Down for a few days with the wife and are black lab Luna 1st thing there dog friendly but make sure to ring ahead and let them know ordered sea food chowder which was 👌👌👌👌 The wife ordered Cesar salad was lovely as well For the main the wife got gougon s in a panko coating and they where massive I got the buttered chilli chicken burger was was gorgeous we got some sides I got the chips and also chilli cubes to be honest where covered in chilli sausezand very sicking a chilli flakes or salt would have been nicer but overall really gr8 experience the Guinness Also was 👌

Out with friends we all had a great meal would highly recommend the chicken and steak combo 😋 . If I had to give any criticism service a bit slow. And value for money great!!. 2 chicken and steak combo, 1 steak and chicken burger 2 bottles of wine and 2 pints £125 !!!!

My family and I have visited a couple of times over the past month or so, both for food and drinks. A warm and inviting atmosphere, the food is delicious and fantastically priced should you wish to have 1,2 or 3 courses. The staff are also very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommended the Sunday roast 😍

Went for a meal with family early evening, which included my 18 month old grandchild. Menu offer was £16 for 2 courses but the 2 courses had to be a starter and main course not main course and a dessert. Also, menu stated that the offer was £21 if you wanted either fish or a steak. When asked if the cod and chips were included in this we were told it was and then the waitress came back and said it wasn't but they didn't have any! We then waited over an hour for the food to be served despite asking if the toddler's meal could be served fairly quickly as they were getting tired. In the end we asked for everything to come out all at once so that we could go, but the child's meal still came out after all the other meals (which weren't great). The waitress was very apologetic, but said the boss had said that that was how things were! Not good customer service. Would not recommend this place!

I haven’t been to this spot since January but I was in the Village recently and thought I’d call in. From what I remember, the food you used to receive was very good but now you can’t say the same. The whole atmosphere and vibe of this bar has completely changed which is not in a good way. The Boss has a real attitude problem and does not take criticism well. (would do the place abit of good if she maybe listened) It is clear she tries to make the place more than what it can be, for example having basic bar grub at restaurant prices? If the bar was run right and have a major update with interior it would definitely do a lot better than it is doing now. The night I was in all I seen was things going wrong with other tables orders and the boss did not seem very apologetic (seemed more like an argument of she’s right they’re wrong) for her businesses mistake. I feel sorry for her staff having to work for a person like that, it is absolutely disgraceful. From what I can tell the staff are on their own and receive little to none support from their boss. Absolute shame, the place has went extremely downhill.

Great spot for a pint and couple of lines. Normally head here before a night on the cobbles. Skinny jeans are mandatory

Ignore their signs that claim to the contrary, this place does not offer all day food! Arrived at 2pm for lunch only to be told they aren't doing food.

One year on from our last visit (glutten for punishment) and this place has learned nothing. Always willing to give some one another chance. Under staffed and poorly trained this is more of a pub grub outlet at resturant prices. The manager has now increased her ability to argue with the customer rather than put wrong to right. Booked for 19:30, sat down at 19:25, recived some of the food at 20:45 and the rest at 21:00. Steak had to be sent back which eventually turned up after one of us went looking for it, gammon was not gammon but bacon chop. Seems the manager does not know which part of a pig is which and openly argued her point with myself the customer. If appologys had have been given no amount of them could have excused how poor a resturant this place is.

This being the only bar left in Castlerock it should be straight forward to achieve a reasonable level of satisfaction. Unfortunately the owner thinks she is owed a living.

Was there over the St. Patrick’s weekend, heard great reviews about the food and thought we had to give it a go. As expected the food was delicious, the location made it even better. Although it was obviously a busy weekend, the staff working and the manger I believe was very welcoming and lovely which adds to making the experience better. It was heard that the “boss” was out of the country, which is confusing considering the big weekend they had. Makes you question if there is any support towards staff? That aside food was delicious and the staff that night were excellent

The staff here are super friendly but the substandard food let's it down. I think I've ever been charged so much for such low quality. And that was all before I was given someone else's bill. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone I like

Went last night for a meal and we were a bit nervous due to all the COVID19 rules but no need to worry it was so well organised . It was very busy but all the tables were distanced and outside area covered in for drinks too. ( it was too cold to eat outside) The service and food was excellent. We had sea bass,steak and for dessert highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and orange cake. Great chef. Will be back asap!!

