Bella’s in Weymouth and Portland

How disappointing! really not up to standard, the hygiene is poor. CLEANING TABLES WITH POLISH! well that's a first, that does not clean the tables it just polishes. The cook was constantly picking food and dipping it to what looked like a mayonnaise tub, eating grated cheese and the list goes on, also texting on her phone, no apron or washing off hands. I think an open kitchen is sometimes not a good idea, as the floor was filthy, and the tops were messy. Even the toilet was cleaner then the kitchen. The other 2 girls were friendly, but so was the cook. Word of advice put yourself on a hygiene course.

We saw plenty of hygiene issues at this cafe, which put us off eating so we can't review the food as we only had a cup of tea. Cook wiped her mouth with a tea towel that she then carried on using. Only hand washing was in filthy washing up water, in sink piled with dirty crockery. Meat being put next to salad on worktop, dirty fridge, rubbish piled up behind counter. Fly killer box over food prep area. Unwashed salad being used for side salad, and lots if reheating of frozen stuff which is not what we expect of a cafe describing itself as artisan.

Lovely little place right opposite the seafront. Nice breakfast although a little pricey for what you get it was all cooked very nicely not greasy. Lots on the menu to choose from. Staff member was very friendly and she also tweaked the food for our needs which was very kind of her. Would definitely recommend.

One of the best breakfasts I have ever had and the nicest for sure in Weymouth! Gorgeous thick meaty Cumberland sausage, perfect crispy bacon on a clean plate (no grease), unusual hash brown fries which were very moreish, perfectly cooked egg, nice beans in a small pot and lovely toast. Scrambled egg cooked to perfection and lovely coffee. The staff here are so lovely and down to earth and the cafe has a lovely sea view to boot. If I come back o Weymouth I would come here every day for my breakfast. Thank you x

Beautiful in all aspects. The produce, service, surroundings, view, value for money and location. Oh, and not forgetting Becky and her girls!!!

Went here for lunch and as we were sitting down waiting for the food, we were observing the chaos in the open kitchen. Dirty plates piled up at the sink, and the lack of hygiene. Our table was cleaned by spraying it with polish. The lady preparing the food wasn't wearing an apron and I never saw her wash her hands once, she just kept wiping her hands on her dirty jeans. She had a filthy tea towel draped over her shoulder which she used to wipe the cutlery on. Watching her popping food into her mouth every few minutes whilst producing the meals and even spooning something into her mouth was not my idea of good hygiene. The word "artisan" on the menu outside was what drew us into the cafe, but taking bags of stuff out of the freezer and chucking it in a deep fat fryer is not my understanding of that word. The side salad that was produced, consisted of taking an unwashed lettuce wrapped in cellophane, chopping it up after removing the wrapper and outer leaves and piling it on the plates. We would have walked out, but they had already taken our money when we ordered, and they were so stressed that it would have probably been a nightmare trying to get a refund. How this place has a 5-star hygiene rating is beyond me. Who awards these ratings?

Warm and friendly greeting. Lovely tea and coffee. Bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich and bacon and eggs all cooked to perfection. Dog friendly and lovely atmosphere.

Went to Weymouth for fish & chips but all the chippys were closed so we went here as we were hungry & cold! Chilli was good, shepherds pie was ok. I think they use cheap mince but overall it was ok & filling. Staff are welcoming & friendly. Loads of home cooked dishes to chose from on the menu which makes a nice change from paninis or sandwiches. Would go again & try something else off the menu.

The weather was awful in Weymouth so it basically pushed me into the cafe went for the breakfast which came with Hash brown Fries had a raspberry lemonade with the breakfast it was a good breakfast really enjoyed it finished with a black Armericano that was a nice cup of coffee

Popped here with our dog and what a great find! Lovely local cafe with very friendly staff. Made us and our dog feel very welcome. Great menu with lots of choice for everyone. We both had a panini which was very tasty. Some places mess up the simplest of dishes but this panini was made perfectly! We really enjoyed it alongside a big mug of nice coffee- much needed as the weather outside was very windy! Would recommend and would 100% return if in the area again.

Great little cafe, friendly staff. Great cup of tea with a lovely scone, jam and cream. Staff were very accommodating and helpful

We arrived without a reservation and were warmly welcomed on a very busy day. Good value and freshly cooked food. Catered well for our dog who was very spoiled by the attentive staff. Wonderful view across the seafront and bay. Would go again but sadly we don't live nearby and we're just visiting.

We came to weymouth for the fireworks. My husband has coliac disease and really struggles to find somewhere to eat. Right from the start the staff were absolutely lovely. Went through all gluten free meals - which was quite a few! Took our order for 4. Meals came out really quick. REALLY tasty food, even the children loved it. Mash was amazing! Sausages and chicken were cooked lovely. The staff were so helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Highly recommend coming here.

Attractive cafe from the outside, good location. Ordered & paid in advance but waited ages for food. Flat white awful, no coffee taste. Panini eventually arrived - tasteless stringy cheese & ham. Stopped serving food at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon! Staff obviously struggling. Kitchen area looked like a bomb had hit it & not sure about hygiene although it has a 5 rating sticker in the window! Such a shame as the building has such potential. This cafe could be a gold mine!

We only ordered a very small amount and it all took forever to come out and when we asked where the food was , the reply was they were busy and there was one other table in! Then when the food did arrive we didnt get what we ordered. Not great quality and the coffee is terrible.

I was looking for somewhere for breakfast and found this little gem. Great location with great views of the beach. Friendly staff, had the full English which was cracking, will defo be back

After seeing a previous review about the burger here I had to give it a try. It did not disappoint. Great flavour, good portion and friendly service.

I have reviewed this eatery before. I eat there frequently, probably once week, so I know the fare quite well. Today I went in, and initially asked for an old favourite, but the boss (you better believe it!) drew my attention to her specials board. She commented that she was trying some new options, and top of the list was a "chicpea an veg curry served with rice and mango chutney"! This is a bit out of her usual zone, but I thought it looked interesting, and I trust her cooking! Well pleased! Very, very tasty. I have asked her to repeat it! Recommended.

Stopped for a quick lunch here. I had sausage egg and chips with a sprinkling of salad, my wife had jacket potato beans and cole slaw. Both meals were really nice, the place is lovely and clean. Definitely recommend.

Had a fabulous lunch at Bella’s today. The owner is really friendly and her staff made us feel very welcome. We had a jacket potato and a bagel. The food was fresh and tasty. Highly recommend this wonderful cafe.
