A little old fashioned to look at but the service and food are great. The staff are a delight to chat with and the speed of service was remarkable. The breakfast menu is huge and the oatcake breakfasts are absolutely delicious. We visited twice in three days. One of the best cafes I have been to.

Great scones and service. My friend from the United States thought they were the best she had during her visit to the U.K. The staff are excellent and the coffee great and reasonably priced. The home made lunches are the best. One of the staff showed me and my friend photographs from her trip to the USA- how great is that for making the customer feel special. Will definitely visit again.

Cute little cafe, which also contains the village post office. As mentioned several times before, service was quite slow. We arrived at 2.30pm and were keen to order hot food before the 3pm cut off point. The cafe wasn’t busy (only one other table was occupied) but we had to wait for around 15 minutes before a staff member came to take our order. My daughter-in-law and I just wanted cakes, but my son wanted hot food, and the staff member questioned whether or not the kitchen was still open - which was when I pointed what was written on the menu, as well as the fact that we’d been waiting for 15 minutes to be acknowledged. She agreed and we ordered. I had the Apple Crumble with ice-cream and although it wasn’t the most aesthetically appealing dish, it was delicious. My son and daughter-in-law also enjoyed their food. Despite the slow service I would still visit here again. The staff member we spoke to was lovely, and I have no complaints about her at all. Maybe the kitchen was winding down (hence her initial response) but if we’d been served more rapidly our orders would have been in half an hour before the kitchen closes.

Beresford Tea Rooms is a must for anyone in the Hartington area. We have been coming here for years and although I now live in Canada, and can't visit regularly, I always make sure I visit when I am in the UK. It is such a cute venue set in the picturesque village of Hartington, and it serves the most amazing cakes!! My favourite is the coffee cake! It is the best I have ever had and I'm married to a chef! So delicious and it never disappoints! The service is always excellent and the staff are super friendly! Make this a go to on your next visit to the Derbyshire Dales. You will not be disappointed!

I have been going to the tea rooms for several years and I have to say that the breakfast I had was the worst ever. Prices have risen but I am afraid that the quality has taken a serious drop in quality, sausages not much thicker than a pencil one side black, partly cooked egg with raw egg white which in my opinion should not have been sent out. Very fatty bacon sort of cooked, the mushrooms were ok but cut very small. All in all very disappointing to say the least.

Walked to Hartington from home fully intending to grab a bite to eat here. We arrived at 13.40pm and so had a good hour to dine then get the bus back. We had different meals: bacon, brie & cranbury and hot crusty bread, and the second meal was a big breakfast but had 2 x eggs plus an oatcake, and a pot of tea for two. It was all absolutely fantastic, large, tasty and great value for money. A quick tub of raspberry ripple ice-cream finished it off perfectly. Apart from the great food the service and staff were absolutely wonderful....... Top notch. Lovely people that go above and beyond with a smile. I recommend 100% and we shall be regulars, but I think we'll drive there in future. A big thank you to everyone for everything!!!

Sadly we’ve now had two not so great experiences with this cafe whereby the staff who were in cafe on the days we were visiting were abrupt and a bit rude to us. It’s a shame as we as a large group of friends were trying to be friendly even when we were met with a less than friendly welcome and wanted to support this little cafe. We stayed for as long as it took us to drink our drinks and left. It seems that we must’ve visited on two off days as other reviews (which encouraged us to come here in the first place) seem to suggest this kind of welcome is not the norm.

A gem of a place in a quaint village. Popped in for lunch a few days ago and we were not disappointed. Lovely food and staff (including Jess and Anna) very friendly, helpful and cheerful. Ham baguette, sausage & cheese baguette (both with salad/coleslaw/crisps), milkshake, pot of tea (with extra water) and not a crumb left! Oh.....and a Bakewell slice and carrot cake for takeaway! No room for ice cream unfortunately. Thankyou Beresford for your amazing service and we'll see you again soon. Andy & Jane

What a lovely tearoom. We went first time on Saturday and popped in again before we left for home today. The first visit was so good, my husband had omelette and I had red pepper and goats cheese quiche. This came with salad, coleslaw and thick crusty bread. It was so good. Today my husband had a tasty toastie, and I had a 3 cheese and stilton quiche..it was so good, it was better than the first one! Absolutely delicious, and what a big portion! Such good value for money too. We will definitely go in there again when we are up that way. Really good customer service, friendly staff.

My husband gave his meal top marks with the mushrooms very tasty. The order was taken very quickly but the wait for the food was just a touch too long. The tea-rooms here face onto the market square in the centre of the village, with free parking in the square too, so a good location for the start and finish of walks. They also house the tiny village post office and a small gift shop section - both a key to their success I’m sure. A traditional set-up with several small tables squeezed into a limited space, but that hardly matters if what you need is a cuppa - or food (the specials board looked appealing with green risotto and salad one of the lunchtime offerings). Tea is a bit pricey though - £4 for a small pot of Earl Grey for two was more than we expected. The tea-rooms do the job, but possibly not somewhere to make a special trip to visit.

Stayed at the YHA and came down the hill to the tea rooms for breakfast, and so glad we did. Had the full English, which was really nice, and then returned the next day for the Beresford Breakfast Oatcake...which was absolutely delicious. Coffee was good, staff were lovely and they have one of the smallest post offices I have ever seen inside the tea rooms. Highly recommend.

We often call here either for coffee or lunch. They are very obliging and always make my wife's coffee just how she likes it. The food is freshly prepared and very tasty and reasonably priced

We stopped in at this delightful tea room and had enormous home made fruit scones and jam accompanied by pots of tea (one of them decaf). The scones were delicious and the atmosphere very warm and cosy. The owners were very friendly. People were eating lovely looking meals and looking relaxed and happy. It also was a post office and sold cards and gifts. Would love to go there again.

Lots of good reviews here already. Just wanted to say that there is a good range of hot and cold food at lunch time, all reasonably priced, and a nice change from the typical pub grub main costs

Called in for an ice cream this afternoon - salted caramel and a bubble gum. Overall quick service and tasted fine.

Charming Cafe it is. The coffee is very good. The photos of table laid with cutlery and napkins and lovely decor enticed us drive out to Monsal Head where we know the views are wonderful to have a light lunch. BUT We sat at a table and although the place was empty ( very rainy outside ) the staff didn’t acknowledge us, say hello even or explain it is counter service only. If you are expecting food, think again. No meals, No sandwiches, No baked potatoes or anything substantial, just a few cakes, savoury pies and sausage rolls Most disappointing. Wasted journey. WILL NOT VISIT AGAIN. Hassop Station nearby saved the day fortunately.

We were staying close by so popped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Service was a little slow initially and they did get my own order wrong, however the manager could not have been more apologetic so first class customer service. The food was lovely when it arrived and the coffee was great also.

great little bakery in the centre of wirksworth, spotlessly clean, and run by a friendly elderly couple, who make everything homemade. cakes, pastries, and homemade pies, and also coffeees, teas, and cold drinks.very reasonable prices, and just up the road from Wirksworth railway station. i always pop in for treats when i catch the train up from Duffield for the afternoon, recomended..! :-)

We recently stayed locally for two nights and ate at the Miner’s Arms both nights. Nic was so friendly and helpful. The food was delicious on the first night but on bonfire night, we ordered the greedy Greek platter on Nic’s recommendation and it was excellent! Delicious food, really dog friendly and very welcoming. We’ll be back!
