Bensham Tandoori in Gateshead

Pilau rice was ordered and they sent keema rice. Chicken madras was ordered and not sure what came but definitely wasn’t madras. No spice or heat to it. Very disappointed with tonight’s meal as usually it is always lovely.

food was lush. just the chips weren't Indian chips but normal ones so will order rice next time. but all in all lovely

Normally order from here for a few picky bits but tonight I was very disappointed: my chicken tikka was very chewy the 2 naan breads were extremely doughy some parts were so undercooked they were inedible. My poppodoms went straight in the bin as they were soggy not crispy what’s so ever. Hope this was a one off because a good Indian take away is hard to come by these day

food was awful lacked flavour the curries were watered down. we got a mixed kebab start and the sheek kebab was under cooked spending £50 when I could have got a microwave curry with more flavour made it even worse! safe to say i won't be ordering here again

Although the delivery was a little late, the driver had problems finding us and Christmas eve is probably very busy, so wasn't a major issue. Other than the samosas, which I wouldn't bother ordering again, every dish was delicious and plentiful. Will definitely order from here again in the future.

Made to wait 10 minutes while staff enjoyed a conversation in the back while not even acknowledging I was standing there then made to wait again while they eventually made the food I order over the phone. Then got home and realised not even got what I ordered and the food was cold and tasteless. Absolute joke of an indian

I recently ordered food from bensham tandoori and was blown away from authentic Indian flavors! They offered a wide variety of menu options and I ordered MUNCH BOX. Chicken Tikka was so tender and the mix of that Indian spice in Tikka and kebab was delicious. Must try and I Highly recommend

kebabwas freezing and tasted like cheap meat used to love this place but lately is has been poor don't know what is different but the sauce is watered down on the plus side the chicken was lovely

Got a few picky things the chicken tikka and lamb tikka was lovely very tender one slight complaint we ordered chips and onion bajis arrived in its place which were sadly wasted on us as we aren’t onion eaters apart from that lovely food

Like most Indian takeaways these days:, poppadoms either: missing, smashed to a million pieces, or soggy as a wet Wednesday (cooked a week earlier). Not for me, they are ripping off, Time Just Eat checked the quality.

Not been for a while so not sure if new chef but food wasn’t nice, we live close and when food came it was cold, it was cold enough that I could put my hand on bottom of silver container and it not burn me , kebab meat was rubbery and the curry sauce (masala) was tasteless. Such a shame as we used to love ordering from here

Only ordered a hand full of times from here for collection, but on 2 of those occasions they have failed to include a dish that was paid for. (Will always give a second/third chance) This Saturday we ordered for collection, one again a dish was missing and this time the lamb tikka was as tough as one boots. Called to complain and although I received an apology and the promise I would receive the dish free next time I order I won't order again from here. They also said lamb is always tough as cooked in a tergen, really!!! More like old meat or old muten🤢

Food always tasty and delivery time always accurate however one thing i will say is I would recommend just picking the food up and check before you leave the shop as every time we have ordered something is always missing lucky for us we only lived round the corner so no problems picking it up bit annoying but it is what it is, would have been 5/5 but due to this happening multiple times has to be a 3/5

I ordered a meal deal with a Methi, but got a Phal. There was plenty of other food though so it was OK.

We received the wrong curry. I rang the restaurant to let them know. They said they’d send out the correct curry. We then realised they’d also sent us the wrong naan bread. So I rang back and they were very rude and laughed when I said there was no garlic on the naan because according to them, it was a garlic naan. If that’s what they think a garlic naan is then they need their tastebuds checked! The curry eventually turned up and was bland and the rest of our food was cold. Meal ruined.

Food is always great, love the naans and I like the stamp system. Nice to get a discount.

Just food wasn’t as hot as nomal

The food was cold on arrival and there were two dishes missing the chicken tikka starter was missing and also the onion bijas were missing. Very disappointed

Very disappointed with the food our garlic sauce was missing from our order this is the second time this has happened when we ordered from Bensham Tandoori.

Food turned up Hot but stuff missing but the driver proceeded to tell me he had been stood at door for 10 mins bearing in mind it's freezing outside he hadn't knocked or stood there why would he stand in the cold when all he had to do is ring me like he did to tell me he was there WATS THE POINT IN LYING

My food came at 19.15 which was on time. My food was missing part of the order. I called the restaurant for them to not want to deliver them again. Asked me if could not just get them next time. It was a main part of the meal. When they arrived 4t mins later all the food was cold and soggy. Not happy. I want my money back

I ordered the 8 course special even though the quantity of food for the price was good value the food wasn’t brilliant, the madras was quite salty the poppadoms were very stale and floppy (not a good quality to have in a poppadom) the chicken tikka was bland, the best part of the meal was the chicken chaat and the naan considering it’s an 8 course meal 2 out of 8 dishes being good doesn’t really say much

Delivery took over 2 and a half hours half the food went all over the floor as bag they were in was soggy food was freezing cold chips looked like they were cooked two days ago and what we managed to get on to plates was disgusting greasy and cold and was not eating as contained meat and fish half the order wasn’t even right when we rung up and complained said they would give discount on food and as I was talking hung up then contacted food hub and was offered £10 pound back on a £40 order that we couldn’t eat even after we told them they could come and get the food they then demanded we take it back to the shop and they would give us a full refund we are in lobley hill they are in bensham we advised that could not be possible they refused to do any more I have been a customer a long time and never again will I order from this place don’t no what has happened but the place is the pits now if I could give less then one star I would disgusting food disgusting staff will be reporting to all the relevant food agencies first thing tomorrow morning place needs shut down

When I try a new place to buy my curries from, always order a Tandoori Chicken Mossala and vegetable pilau rice if they can get that right. The rest of the menu is usually good. I can report it was good, very good, would recommend.

Curry was so salty couldn't eat it nan bread was so burnt it was bitter couldn't eat it poppadoms so stale went in bin was first and last time i will be ordering from this place

Have to be honest, I got the tikka sauce did not like it at all my daughter said it was lovely. My partner agreed with me. He got vindaloo was nice but not hot what he’s used to. Chips were hard and dry. Poppadoms were nice. Garlic Nan wasn’t keen at all. Never had an Indians for months and was gutted. Won’t be back will stick to whickam tandoori though expensive you get what you pay for.

Food was barely warm, king prawns were small, chips were little and shrivelled up. Onion bhaji’s were huge but lacking flavour, sadly not the place for us to order in future.
