Great food. For starters, we had mussels and crab soup which was creamy and flavoursome, oysters and squid. For mains, we had fish, a fish curry and lobster spaghetti. The fish of the day was beautifully seasoned, fish curry was ok, lobster spaghetti was also ok. I was hoping for a bang but didnt get it. Nevertheless the starters were to die for and if I had to rechoose, I would go pure seafood! Service was great and the atmosphere upstairs was warm and pleasant. I think downstairs would have been a better option given the live piano.

We booked a table for Valentine’s Day with high hopes. Unfortunately, we were left very disappointed and will not be returning. The food was good, but the experience was overshadowed by awful service. The doormen and coat room staff were very polite and friendly, but our server in the oyster bar was anything but. He didn’t welcome us to the table and seemed in a foul mood. Once we had ordered, he yanked our menus from under our plates and cutlery in an aggressive manner, almost knocking the glasses off the table. When we had finished our starter he proceeded to take our dishes without asking if we had finished or enjoyed the food. Basic courtesy and professionalism which you’d expect from this place was lacking. Towards the end of the night he proceeded to have an argument with bar staff in front of the restaurant and we heard shouting and swearing in the kitchen between staff. This culminated in him shouting in the kitchen “Don’t F***ing touch me” before coming out and pretty much bullying a member of staff behind the bar, saying “how dare you stand in front of my face and make jokes”. The entire experience was extremely awkward and we felt very unwelcome. I did not want to pay the service charge. The menu was not cheap, so considering the money we paid c.£300 (starter + main + bottle of wine + oysters) the experience was not up to standard and ruined what should have been a special experience. We will not be returning or recommending.

Visited for dinner with my partner. He’s not a fan of ‘fish and chips’ so thought he’d try it at Bentleys to see if that changed his mind. Unfortunately it didn’t. The fish looked overcooked (the batter was quite dark), he said it was dry and not very tasty, and the batter seemed too thick when I tried it. It did not seem to me that it had been freshly battered and fried. I had the fish pie which was fine but nothing more than that. Overall quite disappointed and don’t think we will be back.

It has been a long time sine I went to this place, possibly decades. And I should be ashamed, as this is probably the best fish restaurant in Central London. I went for a very late lunch and wanted to eat fish, and I was so happy to see that the place was still serving food at 14-14.30, the time I arrived. The staff at the reception was very nice and smiling, she gave me a table straightaway and even made me choose between the counter or the table, a rarity nowadays when you do not have a reservation. The guy who served me was another brilliant person, competent, efficient, ready to give advice and his timing for everything was absolutely perfect . The space is beautiful, timeless, the clientele is friendly and happy to talk to their next door table, there is a real, civilised buzz to this establishment. The food: it is impeccable, well cooked, well presented, solid, consistently delicious. I started with a combination of 6 oysters, 3 of them were Irish and Scottish if I remember correctly, the other 3 I do not recall. The ones on the left of the picture were astonishingly good, the other 3 not as incredible like the others, but still exceptional. I paired them with a great Piper-Heidsieck champagne glass, and this was a perfect start to a memorable meal. I also ordered the octopus special as a starter, and it was paired with a Petit Lestrille Sauvignon Blanc, yet another perfect match suggested by the amazing staff that was looking after me. I ordered the Turbot as a main, a big, chunky, perfectly cooked piece of fish of the highest quality, and it came with some divine mash and a langoustine sauce that was “” I want to lick the plate, but I am not dong that as I am a polite, civilised human being “ type of sauce. Incredible ! This main course was paired with a Montagny Premier Cru Domaine Laroche, a burgundy that was magnificent, it left me speechless. The last part of the meal was clearly the dessert, and I had to have the Crepes Suzette! This is one of my favourite desserts of all time, but, sadly, it is rarely found anywhere l, including Paris, and, when found, it is done badly. Not here! They flambéed it table side with Armagnac instead of Grand Marnier, and it was amazing! That was the perfect ending to a faultless meal! I spent a good couple of hours there, and I could have stayed longer. I recommend this to anyone that wants to treat themselves, or wants to impress a nice, competent foodie friend, or wants to go on a date, wants to propose to their partner, or celebrate a special occasion ! It is that kind of magical place where anyone that ever visits will be longing to come back as soon as possible ! A must !

