Sat outside in the sun. Nice terrace looking out onto the street. The carrot cake was utterly delicious, moist, plump raisins and sultanas, large grated carrot slivers. Just Devine. This will be our new coffee stop en-route to the south west. Ginger cake was also excellent. Lovely service by friendly staff. 💯

We must have caught the 2 waitresses on a bad day because our party of 4 found them both to be unapproachable and offhand. Neither of them managed to crack a smile in the 2 hrs that we were there. Doubt we'll be back.

Stumbled upon this place having never been to Tisbury before. Having had a stressful time and a bit of time before catching a train, we wanted a cup of tea. We loved Beatons. Loved having loose leaf tea, loved the chai latte. Loved the little saucer over the cup. Really loved the white chocolate and cranberry cake which was undoubtedly home made (tasted like it was baked in the last 24 hours). Service was a little slow, but we didn’t mind. Will be returning and taking others with me!

This is the perfect place to start your day! The light and elegant room with the books and the flowers invites you to relax. A large selection of fine teas and coffees as well as an array of delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches make your day. Every time we popped in during our holiday the service was excellent. Harry and Mia are very attentive and are more than happy to respond to a request or to give some travelling advice. You could sit there, sip your drinks and spend as much time as you like in this cozy atmosphere.

Whilst a 3 rating is perhaps a little low, I couldn't quite go to a 4 for reasons I'll explain. I'll start with the positives and that is the food was very nice, as was the coffee and I would recommend on this basis. Service was unfortunately disjointed. It took over half an hour to order, 45 mins to get a drink. Sitting outside we felt forgotten. After waiting we went in search of a menu and as we wanted lunch were advised that we had to wait until midday. Fine for us but being 11.55 we couldn't have a menu to be looking at and were told to come back. On going back we were given a brunch menu instead and had to go back again. I'll end on a positive and say once we got to order service the food arrived within 15 mins.

We visited Beatons with our 1 year old. No high chairs at all, but a booster seat which clips on to an adult chair. As the lady brought it to us, she warned us to be careful not to swing as the chair could tip. As our baby is 1, we know she can't swing on a chair so this seemed ok. Unfortunately during our visit the chair tipped over backwards with our baby in it and she hit her head on the hard floor. This is so dangerous and totally unacceptable. We had some other issues which were resolved fairly and happily, but this matter must be taken further; it's not enough to hand out a dangerous piece of equipment with a"be careful", it needs to be replaced with a fit for purpose highchair as a matter of urgency.

What a wonderful experience! We wanted to have a light lunch on our way home and Googled "tearooms". Beatons came up and it was well worth the visit. On our way to it we passed through the most beautiful villages and Tisbury didn't disappoint either. The staff were welcoming and attentive - although not overly so - and the service was very quick. My jacket potato was baked to perfection and the Coronation chicken sandwich my husband chose was lavishly filled. All in all a perfect end to our weekend away.

Having said that, the staff were very attentive after that. The tea was very good quality and tasty. The cakes were good (special mention to the carrot cake) but we were given a small portion from the older cake and the next person a slice twice the size from the new cake. On a not very busy Sunday we read the menu in the window, asked if we ordered at the counter, were given a menu told to take a seat and someone would take our order. This menu differed from the one displayed in the window. We sat outside, made our choice and waited........ We had noticed that about six tables inside were taken plus one outside where there were signs of drinks having been served. After several minutes we placed our order and waited......... Our drinks arrived, the strongest coffee (not that strong) but nicely presented and a flavoured Soda (without much flavour) with a long spoon in the glass? and waited........ Another 10 minutes or so the waitress brings drinks to an adjoining table when we ask where our sandwiches were, she replied 'we have run out of smoked salmon, I was going to come out and tell you'. We told her that was not acceptable and told her we would pay for the drinks and leave. We were told that the drinks would not be charged, for which we thanked her. As we finished the drinks the waitress returned with the sandwich they did have the ingredients for and asked if we wanted to share it, we declined but did notice it had been made on brown bread instead of the ordered white bread. On a quiet day this level of service is totally unacceptable, how long does it take to make a sandwich and why were we not told there was no smoked salmon immediately our order was passed to the kitchen? Amateurs playing at running a Tearoom as too many other reviews show.

