Bentley's Café in Cardiff

A very good variety of breakfast, vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Excellent coffee; the cortado just as I like it. Always a nice display of cakes too. The staff are professional and friendly. Bentley's is a busy café, so the best times, for me personally, are between breakfast and lunch, and mid afternoon. I am happy to recommend Bentley's.

We had breakfast at Bentley's café during our stay in Cardiff. Impeccable service, very attentive servers. The plates are generous and everything is very good. We recommend this address.

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! It’s a lovely place, with friendly staff, and it’s not too expensive either! Their food and drink options are quality and fantastic. Always feel looked after everytime I come in

Really nice little cafe, not too busy on a Sunday afternoon and service was friendly without the, "hey guys everything okay?" every 20 minutes. I had a wrap and chose the side salad over chips, the dressing in the side salad was really tasty and my wrap was properly full. Peach ice tea tasted like a proper peach tea rather than a peach syrup concoction. Good selection of drinks in the fridge (was excited to see glass bottles of pop!) as well as hot drinks and smoothies on offer. My friend and I shared a slice of pistachio cake after and that was really tasty, too. Keen to come back and try a breakfast ☺️

A good Sunday morning breakfast and plenty on the plate. Place was very busy but the service was friendly and quick.

A lot of people complain about increasing prices in current climate. I don't know how this owner does it but what you get for the price here is incredible, the owner is lovely and approachable, food is top quality and his staff provides high quality service. 5 stars from me ⭐

Had a great first experience at Bentley's Cafe. I ordered a set breakfast and a latte, the breakfast was one of the best I've had in Cardiff, bacon was done well to my liking and overall not an oily/greasy breakfast that some cafes tend to serve up. The latte was nice and presented well. They have a great menu, with lots of different food choices for breakfast and lunch/early dinner. Also they had a great choice of cold drinks, smoothies and milkshakes. We visited on a Saturday morning before it became busy and the cafe was well staffed and the service was great. We can certainly see why it is a popular cafe, and it will be our go to from now on for a nice breakfast.

Nice breakfast, prompt service but a little pricey

Great breakfast and very polite staff this is a regular breakfast spot for me and a few friends and it never disappoints.

Kids were desperate to go out for breakfast - I suspect one of their cartoon favourites had done the same - so took them to Bentleys! No kids options beyond the usual "chips and XXXXX" which was a bit disappointing but they were happy for us to split an adult breakfast between them. We all enjoyed the breakfast and the eggs were cooked to perfection but if I was going to be picky, better quality sausages would have been nice. Coffee was scalding hot which means it stays warm during the meal, but probably needs to have the milk steamed slightly less to get the best out of it.

One if the best in Cardiff. Super service lovely friendly staff, and excellent food. Thoroughly recommended.

Was encouraged to enter by a satisfied customer who simply uttered "do it" as she was leaving. How could I ignore such a clear endorsement? Quick and friendly service, topped off by a cracking Set Breakfast.

We walked 20 minutes here from Mercure hotel in Cardiff, it is a very welcoming cafe. You are seated professionally like a restaurant, the service was excellent. Modern decor with a traditional twist. The menu size was perfect with good options. Only minor downside maybe the plates were too big but it looked like they were trying fill the plate and so spread the food out. The food quality was good, very tasty. The prices are slightly higher than elsewhere. The smoothies were amazing !! Will definitely come back.

Worth the 10 minute wait for a table, I am a glass half full kinda guy.....however from coming to going a great experience. 👍 now a favourite in my maps app.

Fairly overpriced for the quality of ingredients. Despite the speed of it coming to my table, half of it was cold and portion sizes were quite small. Eggs overcooked. And for some reason they feel the need to put everything in separate little bowls on the plate.. Very average coffee. Friendly staff Will not go again unfortunately

This a cracking little local independent cafe. I happened across it by happy accident on a Sunday afternoon and am very pleased to have done so. The portions and ingredient proportions are generous and delicious - I had eaten the cheese on toast before it dawned on me to do a photo and review. Very friendly as well - I will return and would recommend. It’s also open longer hours and more days than many of the other Wellfield Road options.

