Belle Vue Hotel in Gwynedd

As we entered the pub it appeared to be rough the seating was hard steel and it was certainly a no frills pub, we felt as if we were imposing.

Pub quiz question was: what flavour is blue candy floss... answer was 'blue raspberry' they did not allow us to have 'rasberry'. Absolutely appalled. Will only come back bi weekly now instead of tri weekly. Furious

Very disappointed with the order, the chicken burgers were extremely dry, the pizza was burnt around the edges but not cooked elsewhere. The portion size for the cost of the chips was tiny and the chips were cold. Will not be ordering again.

Visited the pub on a Saturday night. The only way you can order a drink is via the app. No bar service. We ordered 2 pints of lager then waited over 30 minutes for them to arrive. During our time waiting we looked around the other tables in the bar.6 of the 8 tables had no drinks In front of them due to the inadequate ordering system. What an absolute shambles. Avoid this place like the plague.

Bar was pretty quiet, there was only a couple of people ahead of me but because the barman was so incredibly slow I ended up waiting 15 minutes just to get served. Also, they never seem to bother collecting empty glasses from the beer garden so it just looks messy Belle Vue is mostly just a student pub and I don't think the proprietors really care so long as they still make some money

My girlfriend and I came here after lectures today and were appalled at the price and wait for food. We ordered two hot chocolates, the mac and cheese, and the brie/cranberry baguette. Our hot chocolates were cold upon first sip, and we then had to wait OVER forty minutes for our lunch. The baguette cost me £6 although I could have bought something very similar (and probably better) in Morrison's down the road for £2. The "salad" that came with the baguette consisted of only one slice of tomato, one slice of cucumber and a slither of lettuce - pathetic. It's very disappointing as we used to love coming here for food over the years, but sadly, has now gone down hill.

Staff were rude. An empty packet of cigarette filters came on the plate with the meal. Would hate to think people were rolling cigarettes in the same area as food preparation!! Chips were cold and dry. Was told we would have to wait 30 minutes for food even though we were the only customers at 1.30pm! Would not recommend at all.

5quid for a beer, burger and chips. Comes on a slate. Whats not to like. Chicken burger was great and filling. Ive eaten here multiple times before. Was dissapointed last time, but after today i will be back again tomorrow

Bloody brilliant, best pub in Bangor and it's more than worth the visit. Great staff, atmosphere and drinks. Outside space is perfect for a summer drink and a good set up of screens for the world cup. Danny and the gang are amazing. You'd be missing out not to go.

went here today with my wife and granddaughter,i had the steak pie,it wasnt bad,the chips were a bit small,but hey thats just my opinion,my wife had the maccaroni with cheese and chips.my granddaughter had tuna melt with chips,we all left a small amount,but overall i liked the steak pie,the toilets were reasonably clean,the alcohol seemed cheaper than other places ive been in Bangor,2 bottles of becks,or 2 bottles of another famouse lager £3 that is very reasonable,the idea of serving the food on slate im not a fan of,as u dont know how clean the slate is,as for the menus,yes they were deff not as clean as they could have been,but once again i say hey one guy serving at the bar and making the food when quiet,well there u go thats why,and also why the food is reasonably priced.they have a dart board and a pool table too

The many many years I have lived in Bangor, I can honestly say belle Vue is the complete package. From the great variety of brings to the fantastic menu. The belle Vue has it all. Great service, from very professional and knowledgeable staff (jack the bald one) helped me make a decision from all the drinks available, and the food he recommended was delightful. The evening was amazing, the live music performed by the curly haired bartend was fantastic. I would recommend this pub to everyone. Whether it be for a quick snack or an evening of entertainment. I can truly say the belle Vue has made my experience. Every night is 100% effort and a fantastic place to be.

Had heard from colleagues how good food was so was very disappointed to be served a piece of lamb that was tough and fatty and inedible - they dealt with it but would not rush back....

Having tried The Bellevue previously a year ago, I attempted to give it another chance. How wrong I was! Nothing has changed in this venue. Still the same cheap, metal chairs. Dirty menus. Drinks did not taste fresh. The steak and ale pie was basically potato and onion soup with three bits of stewing steak. Fries not chips. Side salad consisted of a slice of tomato and slice of cucumber. I know it caters for students.... but the management should put some love into the business. The smell of the candles was quite over-powering. I think they must be going for cheap youth hostel look..... because that’s how it feels. Never going here again.

