Belinnis in Newry and Mourne

This was the first time here for Sunday lunch since before covid and it was fantastic...all six of us were impressed with the menu choices, the portions and the quality of the food. Can't wait to go back.

This is an excellent comedy store venue that should be used for this purpose much more often. We arrived early to get a good seat for this surreal comedian. The room was large and comfortably warm with lots of tables and chairs. The sound system was great. A great crowd turned out for this very very funny man and the bar had a few staff to cope with a happy thirsty crowd. During interval time I got a bar order for three and popped down to the ground floor bar for a very tasty cappuccino just for me. The event itself was organised by the wonderful A Iur Cinn Fleadh. The last time we saw his show here it was also organised by them. They are truly wonderful volunteers and great ambassadors for our area. They are almost the last volunteer group we have standing here as our local NMDDC has/is systematically destroying such groups. The High Street community group are deliberately starved of funding and the local LGBTQI Pride In Newry were so successful at running events they had to be cast aside despite running much better events for a fraction of the prices NMDDC shell out. Wake The Giant is a giant waste of rates money well into six figures.

Please be VERY WARY purchasing tickets for any event held in Bellinis. I bought tickets for a performance - I had attended previously a Princess Party - I realised immediately it was the same group (loc-down events) putting on the performance but it was superhero’s and not princesses. I contacted the ticket sales Eventbrite and they stated tickets were non refundable and I had to contact the person managing the event to get refund/exchange. I then contacted the loc-down events group and they replied immediately and were very helpful but stated they only put on the show and don’t deal with tickets or sales - that is specifically Bellinis that has to deal with any tickets/sales issues. I contacted Bellinis and they tried to fob me off to Eventbrite and Loc-down events. When I relayed several times that I had already done so and was told by both companies it was Bellinis I had to contact they took my name and said if the manager could do anything he would ring me. No call. I tried several more times and never got a response. The event was today and my tickets were wasted. I also attended this event in the Canal Court before Bellinis hosted & they were very accommodating - I’m hoping it returns there!

The place is nice enough. Average generic bar. What is the deal with the door staff? Ignorant and not accommodating at all. The internal staff is brilliant. I won't be back due to the door staff. I recommend going elsewhere. It's all a bit foreboding

14 of us in for dads birthday dinner. Food was absolutely delicious and portion sizes very generous. Great choice of food and everything to perfection. Service was exceptional and attentive! Big thanks to head Chef paddy - who accommodated us “fussy “ eaters !! Will definitely return 10/10

We needed a place to eat and have a drink. From the outside Bellini's looks like a nightclub or a furniture warehouse. We saw the door open and inside there is a large bar. We were taken to a table and we were hungry. I had scampi and it was so obviously fresh. Nice sauces too and nicely cooked vegetables. In fact it was very tasty. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant /bar. It's comfortable and well decorated and the staff are very nice.

If Bellini’s had a motto it would be quantitas non qualitas, quantity not quality. They definitely fill the plate with food, terrible food. The prawns in the prawn cocktail are an insult to supermarket prawns, and the sauce is so watery you see could through it. The sweet chilli chicken main had more sauce than chicken, even the table went soggy. The only item I could recommend was the tap water.

Contacted Bellini's quite last minute to book dinner for a busload of 54 people....Aibhin & Eamon could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Also Gavin on the day. The food was absolutely beautiful and the service was fast & professional. The menu was extensive and they catered for both Vegetarian & Gluten-Free, as we had both on our bus and they loved the food. Very good value for money. Would definitely recommend it.

Had had lunch a while ago here and it was not great but decided to give it a go of an evening. MISTAKE!! Food was really poor, bland. Food was practically thrown at us and to complete the perfect evening, when I asked for a drink around 9.40 they told us that they had decided to close as it was very quiet. Not that we were overly keen to stay but they could have had the common courtesy to announce that they were going to close shortly to give people an option of a drink or dessert or whatever. NO wonder they were quiet. Never again.

Just visited here. Food was so bland, ordered Cuban ciabatta but got sordough. No explanation as to why, the food was dropped and then we didn’t see any staff again. All my families food was the same, nothing to write home about. We had to go looking for staff to pay the bill, they cleared the table and we weren’t even asked if everything was ok! Picked up the plates and handed the bill. I would understand if it was packed but from I could see it was only us. Terrible service, it takes a lot for me to complain but this visit warranted this review. Better places around and perhaps this is the reason why it was empty.

Normally I like Bellini's food, however, yesterday, Easter Sunday 2022, at a family lunch I chose the chicken curry. Turned out to be a TERRIBLE choice. The curry had peppers, onions and mushrooms in, not normally a problem as I like all three, however, the veg was so overcooked, lifeless, not a crunch bit of a mess really. I don't think the rice was seasoned with anything, let alone a drop of salt and the chicken itself was very dry. The chips weren't too bad once I put some salt and vinegar on them. All in all very disappointed.

We didn't visit this time but rather got ourselves a carryout via a gift card.. We got a Sunday lunch ...starter,main and dessert...brought all home and literally scoffed the lot,totally forgot to take pics but was as good as sitting in same amounts and everything... Personally we've decided to do this on a regular basis...sure you couldn't make it plus no washing!!!....Its 10.25 and I'm still stuffed,seriously, give it a go!!!

First class service and the best steak I have had in a very long time, absolutely beautiful food top class serive couldn't recommend it enough definitely be back soon, great value for money and top class foodqq

Booked a joint birthday meal for Saturday A 40th & a 70th birthday - menu was handpicked by me & details finalised with the lovely Aoibheen. Good food and attentive service made this establishment worth noting. The menu was quite varied. Because we visited in December, lots of people were there for work-related Christmas parties, and this made the atmosphere even more pleasant. The staff was friendly and accomodating.

Waitress seemed she was doing us a favour by taking, and serving our order. The food was edible (just), no point in complaining. Even though it's a central bar, there seems to favour "locals".

Big bar in the centre of town, very popular, all the sports shown on dozens of tvs. Food ok, but not restaurant quality. Becomes like a night club after 9pm.

We went for our staff Xmas dinner which was fine, but half way through I crunch on what I first thought was a bit of a tooth that broke, but turned out to a big piece of glass. The staff were very apologetic about it and gave a few of us a round of drinks and took the piece of glass away to figure out were it came from. Still, it was a bit shocking as I started wondering if I'd swallowed any of it. They gave me another dinner but I was a bit too nervous to eat it really. I imagine that those meals were brought in from outside catering companies and that it was something out of their control. Still, it did freak me out a bit.

Always visit here when staying in newry. The addition of drumstick,loop loop and twister cocktails was a great idea. Lovely food also. 5/5

Sunday lunch pot roast and fixings, along with fish n chips were great...will go back. Full bar, music and good service.

A few of my friends have been telling me to give Belinnis a try and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was uncomplicated but tasty, the waitress wasn't the happiest person I ever met, but the price was fantastic. A child eats free with every adult main and the adult menu was very competitively priced. Great value night out with the family (especially for slim January wallets). Can't give 5 due to sulky waitress...cannot underemphise the difference good chatty service makes to an evening.

Have to say the service here was first class. Nothing was any bother to them and Bronagh always has a welcoming smile on her face. The food was amazing. Such a great selection for all the family.
