Benricks in Wirral

Place was packed, went on a Saturday morning. Food looked delicious. I pushed the boat out and had a coffee (Usually a tea person) It was very nice. We sat in the courtyard in the sunshine. Very pleasant. Next time I'm trying the food.

Wonderfully cooked poached eggs on potato cakes. Happy to make my tea extra strong for me (not everywhere I go is so accommodating). Can recommend but it does get busy at times so you may want to book ahead.

I've been herr many times now, and each time, it's just as amazing as the last. Went today for breakfast and had something different from my usual and wasn't disappointed, welsh rarebit was stunning! And of course, the cake selection is always a tough choice of what to pick.

Visited as a stop off for work and wanted breakfast. Service was fast and staff were pleasant. But each of the items of food I had was tasteless and bland. Bacon was overcooked and was like shards of glass when trying to chew, eggs were overcooked and the toast was like it has been soaked in grease instead of butter. Had a slice of chocolate cake also to take out and it was just a square of pure nothingness. Went in the bin. Think the chef may have forgot to add even the slightest bit of sugar into the mix. Will not return.

The best cafe on the Wirral for consistently fresh, well cooked food, great coffee and delicious homemade cakes. Excellent service from friendly staff. We love this place for both breakfasts, lunches or just a coffee in the afternoon. Vegetarian breakfast is always great. Seems we are only two of many as there is always a queue. However, you are given a menu to look at while you wait and it is usually no more than 5 minutes before you are seated… Certainly worth the wait!

We went for breakfast today , I had the Veggie and my wife had the Standard English , it was very tasty indeed , the staff are really friendly , the shop has plenty of seats outside ( dog friendly ) as we had our Border terrier with us .

The day prior to the visit I emailed the cafe as I'm in a wheelchair and needed to make sure that we could get a table with enough space. I received no reply. Why publicise an email address if you don't monitor it? I was going with 3 other family members who were keen to go anyway. We arrived at midday. There was a narrow corridor/pathway/ramp leading to the counter which was also the exit. Except if you waited at the sign telling you to wait there for someone to seat you there wasnt any room for people to get out. We had several minutes of dancing with leaving customers before we had to ask someone behind the counter what to do as it was getting ridiculous! The gentleman was very impatient and rude as he responded. We were left unsure if there was a free table or not. A lady then approached..... mask barely covering her mouth never mind her nose. She seemed a little helpless and flustered as she tried to work out if there was a table. A lovely couple of ladies of a table for four said they'd move to a table for two so we could have their table. So we finally had a table. Then we were told we had to leave by 1.30. It was now 12.15. OK.... We ordered. I asked if they could swap a sausage for a piece of bacon and a tomato for some beans on the small breakfast as I didn't want the large breakfast which came with beans and I can't eat sausages due to dietary restrictions. The waitress, the one with the slipped mask, was quite short and said she'd have to see as tge kitchen was busy. I'd accept that as a reason if there wasn't the items I was asking for being cooked for someone else on the table who had ordered the large breakfast...The drinks were served one at a time with a large wait in between. No sugar was brought and milk was brought for just one person so my husband had to go to the counter to ask for these. He was restricted to how many sugars he coukd take, he only wanted 4 sachets but they treated him as if he was going to pocket them to take away rather than use them! He never got the extra milk so we had to make do.The food was very average. One of my eggs was broken and hidden under the other one. I did at least get my substitutions though.My mum got a soggy toasty and the salad that came with her and my daughters meals was brown around the lettuce leaf edges. I know they were busy. I know we hadn't officially booked, although I had emailed to try, but I just found the experience very trying and unacceptable. We left and went somewhere else. Doesn't that say it all?A ruined gathering. We rarely get together or go out due to distances and my health. A pity it wasn't the pleasant lunch and catch up that it was meant to be.

