Bengal Spice in Cherwell

Wonderful Indian restaurant. The food was really tasty, everything with its own individual flavour. Naans fluffy. Typical main course around £11-12 but a fecent portion size. Was £115 for our table woth popadams, mains and drinks). The staff were superb, welcomed with a smile and at no point were we rushed. They could see we were chatting and having a relaxed evening and titratined the service to that without us needing to say everything. We were there for hrs and had a lovely time on a Friday night. After Eight mints to end (what more could you ask for!). A shame we were all driving and couldn't accept the complimentary shot. We will be returning for sure.

Staying in Deddington for work and asked the locals in the Unicorn if the curry house was any good and everyone said it was great and it was. The food is superb. Will be coming back!

A wonderful dining experience with helpful staff and amazing food. We had the Chefs special and were treated to dishes we had not tasted before. Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Deddington, a great start to our holiday.

We visited Bengal Spice in Deddington with friends in July 2024. The staff were pleasant and friendly, as well as being attentive at the table and the food was delicious spicy (& heat / hot as well as taste hot). The meal was delicious and ample portion size. We would recommend and hope to return back when visiting friends in the area again.

We had a lovely meal and would recommend Bengal Spice. All the traditional offerings with some interesting fresh options. Our waiter made a nice recommendation for our shared starters,king prawn piru & it was excellent. We over ordered but regret nothing. Enjoy.

We had dinner in Bengal Spice, in Deddington. The delicious food and incredible flavours and the friendly staff made us feel like we were in India. A must stop if you are in the Cotswolds!

Ordered food for takeout and was asked if I would like a beer because I had to wait.. then was charged £5.80 for a half of kingfisher! I queried this and was told that the beer was not complementary and that I’d ordered from the old menu and the prices had changed!! The prices on the takeaway menu and on the website have still not been changed. In the end the beer was £3.50 The food was ok.

My friend and I decided to try the Bengal Spice in Deddington for a meal, on arrival we were greeted by polite and cheerful staff. After viewing the menu we opted for the Bengal Chef special, where you choose the heat of the meal and they cook meals of their choice and what a great choice it proved to be, the starter was a new creation Naz. It contained chicken, peppers, pineapple and olives, what a triumph of flavours this was followed by a fantastic chicken course and an equally delicious lamb meal course and excellent sides to match. I would to say thank you to Naz and all the staff at Bengal spice for the best meal I have had.

The food was fantastic. Had many a curry in the uk and this was one of the tastiest. Staff super friendly and very attentive. Went on a Tuesday evening and didn’t need to book but I’m sure Thursday to Saturday they’ll be busy.

Top quality tasty food. We walked in to order a takeaway and had a short pleasant wait with a G&T. The restaurant wasn't busy for a Friday evening but it was early. Nice comfortable looking interior. The food was the best Indian meal I've had in a very long time. Absolutely delicious. I will definitely recommend. I would like to eat there next time.

I ordered a Bhuna. Which is supposed to be a thick onion based sauce I placed it on my plate and it leaked all over my kitchen table.. the whole dish was just full off crushed tomatoes. You are charged the same price with the takeaway when eating in without the service. The Menu looks brochure looks cheap and tacky. The founder must be turning in his grave. Bless him

We happened to stumble across this place on a Sunday evening whilst driving to our B&B and So glad we did. Gave us a beautiful table the service was 5* absolutely no complaints, they recommended a few dishes after asking us what our usual taste is and got both meals spot on, the food was INCREDIBLE. This had to be one of the nicest Indian meals we have had & the best experience if your passing please call in you wont be disappointed !

We collected our order. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was really tasty and well spiced. I had the prawn speciality which was absolutely delicious (pretty hot though, so beware!) The onion bahjis are massive and very good. Sadly, we don't live close by, otherwise we'd be back regularly.

what can i say? Found this restaurant en-route to a weekend golf trip. And what a beauty of a find. everything from service to food was absolutely outstanding. food was fresh, well cooked and delicious. a special thank you to Nass (Hope my spelling is correct) for helping us out. 11/10 if anyone were to find them selves anywhere near this place? go, you certainly wont regret it.

Absolutely fantastic place! I would 100% recommend if your looking for Indian restaurant in the Oxfordshire / Cotswold area. I'm only 21 and I've lived in the nearby village all my life and have always used this place and have never been disappointed! The owner and the staff are always so welcoming and caring. The food is also absolutely mind- blowing incredible Indian food !

Fantastic night out with friends. Fabulous food and attentive staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Vegetarians and prawn lovers were more than catered for in the extensive menu. Highly recommend for a night out or night in as their takeaway is fabulous too.

Best Lamb curry ever. I have eaten “Indian” meals sine 1964 in London and Birmingham. Used this restaurant under its previous ownerhip but this experience was extraordinary. My dining companions .enjoyed their meals and commented favourably on the helpful service and advice.. One was a satisfied vegetarian.Good value for money. Will certainly return.

Owner claimed he didn't get my Just Eat order, made me pay again at collection saying I'd get a refund from just eat. When I questioned just eat they say he claimed I never collected. Just Eat refused to do anything to help and this guy wouldn't reply to emailed and put the phone down when I called. Don't trust them when you pay.

We found the food here excellent with great friendly service from the owner and his son. My husband had lamb madras and the meat was delicious and so tender, I thoroughly enjoyed my vegetable biryani. We will definitely return when next in the area.

Earl evening dinner. Sat at table 11 with window searing . Staff were very polite abd helpful. The house wines are excellent. We had popadoms with pickles , samosas and the keema and Chops with nann. Flavours great, service prompt and seamless Will return , highly recommended. Captain Neil

A nice restaurant but seats far too close to each other. We sat so close to other diners I could hear there conversations. Food was delicious but service very slow. I know it was a Saturday night, but still serve and pay attention to your customers. We waited ages for dinner and drinks, and even the bill .! Expensive, I don’t even pay that much in London, and we didn’t order anything extreme!!

Here we have a problem or two. Firstly, the service. Too few waiting staff for a Saturday, when many were ordering takeaway food, meant long delays. After ordering drinks and poppadoms to start, drinks were delivered promptly then we waited just over half an hour before I had to tell the waiter than no food had arrived and we hadn't yet seen a menu. Secondly, the food quality. Poppadoms were not all crisp, chutneys were OK, butter chicken was OK but a bit tough, pilau rice was fine but was forgotten and didn't arrive with the rest of the food, but worst was the lamb dish. This was inedible as the meat was so tough. The manager was very polite and apologetic and removed this item from the bill. Looking at the very positive reviews, maybe we were unlucky. Definitely the worst Indian restaurant experience I have had though.

We spotted this place while driving through Deddington. And what a find it was. From the greeting at the door to leaving more than satisfied. This place has a chefs recommendation menu which is decent. The manager recommend the Chicken Rezella and it’s a real good choice and the flavor was unique and very moorish. If you are in the area call in and give it a whirl you want regret it I’ve been to a fair few curry houses over the years as I live near rusholme and this place was just as good if not better for flavor

I have been a customer at Bengal Spice going on three years, it did close recently and there were a few initial issues when it reopened, But I am very happy to say that it is once again back to it's best. Naz one of the previous team is now running the kitchen, the food is freshly cooked and tastes great, I notice a few people have commented that service is slow, that is a positive in my book as it means everything is being cooked fresh, I am happy to give Naz and his new team 5 stars, great food, freshly cooked, and a friendly team of staff.