If you want to eat in your local community centre then this is the place for you. Ready mixed cocktails, feisty hostess, ordinary food, what more could you ask for?

Found out in the tourist centre, a hundred yards up the street, this place was actually open. Was with a 5 year old so got a kids burger and an adult one with chips. Service a little slow in that if you are catching a train make sure you have plenty of time. Burger and chip exactly what it was burger and chip! No frills.If management "jeeded" themselves up this could be a goldmine for as far as I could see there is very few sit in eateries in Castlerock. Price wise a bit steep for what one got but staff very helpful.

Was decent enough, but the garden salad was a bit raggedy. The pepper sauce was poor and the mushrooms were sliced then fried, which is all right, but the portion was too small.I enjoyed the steak, it was perfectly cooked only let down by the accompaniaments. Price was very competitive, staff were excellent, and the Covid precautions were top notch.

Visited Bertha’s Bar yesterday for lunch with my cousins, who were staying with me. This was going to be my third visit in as many weeks. I thought it would be a good opportunity to take advantage of the ‘Dine out to Help Out’ ....what a mistake! The “creamy champ” was nonexistent, in its place was a small lump of badly mashed slimy potatoes. We all had the sea bass. The skin on the sea bass was not crispy and had to be removed... everything seemed to be heated up. The other two times I had visited the food had been completely different. The first time it was to check the place out as I was bringing a group of seven ladies for lunch and they all enjoyed it, saying how good it was! We paid the full price on both of those occasions. I feel that yesterday, because we were getting “a deal” we could be served substandard food...big mistake! They are being subsidised by the government and are not loosing out but at this rate they will be loosing customers in the future as I will not be back and I certainly will not be recommending it.

We went to Bertha’s tonight, 2 adults and 3 children. We were told it would be an hour wait as they were busy. Fair enough. 2 hours later we are getting our dinner. Ok, fair enough they were busy. However, what we were served was absolutely disgusting. Our children were starving and the food was so bad they couldn’t even eat it! We had to make them pancakes when we got home! The chillie chicken pasta was nothing short of disgusting! The chips...oh my! how a place can go so wrong with chips is beyond me! The “manager” was so rude. I have honestly never experienced anything like that in my life! I feel sorry for the staff that have to deal with her. So unprofessional. Not only will we never be back, we will be sure to spread the word that this place is a shambles! Disgusting!

First night of our holiday as a treat we went to Bertha's bar. Staff explained it was busy so would have to wait an hour. We thought ok least we would have our dinner in that time.Just over 2 hours later and 3 very hungry children our food arrived. My sister had the chilli pasta which you would need a straw to drink the sauce and they just sliced peppers and put on top.The chips were not edible, I ordered the steak sandwich with peppered sauce. There was that much thin peppered sauce my sandwich was drowning. I wasn't sure if it was spaghetti or onions in the sandwich.The children could not eat their dinner it was so bad.We explained to the staff how disappointed we were and they replied the sauce is normally thicker well don't serve sub standard food. They stated they would take the sides off but they had phoned the manager.Manager arrives but putting her handbag behind the bar first was her top priority. She came over and asked if there was an issue we explained that the dinner was not edible, to say the least she had no interest.When we asked about the portion size of onion rings she stated as we were only paying half price the portions were smaller, I explained she was getting the full amount as the government was making up the rest eat out to help out scheme. She then said well I haven't got it yet.I wouldn't even pay half price for this meal.We had to go home and make the children pancakes as they were starving.Very very poor service from this so called manager who has more interest in the amount of people she gets in through the door and how much money she can make rather than quality.I will not be recommending Bertha's bar to anyone and I feel so sorry for the staff who work under this manager if that's the way she treats paying customers dread to think how the staff are treated.

Generous portions of fresh sea bass with mash in a lovely creamy sauce, washed down with a pint of Guinness. What's not to like??