Had vegetarian breakfast here on 6/8/21. Well cooked and very fresh food, great coffee and friendly, timely and efficient service. Reasonably priced. Really nice atmosphere and staff are talkative and helpful. Fabulous cakes. Been many times for coffee but will definitely return for another breakfast which was excellent. Sandra and Colin.

Visited yesterday lunchtime, very impressed with spacious outdoor seating area. Lunch was lovely, served very quickly, staff very helpful and friendly.

I have been to this place a lot of times. This is literally my favourite caffe in the Wirral! Food is amazing, staff is super friendly, the new outdoor area is super nice! I wouldn't recommend a better place for brunch around this area!

So glad to be back at this hidden gem of a place! The outdoor space is excellent and the welcoming, friendly staff make for a relaxed enjoyable experience! Plenty of comfortable outdoor seating in the spacious courtyard with cover and shade for all weather outcomes!

It was so good to be back - the food and service were as excellent as always. In line with all the current guidelines, things are well setup and the courtyard is a lovely outside space to eat in. The option for takeaway is also great for those people who don’t feel ready to eat out yet. My favourite is still their famous potato cakes!

Been coming benricks as long I can remember, coffee is the best around,they do various different ones at great quality, homemade cakes look stunning, so much nicer than reubens across the road, staff always so nice and helpful, nothing too much trouble, I always add stuff to my order and they dont mind, my order wrote down before I get to the till usually, breakfast really good quality, muffins with the poached eggs salmon an mushrooms is my go too wish they would open through lockdown for collection but understand their situation, cant wait to return, new decor after 1st lockdown is really nice also, not a cheap cafe but you get what you pay for, 5 ******

I love this little gem. Ideal during the current restrictions. I have met family outside and the atmosphere is great even when the weather is not top notch. Food and staff excellent.

I have recently discovered the hidden gem courtyard at Benricks! What a fabulous outdoor space! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the quality of the food and drinks are well worth the visit! I look forward to my next visit!

Unbelievable hospitality, very clean, Covid aware. Amazing food , this a lovely little what I thought a coffee shop, drove past it for years. Homemade coleslaw out of this world ( and I don’t like it!)

Went with 2 kids on a wednesday, got them 2 baby chinos which where over priced. Took too long to come, female staff was miserable and didnt look interested. When I asked for a receipt to see how much was spent I waited too long and she said in the end "it doesnt matter" so was disappointed overall

Visited this place after a hard fought morning of practice. Decided to treat my friends to this place on the way back to Liverpool as they had great reviews. Thought the prices for the breakfast for what come was terrible, breakfast didn’t include a tea or coffee. Next was toast came out 10 minutes before the actual breakfast like a Chinese with pawn crackers, sausages are definitely warm ups as the tasted like a school rubbers, the hash browns were underdone, the bacon tasted like it had be knitted together and the eggs had a feel like they were park of a kitchen set for kids from the Argos. Staff were lovely though. Wouldn’t recommend this place, subway next door do better pre cooked breakfasts.

Visited this place with my friends after a hard morning grading....I feel this cafe is a lovely place to eat HOWEVER THE food let us down big time... am already arranging my dinner because am still hungry the eggs was rock solid the hash browns were turned over twice in the pan and put straight on the plate I had toast 10 min early with jam on the side... lovely environment but poor poor breakfast.

Been her a lot over the years, food always gorgeous, staff friendly & efficient.My only complaint is the place is very cold in winter! Please put the heating on - especially in the mornings it can be very chilly! But we still go for the lovely homemade food Thanks !!

My first visit and what a joy! This busy place was very welcoming, friendly, and the flat white was perfect, the mince pie and cream delicious. Will return soon. Highly recommend.

Great café with friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and amazing food. Come here often with hubby or friends. Just had homemade potato cakes with bacon and poached eggs. It was absolutely delicious - cooked to perfection.

