We stopped in at Bella Italia following a full-day tour of the Scottish Highlands. The prices seemed reasonable and there were good gluten-free options, which I require. We started with the prawn scampi, which was excellent. I had GF pasta Bolognese and my husband had the Lasagna. My pasta was a bit undercooked. The sauce was good, but not exceptional. My husband thought his Lasagna was very good. When I saw gluten-free sticky toffee pudding on the menu, I had to have it. It was perfection! The cake was moist, dense, and deeply flavorful, soaked in sticky sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream. I had sticky toffee pudding the next day at Makars Mashed Potato Bar and it wasn't as good. The depth of flavor and moist gooey texture of the pudding at Bella Italia was better.

Everything was excellent. My wife is Gluten Free and you had great GF options. I like Lasagna and you had a delicious lasagna. The service was fine too.

Restaurant was able to cater for one of us who is gluten and milk free. Food wasn't hot but ready to eat and as we were both hungry it didn't last long. Service seemed a bit slow and they had an automatic charge button on the card machine which they should remove. Tips are earned by providing great service and shouldn't be expected

I really had a disappointed dinner at this location and there are so many things that really made me decide never use this company never again. I did order a Moretti which was not cold at all, actually it was warm, some my colleagues ordered the GF bruschetta which it was kind of flat bread (bruschetta is with bread and there is GF bread out there) and I can't believe they put onions in it , I never seen in my life onions in a bruschetta mix, after the same guests ordered the GF pasta with the so called Bolognese sauce which the pasta for a British was hard and the sauce was too many carrots (which made the sauce sweet and covered the flavour I could not see or taste the onions and celery in it) so both people left the dish , after another colleague had the spaghetti with gamberi which had no flavour at all and left the meal there. Nothing wrong with the lady that served us but she could of asked us more about the night maybe she was overwhelmed.

Hi dears.today I was thinking to try Italian food..and I made a perfect choice..I was eating a very delicious pasta..a perfect salad and the best tiramisu..and I was drinking the best rose Wine..the staff is very friendly..a beautiful people with a big heart .are smiling and so handsome..I enjoyed to stay here some hours..very nicely..cone here..I am proud of them.They are the best !!! ♥️💋

The servers were very snappy and non welcoming they, were continuously disrupting our party in a negative manner, ID’d our friends upon entering as somewhat of a ‘joke’ making them feel uncomfortable then before we had finished our food completely they whipped it away then proceeded to automatically apply a 20% service charge making my colleagues and I feel vulnerable and targeted. Especially in this day and age of cost of living this is frankly appalling.

We were part of a bigger group, from out of town, we had been attending the rugby game. After trying a few places with no luck, all very busy and crowded. It put a smile on all our faces to find a table just big enough. We were even happier when we were offered a table with plenty of space upstairs. The polish girl that was our waitress was efficient, happy, smiley, pleasant and funny.

Not bad but not much point in coming to eat there. Basic and expensive cuisine (€45 for two for a pasta dish each). Not very welcoming service. A little disappointed...

Very nice place to eat, very good service but the seafood pasta very dry and almost flavorless. What I didn't like was the service bonus + 30 pounds in addition to food and drink

We went for a early dinner when we arrived into the city. We weren't overly famished, so went with the 1/2 pizza and salad. When they came, I told the waitress that we had ordered the 1/2s, not the wholes. But it was pretty big. My husband had the pepperoni, and I had the chicken and mushroom. I noticed that some people complained in other reviews, but it appears to me that these are closer to the Neapolitan style pizzas, not the Chicago style we eat. So it's different, but still good.

Always a favourite in Edinburgh. The staff are so friendly. First question they ask is if anyone has any allergy, which really comforts us. Food is great, staff are great. I'll come again and again.

