Bengal Spice in Fenland

What a great find. We both love Indian food, took away a menu to study and went in to eat tonight. Food was delish, plenty of it, and quickly served. Staff were extremely friendly, and the ambiance was very chilled. Will certainly be back. Highly recommend.

Food is exquisite, don't be put off by location. The award it won for best in Cambs last week is well deserved.

I know that mostly I am quite happy with the places I go. But the Bengal Spice meal I have just had was exceptional. It must have been one of the best Indian meals I have had. The location is slightly off putting and I wasn’t sure, but checking other reviews made me feel better. The staff were nice and the chef apparently won a award last week for being the best in Cambridgeshire. Anyway my wife and myself agree this was really the best we have had. Actually since we are up this way for a few days we are actually going back again.

By far the best Indian in Wisbech. We usually go to another restaurant but found this one on the off chance for a date night. We literally could not fault it. The food and service were fantastic, much better than our usual place. We will definitely be going back again.

The new owners have been there since the end of 2021 & what a difference they have made. All the food is very fresh, full of flavour & the chef/owner always remembers we like a boiled egg in our curry!

Ok now I know this restaurant has had some bad rep in the past, but now under new management so past be past etc. All I can say is wow, service is above and beyond, almost like being in a five star hotel. The food was excellent and I'll defo come back again. Hear this tiger roar, you owe it to yourself to try.

Had a lovely evening here with my better half. Meal was absolutely delicious. The service was very attentive and welcoming. We'll definitely be revisiting. Special mention to Shaz who was a pleasure to meet.

Visited this restaurant with friends on good Friday, service was excellent, friendly staff and the food was superb. Will definitely be back. This restaurant is under new management so please give them a try. Our meal was delicious and one of the best we’ve had. Diane and John

This place had a bad reputation for years but my son said it had new owners so we thought we would give it a try. Well what an excellent experience we had. The staff were friendly and the food fantastic. WE WILL BE GOING BACK AGAIN. Forget it’s past and give it a try.

Ordered take away. Delivered food with items missing and refused to bring missing items. Said they will give a discount on our next order! Not good enough! There won’t be a next time!

Really great. I asked for something that was not on the menu and it was no problem for them. The food was lovely, we will be back !

Forgot the poppadoms, hardly any chicken in the korma and Peri Peri King prawns was tikka masala sauce not spicy at all

First time the restaurant was recommended. Gentleman who answered the phone was very polite. Food arrived in under 60 minutes. Unfortunately it was all down hill from there two containers had leaked in transit so half portions. First taste I was glad it was half portions. The main dishes were dreadful. Rice was ok Nan was ok popadoms we’re ok. Bombay terrible. It looked and had the consistency of left overs. I can’t recommend this take away at all the two points are for politeness and speed of delivery. . Wish I had taken a photo to share.

Accurate, on time and very tasty quality food.

2 hour wait for food. Rang 3 times, absolutely no help. When the food arrived it was cold and the Korma looked like dog food. Didn't taste much better.

Lovely food (very little was wasted) & value for money. Turned up earlier than expected & delivered with a smile. Will be back soon

I ordered two extra popadoms however you never sent the standard popadoms and pickles with the order, why not?

Haven't been here for years, thought we'd give it a try now it's under new management. We were well rewarded. The food was hot, fresh & delicious. The husband & wife team were pleasant & the waiting staff spot on.We will be going again & ordering takeaway. We wish them every success which their food deserves.

Wow this place has changed so much! Thank god its under new ownership, because I love a good Curry and this has to be the best I've had by a mile... Staff are amazing quick and polite make you feel really special, a must try...

Been using this restaurant for years and had come to expect it to be hit and miss but today’s delivery was inedible. The rice was burned and stuck together in a hard crunchy lump, the starters had such a think layer of oil you couldn’t even get to the actual food and the poppadoms were so stale you could fold them in half without breaking. That’s the last time I bother with this place. Avoid if you actually want to eat the meal you pay for.

Food was great, came early, tasted lovely but the delivery driver was blunt and left our gate open and we have a dog.

Ordered at around 7pm and it arrived at around 21:30 I contacted the restaurant twice and they told me it was 10 minutes away which meant another 30 minutes. Food was barely edible and not even worth the wait 0/10 will not be ordering from here again.

We’ve never had food that was oozing cooking grease before. The chips were actually wet and stodgy with grease and went straight in the bin as they were inedible. Not impressed at all!

I rang the restaurant they said it was on its way and then they rang me back asking for me to wait outside in the rain as the driver couldn’t read the house name which is written above the door. Which I did for another 15-20 mins. So I ring up again to the restaurant it’s on its way. When it finally got here it’s cold. Will never use this restaurant again!!