Excellent oyster and seafood restaurant for a special occasion. Service is friendly, helpful and efficient. Staff go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your visit. We tried each of the hot rock oysters, garlic baked and Catalan (with chorizo and aioli). The octopus starter from the daily specials contained probably the nicest octopus I’ve ever eaten. The squid stuffed with feta and chorizo with chilli clams was also delicious. The fish pie was hands down the best I’ve ever eaten. It was packed with large prawns, salmon and cod. The lobster spaghetti was also a generous portion in a lovely tomato and basil sauce. All dishes (especially the fish pie) are a good size and sadly we were too full for the tasty sounding desserts, however, we manage some complimentary chocolate and fudge they provided for a birthday occasion. The door to the kitchen was across from our table and there was a continuous stream of staff going in and out through a very noisy door. More disturbing was the parade of garbage bags and large garbage bins. I cannot believe that it does not violate some health department rules to carry garbage past dining clients. I usually don’t leave negative reviews unless it is truly deserved, but I felt compelled to share this experience. We had already had lunch, but we decided to visit this restaurant because I wanted to try British oysters. A staff member in a white uniform who was managing the terrace explained the menu to us very thoroughly. However, my friend cannot eat seafood and wasn’t hungry, so I ordered a glass of wine and some oysters for myself. The staff member, perhaps thinking we had ordered too little, rudely snatched away my friend’s plate, fork, and knife in an unpleasant manner. Later, when we added another dish to our order, he brought a plate back but almost threw it onto the table. I asked him if he was angry with me, and he replied that he was just busy and there was no reason for him to be upset. If he acted that way without being upset, it was incredibly rude and unacceptable behavior for someone working in a restaurant. On the other hand, if he was indeed upset and acted out because of it, that would be even stranger and more unprofessional. I am extremely angry that I paid £100 and was treated this way. I will never visit this restaurant again. Except for this one staff member, the other staffs in suits were perfectly polite, witty, and professional. The food was also delicious. However, this person’s behavior as part of the team was deeply disappointing.

MORE AT Google

There are weeks when the heavens part, the stars align, and the gods of gastronomy beam down upon you. This, dear reader, has been one such week for me. Not once, but twice I’ve graced the hallowed halls of Bentley’s in Mayfair. First, hosting a client Christmas lunch in the Mersea private dining room, and then again on Saturday night, celebrating my wife’s birthday with friends. Now, those of you smirking and muttering about my lack of imagination would be entirely correct. But I’ll have the last laugh here, because if there’s one restaurant I could choose to frequent for the rest of my life, it would be Bentley’s. Allow me to elucidate. The Food Oh, the food. Where to begin? Each bite was nothing short of transcendent. The oysters, glistening jewels of the ocean, were impossibly fresh, transporting you straight to the rugged shores of County Galway. The bread arrived warm, its crust yielding to reveal a pillowy interior that demanded immediate slathering with butter. And the scallops? Sweet, tender, and so moorish I began to question the etiquette of licking the shells. Then there was the halibut, its delicate flakes suffused with moisture and flavor. It’s the sort of fish dish that makes you pause mid-conversation to marvel at the sheer brilliance of it all. Frankly, I’d wager there isn’t a single misstep on the menu. Every morsel is a masterclass, a symphony of flavor crafted with unparalleled skill. The Venue Bentley’s doesn’t merely feel like London; it *is* London. It’s a living, breathing embodiment of the city’s history, tradition, and effortless style. The warren of rooms buzzes with conviviality, each space a tableau of happy diners and sparkling glasses. It’s charmingly eclectic, with an atmosphere that somehow makes you feel both a guest and a regular from the moment you step through the door. The Service And then, of course, the service. Good service is expected; exceptional service is rare. But Bentley’s? They’ve turned it into an art form. This is service as it should be — attentive but never intrusive, warm but never cloying. Max, the manager, presides over it all like a maestro conducting an orchestra, setting a tone of impeccable professionalism laced with genuine charm. The team anticipates your needs before you’ve even articulated them. Your glass never runs dry, yet you never feel hovered over. It’s the sort of service that leaves you not just satisfied but slightly in love with everyone involved. The Conclusion In a world where dining out can feel increasingly transactional, Bentley’s is a beacon of what’s possible when every element — food, service, atmosphere — aligns perfectly. This week has reminded me that life is too short for mediocrity. I don’t want to eat out just anywhere; I want to eat at Bentley’s. Anything else simply won’t do.

