Visited this restaurant while in the area on a short break. I was with my partner 6yo and 10 month old. Service was great, food brilliant are a decent wine list. Lamb tikka and samosa starters were amazing. Mains delish and, nothing was rushed. Even my 10 mo tried some and lapped it up. Lastly, very fairly priced!

THE BEST INDIAN IN TWELLS! Me and my partner refuse to go anywhere else as their standard is so high. He goes regularly with a group from work and we go often too. Staff are welcoming, drinks are reasonable and the food is the best indian around. The Roshney is a favourite and the sytheti bhuna (sorry for the spelling). It is a small place so id recommended booking.

Got a takeaway last night, it was superb. The Dhansak was spicy, hot and not sweet, the Brinjal was soft melting with bags of flavour, lastly the pillau rice filled the kitchen with wonderful cinnamon and other spices when I took the lid off. Probably the best takeaway I've ever had, and I've eaten a few and measured up with eating in house! The staff were welcoming and although the restaurant was full I did not have to wait too long.

Buzzing last night (Saturday) which made an enjoyable evening. Garlic and cheese naan was not very cheesy or flavoursome and the rice portion was on the small side. Service was also frustratingly slow at the start and end of the meal. However, food generally good and reasonable value. Would recommend the Morgha Massala.

A bustling environment as we walked in from the train station - got to be a good place to eat we thought. Alas, despite (or perhaps because) we were seemingly the last to order, food was served very slowly, and was just "OK". Fulfilled a need, but didn't inspire a desire to return.

Old-fashioned style curry house. In fact, I’m sure curry houses back in the 1980s served better food. It’s clearly a popular venue, but it’s not for me.

Was a recommendation from someone local. Husband and I enjoyed our meals very much. Service was excellent friendly. Best naan we've ever eaten. One star off for the onion bhaji, was a little dry. The service was very good and the food was good. Although the korma was unnecessarily sweet, the jalfrezi was pretty much spot on. But there was something missing that would make it five stars - but I'm not sure what. Maybe that little extra in presentation, service food quality? A meal in the Giggling Squid was the same price but a much higher quality and food and service. But I'd go back again. Recommended.

Heard this was one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. We loved the 70's decor and that it was quirky, but was disappointed with the food. Dropped a greasy poppadom on my partner and her friend, then proceeded to place it back on the stack poppadoms and serve it to diners on another table that had ordered them. At the end of my partner and her friends meal, Bengals brasserie added a service charge of £16 to their bill. (Compulsory service charge: Must be stated to the customer in advance of ordering. The customer can only refuse to pay it if the service was poor. Discretionary service charge: Can be added to the bill receipt at the end of the meal, but the customer can decide not to pay it in any case.) If this is a compulsory service charge, my partner and her friends were not made aware of the charge before ordering. If this is a discretionary service charge, they were not made aware that it was a voluntary charge payment. My partner and her friends would happily pay a tip, but at their own choice, and not Bengals brasserie automatically volunteering someone else's money.

The best place in RTW! TNT held his 75th birthday party here. We had balloons, wine, pens, jokes, and music. The food was exceptional. I served in India in the 1940s and this food is authentic, modernised, evolved for the Brits and a great experience. Tony had a lovely evening. The wine is good. The music is excellent. The staff are incredible. Highly recommend. I love that the business encourages you to let your hair down . I love this place.

We really like this restaurant, it should get 4.5 stars. We visit when we are in the area - December. Hopefully we will do the same in 2023. Usually it is quite busy, a good sign. The menu is a little different from the usual Indian menu, so you have some standards there but also some different dishes...the kind I like to try. The service is excellent...we are greeted with a warm smile. The food and drink is welcome, good sized portions. A nice atmosphere. All good.

French, Cantonese, English, Italian - yes, but Indian cuisine is certainly not one of my preferences, or, rather, WAS not. It's coming up to 8.30-9pm, and the Bengal Brasserie - a modestly sized restaurant footsteps away from Tunbridge Wells Station - easily missed on the slope down towards the Pantiles area - is our destination, all other alternatives hitting their last orders. My companion is vindalooo-dedicated and, in contrast, I'm an anti-spice diner! So, delicate as I am, I order the mildest: lamb korma and pilau rice. My friend insists I try the onion bhaji (best ever, he claims) as well as the Bombay potatoes. The lamb was tender, the sauce rich without being ghee-fat-ransacked, and the bhaji's were home-made, feather light and as fresh as my immediate conversion to listing this Indian restaurant and its considerate and courteous service (and incredibly fair charges) to my aforementioned list of preferences. Roll on the graduation to Madras!

We visit Thackery’s two to three times a year and always have a wonderful evening. The welcome as you arrive is always special, always warm and friendly, and like seeing old friends. The main event is obviously the food, and the quality is always 5 star. Quality produce and cooked to perfection by the head chef and his team. An extensive wine menu is always a treat, with plenty of options whether by the glass or the bottle to choose from. We are never disappointed by Thackery’s , and are looking forward to our Xmas eves yearly visit next month.

We were given the Xmas menu on arrival. We then proceeded to order we were told they did not have one of the mains which two of us wanted. Then asked if we could order burgers which we did. Food portions were small, the burgers were just about ok. They were served on a plank of wood with the chips on an enamel dish. We all said it did not look good. The staff were not well turned out in fact quite scruffy. The outside of the pub was covered in leaves, 15 x minutes of sweeping could have cleared it up. We will not return.