I have had excellent meals here before during my student days so decided to try it again. I was utterly dissapointed. Drippy people behind the bar who have no interest in making conversation. We ordered a lasagne a burger and pizza. The chips were cold with my burger. The lasagne was burnt underneath and looked like it had been reheated and was dry. The pizza was on a wrap not a pizza base. That however was delicious. Had a pint of heinekken which was flat and warm. Utterly dissapointed to be honest.

We stopped here for a quick bite and enjoyed beef and ale pie with a pint of 'Pride of Wales.' Our children had mac and cheese and chips. We ate in the back garden, but there were inside seats as well.

He conducido el pasado muchas veces en el camino para visitar a amigos en Bangor. Estaba alojado en un hotel cercano para una boda y vagamos en un viernes por la noche para una cerveza. Un lugar muy agradable y un gran ambiente. Había música en vivo, que no era demasiado entrometido en todo. Había una buena mezcla de gente y un buen ambiente. Sin duda volveremos.

Me encanta el bar bellevue, como local a menudo pop en una copa, todo el personal es fantástico y muy amable, Chris el dueño es genial y muy acogedor y aunque el semestre es muy popular con los estudiantes los lugareños siempre nos dieron una cálida bienvenida. Tienen una amplia variedad de vinos, cervezas y licores, buena comida y cerveza junto con un jardín muy agradable, gran entretenimiento cada semana y un ambiente muy agradable, es un pub para disfrutar de una salida nocturna.

Visita este pub utilizada para volver en el 1990 cuando era un estudiante en Bangor. Volvió brevemente en una visita de volar, me pareció que el lugar no había cambiado mucho en los últimos 21 años, aún es muy acogedor y el personal del bar es muy amable. Buena relación calidad-precio para las bebidas, un cómodo lugar para relajarse un rato y sólo en un buen recuerdo de desintegre del pasado!

No podía ser más decepcionados con asador Bellevue. Recibimos 1 budín de Yorkshire, unos soso quemado relleno bolas y 2 piezas de lo que parecía ser tan finas como el papel, listo carne comida.

This place is comfortable, the beer is not bad considering how close it is to a University. The Burger and Chips was fine. It's served on a slate which I think isn't necessary but the food was hot and tasty; not bad at all.

Nunca he tenido una mala experiencia con Belle Vue. El personal es amable, la comida es genial y son geniales, con equipos de deportes de la uni para Navidad/Fin de año comidas.

No hay personal en el bar, tuve que ir a la cocina para llamar a alguien. Buena cerveza, buenas sidras y gran gusto musical. Conseguir una hamburguesa, no sirve sabrosas, no cubiertos. . . .

No atmosphere, uncomfortable not good VFM, food satisfactory,although quite a pleasant waiter. Would not go back there.

Alright pub, but not great for food. Pizzas aren't actual pizzas- they use torillas as a base! Generally, they haven't got a wide range of food and it's not worth the money, especially as a student!

I went in for breakfast and was greeted with no staff which was great. We ordered our breakfast and some tea, when we asked why the tea was taking so long we were told that they couldn't wash the pots fast enough for the tea orders. Then the food comes about 45 mins later and not everyone on the table was served the food was burnt and cold the bacon was basically covered in fat from being left out so long, they have some of us a mix of quorn and porn sausages which made no sense. Still at this point without food the staff comes over and says we've had a mix up in the kitchen sorry about the wait, when I said I don't want to wait anymore and want a refund they said "we don't do refunds you can have some rosé instead" I simply said no thanks and sat down. The food came along and it was also burnt and tasteless but this time the black pudding was still frozen in the middle. Overall never go here.

I ordered a burger, fries and beer. The burger was the thinnest burger I've ever had, and had 2 pieces of lettuce and one slice of tomato on it, as well as not tasting great. The fries were cold and there was around 12 of them (not fat chips, we're talking McDonald's style fries), so were basically inedible. It was also served on a slate plate. I'm not certain why a slate plate was used, possibly to hide the fact there was no food on it? All it did was make it a little more awkward to try and eat.The beer was nice, and they seem to have good deals on beer if that's what you're primarily interested in.It was £5.50 in total, so I really wasn't expecting much. But the fries were inedible and the burger was awful, so I was still disappointed.

Visited early pm and the landlord(?) was deep in discussion with two other people with lots of paper scattered on the floor. Made a small joke about the amount of paper and not a smile: nothing. Tried a little more banter and not a twitch: all the personality of a damp patch. Yet... two females came in and he couldn't do enough; offered them a tour of the pub, asked them what they were doing etc. and couldn't have been more different; it was as if had a happy brother in the other bar. Not acceptable, landlord. Find a persona and stick to it, otherwise it's creepy.While on the subject of the pub, sort that blasted kitchen door out! It's constant banging drove us mad. We put up with it last year but won't go back unless it's to check on the door. I t wont be for the jollity of the landlord, that's for sure.One positive, the chef who eventually served us was spot on and displayed a lot of personality.