My partner and I really felt this was an appropriate birthday treat (for the both of us!) but we look forward to bringing family and friends back for any occasion we can possibly think of. Bravo, ragazzi!

Me and 5 friends went to bentleys to continue my friends 21st birthday celebrations. We were welcomed in on arrival by some lovely front of house staff and was seated at the bar. Alessandro served us our drinks for the evening and was incredibly kind and nice to us all evening and was very accommodating to all requests we had. Would 100% recommend giving this spot a visit as was the best place we went to all day!

Magnificent. All. The oysters, unbeatable. And a very professional and attentive service. The Galician maître and, above all, a Bolivian waiter, outstanding. I'll be back soon.

One star is only left for the service and kind waiter. Avoid unless you enjoy feeling violently ill, both my friend and I got food poisoning starting at almost exactly the same time the following day. Sickness/diarrhoea, fever, cramps and dizziness. We both had exactly the same as we shared the squid starter and seafood platter and apple dessert with one cocktail each.

Overall nice experience but not very impressive. Friendly staffs…Dressed crab very fresh, the sirloin steak slightly overcooked(we asked for medium) oysters not the best that we’ve ever tasted. Lobster bisque just quite ordinary.

A fabulously stylish place with excellent staff and superb food. I'm sure it's wonderful at any time of year but we had a wonderfully cosy lunch there recently. The a la carte menu offers great choice (Cornish crab and mussel soup, Devon smoked eel and baked scallop particular highlights), but we also enjoyed some excellent specials (beef and oyster pie a standout). Highly recommended special spot in central London.

The taste is reasonable and the service is friendly. The oysters were also fresh and delicious. I really liked the delicate service, such as wrapping the lemon in a cloth to prevent the seeds from falling out.

A great restaurant with lovely food and good service. Its ambience is nice, too. The cost of a meal is a td on the high side.

I was in London for 1 day and I’m so glad I choose this place to eat lunch. I met chef Federico and he was awesome. I had an amazing experience dining here and already told my friends in the US about it. Their fish and chips were the best I’ve had in my life. When I go visit London again I will definitely go and visit this place again.

A longstanding favourite of mine. Consistently good in an understated style. Quality ingredients sourced sustainably and largely locally.

We have had several dinners in London during our visit. Two of the establishments we already dined at were Michelin places. One of those was very good, the other one was somewhat disappointing. Although to my knowledge, Bentley’s is not Michelin starred. It should be. They do seafood really, really well. I love lobster. The cooked lobster, I got one-half, was fresh as possible; grilled to perfection with bread crumbs and spices; bathed in garlic butter; and topped with a small, lightly dressed green salad; simply divine! I have had none better. My husband wanted their fish and chips. I had a bite of both - absolutely spot on! Best chips but the fish, incredible! We are older patrons so we sat in the oyster bar which is the original part of the restaurant from 1916. Charming beyond belief. There is a gentleman behind the oyster bar who will shuck fresh oysters as you watch if that is your pleasure. Lots of fun! And dessert: best sticky toffee pudding ever! Wonderful wine and cocktail menus as well. Lastly, we were both tired from a very long Sunday and our waiter went out to the corner cross street to hail us a cab. As we told the charming hostess, this was our favorite London restaurant so far. Truly awesome!

This was not my first visit to Bentley’s. The fish as you’d expect was excellent. However I was shocked that the house Chablis we drank cost us over £130 a bottle (including voluntary 15% service charge). And the bread rolls were really indifferent. I would have expected better.

Excellent food and a fantastic crew As usual lovely meal in a nice place, sadly after have emailed to check to make sure you had a stock of Mount Gay Extra Old Rum and was told yes only to find that my guest had to switch to a Rum which he did not enjoy for most of our stay at the restaurant."

Okay tasting food (I tried beyti only, not very good not very bad but way too much tomato sauce in my opinion) The best thing about this place was the ambiance. It was nicely decorated with interesting photos from Turkey.

Ate here with my other half recently for a special occasion meal. For a starter and main each, shared dessert, half bottle of wine, two bottles of sparkling water and service, the bill was £550. Now, the service was excellent, and the food of the highest quality, and I get that hotel restaurants in London are going to be “expensive plus” but this wasn’t a £550 meal. It was a high £200s meal. Even with hotel overheads I can’t figure out where the extra £250-or-so came from. All this is immaterial because if you’re going to eat at the Connaught Grill you don’t care what I think. You’ll have an excellent meal but you won’t get value for money.
