Quite honestly the best cafe in Liverpool! I’ve been coming here for years and never been let down. Food and drink is amazing and fairly priced and the owners are truly lovely people. Not too far from the city centre if you’re just visiting but also great for students looking for a quiet and relaxed place to work for a few hours :)

This was nice to find a local non-chain place with nice food and coffee - a mix of Kurdish and British options. The staff didn’t seem pleased to see anyone and didn’t say much though. The atmosphere was fine. Although the disco-flashing security cameras were a bit bright for early in the morning.

After a long journey and a bus on diversion I needed to chill but was refused to be served, the staff lady, quickly put a reversed lable on the table that was free. I had two toddlers and got shouted at for getting a child seat so I can manage my child while ordering. A customer seated came to order, and the staff lady apologised to the customer for being busy while looking at me briefly. I eventually ordered a hot drink and a bakery, which was placed in a take away cup, giving the impression that I should get out. I asked to use the bathroom and was told it’s locked so I waited as someone else also needed to use the bathroom. While the hot drink was made she eventually agreed to let me use the toilet to which she exclaimed I don’t want mess! I thanked the lady with a smile after leaving but the whole time had her head down very cold. I could not enjoy what I ordered. Overall the cafe is clean but service deserves a 0 star. If you are visiting Liverpool and fancy some porridge for breakfast, then you absolutely have to go to Bekas Café, on London road. I have to come to Liverpool to visit my mum every few weeks, so I like to try different cafes for breakfast, and porridge is my favourite in the morning. Now I can whole heartedly say that the porridge with frozen fruits and honey is the best I have ever been presented with in any cafe I have visited. It looks so pretty , and tastes amazing. And it's great value for money. After seeing people eating the vegetarian Kurdish breakfast, I wish my appetite was bigger, as it too, looks amazing. All round, Bekas Café is a fabulous place to eat excellent food, and the staff are wonderful.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

As a volunteer at a local charity just off London Road, I often find myself exploring the nearby eateries for a quick bite after work. Recently, I stumbled upon Bekas Café, the first Kurdish café in Liverpool, and I must say, it was an extraordinary experience that I am eager to share. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with a warm welcome, likely from the owners themselves, a charming husband and wife duo. The café was spotlessly clean, exuding an inviting and cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. My friend and I decided to indulge in their triangle slices of pistachio baklava with ice cream, and it was nothing short of divine. The baklava was perfectly crisp, generously filled with pistachios, and complemented beautifully by the creamy, rich ice cream. It was a taste of heaven that left us both in awe and eager for more. What truly set Bekas Café apart, however, was the kindness and genuine care shown by the owners. On the day we visited, there were unfortunate riots expected to happen in the area. The lovely owner approached us and the other patrons, reassuring us that we would be safe and welcome to stay as long as needed if the situation outside escalated. This thoughtful gesture touched our hearts deeply, and we felt an immense sense of gratitude for their concern and hospitality. Our visit to Bekas Café was not just about the incredible food but also about the warmth and generosity of the people running it. We left with full stomachs and full hearts, promising to return often and spread the word about this beautiful café. For anyone in Liverpool or passing through, Bekas Café is a must-visit. Support this kind and precious business, and treat yourself to an unforgettable culinary experience. You won't regret it!

Hidden among the hustle and bustle of London Road sits a small, unassuming Kurdish cafe which far surpasses its equivalents on taste, quality, freshness, portion sizes, pricing and services. It’s the hidden gem (or perhaps a local legend?) of the area. I once brought a friend here who had been subsisting on a ‘student diet’ for months and for about a tenner they were able to get nourishing food, probably saving them from falling sick! Whenever I want to feel cared for and loved, I come here. If you have a child studying at one of the universities in the area, I would recommend urging them to come here once a week and order their Kurdish breakfast to catch up on their vitamins and minerals and whatnot. Like I am not joking. I do miss the halva they used to have in the breakfast and the bread is better the earlier you go but even after whatever has happened to the economy and with so many things closing down, or establishments cutting back on quality and quantity, Bekas cafe’s Kurdish breakfast still remains A++ I hope they never change!!

