Bengal Spice in Mendip

Ordered a takeaway, special rice bland and tasteless,vegetable korma tasteless watery and bland,aloo gobi tastless and bland,chips thin fries soggy and horrible.only thing was palatable was the naan bread. Most of the .eal ended up in the bin ,total waste of money.

This is usually a great place,i allways order a Dhanzak but this time was not up to scratch with no lentils,just didn't seem right.

First time in 8 years here I’ve used Bengal Spice..delivered piping hot..great portions..just really nice food Highly recommend

Actually this review is for Rice and Spice, the takeaway branch of Bengal Spice in Uckfield. The website is really easy to negotiate and the menu is extensive. The food (Chicken Madras, biryani, etc) is very good - tasty, spicy and generous of portion, really authentic in all its flavours. This is the third time I have eaten from Rice and Spice and I have not once been disappointed. Highly recommended. Roger

Fantastic portion sizes. They actually fill the tubs up! Food was gorgeous. Everything was fresh and hot. Really enjoyed the dansak and the Bombay potatoes were stunning!!

We decided to give our regular Indian takeaway a miss this week and choose the Bengal Spice instead. What a mistake. Ordering and delivery were fine but when we tasted the Tikka Jeera, Tikka Goan and Tikka Dupiaza, they all tasted exactly the same, as if one can of sauce had been tipped over each dish. The only difference was one had onions and another tomato. The curry was flavourless and bland and even the Vegetable Bhaji didn't have much taste. All in all it was probably the worst curry we have had in Uckfield over many years, so we won't be going back. It's back to our regular takeaway next week at the northern end of the town where we have never had a bad meal.

Great food and great prices. Takeaway delivered quickly and nice and warm on arrival. Have ordered several times and never disappointed.

After ordering for the first time today, I had the best Indian that I have had for many years. It was absolutely fantastic. The customer service was excellent and was fast delivery. Highly Recommend!!!