Food was cold after arriving 30 minutes late. Took nearly an hour and three quarters from first order to arriving. Have had ok meals from here before, so maybe a one off. Will think twice before ordering again.

Food was an hour late, cold and nobody at the restaurant was answering the phone, or keeping me updated on progress. They apparently couldn’t find my house, despite very clear instructions as to where my house was.

Food was an hour late. When delivered I was asked to check the receipt to see if this was mine. The receipt was correct however when I opened the box was someone else’s order!

No delivery called us to come and pick it up never again if missus had had a glass of wine wouldn't even be able to get useless

Terrible service. Food was over an hour late, and when I phoned up to complain was told by the manager that he was too bit to talk to me, and that they shouldn’t even be delivering to my area. Very upset, and won’t be ordering from here again.

Beautiful food however, it was unfortunately delivered very late. I booked for 5.40 delivery at 2pm as we have young children - I wanted to get the earliest possible time. It was later changed to 6.20 which was pushing it. It didn’t arrive until 7pm. Completely unacceptable. I had to make the children alternative food before it arrived. When I phoned to politely enquire, I was met with someone who was rude and abrupt. I don’t think we will be able to order from here again which I a shame because the food is nice.

Zero stars if I could. Delivered over an hour and a half late, marked as delivered 20 minutes after the food was cooked without conforming that it actually had been delivered. Called the restaurant and was met with a completely unapologetic response, claiming it was a couple of minutes away, they did eventually offer to contact the driver after I voiced my displeasure at the course of events. Half an hour later it was eventually delivered. The food was well on it's way to cold with the exception of the salad that was warm. Provided with only 1 of the 3 paratha ordered and the Tikka Massala was, I hope, not made correctly, passata with salt and coconut. Very unpleasant. I've not previously had problems with this vendor, but this experience is so poor I won't be placing any future orders with them.

Good food but always late! Delivery takes at least an hour and a half - often 2 hours on a Friday/Saturday night, and I only live 5-10 minutes from the restaurant!

Although the order was 3 minutes early WoW ! it meant we had still waited over an hour . It arrived in an un-heated cardboard box which was obviously too big as something moved and had leaked everywhere . The tika-masala meal was nice but didn't need the veg , & the chicken curry was so bland hubby said it was inedible so on the whole very disappointing .

Best Indian and overall service in Wisbech.

OK going to try and make this short and sweet this is best idian resterunt I have ever ate at and I have eaten at my fair share here in Wisbech and in my previous home in Milton Keynes. This place destroys all of them for taste and quality. Those who writing bad review either you were just I unlucky or have taste buds that are blad boring this place is amazing and if you truly love Indian food you will thoroughly enjoy it here. We have order more than 6x and even though we live in difficult area of Morrow to find are food is rarely late and always hot. Honestly guys I can't praise you enough keep up the good work your really on way to big things me and partner have both said how gutted we will be when we move as we be out of your catchment but if your a proper resterunts we would happily travel to when covid is over

They rang and said it would be 1 1/2 delivery which turned out to be 2 hours and delivered the wrong order. Then had to wait another 1hour for correct delivery

Took over 3 and a half hrs from ordering - Was marked as delivered over an hour and a half before we actually received it. Rung up, yes yes on its way. Then rang again and said no we haven't actually sent the first time but we have now. Previously no problems but tonight has been absolutely awful. Really, really poor service and ruined our planned valentine's meal/evening. Probably won't use again...

Another great meal from Bengal Spice, delicious, tasty and generous portions. Can’t wait to order again.

Unfortunately items from my order were missing

Food arrived 2 and a half hours after ordering, delivery driver wasn't in a rush to get out his car. Was sat on his phone whilst I was waiting outside my door. Food came in a cardboard box which was full of grease. And the food was cold. Won't be returning to this curry house again!!

Food was late and who makes a curry with bones in the chicken 🤷‍♂️. Not the best food.

Food quality was great. Delayed or order by an hour with no reason given, called to speak with the restaurant and the service was awful, not willing to accept they were in the wrong for providing false delivery times.

Great service I rang to just make sure food was going to be delivered on time as I have 3 young children and the guy said it was ready and he could deliver straight away... great food will definitely use again.

Ordered at 4:50pm, due for delivery at 5:50pm; delivery time was then changed to 6:20pm; time came, still no delivery. Waited til 6:40pm; still nothing, rang restaurant, to be spoken to in the rudest manner I’ve ever received and told delivery was on its way with his driver however food is STILL not here at 7:06pm. This is not the first time for late delivery or rudeness on phone. Absolutely disgusting customer service & delivery time!!!! Definitely won’t be ordering again!!

