Eaten here a few times for lunch. Great service and everything is freshly made. Tapas and Mezes are really good! Moussaka lovely too! Came back last night with friends. Brilliant food again and great atmosphere!! Came back again and never disappointed! Chicken Spinach & Mousakka!!!

We had a full three course meal here for my son's 21st Birthday. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody . The food is excellent ,the staff attentive and the whole Greek family atmosphere is amazing . They made us feel very welcome and the restaurant sang a whole hearted Happy Birthday to my son and gave him free cake. It's not the first time we have been here and it certainly won't be the last !

The food was delicious, But they were serving chips with each dish and they were brown and not so tasty. Most definitely the oil used for frying was several days old. Probably vegetable oil used in most restaurants but is highly inflammatory for the human body. Sorry guys, I cannot give 5 *. I will come back. No chips though

Called in essentially to kill some time, and eat as a bonus. It turned out to be a lovely experience, with the best Kebabs we've had outside of Greece itself. Nice staff and atmosphere, again with great food.

Pre show meal before going to see Ricky Gervais. Would give 0 stars if I could, been here before and we enjoyed it so gutted to say that there was an insect in my partners salad that came with his starter. Barely apologetic and the response was ‘oh it’s because it’s salad’ we didn’t get any money taken off the bill either. My partner did not want to kick up a fuss and paid the bill whilst I went the toilet so I was absolutely fuming that the only compensation we received was a pudding between us. I just think it’s an absolute disgrace, so disappointed.

Delicious food and excellent service

Decided to eat here on New Years Day evening we booked a table for 7pm. On arrival the place was heaving and very busy but our table was there waiting for us. The waiting staff are young but friendly some more experienced than others but very helpful. We all chose just to have mains me having the Mixed Kebab and Ange having the stuffed vine leaves. As the want these days the standard question is any allegies and they were told cucumber as eating it gives my wife crippling tummy. The food came nicely presented and smelt great the young waiter presented my wifes to her and said vine leaves no cucumber and went to get the others. On his return we said was it right the vine leaves with no cucumber he said yes thats what we had ordered so why was there a cucumber bed that the sauce was sat on. He was mortified offered to take away and change her dish. We laughed and said no she just removed the cucumber. All food was large portions very tasty and good value. Recommend Yes and will we go back defo

Disgusting food hygiene and miserable staff. As it is an open kitchen I witnessed 2 members of kitchen staff wipe their nose with their hands and then continue to touch customer's food (no gloves and didn't wash). I told the server to cancel my food order as a result of this and there was no attempt to apologise or rectify the situation. Instead, he said that the food was already made in an attempt to guilt trip me into staying. Whilst waiting for the bill for my starter I further witnessed the meat chef licking food off his fingers before touching the meat on the skewers. Not one apology and not a word said to the kitchen staff. AVOID THIS PLACE!!

Came from Manchester for a gig at the O2 Academy and found this place quite by chance when googling so where to eat. So glad we did! Booked a table for 5pm, also glad we did as the placed was already completely full! Food was all fantastic spanaktopia were delicious - perfectly crispy pastry and the kebabs were wonderful. Really friendly service, would definitely go quite significantly out of my way to eat there again if I was in Liverpool again!

Popped in after some Xmas shopping. Found a table for us immediately even though it was busy. Had a calamari starter to share which was delicious. My wife had the creamy spinach chicken which again was really good, soft, moist chicken in a lovely sauce. I had the kleftiko done with lamb shoulder which fell off the bone it was so tender and a really generous portion, so much I couldn't quite finish it. Both were served with lovely rice, salad and tasty chips. Couple of cold Madrid beers and it was the perfect tonic after shopping before heading home. Easy recommendation.

Had a meal here a few days ago and the food was really good. I had salmon and others had meatballs and falafel. All enjoyed it. Staff were really friendly and service was great.

Tried the Moussaka and it had no taste. The soup and hummus was fine but not that great.

We opted for the calamari for starters. Crispy coating that melted it your mouth. Best we have tasted. Our mains we decided to have Lamb Kebab which was cooked to perfection and the sea bass. Two large fillets which were lovely. Will definately be visiting this restaurant again.

The musakka lacks a lot of salt. There is no flavor to it at all. Wouldn’t recommend nor return.

Ate on a Thursday night at around 6pm hadn't booked but they fitted us in - the food and service was excellent and the prices are what I would expect to pay in a city centre restaurant - will return next time we are in Liverpool - they must be doing something right because when we left the restaurant was full

I recently visited the Greek Tavern restaurant in Liverpool and, unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations. From the moment I walked in, the lack of friendliness in the service was evident. The employees showed little interest in providing welcoming and efficient service, which compromised the entire atmosphere of the restaurant. As for the food, I was disappointed with the lack of authenticity and depth of flavor in the dishes. Greek cuisine is known for its richness of fresh, robust flavors, but the dishes served at Greek Tavern did not reflect this. The ingredients seemed not to be fresh, and lacked the complexity of flavors typical of true Greek cuisine. Traditional dishes such as moussaka and souvlaki did not live up to expectations in terms of flavor and presentation. Furthermore, the prices did not justify the quality offered, which made the experience even more disappointing. The combination of the average quality of the dishes and the unsatisfactory service resulted in an overall experience that left a lot to be desired. In short, the Greek Tavern needs significant improvements in both customer service and the quality and authenticity of the food it offers, to truly represent the rich Greek culinary heritage. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Greek dining experience.