Popped in for lunch with my son. We both love this place - especially for the atmosphere!! The staff are always so friendly and take time to get to know their customers. We both had chicken, bacon and Brie paninis followed by fresh coffee!! Gorgeous!! We then felt we had to try a home made cake - I had a baked egg custard and my son had the coffee and walnut cake!! Both delicious!!We will definitely return!!

After a great day and night out in Liverpool, the call for cooked breakfast amongst our little crowd was loud.Not being from tbe area we did a little searching online and came across Benricks, a coffee shop & cafe located in Prenton a couple of miles from Birkenhead, located next to Sainsburys.The experience was top notch (as well as top nosh)!In summary:-• a very clean, tidy location - it displayed a 5 star hygiene rating on the door• warm welcome by attentive staff• prompt service, with hot drinks (the coffees were very good) quickly delivered• wide menu choice• food delivered promptlyAnd here's where Benricks wins hands down - with bacon and sausages that were delicious; fresh & very tasty tomatoes; delicious eggs. All, I strongly suspect from the taste, locally sourced from nearby farms given how flavoursome it was.All at very reasonable prices.One of the best breakfasts I've ever enjoyed!Thank you.

Friendly service, speedy delivery and lovely food. We had breakfast on 2 mornings ,each of us had different but equally pleasing food. I loved the potato cakes and want to know how they were made as they were he best I have tasted.

Popped in for a coffee whilst the car was getting cleaned. Not only do they do decaf coffee but it was really good decaf coffee. Partner got a slice of the Banoffe pie and it was amazing! Staff are lovely and the atmosphere is great!

Staff are great! So welcoming. Perfect location. Great food! The selection of homemade cakes are amazing! I usuallly get the veggie breakfast and it’s always perfect!

Granddaughter asked me to take her here, as she likes it so much! After being here, I understood why! Although it was very busy due to being lunchtime, the staff still had time to explain the menu etc.

We had brunch breakfast and it was amazing ... best sausage in years! Husband had banana and walnut cake fabulous. All homemade and delicious. Staff are lovely and friendly and helpful. We will be back soon.

Benricks is near Kwik Fit, which is where my car was in for service. I popped in here to kill the time for a bit of lunch with my girlfriend. A hello when we entered, got ourselves a seat. Ordered a hot chocolate each, generous serving. I ordered a cheddar cheeseburger, my girlfriend ordered salmon English Muffins (I think?). Best cheeseburger I've ever had in my life, literally. It was gorgeous. I haven't stopped talking about it. I've been told to shut up twice and it's only been 24 hours. Will be back very soon! We also had dessert which was lovely. I ordered chocolate cake, my girlfriend had Egg Custard, all fresh and beautiful. Staff were very firendly and talkative, even though they were clearly very busy. Can't wait to come back, definitely found my new favourite spot.

I visited this wonderful cafe on the way to my dentists. The coffee was out of this world so lovely to the taste buds. I had cheese on toast and that was lovely too. I could highly recommend it to anyone the staff were helpful and polite.

Only called here a couple of times but must say the service was excellent and friendly. Clean, comfortable and nice decor. Basic breakfast is good although would have preferred a softer egg. ( One could request this of course) Nice chap running the place and he is very helpful.

Veggie breakfast was great and lots of it. Service always good. Flat white was strong and smooth. I had two and was fidgeting for the next two hours!

Went for lunch, staff very helpful, food was very good and plenty of it staff gave you plenty of time to choose what you wanted and they also let you change from salad to chips and visa versa.

Looking for a lite bite we tried Bendricks on Sunday 9th September 18. We ordered the eggs & dauphinois potatoes with black pudding and a tuna mayo salad & chips. The service was attentive & friendly and most tables full. The portions are a good size and the quality of food was superb. The only thing I was disappointed in, was not choosing the lasagne.......it looked so tasty, I was so full but reckon I could have squeezed it in. Definitely my next choice because we will absolutely go back. Lovely little lunch time pop in

When I get the time it really is a pleasure to pop into Benrick’s for a breakfast or even just a coffee.

