable! Thinks it's over. So much for some time to relax and an early night in bed before an early start in the morning. Who on earth decides to organise something like this during the week and don't they realise a booming bass trumpet isn't to everyone's liking?Just to give an idea of the time period you'll be stepping back into I've included a photo of the bathroom complete with bath taps that don't work. Prepare for extra squeaky floorboards throughout as well.

A group of 4 friends visited for afternoon tea and the spa for a birthday treat. Firstly the staff room about 10 minutes to acknowledge us. Then "had to" bring the tea out even though we were still waiting for one person to arrive. When we asked for more milk took 15 minutes. Upon entering the spa we were told there were no treatment slots available (even though we were the only ones in the spa!) staff took us to changing rooms and returned 5 minutes later, tutting when we weren't ready! The pool was good as was the steam room but sauna was too dry and no water bucket available like you would normally have. All in all staff let the place down due to laziness and being unprofessional. Wouldn't return.

We visited here for my mums birthday. we had a groupon for 4 of us to use all of the facilities and have the afternoon tea. the facilities and staff were amazing, but the afternoon tea was a bit of a let down. i had rang to organise a bottle of champagne to be served with the tea, but it wasnt ready and the staff didnt know about it which ment we got the wrong one. also the cream was not fresh whipped which would have made it that bit better. over all it was a good day and good value for money, but i wouldnt pay full price for it.

Went today for lunch , I decided i was having soup , they said it was the last portion so that was fine , I asked for no bread which , when it came it was the smallest half bowl of soup for £6.25 , I didn’t want anything knocking off for not having the bread but did expect a full dish, looking at the menu I could of had a small breakfast, or sandwich for about the same price , it’s soup where do they get over £6 for it!!