We visited Bella Italia on april 6 this year and had a very pleasent experience. Our waiter Caroline was very professional and she took her time to explain about the dishes , and the food was superb. We will definetly come back😊

As soon as we arrived, we were shown to our table by a very polite member of staff, (I didn't catch her name unfortunately). After a couple of moments, Lucas approached us for drinks orders. The drinks, especially my Mojito was delicious. Lucas took our food order, and my wife who is now gluten free asked a few questions regarding the food. Lucas was very attentive, sat down next to us and explained everything about the food she wanted. The food came in good time, bearing in mind it was Easter weekend and very busy, and Lucas regularly but not too often asked us how the food was. Not at any point did we feel rushed, in fact Lucas made us feel so welcome and relaxed, making us laugh and telling us stories. The food itself was delicious, especially my wife's gluten free pizza, which if I'm honest as an ex chef, I couldn't tell the base was gluten free. I can honestly say that Lucas was the friendliest waiter we've ever had and kept us entertained, and I'd recommend the restaurant to anyone.

We had a Caledonian pizza, and it was amazingly tasty and authentic flavours.

Maybe try the pizza… we had spaghetti and meatballs, and the bolognese, and it was underwhelming. Oily sauce, and very little portions.

The glutenfree pepperoni pizza is probably the best one I’ve ever had around Edinburgh. My husband usually eats Pollo Funghi, which he loves. Good place to have lunch/dinner. Clean and fast serving. We always come here everytime we are in town.

I can only agree with the comments: Fast service, location OK but value for money for the food is not right. The salad for 15 euros tasted good, as did the pizza and pasta. With water and a Diet Coke we paid 70 euros. Very little for the price! Afterwards we went to the supermarket and got something else.

If I could give zero stars I would. The employee that took our order was very unfriendly. We seemed like a nuisance to her. The food was just blah. My daughter literally said that she needed a grocery store and 30 minutes to prepare any of our meals. I felt the same way. I think they specialize in getting orders in and out quickly so they can earn more money from other unfortunate customers. We went to use the restroom and that area was so rundown and gross. It made me really question what the kitchen must have looked like. I would never go here again or recommend it to anyone. Stay away. I have no idea how their reviews and overall rating are so good.

Even for take away they charged us with service fee. And they did not grant the request to split bill.

We went with my wife and my daughter (1 year old) to have dinner on my birthday. 03/19 at 8:15 PM. The person who greeted us at the reception was super well prepared. Then a waiter who spoke Spanish demanded that we leave the stroller in one place, I told him that I was carrying the baby to the table and then he placed the stroller where he told me she was asleep. He rudely told me no and stood in front of the stroller. I asked him to let me pass and he rudely told me to do what he said or he would “throw us out” in a very rude manner. A lack of respect from that person, we ended up leaving because of the rudeness of that waiter. A shame since the place seemed nice!

The food was ok staff worked well and very attentive in a very busy restaurant. The toilets however were beyond disgusting.Dirty dirty dirty .I was ashamed to be in them especially when I saw a tourist trying to wet paper in the sink so she could clean the toilet.Totally neglected and disgusting.I took photographs but unable to post them.

The meal was fine but our server whose name we never caught but an optional 12.5% tip on our bill when we never asked him to. We were a group of 6 girls on a school trip.

Visited on Saturday 9th March, we hadn’t reserved a table but luckily they had a free table. We were greeted and seated promptly and our server was a pleasant young lady who took our drinks orders while we browsed the menu. Service was really good and food we had was delicious. The raspberry crush is a good alternative to an alcoholic drink!Recommend for nice good hearty Italian food. Will be back soon :)

Really devine! Honestly best pizza I ever had. The waiter was very attending, and got the balance right not to be at the table all the time but just enough and a really nice person and food was great!!! . Ramon is excellent!!!! Thank you for a fantastic experience!! You done a great job.

Amazing food and drinks. Great selection on the menu. One of our favourite spots from our trip! All of the staff were friendly and patient. We were one of the last sittings and we didn’t feel any way rushed to finish our meal. Very relaxing atmosphere.

The sharing bread was really only enough for one person and the chicken was supposed to be pulled chicken. It was so obviously sliced pre-packed chicken like you get in the super market. Quite disappointing.

Le lieu dispose d’une très bonne ambiance, le décor y est sympathique.