Really nice area outside where we enjoyed our coffees, we took a dog and was welcome and they offered treats which was a nice touch. Friendly staff inside too

The breakfast here was lovely and unsurprisingly cost twice as much as some of the local greasy spoons.

Popped in whilst my car was being serviced. Great friendly staff, brilliant coffee and the shortbread was perfect. Definitely will be back to try some of the food.

This is a lovely café/coffee shop in Prenton. We had reserved a table as we were going for an early lunch although it was probably unnecessary midweek. The menu is very varied with all day breakfasts, waffles, omelettes, sandwiches, cakes etc to choose from. You order at the counter and then the food is made to order and brought to your table. The drinks arrived very quickly and the food was also brought promptly. It was hot and very tasty. The staff were all pleasant and polite. The tables were cleared and wiped down regularly and the other facilities were also clean. I will definitely be returning in the future.

I have visited this cafe many times and the food is delicious HOWEVER I was in the cafe on Saturday 9th June during the afternoon . Two males were taking the orders and serving at tables. A table had been sprayed and wiped by the taller male , shortly after,the smaller of the two proceeded to dry the table with a blue tea towel , then used the same towel to dry cutlery he then handled the forks by the prongs to place them in the storage unit ,eventually he dried his own face with the blue tea towel, it was then placed on the counter whilst someone paid a bill , then thrown on top of coffee machine on top of clean cups , there were at least five other towels on top of the cups , the towels were pushed aside to reach the cups, I presumed these towels would now longer be used, but the blue one was out again to carry a plate of food then the counter was wiped with it . I think you need to do some covert observation

Just popped in as we live nearby, and gutted that we didn't come sooner. All of the food was fantastic, good value considering the quality and quantity of the food, and the staff were delightful and friendly. Can't wait to come back.

Very friendly place to have coffee, excellent meals with lots of variety, and the cakes are very hard to resist. Everything cooked on the premises. Good place to meet up with friends, or just pop in, usually someone in who you know. Lovely elated atmosphere.

If you are shopping in or around Prenton you must call in this coffee shop and chill out for 10min having a coffee in this bright little cafe in the company of some very charming staff. A family run cafe which is fronted by max a great happy chappy who always seems polite and helpful. Very clean and Food/ coffee great and reasonably priced. Just a nice place really..

We come here a lot and always receive a warm welcome from the staff. The food and drinks are always great and served within a reasonable waiting time.

Have been to this cafe a number of times and the food is good and fairly plentiful. It is not particularly expensive but perhaps on the higher side of some other cafes but the food seems freshly prepared and dekicious.

My family and I have been visiting this coffee shop for few years, my little girl loves her visits to 'Max's cafe' as we call it.

Took my granddaughter there for brunch. Staff were amazing and the food was excellent with a great choice of tempting dishes. Really enjoyed our brunch would definitely go there again. Give it a try you won't be disappointed

Enjoyed my bumper breakfast today! The only 2 things I am going to say is, 1. The toast came out too early before my breakfast and by the time the breakfast came it was cold! 2. Instead of banging the coffee arm on the drawer 10 times, I'd just use a teaspoon to get the ground coffee beans out! The cafe was quite peaceful, low music and then the banging of that was really quite awful! Especially if you're nursing a hangover! Other than that the cafe was nicely decorated, clean and friendly staff! Will return in the future :)

Been going a few years and can rely on Benricks consistently for fantastic food, great Cappuccino, delicious Coronation Chicken baked potato, lovely clean modern colourful cafe interior, comfortable seating, massive supermarket parking next door, always a pleasure to see you staff, always a very pleasing experience.

"caffè macchiato" es el mejor y el más cercano alrededor que he tenido en este país a auténtico capuccino solía haber en Italia. . Con la única excepción de Bar Italia en Soho, Londres! (yo vivía en Roma y en otro lugar por cuatro años en la década de 1960. )

My partner and I have been coming here for the last couple of years and we're always satisfied. The food is good value for money and the staff always friendly and polite. We started coming here as it was close to where we lived and we have since moved but plan to make the extra drive to keep coming back. One of our favourite places on the Wirral.

