Popped to town, wanted to support the theatre, choice was limited. I’m coeliac and oddly enough so was the woman being served in front of me. She was asking if there were any gluten free options and was pointed in the direction of vegan food. Staff clearly had no idea what coeliac or even gluten free meant and saw the poor woman as a difficult or awkward customer, even both servers rolling their eyes at me while waiting for her to work out what she could eat, which as she discovered was only a packet of plain crisps. I then went to the Herbert Art Gallery cafe where they had a good choice of gluten free options (it’s not difficult to buy gluten free bread in to offer customers). Really disappointed with the Belgrade and the staff. But recommend the Herbert!

Visited today, having walked past the week before thought it would be worth a visit, how wrong. We sat at a table only to be ignored by the staff (and we were not the only ones). Staff didn't seem to want to make eye contact. We thought it might be counter service so my wife approached the counter where she stood for quite some time. Eventually a waitress ushered her back to the table and we ordered two coffees. After a long wait we heard a crash and some giggling, the waitress had dropped one of our coffees. The staff thought this was extremely amusing judging by the laughter. We then decided to leave. Theatres are struggling with Covid restrictions and this being Coventry city of culture year we thought it would be good to support The Belgrade Theatre, what we found was incompetent and unmotivated staff who see customers as an inconvenience. Whoever is managing the staff should be replaced by someone professional. The City of Culture is being let down by The Belgrade Theatre.

Visited a couple of days after opening again. Service is swift and friendly. The inside looks good and although the outside area is quite nice it's a shame they are not using the same area as they were last year. It is much sunnier and has a nicer atmosphere in the plaza.

Used to use here regularly for a quick lunch whilst shopping and it was always really good but just recently the standard of service has gone downhill not sure if management has changed but inwont waste my money in future. Called in for quick lunch nothing fancy just a couple of coffees and paninis. 30 min later coffees drank but no paninis went to enquire, seems our order was lost, still waited another 15 mins after that. Went back to get a refund as we needed to go but food was now on its way, a half hearted apology given by the staff. No offer of another drink. We were not the only ones a lady went to enquire where her lunch was to be told it had been given to someone else by mistake!! Find another cafe unless you have all the time in the world.

We popped into the kitchen prior to going to the theatre and it was a good hour before the performance started. Well all the tables were dirty, the floor had debris on it although there were plenty of staff. The service was slow and their tills had broken down so they only accepted cash [no signs stating this] and it was only when you got to pay that they told you. The food well, the chicken curry I have tasted better cardboard and whilst my wife's panini was good [a redeeming feature] the rest was poor. Sorry we have eaten here before and it has been OK.

I was unable to get hold of the restaurant, but fortunately working in Coventry I was able to call in and book a table. Glad I did. Whilst the restaurant was very quiet, it meant great service for us having a fabulous meal. The waitress was really helpful, my wife's starter was like a meal in itself & the main fish course was superb. Excellent value for money, 2 courses for 2 people, a round of drinks with the meal & an after dinner cocktail for £35. Will definitely go back on another theatre night out & would highly recommend. Just hope it stays open.

We visited the theatre earlier this year in March and made a booking over the telephone to the answering machine as instructed by the voicemail message, however when we arrived at the restaurant that evening we learned that the booking message we left hadn't been listened to and that there were problems in the kitchen and that we wouldn't be able to eat there. Based on this we were offered dinner for free on our next visit to The Belgrade Kitchen, and made use of this on a recent trip to see The Mousetrap. While the restaurant is unfortunately lacking a bit with regard to atmosphere, the pie and mash was delicious, fish and chips great too and the service couldn't be faulted. The menu also has offers for 2 and 3 courses which makes for great value. Belgrade Kitchen is an ideal stop if you're visiting the theatre for the evening, but double check your bookings.

This is a new restaurant - the B4 Grill having now closed. We were fortunate enough to be going to the theatre when the trial run of the Belgrade Kitchen took place back in July (I think). We had a very pleasant meal then, so we were looking forward to going again when it opened fully. I have to say that the experience this time was nowhere near as good. It's a shame because the idea is good, and the potential is there. I really wanted this to work. However there needs to be more thought put into the preparation of the food, the training of the staff and the number of staff. It seemed to me that the operation was being run on a shoestring, and it showed in the service and the food. I can only hope that things will get better as it settles down and the management put some extra resource into it. Specific gripes: the mushy peas with my fish and chips were cold and not 'proper' (note to the kitchen, check online, Jamie Oliver has a good recipe), and my eton mess was warm ( the result of defrosting I suspect). We may go back, but only after a while to see if it has improved.

Coffee shop/cafe review Awful experience Big queues Took ages for our sandwiches to be heated up, utter chaos with no respect for allergies. Staff didn’t have a clue what they were handing out and then were stroppy when we asked!! It doesn’t take much to add a bit of organisation in here