I never knew Liverpool had a Kurdish Café but am I glad I found it! We entered a kind and soothing world when we entered today and were allowed to take our time with the menu and atmosphere before we ordered. I decided to try the traditional Kurdish Breakfast while my partner opted for an omelette and chocolate Croissant. My one gripe was that we waited around 20ish minutes for the food to arrive but when it did, I soon knew why - it was all freshly made! The Croissant was fresh from the oven and so flaky! The bread was hot and ready too. I fell in LOVE with the Halal Fried Salami and the eggs were to die for! Having the Greek Yoghurt too reignited my passion for the tasty treat and while I am not a fan of Tahini, it tasted bold and exciting. With only a small walk from home, this place is a surefire must-go! Authentic food at a bargain price if you mind a wait for perfection. My partner rated it 15 million stars!

Sadly, a very disappointing and unbelievably bad experience today. I ordered two cheese & tomato toasties from the young chap serving. Having waited at least twenty minutes for toasties to go, I prompted the young chap to chase up our order and asking him how much longer we needed to wait. He responded 'one minute', and hurried to the kitchen to convey my message. TEN minutes later, and having now prompted him a few more times, a very rude older lady came out from the back kitchen, holding the two toasties. At this point we had already asked for a refund on multiple occasions, which they flatly refused. I couldn't beleive what was going on. They said our order hadn't taken more than ten minutes, so I demanded they looked at my order time on their fancy till (they didn't give me a receipt) but they simply refused to check the order time. I looked at the toasties they were now forcing me to take, and noticed one of them was burnt. I pointed this out to the now irate older lady. She then picked it uo with her left hand (glove was only on her right hand) and flipped it upside diwn and said 'is this burnt?' to which I answered 'yes its burnt in the middle'. She then became very hysterical and started screaming at me whlst tearing the burnt toastie with its greaseproof paper as if it were a sheet of A4 paper. After this, she stormed of back to the kitchen. The young chap followed her, along with an older chap (probably her husband), who remained silent throughout the ordeal. I was left standing in the middle of the cafe alone with one unwanted toastie (pictured). As waited for someone to come back out. The young chap came out and after consulting with someone in the back kitchen, told me that only a refund for the burnt (and now destroyed) toastie would be given. I took the partial cash refund and left, never to return again. It's very hard to understand how such a nice place can have such good reviews. It really beggars belief. That scornful old lady is a nasty piece of work and will be found out very soon. I seldom leave ONE STAR reviews, but this needed to be written. AVOID AVOID AVOID.

This place was right next to our accommodation. I opted for the Arabic breakfast. At £13, might be a bit pricey for breakfast, but was enough for 2 and a special treat. Everything was delicious, even the tomatoes were the best I've tasted in a long time. Vegetarian too. Well presented on a wooden tray. The Arabic bread was like triangles of crispbread. Had a chat with the server about the best way to make baklava - which was homemade and looked amazing, but we couldn't really justify getting any. And the nice lady at the next table told me that I should drink my Arabic coffee with the small sweet pastry in my mouth. Definitely made it better. A friendly and interesting place.

We visited on a August Bank hol Monday, early evening. That day, they only had an open buffet on. It does have a regular menu but I think it may just be open buffet for the period of Ramadan? I was chatting to the owner and he explained it was quiet during the day until most regulars turn up late. But when the restaurant is running before and after Ramadan, I'm not sure how busy it gets or what the regular menu is like! However, for our £8.99 set price each we had a fantastic meal. A drink is included (soft drink only, not sure if they allow BYO). There was a top lentil soup, then the chef explained the rest. Too much to list, but just classic, homemade middle eastern food. Tzatziki, hummus, salads, beans, and then for main there was an okra stew (fab), a plain but tasty rice, rice with beef and herbs, and chicken with rice. We made lots of visits back up to the buffet for more. One thing we'd have loved was bread, but we couldn't see any. However I think a party of four who came in later asked and got some naan type. For desert there was a typical tasty but calorific baklava type - ace. It's a bit ad hoc in there and it's a real local feel, help yourself, cling film on the plates of food - I can imagine some people more used to being nannied in Nando's would feel uncomfortable. But the place is great and I hope it gets local support (the decor and music are actually very classy by the way, it's not scruffy). Highly recommended, and would be good to know what the lunch time/a la carte experience is like.
