silent valley cafe in Newry and Mourne

Perhaps it's not full season service yet. I know I have a English accent but not sure a pot of tea and cappuccino sound the same. Anyway the girl was pleasant so didn't want to make a fuss so drank my tea🤭

What an absolute gem of a Cafe. Yummy Chocolate cake and Berry tea. Also they had oat milk for my daughter. Even more importantly, they were able to supply her with a mobile phone charger. "Life saver!" Thank you.

Lovely wee cafe , had sausage rolls and coffee after 5h hike.

Stopped by with two friends for some lunch and coffee, have to say everything was lovely and definitely recommend if you stop by.

Because it was unseasonably warm we only went in to see if we could find an ice cream or ice lollipop but the freezer was clogged with ice and the contents looked less than appetising. I think the warm weather took the management by surprise. We didn't buy. The rest of the cafe looked good.

Lovely wee cafe in amazing surrounding. Had soup and sandwich and both were really lovely. Definitely recommend if ur visiting the slient valley. They have a freezer so u can buy ice cream and lollipops too. Loved it.

Back to 80's cafe decor. Kind of lovely. Nice latte and view out of the window.

Tucked away in the trees overlooking the gardens and granite housing, with a backdrop of bare mountains, the sitting out spaces are star peaceful attraction, inside it is warm and homely

I had a lovely cheese toastie there. The staff were very friendly also.

The food is basic, just a stop over for a quick cuppa, tray break or microwaved sausage roll . That sort of place. Satisfactory for what it is but don't expect a proper quaint coffee shop with a substantial lunch. There are also a few outside tables where dogs are allowed. We went on a rainy day in October but I would expect it to be very busy on a different day. Covid restriction were good..screens, plastic cutlery and take away cups. The staff used tongs to pick up the tray bakes which I always prefer. It is ten minutes walk from the car park so you could spend a little time feeding the duck before setting of on you walk. The staff member was exceptionally helpful and friendly.

This is a simple pleasant-enough cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. Coffee was rather weak: a range of cakes available. Family friendly Good attention paid to hygiene - important post-pandemic. The use of disposable crockery is unfortunate but understandable

My partner and I had a 10km walk in the Silent Valley Reservoir and had lunch and tea at the coffee shop after the walk. We were trying to call our Cab to pick us up but our Eire phone did not allow to call a Northern Irish landline for some reason, and the staff allowed us to use their landline so we could actually leave the place :) That was lovely from them! Very much appreciated, thank you so much. The panini was also lovely. I wish I had space after it for an ice cream :) Hope to be back soon, the location is stunning!

This is a simple coffee shop in the gorgeous Silent Valley Park. We just had some coffee and scones which were good. Staff were very nice and its a nice stop on the many walks around the park.

Been to the Silent Valley a few times but today was the first visit to the cafe had the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever tasted and very reasonably priced good coffee and all served by a very pleasant lady10/10.

Lovely location, friendly staff and tasty food. Colouring pencils and paper for the kids provided us with a peaceful lunch. Worth a visit.

The cafe is in a beautiful location, sent valley definitely needs a cafe. The prices are not expensive, however, I don't believe the food is worth the price. A toastie is £3.95 - this is for a toastie and a few crisps, no salad / coleslaw etc.

Decided to go for a walk with my husband and while we where their we popped in to the Cafe for a bite of lunch and we both where very pleasantly surprised, with the dated decor we where feeling hopefull that the food wasn't the same but BOY we where surprised, we got soup and a sandwich and it was the nicest Sandwich I have ever eaten, all fresh ingredients and the freshest bread it was totally delicious ! The Lady working was very pleasant and helpful and made us feel very welcome.

Was pleasantly surprised that the cafe was open on New Year's Day. Some of our party had vegetable soup and wheaten bread and the others sausage rolls. The food was very tasty and the lady who served us couldn't have been nicer.

It’s a very pleasantly and efficiently run cafe. They have a wide range of savoury and sweet dishes. They also offer a good range of drinks, and on a warm day like today there are tables to sit at outside.