Food was very basic & appeared to have been cooled and reheated in a microwave. The potatoes were horrible. Glasses & cutlery were dirty. Staff were friendly but food was not nice. A total waste of money. Would not recommend

Friendly place for a quick bite to eat. Reasonable choice for main courses but no desserts served which was a bit disappointing as this was a special treat for the last night of our holiday in Castlerock. I do love my puddings! The waitress joked that their desserts were alcohol, so I thought a nice cocktail would finish off my meal nicely, but NO, they dont do cocktails either! Food was tasty, reasonably priced and staff friendly, just dont expect any sweet nibbles

We popped into Berthas for lunch . The bar guy was excellent, very polite and good service. My partner got a steak which I tasted and it must be the juiciest , melt in your month steak I’ve ever tasted. I was jealous I hadn’t ordered one . I had fish was was so very fresh , lovely . The champ was the best seasoned champ I’ve had . Altogether. Lovely meal . Would definitely recommend

Tried the chicken stack tonight and it was great. Food was served very quickly and was piping hot.Staff were very helpful and attentive. We had a nice bottle of wine with our meal which totalled just over £30 for wine, 2 mains and an extra side.On a cold night by the coast Berthas was very warm and inviting. Great craic with the locals and now serving great food.Worth a go even if you have previously eaten here and been disappointed.

This is a lovely Bar where one can sit and enjoy a quiet drink and watch the visitors to the village come and go. Good friendly service and within thirty yards (sorry meters) of the Railway Station.

Visited only because the sign outside daid "Under new management" and because we had a card giving 2 For 1.We were still disappointed. Food was ok but the place was dark and uninviting. Entrance is past the smokers congregated outside and then past the open-door toilet.First and last visit for us.

We stopped at berthas for food one of our nights in Castlerock, the food was average wouldn’t be my favourite, I have chicken and mash in a puddle of peppered sauce. but they allowed dogs into the restaurant which was a bonus as we like to bring the family pet, nice place to have a drink however

This pub is so much fun. The beer is the best, and there is always something going on, music or a football match on TV. I can't wait to go back!

Beautiful setting, fantastic staff, just love this little pub. Guinness is top class. Beside a train station that links to both Belfast and Londonderry.

Our family local when we're at our castlerock home. Great family environment and great live music. Just recently reopened it has proved to be very popular. Unfortunately no bar food or I would have given full Mark's. Sorry !

It's closed.??? Don't know when or if it will open. If you want good food, a good bar and intertwinement then you will have to travel to the anglers rest be one.

We visit this place all the time as we have a caravan in castlerock, we called in on Saturday 18th may 2018 to watch the cup final with my wife, mum and 2 kids, was a good crowd in and as I was standing at the bar, the barman made me aware he saw me but a regular come thru the door and asked him over my shoulder wat he could get him, I had to say im waiting to order!! Also there was a happy hour which ran from 7-8pm which was a double vodka and coke , after ordering the double vodka we were told it was just a dash of coke, which didn't state that, nibbles were supposed to be served during happy hour too and was told there wasn't going to be nibbles as there is a BBQ later in, which actually didn't happen either, sowas a little disappointed on Saturday, as I say, we always drink in it when we're down, maybe next time I'll be better and the grey haired barman is a little bit nicer, other than that, I've had great times in it.

Called for lunch with friends as it has been recommended. Only one member of staff on, Gave our order and after a good 30 to 40 minute wait we asked how much longer our food would be. When it finally came five minutes later, it was uneatable,

We visited Berthas a few weeks ago for the Sunday dinner. It was amazing, three courses for £11.99 and the portions were huge. Children are catered for and their portions were generous too.

Russell, Nicky and Ivan are great bartenders making sure all feel welcomed. To top it off, had carvery Sunday which exceeded our expectations. Hats off to Chef Gerard. Didn't get all the rest of the staffers names but all friendly and attentive. Went 5 of 7 days while on our vacation. May enter as a stranger, but you will leave as a friend! Special shout out for the special dessert for the wife's birthday. Nice gesture and touch. Thanks all !!!

If you want a party venue which can look after everything for you and give a quality night then Berthas is the place for you.

Booked here for Sunday carvery- what can I say- fantastic food- good choice of starters. Roasts were fantastic- great portion and good choice of veg. Had desert too- you are able to pick 1,2 or 3 courses- you will not leave here hungry. Lovely staff and dog friendly too in the bar. They brought our 2 chihuahuas water and treats- will defo come back when in the area.

What a great place for a Sunday lunch / carvery . A good choice of fresh cooked starters and a great selection of meats at the carvery. Then finish it all off with a lovely dessert.

Spent a very enjoyable evening having a few pints and watching football with family. Would recommend this venue - haven't sampled the food, but intend to the next time I visit.

Me encanta que este lugar es perro, no en el restaurante principal pero son tan servicial y amable cuando se visita con nuestro perrito. Están más que dispuestos a servir comida en el bar o en el jardín de la cerveza y siempre hacen lo posible por ayudar.

