Bedales at Spitalfields in Tower Hamlets

Henna and her team were all superb sommelier’s. They were able to find us the perfect wine with our explanation of the type of wine we enjoy. They were right with their first suggestion! As soon as you walk in there’s an air of friendliness - smiley faces and filled with knowledge - can’t wait to have our next date night here! I can’t recommends Bedales Spitalfields enough - whether it’s for a date night, a night out with the girls or picking the perfect bottle for a night in - we’ll see you soon!

Four of us had an amazing private bespoke wine tasting with wines specially selected for us. Our sommelier, Henna, was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable and fun. We had a printed menu to explain the wines and accompanying cheeses and charcuterie. We all learnt a great deal - along with enjoying some excellent wines. A great way to spend an evening. We can thoroughly recommend this experience.

So we had 4 glasses of Syrah and that cost us £48. Which was the same as a bottle. We should have thought that one through lol. Anyway, nice venue, warm woods and friendly vibe, can get a bit loud with rowdy groups and know that there isn’t a lot of space here. Good place to take a break from the market though.

Went here for a drink during a visit to Spitalfields. Excellent wine selections and friendly and helpful staff. Never had Orange wine before and the explanations from the waitress were very helpful.

I went there on a Friday to meet up with old friends and fortunately arrived early as by 1:15pm it was full to capacity. It is a lovely city wine bar tucked away lower ground in Leadenhall Market. We had a large mixed plate of various sandwiches and chips which were delicious, plus sparkling mineral water and soft drinks, (a very pleasant virgin mary was glorious). It is quite a noisy place but a great wine bar to catch up with old friends of have a business lunch.

Wine was very good, don't go here if you think you might need the loo waited 40 minutes for the key!!

I booked wine tasting 'Hidden gems' as a birthday present for my best friend, specifying what kind of wine we usually like (we've been to wine tastings before so we have an idea about what we liked but also wanted to try something new). The Bedales team did not disappoint - all 6 wines we tasted were absolutely great! We were very happy with the selection, and enjoyed talking to the lovely Angelo with his colleague taking us through the wines & the stories behind them. The atmosphere was also nice and relaxing. The only thing that could have been better was the food, I was expecting a bit more for the £100 (for two) of tasting experience, especially having been to other places such as Veeno previously (where you get a massive plate of food for tow for less money). So maybe worth having a light dinner before the experience if you are hungry (we were! :-), or be ready to order more doos at the place. Otherwise - a very enjoyable experience, thanks very much Bedales team!

Great wines and very friendly (and helpful) staff. Really relaxed and pleasant experience that we will look forward to repeating.

We went here for pre-dinner drinks and had a lovely time. The staff helped us choose the wine and we had a couple of lovely glasses of red. Would definitely visit again!

Walked in to a quaint relaxed and calm mood lit room. There were loads of twinkly fairy lights which added to the relaxed and special atmosphere. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly and the selection of wines and meat/cheese was perfect for a date. For a Thursday evening we were happy that it wasn’t too hectic and busy but even though there were a lot of people, it didn’t feel like that - which was an extra bonus! Defo recommend and will be back soon!

Visited last night for wine tasting hosted by Ali and had an amazing time. I have done wine tasting before but did not have the experience we had at Bedales; Ali had so much knowledge on the wines, the selection was great and so was the atmosphere. I would highly recommend this, a great experience with lots and lots of great wine.

This was a birthday gift from friends who had enjoyed this experience for themselves so much they thought we would too, and they were right! Our expert and host (Ali) was not only exceptionally knowledgeable but relayed the information in a manner us amateurs could understand and appreciate. Five very different wines accompanied by cheese and charcuterie, all very tasty. We would highly recommend this experience for all wine lovers, whatever level of knowledge you may have.

Se sentó en el área exterior frente a la entrada y el ambiente era pacífico, no era ruidoso, era fácil conversar y, a pesar de estar al lado de la puerta, las personas que salían o entraban no nos molestaban. El personal fue respetuoso, atento, dio excelentes descripciones de los vinos y pudo ofrecer alternativas similares a los vinos que solicité que no estaban disponibles.

My husband and I went to Bedales Spitalfields yesterday for a private tasting. The wines were delicious and unusual. Ali was incredibly knowledgable and we both came away having learnt a lot. The antipasti platter was also yummy and went really well with the wines. Thank you Bedales and to Mimi for organising!

We received a private tasting as an anniversary gift. Angelo was great! We tried some wines we were familiar with and some that we new to us, but all were really interesting and very good. Angelo really knows his stuff! We also got some lovely cheese and charcuterie to have with the wine. We really enjoyed the evening.

What a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Absolutely amazing selection of wine and friendly, knowledgable staff. Would highly recommend and will return.

Bedales está muy bien ubicado y muy bien diseñado. Tuve la suerte de tener tiempo para pasar la tarde al sol allí ayer con buenos amigos.

Found this little gem of a wine bar whilst wandering around Spitalfields. We had a bite to eat which was lovely. The staff were excellent, really friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the extensive wine they had on offer. Would definitely recommend a visit. We will be back.