I don’t normally leave reviews but after our bad experience today I was so annoyed I had to say something. So we are fairly regular customers having discovered Bentleys a couple of months ago, and even took some friends who were visiting recently when we all fancied a breakfast. I popped in this afternoon with my husband, and as usual we both tried to order breakfast, with a couple of tweaks. My husband has digestive problems and things like tomatoes and toast trigger that. Also, I dislike sausages, so as usual we intended to swap these things as we have done before with no problem. Indeed we have seen other customers do exactly the same on a number of occasions. Well my husband went to the counter and that’s when things went downhill. Normally the staff are smiley and accommodating, but today he was met by a dark haired young lady who looked like there was a bad smell under her nose and she was somehow doing us a favour. On asking, as usual, to swap these items she looked really annoyed, huffed and puffed, said she couldn’t, but then sort of relented when my husband pushed it. But, horror of horrors, he dared to ask to swap the toast or tomato for an egg! She said we couldn’t, and when he explained he had done this many times before, she stated the egg costs more than the toast or tomato! But here’s the thing, we have always been told the swaps are meat for meat and non meat for non meat. My husband would happily have paid a bit extra but her attitude was so bad we walked out. Look here’s the thing, a business has every right to decide how it sells its products, and if the clear policy was no swapping, then fair enough. But the problem here was this person’s horrible attitude and the we never previously had any problems swapping. Yes this is a first world problem for sure, and it’s only a cooked breakfast after all, but the attitude is what got us, and it is so unnecessary because they have now lost two regular customers. We gave three stars as the food is normally good, but this server really needs to jump on the customer service train before it leaves the station! Hey ho.

Lovely food, friendly, helpful service, clean and tidy place. Reasonable too. Hubby always gets a huge brekky and he really enjoys it, but equally, if you only want a coffee, or a small bite, the lovely people who work there are happy to serve you with that too.

Very welcoming cafe. Looked perfect for what we were after. Modern but with a traditional twist. Good size menu. Would recommend dropping the paninis and going for pancakes or waffles for the sweet tooths...not bad but didn't match up to expectations.

Really nice breakfasts and lovely service. Would be nice if there was a halal meat (like a beef sausage) option for breakfasts, as my partner is Muslim and always ends up having to have vegetarian. Other than its really nice

The restaurant and coffee is great! However the waitresses cannot understand either Welsh or English and whatever you ask for is continuously different to what you receive! They are not trained sufficiently! Management needs to understand CUSTOMER NEEDS AND NOT STAFF SHORT CUTS!!! & Attitudes towards customer needs etc. They are letting Bentley s down!

Pretty busy at times and good decor inside. Staff service is nice. We got given a wobbly table which was annoying at times. Ordered the eggs benedict which had flovour and presented well the only shame was one of the eggs were slightly under cooked. Couldn't fault the tasty mocha as well.

Sorry but had a really poor experience with breakfast this morning! Service was slow! Food was poor. Mainly due to the poor quality of ingredients. I think it comes down to expectations as usual!

Darlows of Albany Road are big fans of Bentleys, they do the best breakfasts & omelettes on Wellfield Road. The staff are always friendly and chat when I come in.

I've been back and forth for a decade now; the place is still performing beautifully! Some posher spots are squeezing the market now, so this place responds by just doing the greasy spoon that little bit better, and with pleasant service.

Yo estaba siendo hablado por el personal, muy poco profesional, el servicio era pésimo y mesas sucias y pegajosas. Parece que el jefe que tiene ojos ciegos a lo que sucedía alrededor de él. I have passed this café many times but never been in there until yesterday. Very surprised great food with great prices and good service. you can't go wrong for the price and great looking breakfast.

Staff friendly but the place hasnt been updated for at least 8 years it looks a bit run down especially with all the competition in this area, they charge similar prices for drinks but the quality is very basic.

Su nombre ha cambiado, pero el interior era la misma. Tuvimos una buena porción de granos de café y salchichas patatas fritas y un gran café. Visited this café many times when I moved to the area in late 2013. Very convenient for me while I was sorting out my flat. It was a great introduction to the community too, a community I'm very much a member of now. I popped in last week, the first time in a long while, for a quick sandwich and mug of coffee. The place was very busy but I managed to get a seat. Service is quick, efficient and very friendly.

Popped here for a cheap and cheerful breakfast as we had a busy day ahead. Walking through the door must have transported be back to 1985, because thats the last time I had seen a place or food that looked like this.Greasy spoon, emphasis on the grease, the cooked breakfast we both had was swimming in the grease to the point that the eggs just tasted of it. The beans were very watery and bland and the sausage and bacon were the cheapest of cheap/Nasty.Staff and service was about as enthusiastic as a soggy sock and the place was just dirty. Dried food on tables, dirty cutlery, toilets like a festival porta-pottie and next to our table there were actual weeds growing out of the wall !!!!The only reason I'm rating it poor and not terrible is that it was cheap, so didn't impact my wallet too much.Avoid at all cost.

Quite cheap good food and quick waitress service. They have cheap days for pensioners on Tuesdays and Thursday with 10% off. Ideal for weary shoppers. Breakfasts are the best.