Cenamos en Berthas Domingo 14 de mayo. El servicio y la comida muy buena. Sin duda volvería. Las entradas llegaron rápidamente, principal campo era bueno y asados nuestros desiertos también eran muy, muy bueno! ! !

Nos mandaron formar a sus Berthas restaurante afiliado de la calle para el almuerzo durante una visita en abril. El comedor no tenía carácter y música durante la tarde sólo se hizo el espacio menos agradable. El personal era desinteresado. Tiempo de espera para la comida era inusualmente largo con ninguna explicación. Nos contemplado salir. Probablemente nadie habría notado. La comida no era nada especial.

Currently in the area for Easter and decided to call into Berthas for an evening meal, including myself my husband, his mother and father and our son, first impressions staff were rude to say the least, the man behind the bar seemed disinterested and not willing to even speak to us. The restaurant itself is basically a pub function room- not the high class restaurant and grill as stated on signs. Menu was very appealing it's a shame the 'food' we were served didn't reflect this, my husbands steak had a strange smell and taste to reflect this, I ordered peppered chicken which was cooked fine but the tobacco onions were cold, throughout the visit staff seemed disinterested, we had to go up and get our drinks from the bar as no one came near us after our meal was served! Was also quite loud music playing throughout our visit which is very off putting for those coming in for a family meal.

Had a great meal tonight. Seasoned well and really tasty triple cooked chips. Cosy and friendly atmosphere. Stayed for the live music. Great night.

If your looking pub grub, then I would say below normal standards, prices cheap and food reflected this, food wasn't up to scratch, mashed potatoes lumpy, meat on verge of cold veg was minimal , staff attentive but food let them down, starters took 20 mins to arrive, drinks weren't brought till after starters, another let down won't be rushing back, waiting staff maybe not trained as highly as should be, overall very disappointing experience, partner booked on off chance as seen good reviews but future reference will take us else where...

Had a lunchtime party here for about 80 people. The staff were very helpful on the run up to the day and made the organising of the event pain free. They were also very accomadating of dietary needs etc.A great location for an informal gathering and the food was fantastic. Curry and chilli con carne served off a hot plate which everyone raved about.Well worth a visit.

We just needed a winter break to blow the cobwebs away so me, my wife and daughter during our stay called in to Berthas for an evening meal. The comfortable surroundings and friendly service meant we did not leave till closing time. The food was good, not your fine dining but it filled the gap.

Discovered this place after an invigorating winter walk. Was disappointed to learn Bertha isn't involved but nevertheless it's a great wee bar.

Berthas have a great offer of two steaks and a bottle of wine for £30. We went last Saturday to try it out. Great value for money. Good size steaks cooked to perfection. Thoroughly recommend.

I visited Berthas Bar & Restaurant last Sunday for the Carvery. I have a mobile at Castlerock and I am often in Berthas Bar during the caravan season, but this was the first time for the Carvery. Other mobile-home owners rave about the Sunday lunch, so I thought I would give it a try. I made a reservation for 4 people on the day before and asked would it be ok if I could have the meal in the bar area as I would have my dog with me. It wasn't a problem. When we arrived we were offered to have lunch in the bar area or the snug, but the bar area was warm and comfortable so we decided to just stay there. There was a wide range of starters on the menu and this was served to us. My dog was then served with a bowl of water and treats. For our main course we selected from the carvery. There was ham, chicken, beef, meat loaf, cocktail sausages, stuffing, roast/mashed potatoes and a wide variety of fresh vegetables and gravy. The plates were also warmed. For desert we chose from a menu and this was served to us. We all agreed that the Sunday lunch was excellent, could not have faulted any of it and all the staff were very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant and snug area were full of diners all enjoying Sunday lunch. At £10.00 per head for a 3 course excellent Sunday lunch, you could see why.

Called in on chance.Busy restaurant but table for 2 available.First time here for Sunday carvery.Chef came down and explained menu and format.Great selection of starters.I had chicken and my friend had cod.Main course usual carvery beef,ham,turkey,chicken etc with sides of peas,cabbage,cocktail sausages,carrots roast potatoes,mash and gravy.Good selection of desserts available if you have room.

Found this place on Trip Advisor and so called in for the Sunday Carvery. It was packed but the really lovely staff found us a table and we had an excellent three course Sunday lunch for £10 a head ( yes, you read that right!) + drinks. Talk about value for money! Beautiful melt-in-the-mouth beef, also gammon and chicken. Tons of fresh veg ( help yourself) and tasty starters and huge choice of desserts. To top it all the waiting on staff were so nice. Helpful and willing to share a joke with us from over the water.Go but book in case you can't get a table. Excellent.

