I ate here 3 nights on the trot during a business trip. I was staying at the canal court hotel so seemed the east choice. The staff in here are great, very friendly and fast. The menu was good with a nice choice of different types of food. I had the roast beef, sirloin steak and chicken burger during my stay. I would recommend them all.

Table service was the worst I’ve experienced in a long time. Our booking for for 7.30pm everyone arrived on time, (some where there early) we had to wait before our order was taken and after waiting almost an hour we enquired to a member of staff why were people who arrived after us almost finished their meals and we were still waiting for ours, only to be informed by a very loud rude male member of staff, Well ladies after all you did have to sit and wait for the rest of your party to arrive, which we politely told him that all our party were seated before 7.30pm the time of our booking. It was almost 9pm before we got our food, the food was lovely but will not be in a hurry back.

Excellent food served and service was fabulous.Keep up the good work. Great to see more mature staff on duty as you find a lot of hotels have student/ younger staff and I don't think they want to work

Asked for rare steak, received a pale offering that was tasteless and not definitely not rare. If a Chef can't cook a steak then it's time to replace him. House salad is like something from the 70's - guys, nobody wants a tinned pineapple ring in the middle of their salad. The Menu was tired, outdated and everything seems to be breaded. Serious lack of choice for gluten free people, most places nowadays have a separate menu for food allergies. On the plus side the service was pretty good although the Waiter brought over my bill before I was finished (I actually wanted another coffee) so I felt rushed. The food at the Canal Court is just not good enough and I won't be back. Any tourists visiting the Granary Bar will be seriously disappointed.

We were staying in the hotel and had drinks and snacks in the bar. The sandwiches were great and very well presented. Service is excellent, they have a small army of folks serving tables and they are all very responsive. We found the bar area to be busy but we could always find a place to sit so it was just right.

Nice bar area and have live music on the weekends (Sunday nights for sure). Bartenders very attentive and friendly. We did not eat here, only had a Guinness (which is the best we had throughout northern Ireland).

Fish, chips, and salad with tartare sauce. The lettuce had more flavour than the rest. The tartare was mayo. We will lunch elsewhere in future.

Lovely Hotel, situated rite on the Canal, in the heart of Newry. Great reception area, and we were made fell very welcome. The rooms are adequatly furnished, with large beds, a fridge, ironing board, slippers and gowns. The restaurant is spacious, and the srevice we received on arrival for our evening meal was exceptional. The food was delicious, and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The bar had music and a DJ to cater for all tastes in music... Breakfast was out of this world, with everything you could think of on display. The Hotel has a pool, gym, jacuzzi and spa areas.. Overall, we had a very pleasant and relaxing stay, I would recommend this Hotel to anyone looking a short break, or as a venue for a wedding. We will definitly be back.

Just visited the Canal Court, for afternoon tea with a party of 9. I don't normally write reviews, however our entire experience was so lovely that I felt that I had to compliment the hotel and their staff. Our table was prepared for us on arrival overlooking the Canal. We were given little cups of soup before our food was brought out, which were very tasty. The sandwiches, scones and desserts were all delicious, freshly made and well presented. Staff were very attentive and came back on numerous occasions with more hot tea and coffee . Thank you to the Canal Court for a lovely afternoon.

The 1st time we went the waiter dropped a glass of wine down my back soaking me and destroying my new blazer all of this before we even got starters so I had to sit threw the meal with a wet back, when I was paying for a very over priced meal they said to dope the blazer in the following day to be dry cleaned but as I live an hour away there was no point any other restaurant would have give a free drink at least.

This restaurant is located inside canal court hotel on main floor. Had carvery lunch on Sunday, lots of meats, veggies, and other dishes to choose from. There was a large line when we went but it moves fairly fast. Restaurant is pretty big with seating on two levels so it's not hard to find somewhere to eat. Kid portion plates are also available. There is free parking located on back of hotel

I was on a girlie day out and thought lets treat ourself to a nice hotel lunch. We went int the granary bar, ordered 2 cokes and then queued up for lunch. We were a little down when we relaxed that it was carvery. My friend is a vegetarian and got all but the meat and was charged the full £9. I got a starter caesar which was tasty but very small. We heard an elderly couple being asked how was their lunch by a staff member. They gentleman said the fish was tasteless and disappointing. The git, said 'it depends on the chef' .... That was it. No, sorry to hear that. I wish we had have went to the restaurant, as the Granary have a restricted menu.

I went to the Canal court hotel on Merchants Quay in Newry for a special birthday meal with my family. We went to the upstairs bar and the service was appalling. It felt like the staff wanted us out of the way before we sat down. I have never seen a waiter with their notepad and pen ready to take an order before allowing everyone to be seated and having the chance to read the menu. One of the party arrived after travelling a long distance only to be told "pronto" as the waiter hurried him into making a choice. He was so upset that he eventually sent the meal back untouched. So the atmosphere was ruined.I made a complaint at the reception desk with whom I left my phone number. They told me a manager would phone the next day. Needless to say the manager never phoned.I still cannot believe the customer service that this hotel displayed.

Called on a Sunday just after the carvery had closed, had a mixed grill good value apart from the very small lamb chop. Service was good. The loud voices from the kitchen and very loud banging door made conversation difficult. I will admit we were near the kitchen but the table and comfortable chairs we sat at were not matched anywhere else in the area.

I've eaten here a few times over the years while visiting family in Ireland. Had a look at the carvery, but we decided to get sandwiches. I had a panini that was ok, I would go for a regular toasted sandwich next time. My wife had a toasty and it was lovely.Good staff and a nice pub.

Had lunch in here yesterday a carvery and it was discusting, chef had a face like he was eatings wasps, the food meats ok but the vegetables were rotten they looked and tasted vile, as a previous person said you would serve to dog. The young girl chef just slapped on gravy and veg, to top it all off i got a hair in the sloppy cabbage they served, was it left over food from all week they were serving, noticed there was not 2 many people there seemed a older crowd off people eating. Did not mention this as this is 2nd time it has happened last time it was in cheesecake so say no more. My daughter give me the gift voucher for christmas, so will tell her not to go back to this place. These PEOPLE need to to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE as we are PAYING there WAGES. 9/1/2014