Such good food and honestly don’t get me wrong it was absolutely delicious, I will be ordering again and again but the last time it was so late, if I had been aware when ordering it wouldn’t have been an issue but there was no update on the app and it actually said on the way but when I called to see where it was it hadn’t left the restaurant yet?!! I have no issue with waiting for food as long as I know what I am in for when I place the order. Great Bhajis by the way! Yum yum.

Very disappointing. I ordered a lamb dish and it was inedible. The lamb was incredibly salty and every piece was so chewy and tough I had to spit it out.

We are still waiting for our order . Due for delivery 6.50pm now 8.30pm and we still waiting. Called Could ot understand person on phone so no idea what we are doing.

Food was excellent. Loads of chicken (real chicken not processed cubes) plenty of sauce and no grease on top of the dishes as I opened the cartons. Enough left for tonight! Will definitely be using Bengal Spice again.

Lovely food once again, the best

Food arrived late and extremely cold. Poppadoms were stale and soggy. Ordered garlic naans, sent plain. I must say, both curries were very tasty, but had to put it in the microwave before we could eat. Disappointing.

This is the second time in two weeks that the order has been more than an hour late - not good enough as we had someone who did not have time to eat their meal as they had to leave as it arrived.

Food was ok but 2 hours for delivery was not worth the wait. A call to the restaurant to check where the order was after 1 1/2 hours (app said 1 hour) was abruptly ended by them saying 5 minutes and then hanging up. We won't be using again.

Over 2 hours 40 mins... Cold... No garlic naan which I paid for and no Puree bread either. Disgusting service and not what I wanted or worth the wait. Will never order again. Please stay away from this place. Go to taste of paradise

Once again delicious ! Best we have had for ages

I usually order from Bengal Spice every week. This week the food wasn't as warm as usual, the chicken had a slightly undercooked taste and feel, and delivery took longer than usual (1 hour and 45 minutes). Hopefully the standards will be back to normal next time.

On ordering it said 45 minutes, When got confirmation it said 6.50 which was 1.20, it then didn't come till after half seven, We did call the take away a few times, When it finally arrived it was absolutely stone cold, not really edible because of this, We called take away and just got offered 10 off it we order again, it took over 2 hours

I love this food. I order ridiculously regularly, just sometimes now and then like this evening it arrives like warm which isn’t ideal. I don’t have an oven at the minute to warm it through.

The page clearly states that £10 is the threshold for free delivery, however, after ordering my meal I received a call from a member of staff requesting a delivery fee as my order was £12.40, which he explained was too small and that I should pick up. I refused to collect and instead he said I would need to pay £2.00 in cash upon delivery. Before I could question this the member of staff put the phone down. I refused to pay the extra once the food arrived and the delivery driver - who clearly had no idea and was caught in the middle - understood and sympathised. As JustEat scans based on postcode Bengal Spice should be offering the minimum delivery fee.

Telephoned and got an apology but do feel they need more staff for busier times like weekends. Just eat said food would be an hour and 20 mins however food took an added hour + Very sad when food is of decent quality but not so good when your a diabetic having to wait an extra hour +

The food was delivered almost an hour later than expected, it was Luke warm and some of the order was missing. Usually we get good food and what we ordered but the last few orders have been late delivered so I don’t think that we will bother again.

40 minutes late actually,I called them after it was 30 minutes late just to be told 'it was on its way,bye' then hung up,it was missing the starter so I had to call again just to be told 'I can have a free one next time',the food was mildly warm at best,don't think there will be a next time from there.

Ordered via just eat. Food took 1hour 50 to arrive, 55 minutes later than estimated delivery, 25 minutes after “your order is delayed” estimate. Muttered apologies but no explanations. Food was luke warm, lacked flavour and Bhaji was vert greasy. Very disappointed with delivery time,...

40-50 minute wait advertised, after order placed changed to 55 minute wait till estimated delivery time. 20 minutes after delivery due, after they had been chased, message on app said order delay and new delivery time of 30 minutes later than original due time. 15 minutes after new wait time further message sent, 10 minutes later delivery finally arrived. By this time my husband, who had an early shift, had given up waiting and gone to bed. When food arrived was luke warm at best and lacked flavour. Will definitely not be ordering again. Very disappointed.

Waited 3 hours. Never delivered as said couldn't find address. Delivery driver never called to ask for directions only the restaurant to say it wasn't coming and the order was cancelled.

Says delivery to my area but when I rang asking where it is they said don’t deliver to my area but yet have delivered before. I asked why they didn’t ring me as they have my number but couldn’t understand and kept asking me to pick up. We have ordered here many times and not had a problem so really disappointed.