Stumbled across this cafe that we've not seen before.Would definitely go there again.The food was delicious. Friendly staff who have an excellent relationship with their customers. Child friendly with toys at the back of the cafe. Cleanliness is impeccable.We're glad we have found this cafe and will definitely be returning.

It was a beautiful day and I needed a cold drink, Max made me a delicious vanilla ice cream milk shake with cream and marshmallows, delicious would have loved another one bit did not want to appear greedy

Visited for coffee and cake one afternoon. As usual, we were greeted by the young owner who is very sociable, enjoyed the coffee and delicious cake and will go back for more in the near future.

I had the halloumi and pesto toastie which was delicious. The service was outstanding with engaging young staff that made you feel so welcome in a family business. Loved the courtyard at the back sat in the sun.

Came here for a nice latte and and breakfast. Really nice, clean, chilled place with a courtyard, outside rear area which was a little sun trap. The staff were so friendly and service very good. Good selection on the menu. Look forward to returning again :)

Just back from holidays and visited this morning for breakfast/brunch,.What a lovely surprise...... The outdoor area is now completed and lookingswell. Now Benricks is ready to deal with all weathers. I highly recommendthis location for a sunny morning with table service as usual. Needless tosay we had a lovely meal - potato cakes with bacon and superbly poachedeggs - with a little brown sauce!!! - hit the spot. Congratulations to thefamily A Team.

This is a lovely cafe But the young males serving behind the counter are still referring to women twice their age as 'love' and 'darling' and I found this very disrespectful and demeaning.Maybe it is an age thing but it is definitely causing me and my coffee loving friends to seek alternative venues for our get togethers. It is offensive and not how we wish to be addressed. Simple as that.

Came here while I waited for my dreaded MOT! Was obviously very popular, not many tables left, but was seated quickly, table cleaned and food & drinks ordered quickly. Lovely food, didn't wait too long considering how busy it was. Friendly staff, overall lovely place to have a light lunch and a coffee. Would recommend and definitely would go back

We had an hour to fill so dropped in for a coffee, tea and tea cake. Lovely atmosphere with staff greeting and engaging with regulars. Service a bit slow but we didn't mind in such nice surroundings.

Love this place, just wish they could improve on their service, regardless of who is working the service is so slow, everything is served one at a time, wish they could use a tray, it is painful to watch especially when they are busy,

Has to be the nicest eating place on that stretch of Woodchurch road , the service is very friendly and helpful without that forced faux smile .the food is really nice fresh and tasty with a good menu selection .

I have been to this café in the past and always found it very nice but on a recent visit I was very let down. While the service was polite I waited 25 minutes for a coffee and I wasn't the only one waiting a very long time for their orders. There were a number of staff working but they seemed to be like headless chickens and didn't seem to get anything done at any speed. I was going to order food but after seeing how long everyone was waiting I changed my mind.

Laid back atmosphere with other customers ranging from OAPs, children and disabled, so lovely to see somewhere that caters for all. From the absolutely delicious Pea and Mint soup (would you like a swirl of cream in it? I was asked) and the option of having a half sandwich to go with it. The menu is absolutely lovely - my partner had a burger and chips and said it was lovely (and he's never easily pleased). I had a scone, jam and cream and the scone was clearly homemade and delicious washed down with a lovely big pot of tea. We will be back - thank you to Max and his team today

Popped in for Sunday breakfast and was really impressed. The décor is pleasant and staff are friendly. I had the bumper breakfast and it was delicious, good coffee as well. Overall a fantastic little café.

Always very friendly service and the food and drink on offer are always very good. I especially reccomend the Honeycomb Latte.