We had the Sunday carvery 3 courses for £10. We seemed to have been forgotten about as we were seated in the front bar while we waited but the service improved when we got seated. The value was fantastic and we had more than enough to eat. Would definitely return

Four of us went for the Sunday Carvey £10 for 3 courses. Food was excellent and carvery offered beef, ham and turkey. Starter and sweet were also good. But we found the service quite poor, possibly understaffed as the place was full, The whole place could also do with a make over and getting rid of the TV's from that area whilst lunch is being served. I was also surprise to be charged 50p for paying by debit card. But overall a good visit.

It's NOT fine dining, but oh boy, the carvery is superb. The staff were lovely, very child friendly, squeezed us in on a busy Sunday. We only spend one week a year in Castlerock, but we will be back. Yum!

Called in for Sunday lunch it is £10 for three courses so was not expecting anything great. But what a surprise choice of starter was excellent main of turkey and ham selection of potatoes and veg choice of dessert. Portion sizes excellent. While basic decor and food for £10 an excellent lunch. Also dog friendly but you have to eat in the bar.

Enjoyable evening watching euros cup final game staff very friendly and great atmosphere meals of excellent choice

Really enjoyed my Sunday lunch here. Good food, good prices and good staff. The only negative I have is that although it wasnt overly busy the day we ate there I feel that the dining area may fill up pretty quick. Overall though a great meal - the chef knows his gluten which was really good.

Didnt expect much from this seaside Bar/Restaurant. Went in and the place was absolutely jammed. As i didnt book a table had to wait 20minutes in the bar to be seated. it was worth the wait. never had a sunday dinner like it. the meat just melted in your mouth and they are very generous with their portions. the homemade cheesecake was delicious. i had chrunchie and my husband had the terrys chocolate orange. both really tasty. the waiter was really busy but he still took time to have a wee chat with us. i like the personal touch which you dont really see anymore in restaurants.i will make a point of coming back here. a must try if in your in the area.

Myself and my friends called today and had lunch, Chef and staff made us all very welcome. The food was delicious the meat was so tender and the flavor was beautiful.Large portions more that we could eat, the Chef was so so helpful as I had 2 young children who wanted chicken nuggets and chips, the Chef went out of his way to accommodate the children. I recommend that you go and check this place out o yes the price is brilliant, hey did I also mention the beautiful view of the sea

Have eaten here many times and as always pure perfection . The food whatever you choose off the carvery or the menu you wont be dissapointed you will not leave hungry fact ! the staff are most friendly and will go out of their way to attend to your needs . The team there offers a beautiful menu and the deserts HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...Also the time an effort gearld make prepaireing his foods is of no other especially his carrots they are a must have delicious ... the view of the beach is wonderful ..and a beautiful friendly .. we shall return with thanks to all at Berthas Bar Castlerock :)

We were in Berthas again for sunday cavery, food excellent.The roast beef and gammon unbelievable, nice and tender.We go as often as we can and we have and will continue to recommend this place to everyone.Many thanks to Gerard and staff for another brilliant meal.Sean & Bird.

Went there on Sunday evening around 6.30pm, there were no staff to be seen, then went to the bar where I received the most unfriendly looks you could possibly get, I then didn't bother to look in any other part, the place looked empty which is never a good sign anyway, glad this happened because all 6 of us went to the point bar in magilligan and got the most beautiful meal any of us could have asked for.

I eat here at least twice a month sometimes more. The food is unbelievable, the staff is helpful and know exactly how the public should be treated. If your looking for a nice and child friendly place to eat this is the place to be, and the view is great for a relaxing time. Kay.

I ate here several times when I visited the Downhill/Castlerock area and I must say I really enjoyed it. Such a nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and stunning views of the beach. The food was exquisite and man they do an awesome burger.I took my family here for the Sunday carvery and I have to say again the food and the service was outstanding. Really inexpensive and the portions were fantastic. I would definitely eat here again.

I eat here most Sunday's from March to November. The food is excellent, the slow cooked roast beef melts in your mouth. Try it I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Linda

Friendly family run bar. Live entertainment moat weekends. Sunday Carvery to die for . Never had beef so tender. A must try for the beef alone