Lovely quirky place with very friendly staff. I have been to a couple of the bigger restaurants in Spits and I have to say, the service was outstanding. Me and my colleagues had food, a good laugh and made some new friends too. We all left and said we would defiantly be back and we defiantly will....very soon. Thanks xxx

Un amigo y yo metimos en un café para salir de la fría, pero cambió rápidamente nuestras mentes y probamos un par de vinos increíbles que Bedales tiene para ofrecer! Nuestro camarero era muy eficiente y profesional y nos hizo sentir muy cómodos y cuidados (no recuerdo su nombre, lo siento! ). El restaurante tenía un ambiente cosmopolita - sin el cursilerías a menudo encuentras en Londres. Cálido y relajado y nos sentimos hemos mejorado nuestro conocimiento vino durante nuestra visita. Nos encantó y sin duda alguna volveremos cuando volvamos a visitar la ciudad! Gracias al equipo en Bedales!

Llamado en la oportunidad aquí en mientras en un fin de semana con mi novia. Bien, qué encantador y acogedor pequeño lugar. El personal era increíble y nos preguntó sobre nuestra estancia de fin de semana y recomendar lugares para visitar. Nos alojamos por la comida y una botella de vino y no queríamos irnos. I booked a table for a Friday night in advance because I know it can get busy here and so happy to be seated with my friends in the inside section! The bar is so cosy with fairy lights and candles and the staff are really welcoming and happy to chat about the wines and food. We got a bottle from the shelves with help from the specialist and we had a selection of small plates in an offer on their menu, the food portions were perfect for four of us to share with great value and great choices. Would highly recommend this place, it’s perfect for a first date or drinks with friends.

Gorgeous wine bar with a cosy atmosphere! We weren’t sure what to go for so entrusted the server with the decision, she chose two delicious glasses - - an Argentinian red and a lovely Prosecco. This place is perfect for any occasion, there was a big mixture of people in there from large groups of friends to couples. We will definitely be back!

Después fui a trabajar con un Bedales colega, yo no sabía sobre el lugar, a pesar de trabajar bastante cerca, compartimos una botella de Prosecco y tuvimos una agradable charla, el ambiente en el bar es agradable y el personal es muy amable, el lugar no es muy grande y no hay muchas mesas. Ofrecen música en vivo los lunes y también la venta de vinos. Disfruté de mi experiencia en el bar.

Situado en la parte central de Spitalfields market, Bedales es fácil perderse. Si no fuera por algunas mesas y sillas fuera, usted sería perdonado para caminar justo por este bar de vinos. Sin embargo, a pesar de muchos otros sitios donde comer y beber en la zona todavía logra conseguir un montón de visitantes regulares.

Bedales es uno de ellos, "no tan escondidas joyas" dentro del ajetreo y el bullicio de Spitalfields. Me encontré al azar Bedales casi hace 3 años ahora, y con su encanto y acogedor y el personal capacitado, se ha convertido en uno de mis lugares favoritos en Londres.

He visitado un par de veces después de trabajar; es un buen lugar para conseguir algo de comida decente con vino. Muy amplia variedad de vino en botellas (como también es una licencia), además de pan, queso, jamón y rillettes (incluso algunos en la batatas, etc. última visita). Más estrecha variedad de vinos por copas, además de una buena selección de cervezas últimamente. El personal siempre atento y parece hay un buen ambiente por la noche (un montón de luces de colores y velas) y una terraza semi-abierto fuera para el verano.

I visited this place a few months ago and it was ok. Earlier the same day I went to Bedales in Borough Market and really enjoyed the armosphere, food and wine so decided to have the same here on the way back to my hotel. I sat down and after 15 minutes decided to go and asked if I needed to order at the bar. The person behind the bar said someone would be over in a minute. I sat down and after a further 10 minutes I finally got a menu and ordered a glass of wine. I got my wine and said I was still deciding on what to order for food. A further 20 minutes passed and no one had come over to enquire if I wanted any food. If it was busy I could of understood, plus a couple of staff were milling around clearing tables etc so no excuse. I had drunk my wine so decided to pay and leave.I got the impression that the staff didn't really care about serving their customers or interested in the work they did. Maybe switching a key colleague from Borough Market to show them how to give good customer service would be an advantage?!

Shopping at Spitalfields and wanted to stop for lunch Happened on this fetching little wine shop which served lunches. We chose to share a cheese and charcuterie platter which was excellent and a glass of fizz. For 2 came to just under £40.So much more pleasant than some of the surrounding eateries. Would recommend.

I popped in for a glass on the way to lunch elsewhere. It was so nice to have been given really good advice, offered several tastings and settled for a fantastic Rabi Kamptal Langenois GV 2015, so good in fact I bought a couple of bottles and took them home later!The visit was made extra special by the warmth of two of the Staff, Maria and Olivia, they were knowledgeable and friendly. Really recommend this place for a pit stop on the way to meet friends, or a tapas.....the ham looked wonderful.

Walked over after walking home from dinner as I heard some live music. Amazed to be served by a French waitress in a wine bar what didn't have and French red available by the glass! That's said my glass was very good and I guess £9.65 was reasonable given the wine and the live entertainment. Would return.