Visited for lunch week of Christmas, was busy but found a table. Staff were very attentive and freindly ordered sandwiches, sides and drinks which arrived promptly, fresh and delicious. Very enjoyable and reasonably priced with goods choices on the menu and specials, will definitely return.

My husband and I visited Benricks for the first time today. Husband had a cooked breakfast which was quite good apart from the sausages and hash browns which were a bit limp. I had the homemade burger which was nice and juicy and came with a massive portion of slightly overbrowned chips. Was spoilt slightly by ketchup which was the vinegary cheap-tasting type rather than Heinz or even Aldi own brand! Maybe I'm being unfairly harsh as I had high hopes for Benricks based on all the good reviews but it was ok rather than great. Having said that I would go back for coffee and cake as the staff were super-friendly and the decor and ambience are good.

Good coffee and food, cakes all home made & a good mixture of standard ones (e.g. chocolate brownies) and slightly different ones (e.g. queen of puddings). Breakfasts good as well. Friendly family- run place, clean and relaxed.

We popped in for a couple of breakfasts. Nice big breakfast, includes toast, we enjoyed it and would go again. Just a couple of points, the tables are tiny, there was not enough room for our drinks and breakfasts... the drinks, as usual in coffee shops are a little expensive... one of the toasts arrived 5 minutes before the breakfast, the other toast arrived after the breakfast. A small improvement on the timings is needed. But, very nice, pleasant friendly staff, clean nice cafe.

I came here for a quick sandwich and drink,the place is very clean and the decor very inviting,both members of staff were very polite and the service was quick,I chose the fresh salmon with lemon dressing sandwich which was tasty but there was so little salmon in it,it should have said lemon dressing with a hint of salmon on the menu,and was no way worth the £5.80 I paid,which is the only thing that let this sweet little coffee shop down

Staff always friendly and attentive .From a quick coffee to a full meal the quality is high and if you are unhappy with anything it's quickly remedied. Food delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

It is always nice to pop in here for a coffee. Lovely and clean. Staff always pleasant, cheerful and friendly. Wish it was open at 8.00 am. Instead of nine. Time at 9.00 does not give me much time to drink coffee and catch my bus. Never mind. Can't have everything

Visited Benricks twice now and can not fault it. The menu has everything you'd need and more for lunch. I went for the chicken panini, that was delicious. I'd have to say the main attraction to the cafe was the friendly service. The waiter was really welcoming and you could tell he was really passionate about the job. Definitely recommend.

My little girl and my family love our visits to Benricks and it is always a pleasure to visit especially when Max or his brother are working.Food always good, cakes lovely.Only one little thing (and it is little!) can you please give the kids toys a wipe/wash over as bit grubby - but otherwise wonderful !!

Popped in for the All Day Breakfast. Very nicely cooked, prompt service. Similar price to other pkaces for breakfast. Coffee and Mocha very good. We will be going back.

I have always had a soft spot for benricks. .as a child going with my friend and feeling so posh having a coke on our own without out parents being with us!! Now I take my children or on the odd occasion just me for a quiet break..for me its coffee and cake, and i always go for the cafetiere as one cup is never enough! A friendly family run gem that we visit most weeks, highly recommended

Thought I would give coffee shop another go this week. It is obviously a popular place as it is always busy. The staff are friendly and pleasant. However I ordered coffee and potato cakes. I don't know for sure but I think the potato cakes are heated in the microwave and they did not taste nice at all. You could smell and taste the grease. I don't think I would visit again. I don't know if the music is played for the benefit of the staff but I find it far too loud for my taste. A nice quiet relaxing cup of coffee would be ideal. Not loud music . Sorry

Benricks is a rare cafe because it excels in every department. It's a family business, I believe, and they are obviously gifted in the area of serving people with the sort of food and service that you'd expect for 10/10.So many cafes and restaurants in this country are just in it for the money and churn out average food and service. I could not recommend Benricks more, and the Sainsbury's parking next door is 3 hours. Bon appetite!