My girlfriend and I were in Edinburgh due to personal reasons. We arrived at 9 am and travelled an hour and a half to get there. We had not eaten all day and arrived at Bella Italia around 4 pm. Once we had been seated, the waitress was suddenly in our faces, asking us what we wanted to order; at this point, I hadn't even had time to look at their menu yet. So, we asked for five more minutes, and she reappeared a minute later. We had ordered three starters to share between us (one was a tiny bowl of olives) and a pizza each, which is an average amount of food to eat at a restaurant. However, the waitress ushered us out of our seats and into a bigger table, "You have ordered too much, and it won't fit on the table." Which was fine as the table was small, but she continuously made shaming comments towards us the entire evening about how much we had eaten. We came to this restaurant to celebrate a significant life-changing event, and this waitress was disrespectful to us the whole time. We had asked for the bill to find a service charge (which she did not deserve), and was more than 10%. I usually pay a tip, but they have some nerve to add this high a tip to abysmal service. After spending the ridiculously large tip, this waitress had the cheek to make another comment shaming us about how we had overeaten again!! I don't come to a restaurant to be shamed for eating; I go to a restaurant to eat. I have seen multiple reviews mentioning the "rude blonde waitress". We definitely won't be going back. I will instead return to Pizza Express, where I know I won't be shamed for eating.

The location is convenient, the food is ok, the service is tolerable, but why don’t they renovate the toilet? It's horrible. And I don't like that tips are included in the bill, they are not deserved.

Every time we visit, we always have a friendly and professional welcome. Magda was attentive and the food was tasty and we didn’t have to wait too long either. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Watch out for the 12.5 percent "service fee". Won't go back. Won't recommend. It is basic food with decent service but certainly not worth the money.

Went there for my birthday dinner and it was very disappointing. Mainly as the portions were terrible and the price was ridiculous. My girlfriend had the doughballs for starter and I had the pollo funghi, the portions of these were not too bad but they were both quite pricey at £7 each. However, my girlfriend got the melting cheese on top fo the doughballs which were said in the menu to be "fondue style" they were not fondue style but just a little bit of melted mozzarella for £2 more. The mains were the worse part as we got the lasagna and carbonara with pulled chicken (the chicken was £2 extra), along with a side of garlic ciabatta. When they came out i remember thinking "is that it", there was not much carbonara and the lasagna was a bit more substantial but not much either. My girlfriend doesn't have a massive appetite but finished the lasagna and still didnt feel very full. The carbonara cost £17 and the lasagna £15. The worst part was the ciabatta, it was £4.50 and what came out was two very small bits of bread that were soaked in garlic oil that they were basically a sponge. All in all, will not be going back here again. I understand that Edinburgh is not exactly the cheapest place but there are definitely places where you money will go much further than Bella Italia when it comes to finding a good meal.

I had Tesco reward vouchers. These were refused and I was told neither Bella (there are two) accepted them. At Xmas they had a sign at the Hanover branch that no discounts were valid during that period including Tesco ones. That led me to believe that they were accepted outside that period, but no. When my meal arrived and my friends the portion was tiny. A complete rip off and I will take a loss on the vouchers as it is not worth the hassle. I won’t eat there again.

The food was okay, but the service was very unfriendly. We wanted to pay separately, which normally shouldn't be too much to ask. However, when we asked the waiter if we could split the amount, he already sighed and said it was too much work for him. He pointed us to a QR code and asked us to split the bill ourselves online. This also worked for 2 of us. However, my friend couldn't pay online, so she paid the waiter instead. We were then told that our online payment had not worked, even though we received a confirmation by email and the amount had been deducted from our card. We were asked to pay again and left us alone with the problem for the time being, even though we did everything right. Since their system apparently didn't recognize our payment, they didn't want to let us go. Ultimately my friend had to pay again, not knowing whether she had paid twice. We will no longer eat there if the staff continues to find it too much to keep a separate bill.