Red wine is not kept in cold area and served as is. When we pointed this out our hostess said "I know". Very disappointed, this being a wine bar

Had a pleasant brunch at this place the other weekend. Some decent snacking options and an eclectic selection of wines to match and takeaway. A pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by.

We had a very enjoyable evening wine tasting here. We had an excellent teacher, who lead us through six different types wine. His knowledge was top notch. There was nibbles to accompany the wine.

Great wines for good value for money for center London. Good Italians waiters'advises. Amazing Negroamaro from Puglie !!!

Nice Italian, French and Manchester staff, good atmosphere, can sit inside or out front and the Nero Amarone is delicious.

Really difficult to rate please bear in mind this is a lunchtime review - great location, really cool place but far too expensive - this might be why we were only 2 of a handful of people in there. £5 for salted peanuts and almonds is excessive (really small bowl not even enough to share)! The Iberico ham was like eating leather!! I'm sure it's not that tough and chewy in Spain!! Wine and processco very good though however could do with a more affordable choice. We paid £6 for a glass of processco that's ok but they are offering £3.50 for a take away - does that come in a cardboard coffee cup? Would definitely go there more often if the lunchtime food and wine were more affordable. Staff were alright but not overly attentive despite not having much to do and we had empty glasses for a while we had to ask for further drinks. It sounds like I'm cheap but really the portion size of the nibbles (which is really all you want with a nice glass of wine) did not warrant the cost.

An interesting look and great for lunch. A good wine selection. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had a couple of glasses of De La Force Douro £7.95 each. We had three small plates Smiked Salmon Crostini £5 Jamon Iberico£8 and Burrata £8. A very pleasant experience.

Super choix de vin, vraiment varié et originaux. Les appetizers sont vraiment bons, peut-être un peu cher mais c'est un endroit où vous pourrez prendre un apéritif vraiment original. Un bon bar à vin, ce qui est assez rare de nos jours.Nous y retournons assez souvent à chaque fois que nous nous déplaçons à Londres.Le quartier est sympa, l'ambiance festive, bref : à tester !!!

Unpretentious, but maybe too so. Not much in the way of choice on the menu given that there are a few competitors nearby! We had a vin d'orange - cannot fault it, cost was £11 for two, which is also standard for this area. The staff did not appear to be knowledgeable on wines - I was told there was a promo on Portuguese wine; I asked whether they had a Verdelho and received a blank look!!

Wine was iffy, asked the waitress about it but didn't get much out of her.....only that it's not to everyone's taste. Not very helpful. Ordered pork sticks. Turned out to be pepperami! Wasn't impressed. Menu says it has 400+ lines of wine but the menu is very small and unexciting. Quite empty for a Saturday afternoon. Should have realised!

This is a cute place to have a mulled wine and a break from the people in Brick Lane and the madness of Christmas shopping. It is cute and small. But the service could really be better. The girl who served us didn't really seem to like her job all that much - which was a shame! Could be better but nice for a quick drink.

A couple of friends and I popped in after a long day at a conference. The location and interiour were nice, and the staff were welcoming.The prices were quite steep, though, even for a Norwegian.

Popped in her for lunch with my wife to take opportunity of their £8.95 baguette and glass of wine lunchtime special. We both picked the ham and cheese baguette (received a chorizo & mozzarella baguette) and was then shown the wine list to pick our glasses of wine. The bill was £31.90 because we picked a wine that wasn't on their "lunchtime list". There are plenty of other eateries in the area that serve a nicer sarnie (hot if you like), a glass of plonk for less than £16 a head and have toilets on the premises. We won't be returning again.

Lunchtime glass of wine with cheese or meat so the two of us had one of each. Wine OK, cheese portion the size of a cheese triangle, the meat had changed into an ounce of pate with no explanation. We are pretty easy going but this was an experience never to be repeated..Total rip off, the staff couldn't give a monkeys, the place was as dead as a Dodo.

The menu is devoted to sharing and not individual meals. I have no problem with this but the portions are microscopic and very poor value for money. The beef bourginon at £9 being an example with enough beef to only fill an eggcup.Small bottles of beer at £4 each also represented poor value. We were seated in the basement with decor sadly wanting. Service was ok but the food and drink did not match this and we actually left feeling hungry.

This review is following a visit to the Spitalfields branch of this chain. I've been visiting Bedales for some time and have been somewhat of a regular. If you like to drink good wines it's the place to go in Spitalfields. However I won't be going back. On my last visit I ordered to accompany my wine a £25 (yes £25) mixed board of ham and cheese. On previous occasions this had been a lot cheaper but I assumed that portions had changed. They had. We got a board that was mainly bread. This wouldn't have been an issue if upon complaint the situation had been rectified however the story I got from all four staff members was there was nothing they could do about it. It was a management decision. No refund, no explanation, no offer of help, just indifference. It's baffling that a customer service oriented business can survive by behaving in this manner. The following day I sent Bedales a complaint by email and got no response. I have better things to do than go to places that don't care about their customers and judging by some of the other reviews this is not an isolated incident.