We decided to try and get a table at 7pm on a Tuesday, luckily they had space and the lovely helpful Ella showed us a two course deal they did. As it had the choices we had liked anyway we went for that . £17.95 for starter and main course. The service was excellent, staff were relaxed, efficient but funny too. The starters were all excellent and fabulous size . My Greek salad was so fresh and crunchy. My friends prawn cocktail was massive and the veggie meze scrummy. The mains all came with rice and chips. I had moussaka it was excellent, the others all had spinach chicken which was 3 massive chicken breast round shapes in creamy spinach sauce. Wine was reasonable and the staff kept checking if we needed anything. I would highly recommend this restaurant. A great night all round. We will be back when in Liverpool!

I recommend going for lunch or dinner. It is a charming place and very well decorated. The quality of the food is very good. The service is great and they are always careful to ensure that the diner is well served. I ordered the lamb shoulders for the main course and they were delicious. As a starter we ordered hummus and pita bread. It is a little expensive but I think the price is worth it.

Excellent service and delicious food

Food was great, we ordered king prawns and calamari to start. Then grilled lamb chops and creamy garlic chicken for our mains. Food was spot on and cooked to perfection. The only reason we aren’t giving it five stars all around was the cost. Pricey but nicey.

Such a shame we didn’t end up staying here for our evening meal. The food was lacking in choice for meat dishes and seemed to focus mainly on serving large portions of chips and rice with everything. We couldn’t find much on the menu that was meaty without all the fillers of bread and the above. Having lived in a small Greek village I think I have been spoiled with the real taverna food experience, as this seems to be more tourist focused than an authentic Greek food experience. Prices too high, I would recommend the real Greek restaurant which is more pricey but more like the real thing.

We absolutely love this restaurant, visiting every time we come to Liverpool. The food is delicious, the lamb kebab melts in your mouth and the restaurant itself is lovely , prices are quite reasonable and staff are friendly and polite. Can't recommend it enough.

Celebrated dad’s 75th birthday at Greek Taverna on bold street in Liverpool and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! The quality of the food was amazing, service fantastic (thank you to the team who made the occasion super special and looked after the 9 of us including two children.) and drinks were delicious. Overall I highly recommend dining here as the price for the quality of service and food is top class. Thank you for a memorable experience! We will be back soon!

We went to the Greek Taverna Bold Street Liverpool last night.We visited in September 2019 we enjoyed the Kleftico then & wanted to return. What a difference 5 years make. We ordered the Kleftico & couldn't wait to have it. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT WAS TO COME. On the menu there was no mention that it would be thick with tomato sauce on the outside it came with chips & rice. We told them we didn't want the rice but could we have more chips please. It came out it had no real vegetables it had been cooked with just raw carrots 3 small pieces & about 10 chips. Take it we didn't get the extra chips or are 5 chips normal. My Kleftico was very difficult to chew it was very tough. We won't be going back. I did complain about it & they did offer to give me something else but by then I had enough. They did charge full price even after my complaint. Will not be returning to The Greek Taverna Bold Street Liverpool.

Rushed, poor service and cold main meals. Disappointed ... will not be back. Only went because it had a high score on Google. Staff cleaning up with sprays right next to our table whilst we where eating....awful.

I called on the phone and the manager was very rude I couldn’t understand what he said as well and I wasn’t expecting that from a manager. When he asked for my name I answered him but when I tried to ask him about his name he refused to answer. Very very rude and unacceptable behaviour.

This is a very busy restaurant, some tables are a bit too close together, but I see they are trying to make use of all available space. Food is excellent and service very good and food comes out fast. Great value for money.

Yesterday we went for our sons birthday, and although we never mentioned to the restaurant that it was his birthday, they picked up on it and made a big fuss of him. Good overall, we asked for vegetarian gluten-free options and were presented with a specialised gluten-free menu. Impressive, but then all main courses were meat :-(. Asked a second time and said vegetarian gluten-free and received a Vegan Menu with main courses including gluten. It's not a great start when you consider food intolerances have huge effects on people's lives. After a poor start, the food was outstanding. Dips came with gluten-free pittas, which was fantastic, and chips were cooked separately for my GF friend. I had the chicken souvla, which was fabulous. Would recommend and return.

Everytime we come to Liverpool, we always make sure we come and eat at the Greek Taverna in Bold Street. The portion size of the food is always on the large size and the food is always fresh and tasty. Service is tip top too.

As a Greek, I'll say that it's not even close to the taste and quality of Greek cuisine! From the salad to the kebab! Also, the staff is not friendly! They don't have an idea of Greek hospitality!