Went in as seen that's it's quite well known n lively. Difficult to find staff to begin with. When the bar lady did arrive her manner was as if I'd disturbed some important work of some sort even though their was only two people in there. Noted someone had left their bag, disregarded as they are out having a smoke, I was there half hour, doesn't take that long to smoke a cigarette. Food arrived fast. Hot. Unsure if it was fresh, tasted the same in little cook n that's all frozen. Overall - can see its appeal to students, but service was shocking. Didn't even get told where the knives and forks were n food was plonked on table. Think the chefs carry this place n not front of house staff!

Went with some friends for a cheap meal. There was little choice on the menu, but the burger deal with a drink is very good value for money. The food was well presented and tasted okay. Don't know if I would rush back to eat again, but for the price it is good.

Went in for breakfast with my partner, we were the only ones in there. Firstly we had to find a waiter to take our order, then after being served we waited for our food for 35 minutes, so wondering why it was taking so long my partner went and asked, the food then came out 10 minutes later and some of it was burnt to the point of being unedible, it didn't make sense why it took so long if it was already cooked, kind of makes you think they'd forgotten about it. We ate litteraly half of the meal, the staff knew we were unimpressed but nothing was done about it so we left. So surprised given how good the lunch/tea time food is!

What a steaming pile of drivel and that's just the food... not to mention a manager who just gets drunk and is rude to the customers completely over priced flat beer.. don't waste your time or money..

I have been to the Belle Vue a few times for lunch, and whilst the menu is limited to standard pub staples the food has always been well presented, freshly cooked and very tasty. The atmosphere is very relaxed and social. The only big negative is the chairs which let the place down. Overall though good value for money.

Went in with family for Sunday lunch. Excellent home made food .Tasty, good portions as you could help yourself.Excellent service.Polite and helpful staff.Best pub in area. recommend a visit.Delicious Malbec wine offered.Also went in midweek ,great mix of people good atmosphere. will go again often when I visit upper Bangor.

I asked at the bar if their sweet potato fries were vegan, expecting him to ask someone from the kitchen and come back. Instead, I was handed a packet of sweet potato fries and expected to look myself. I appreciate that he might not know what a vegan is, or what to look out for, but they have a kitchen because they serve meals and food. They should have somebody in the kitchen who knows! Not sure if this is normal but I found it quite rude, he didn't even ask me to look myself he just put it down in front of me on the bar. Apart from that, the atmosphere is nice but it can get very crowded in there.

Come here often with friends and always get 2 bottles of bud for £3. Cheap drinks on tap too, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The new outside area is great too and it feels like you're on holiday! Targets both students and locals (a lot of places in Bangor are focused on one or the other) and is a great place to go after exams too, as it's on the same road as the university. Love it!

The Belle Vue is a great place to meet up with friends for a bite to eat and a drink. The food is lovely and the portions are good for such cheap prices. The staff are also very friendly and there is usually a very good atmosphere in the pub.

Went with wife & daughter who is at uni The steak pie was the best iv ever tasted & the food overall was fantastic & plentyfull Will defo go ahain next time in bangor

Lovely food and wine selections. However in my opinion the food choices were slightly sparse. There was no chicken in the starters or main dishes. Although what we ate was very nice there could have been a slightly better range of choices and perhaps some of the dishes from the menu could have been given a slightly spicier touch..! But on the whole it was a very nice experience indeed.

Came to eat a quick lunch with friends and when I asked whether their vegetarian options could be OK for vegans, the staff went and read every label of every ingredient. The food was excellent and service very good.

I was looking for a quick, early evening dinner, so thought I would give the Belle Vue a try. It was outside term time, so the place was quiet and relaxing, and the offer of a pizza/pasta/burger/baguette plus a drink for £5 sounded rather cheap. I didn't expect much, but the wafer thin pizza was really good, and the coffee was superb. Staff were friendly and obliging; so all in all, a pleasant place and really good value.

This is one of my favourite places in Bangor. All the staff are always friendly and chatty. Every evening it's the busiest bar in Upper Bangor. A good atmosphere is guaranteed and regular live music is a nice addition. There are 3 parts to the bar; 2 areas inside and a large smoking area. Good choice of local ales, whiskey and wines! The wines are particularly good when compared with similar establishments. The food is simple, tasty and you can have a pizza or burger with a drink for £5! During the day I often pop in for a coffee, which again is the best offering in the area. This pub is a great addition to upper Bangor, students and locals alike should continue to frequent this jem!

