Bengal Spice in Cherwell

We happened to stumble across this place on a Sunday evening whilst driving to our B&B and So glad we did. Gave us a beautiful table the service was 5* absolutely no complaints, they recommended a few dishes after asking us what our usual taste is and got both meals spot on, the food was INCREDIBLE. This had to be one of the nicest Indian meals we have had & the best experience if your passing please call in you wont be disappointed !

We collected our order. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was really tasty and well spiced. I had the prawn speciality which was absolutely delicious (pretty hot though, so beware!) The onion bahjis are massive and very good. Sadly, we don't live close by, otherwise we'd be back regularly.

Very nice I would 100% recommend this place is soo nice. Visiting for the third time from Ireland. Love the tikka masala. Lamb Rogan is good too!

what can i say? Found this restaurant en-route to a weekend golf trip. And what a beauty of a find. everything from service to food was absolutely outstanding. food was fresh, well cooked and delicious. a special thank you to Nass (Hope my spelling is correct) for helping us out. 11/10 if anyone were to find them selves anywhere near this place? go, you certainly wont regret it.

Absolutely fantastic place! I would 100% recommend if your looking for Indian restaurant in the Oxfordshire / Cotswold area. I'm only 21 and I've lived in the nearby village all my life and have always used this place and have never been disappointed! The owner and the staff are always so welcoming and caring. The food is also absolutely mind- blowing incredible Indian food !

Visiting family and this is their local Bengal curry house. The service was warm and playful. Food was excellent.

Really delicious Indian cuisine with some unique dishes. Friendly staff. By far one of the best Indian meals we have had in a long, long time.

Yet another scrumptious meal this evening at Bengal Spice. Delicious freshly cooked poppadoms and Peshwari Naan. Always a cheerful and warm welcome from Naz and Maheer.

Fantastic night out with friends. Fabulous food and attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Vegetarians and prawn lovers were more than catered for in the extensive menu. Highly recommend for a night out or night in as their takeaway is fabulous too.

Best Lamb curry ever. I have eaten “Indian” meals sine 1964 in London and Birmingham. Used this restaurant under its previous ownerhip but this experience was extraordinary. My dining companions .enjoyed their meals and commented favourably on the helpful service and advice.. One was a satisfied vegetarian.Good value for money. Will certainly return.

Owner claimed he didn't get my Just Eat order, made me pay again at collection saying I'd get a refund from just eat. When I questioned just eat they say he claimed I never collected. Just Eat refused to do anything to help and this guy wouldn't reply to emailed and put the phone down when I called. Don't trust them when you pay.

We found the food here excellent with great friendly service from the owner and his son. My husband had lamb madras and the meat was delicious and so tender, I thoroughly enjoyed my vegetable biryani. We will definitely return when next in the area.

I gave this place a review a year ago but having just been back, I feel compelled to review it again because I think it might actually have got even better! Unbelievably great food, and a warm welcome to boot. We both enjoyed our meal so much, it definitely takes the title of best Indian restaurant in Oxfordshire, for us. So, so good.

Earl evening dinner. Sat at table 11 with window searing . Staff were very polite abd helpful. The house wines are excellent. We had popadoms with pickles , samosas and the keema and Chops with nann. Flavours great, service prompt and seamless Will return , highly recommended. Captain Neil

A nice restaurant but seats far too close to each other. We sat so close to other diners I could hear there conversations. Food was delicious but service very slow. I know it was a Saturday night, but still serve and pay attention to your customers. We waited ages for dinner and drinks, and even the bill .! Expensive, I don’t even pay that much in London, and we didn’t order anything extreme!!

We just had a lovely meal here. Fantastic food and service. Would strongly recommend the Biryani and anything with the melt-in-the-mouth lamb. Many thanks to Naz an the team for looking after us so well. We'll definitely be back when next in the area.

Here we have a problem or two. Firstly, the service. Too few waiting staff for a Saturday, when many were ordering takeaway food, meant long delays. After ordering drinks and poppadoms to start, drinks were delivered promptly then we waited just over half an hour before I had to tell the waiter than no food had arrived and we hadn't yet seen a menu. Secondly, the food quality. Poppadoms were not all crisp, chutneys were OK, butter chicken was OK but a bit tough, pilau rice was fine but was forgotten and didn't arrive with the rest of the food, but worst was the lamb dish. This was inedible as the meat was so tough. The manager was very polite and apologetic and removed this item from the bill. Looking at the very positive reviews, maybe we were unlucky. Definitely the worst Indian restaurant experience I have had though.

We spotted this place while driving through Deddington. And what a find it was. From the greeting at the door to leaving more than satisfied. This place has a chefs recommendation menu which is decent. The manager recommend the Chicken Rezella and it’s a real good choice and the flavor was unique and very moorish. If you are in the area call in and give it a whirl you want regret it I’ve been to a fair few curry houses over the years as I live near rusholme and this place was just as good if not better for flavor

I have been a customer at Bengal Spice going on three years, it did close recently and there were a few initial issues when it reopened, But I am very happy to say that it is once again back to it's best. Naz one of the previous team is now running the kitchen, the food is freshly cooked and tastes great, I notice a few people have commented that service is slow, that is a positive in my book as it means everything is being cooked fresh, I am happy to give Naz and his new team 5 stars, great food, freshly cooked, and a friendly team of staff.

The best Chicken Shashlik i have ever eaten. This Indian restaurant is just beyond amazing. We all ate different things and everyone was raving about how good the food was. Truly outstanding! We eat at this restaurant often and have never had a bad dish....

Was staying locally and fancied something spicy. Read the reviews, DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING WRITTEN. Was made very welcome. Service was top notch. Food was wonderful. Would recommend.

Diabolical - very poor service. Take out's took priority over diners eating in. After prompting the waiter to take our order we were kept waiting an hour for food, after asking how much longer would we have to wait, meal arrived five minutes later, in-between a constant stream of take out's. I asked the waiter if take out's took priority over diners and he said, yes! Food was vile and not served as described on menu. Ingredients were missing from main dish and naan bread. I explained the problem to a waiter, but suddenly there seemed to be a language barrier. No apology was offered for the extensive delay or lack of ingredients. A waste of money. We even had to mix our own drinks at the table. We ordered two lager shandies and were presented with one large bottle of lager and two full glasses of lemonade!

Terrible service, unattentive staff who were more interested in takeaway deliveries than sitting in paying customers. We waited over an hour for our main course and when arrived, it was not as described. When queried the menu we were fobbed off with lack of understanding...

Had a very simple meal for one as a take out. The curry was fresh and the meat was tender, and the nan bread was light and fluffy. Only downside was they don't do a range of chutneys to go with the poppadoms.
