Beautiful tasty food, lovely atmosphere, friendly experienced staff, fantastic menu, great portion size. If I were to write 'what my dream restaurant is', this would be it. We've been twice, once during 'eat out to help out' and again lately. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed. Already looking forward to going back. A hidden gem in Newry

Well I was really disappointed but there were some good parts. What had attracted me on the menu were the haddock goujons on a gourmet sandwich but my goodness when I looked at it I saw factory processed, battered fish, and it was grim. I sure didn’t expect this rubbish, I felt like shouting ‘you can’t be serious’ and to be charged £8 for it was insulting. There’s one certainty here - their interpretation of gourmet is very far from mine. Or put another way; gourmet sandwich my derrière. Am I cynical to think serving cheap factory battered fish inside a sandwich would hide how poor it is. This place self proclaims that it’s a bistro, which for me, conjures up fresh, made on the premises, good food. As the photos show the ‘haddock’ was industrially made. I can tell you it had far more batter than haddock and by a long way - they looked like large Mc Donald’s chicken nuggets on the plate. The chips though well-cooked are a factory product too. If they intend to stick with offering guests cheap factory processed fish then they should just buy cod fish fingers in a supermarket as at least with this product there’s 55% fish. When in the supermarket they could pick up Colman’s English mustard too. My main also included two slices of sourdough bread and a light lemon mayo both of which were excellent, the mushy peas were very good but when served they were cold (and shouldn’t have been) and the lightly dressed rocket had wilted as the plate was hot. When I asked for English mustard they didn’t have the worlds greatest mustard - once again I felt like screaming ‘you can’t be serious’. My wife had a variation of a chicken burger which she enjoyed - some coleslaw on the plate would have made it better - but £8 for a chicken burger and chips ain’t a bargain. The flat white and cappuccino coffees were excellent. On balance I wouldn’t rush back - 2 stars.

Firstly the bar area is immaculate. The toilets are the cleanest I've seen in Newry. Called in for a drink only but the staff were very friendly and didn't make a fuss with our assistance dog. Seems to be a really great venue for food and drink.

Traditional cafe, lovely lemon meringue with cream, also bought some locally made honey and potatoes from their own farm. Really friendly quality service too. If visiting Silent Valley don’t overlook calling in.