The Belle Vue makes the most of its site - close to the university and student areas, and with a good street-facing profile, but, on the other hand, suffers from its constrained location which limits, for example what food they can offer.

As a lot of the reviews say. The food is a poorly made and very low quality. They really cant be called pizza and the meat lasagne had barely and meat at all. The other thing i find consistent with the reviews was the Manager. He does appear rude, self obsessed, useless and quite inexperienced. Although, as a side note I'm not sure if he had some sort of special needs so i may be wrong and he cant help how he is. When it comes to good points is that the pub does stay open late it seems and has some cheap prices.

Affectionately known as the BV, this is the best pub in Bangor. Welcoming for students and locals alike. Good food, cosy with a great atmosphere and it isn't bad value for money - lots of promotions going on though. There's also a great beer garden out the back. If you don't think it's the best then you'd agree that it's the quirkiest! My friends and I love it here and we have become regulars. Bangor would be a dull place without it!

Good value food, quantity good, quality ok. Pub is friendly and average priced. Board games and pub quizzes are brilliant here.

Me and my friends use this pub a lot, very welcoming and friendly with good prices on both beer and food.

The layout of the pub is actually okay, but this pub is overall terrible. Firstly with the food, the pizzas are thin pieces of wraps, and everything is done on the cheap. The food is served on cold slates where they are trying to be different but fail. I suppose the price isn't bad but it's not the best food. The quiz is fairly simply and questions are based around the staff. The quiz is hectic, no organisation, the people who run it are rude. I think the staff in particular are cocky and arrogant to customers and need to be friendlier. The owner puts me off the pub completely, very rude, thinks he is "down" with the students who find him annoying, and needs to pull his pants up. He doesn't seem to care about his customers. I would avoid this pub as you should go somewhere you are appreciated and can relax and enjoy yourself without the members of staff treating you like crap.

This is a busy and surprisingly popular pub, I tend to avoid this pub mainly because of the lack of professionalism shown by staff and even, on the occasion the owner. The food served here is average and the menu is general having said that, portion sizes are acceptable for the price. In terms of entertainment, the owner and the staff attempt to succeed in this area but fail. The pub quiz on a Sunday is particularly weak and directed mainly to locals it seems. Some questions were written based on the staff and if customers are not locals this is not a good experience as it was generally confusing at times.The overall atmosphere of the pub is unwelcoming, therefore i'd avoid this place like the plague.

The good is a good price. A very student friendly bar. Most of the bar staff are a delight, however one of which seems to have a massive ego issue. A customer should not be able to see if the bar staff are cocky wankers or not. Bar staff should always be lovely, and not make moves on your girlfriend.

bell vue has an excellent food service provding a wide range of meals e.g kangaroo and zebra burgers. The pub has enthusiastic staff who provide a friendly service and create a homely, comfortable atmosphere with an amazing outside bar and heated seated area

Well priced and pretty tasty food. The staff are always welcoming and they support students, a rarity in Bangor.

The beer is badly kept, the food is badly cooked. The pub is dirty and more often then not there is some form of leak in the toilets which smell horrific. Everything seems to be done on the cheep, the menu says home cooked pizza... its base was a tortilla wrap and tasted of nothing they also forgot one of my toppings and when I complained I did not receive an apology and had to request that it was remedied as that was not offered. Most of the staff are poorly trained and the manager is rude, crass and far to self obsessed. Would not come back if you paid me.

During my extensive tour of the pubs in Bangor during my undergraduate years the Belle Vue easily has the best atmosphere and great themed nights which are getting really popular. Only eaten there a few times but have never been disappointed.

Went in here whilst visiting the university on an open day. The pub is basic and the menu is short but the food is divine and exceptional value for money. A black Welsh Beef burger, fries and a drink for £6.00 (I had coke as was driving but could have had a pint for my £6.00). My wife had cheese and ham wrap and a drink for £5.00 and the boy had a pizza and a drink for a £5.00. All empty plates at the end. The bar staff were friendly as were the staff that brought us our food. DO NOT be put off by the appearance of the place, the food is spot on!!

Back in the day this was a busy and popular pub, but i understand the years have not been kind.The new owners are making a real effort to make the place a success.I didn't eat there on the couple of nights I went in but from what i could see the food was popular and with good sized portions.Live entrainment is obviously the owners main plan of attack for evening wiht quiz nights and plenty of live music including the lovely Beth Angharad.