This restaurant is very expensive and horrible food We ordered a risotto which was the most expensive thing on the menu. and it was rice with butter and two shrimp! I feel robbed and cheated, I will never go back

Very good place! Delicious food! Great gluten free options, and the staff seem like they take allergies very seriously! The glutenfree garlic bread is amazing:) great food for a great deal. Very nice staff. Would definetly go back! Downsides are dirty bathrooms. And even though its a cozy resturant, and there is a lot of noise coming from the kitchen, so try to ask for a table far from the kitchen.

Lukasz was possibly the rudest waiter i’ve ever experienced. Not only was he rude to us, but he made fun of a female member of staff in front of several tables. When he came over to take our drinks, we ordered a wine, a beer...

Dear Manager, I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration regarding the rude behavior exhibited by one of your waitstaff during my recent visit to your establishment. As a first time visit of your restaurant bella italia, I have enjoyed the ambiance, but my recent experience has left me deeply dissatisfied. It was happened on the upstairs, the waitress has long blonde hair and around 13:00 - 13:30 (10 FEBRUARY 2024) Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by couple of waiter staff, I asked for upper floor they helped me about it. I couldn’t find and coatroam or anything to hang my coat and other belongs. I had a lot of belongs with me. I took a chair, and the floor was empty and I can easily say that If someone come to next to my table I could immediately take my belongings with me, and leave the chair empty. I have that empathy of course.. Throughout the entire moment, the waitress, her attitude towards me and my companion was consistently dismissive and borderline disrespectful. She seemed disinterested in providing us with proper service, and their lack of professionalism was evident in their curt responses and abrupt mannerisms. She asked me to take my belongings and I said “do you have a coatroom or something to hang my things out?” At that moment she was so angry and tapping her hand to my chair synchronizingly her mouth “YOU! HAVE! TO! USE! YOUR! OWN! CHAIR” i was shocked. She kept “THERE IS RUGBY TODAY WE CANNOT LET YOU DO THAT OKAY??!! OKAY!!’??” This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and tarnishes the reputation of your establishment. I had opened 2 hotels, 2 fine dining restaurants and 1 fast food restaurant and 1 pizzeria in my entire life.. i have trained my staff with a high level customer service and customer experience. Never seen anything like that! As a customer, I expect to be treated with courtesy and respect. Unfortunately, the behavior of your waitress fell far short of these expectations. I urge you to address this issue promptly and ensure that all members of your staff undergo proper training in customer service etiquette. I hope that you take my complaint seriously and take the necessary steps to rectify this situation. Poor quality of food, waitresses running like headless chickens, overpriced meals and disgusting toilets. Bella Italia, you disappoint us for one more time!

My friends and I attended this establishment, we were throughly excited to attend this restaurant, we booked a table for 8:45pm as it was the only available booking , upon arrival we were told to hurry as the kitchen was closing at 9pm, we understood this and had no problem. As the food came out (very quickly) it held disappointment and lacked flavour, throughout our experience we were rushed and felt awfully uncomfortable. Towards the end, when paying the bill, our server shouted in Italian, they won’t tip us. I wouldn’t recommend coming to this establishment as the staff and service is rude and not welcoming in at all, as we entered even some customers said “good luck” I do not recommend

Nous sortons de ce restaurant en ayant encore faim, après avoir payé 45€ pour deux cocas et deux minuscules assiettes de pâtes. Des menus enfants auraient certainement étaient plus adaptés à la portion servie. Près de 5€ de service facturé pour s’être assis 25 minutes chrono et être repartis le ventre creux. Les toilettes sentent mauvais et aucun verrous aux toilettes pour femme. Honteux. À fuir, malgré d’une jolie devanture et un menu attirant. Les plats étaient assez bons. Je n’ai pas pour habitude de noter ainsi sur Google, mais je me sens arnaquée ce soir.

Excelente en todo sentido. El lugar está muy bien decorado, brindando un espacio cómodo y tranquilo al cliente. Tienen un menú muy completo, con opciones veganas y vegetarianas. El personal es muy atento, te preguntan si sos alérgico a algún alimento o condimento (lo cual me pareció super amable y digno de mencionar). Tienen baños limpios. Aceptan pagos en efectivo y con diferentes medios de pago electrónico.