As many others returning to the cafe after the 6 mile walk along the reservoirs is very welcoming. The selection of food sandwiches and hot drinks are very good. They have a unique selection of flavoured scones, white chocolate and raspberry, mint aero and what we thought was cheese and chutney ended up being a mars bar scone ! Honestly truely unique and worth a visit.

One of my favourite spots in Kilkeel such a lovely place to sit and have a bite to eat and a coffee . The kids won’t be disappointed as there is plenty of space for them to run about.. 🤗 Also a Museum is close to the restaurant filled with the History of the Silent valley which is very interesting 😊 Suitable for all ages. Cafe offers a variety of foods & refreshments. 😍 very tasty. P

Did 6mile walk up to Ben crom reservoir ..fantastic scenery..then ready for much needed refreshments in the cafe. Very clean and welcoming..great choice on menu..well done ladies will be back soon.

It is beautiful here. Not only is the food lovely you can enjoy a real relaxing time and admire the beautiful views surrounding.

Lovely home baked food. The bread etc is individually wrapped so no one else has touched it. Great location

Great scenery,cafe was very busy but services good and room to sit down,the downside was the prices,very expensive and yes it's remote but that should not affect pricing.

Bring this place up to a decent standard, my great, great grandfather built the dam. It deserves better respect.

Pedimos dos sándwiches tostados. A menos que se lo pueda queso de orden como uno de sus dos empastes no tienes. Me pareció que queso era estándar en una tostada por lo demás es una rosca no una tostada de sándwich en mi opinión. relleno...

Decidimos ir a cenar y un paseo al valle silencioso. Las hermosas vistas, a los niños les encantó la libertad de correr y jugar en el parque. La cafetería me pareció muy acogedor, el personal es muy amable. La comida era excelente. Teníamos estofado, patatas, Panini, entonces nosotros mismos nos ayudó a elaborar un surtido de bandeja alta y bollos recién hechos. Yo sin duda volveré y lo recomiendo a cualquiera. : Muy agradable )

Ya he descrito mi verdadera vida estofado horror y estoy demasiado traumatizados como para hacerlo todo de nuevo. En resumen, el chef es miedo y sale de Monster, a menos que se encuentran y decir que ella casi meatless, onionless, carrotless Irish Stew es agradable. Soy preocupante ahora en caso de que se entere donde vivo! El té y bollos son buenas y había una chica joven camarera allí cuando visitamos. Pero no vamos a volver.

The Silent Valley Cafe in the heart of the Mournes is exactly what you need after a walk through this magnificent part of the world. Hot soup, bowl of Irish stew, toastie, sausage roll, an array of fresh home baked cakes, scones and desserts, to name but a few, all home cooked fare, freshly prepared that day. Today is the 4th of October and we didn't expect the cafe to be open since tourist season in the Mournes usually finishes in early Autumn but there it was, a beacon of welcome after our walk. Our tea/coffee was hot and our scones were fresh, served by smiling, pleasant staff, nothing too much bother. Make sure you call for a snack and a top-up of Mourne charm in this haven of peaceful beauty.

fresh home baking on the premises - great value (large portions) for what you get - great coffee & teas - friendly courteous staff - nothing is too much trouble - welcoming atmosphere - good for a substantial light lunch - carrot cake to die for - stock of up-to-date postcards and OS maps for purchase - ideal location before or after a short or long walk - don't be put off by outside impression of historic 'bungalow' building - outside tables and verandah ideal on warm, sunny day - like any forest area, midges (bug) cannot be avoided outside on muggy, damp days in July or August (bring your own insect repellant)

It caters mostly for the tourist trade. Its a cafe but could do with a little more selection and what we got might not have been too fresh. Staff were friendly though and the Silent Valley is a lovely place to visit

This place is just what you need after a winter walk in stunning scenery. There were four types of soup on offer today, all sounded delicious. My recommendation is the turnip and pepper!

Good coffee as THE ONE SHOW said on the BBC, relaxed atmosphere and good food for all the family.