Our experience would have been pleasant enough if we had been given fair portions of what we ordered. Instead, £13.90 for 2 drinks and 2 slices of exceptionally mean slices of cake. For £3.75, the slice of coffee cake should have been reasonably generous but it was just such a meanly cut slice and terribly small...probably about half the size of a normal slice. For £4, my carrot cake should not have been small, either. I might add that we originally went into Beetons to have scones but were told there were none left and when choosing the freshly squeezed orange juice (‘squeezed on the premises’), we were told this was unavailable as the machine had been cleaned for the day. We went there at 4.20 and closing time is 5pm. I was left feeling rather over charged.

We were visiting Tisbury while on holiday, looking for some lunch, and the first place we spotted on walking up from the car park was this lovely little café-cum-bookshop. The menu offered a wide choice of delicious-sounding items - we were quite spoiled for choice, but in the long run chose traditional sandwiches - very well filled and clearly freshly made, and served with a nicely dressed salad. We followed up with very good coffee and a sharing slice of great Victoria sandwich! Service was a bit slow, because it was a busy lunchtime, but we didn't mind especially as our server apologised charmingly for the delay when bringing our food. The toilet was quite an experience - it's not often that you get actual individual handtowels in a café loo, and the décor was amazing (as well as spotlessly clean). Altogether a very nice place.

Sunshine, blue skies, a crisp white tablecloth and napkins, pink, green and white china and a "reserved" sign for our afternoon tea treat. Beatons sits snugly at the end of the High Street, where you can either sit outside or by one of the windows and watch the folk of Tisbury go about their business. A choice of many teas is the first decision to make, then which sort of afternoon tea you would like. We opted for the three tier of four tiny quiches and salad, a range of exquisite tiny sandwiches - cucumber (of course!), smoked salmon, tuna mayonnaise, ham and chutney. The next tier saw four enormous homemade scones, a bowl of clotted cream and a bowl of jam. The next decision - cream before jam, jam before cream!?! Your choice. And all the while a never ending cup of refreshing tea. The top tier consisted of two slices of cake - carrot cake and strawberry cake. By this time, we were pretty full to the brim, so the cake was packed into a box and came home to reside in the fridge until another day. Our thanks go to Harry McGookin (Manager) and his team for making this such a delightful interlude and a real treat. Much appreciated everyone x

Beatons had a welcoming feel about it and it was warm and comfortable. The two members of staff were friendly. However the potato and leek soup was very thin watery and there was a long wait for a very dry jacket potato and cheese and toast. The cake selection was very good and coffee was also good. I feel the soup had been watered down as it was a late lunch and perhaps there had not been quite enough left for two decent bowls. Having had a cup of tea recently in a cafe where I was given a teabag in its unopened packet, this made quite a contrast. Loose-leaf tea had been put into a home-made teabag, placed into a pretty teapot, and an egg-timer provided to tell you when best to remove the teabag and pour the tea. It worked, as a delicious cup of tea was poured and enjoyed in a matching cup. The slice of cheese on toast to go with this was a bit mean on the cheese (see photo), but still tasty and came with a little salad, minus onions, as asked. Not cheap - our two snacks and drinks came to about £15, but a pleasant stop.

Better than the chain brands you see in the towns and cities. Good choice and different types of coffee and tea. Very smart with a sense of style. Books for sale as well. Food looks good although I only had time for a coffee. Plenty of parking away from the high street and it’s free. Worth using. Will use again.

We are regular visitors to Beatons, the staff are always nice and the ambience is pleasant. Tea, coffee and cakes are very nicely presented and of a high standard.

Two weeks ago myself and family visited this lovely tea room in Tisbury, Beatons, there was a good selection of cakes, sandwhiches light lunches and wide variety of both hot and cold drinks. Their hot chocolate was brilliant according to our grand children, 'real melted chocolate' Myself and daughter in law went for the carrot cake, we found it a little heavy for our taste, perhaps a smaller piece would have been better. can not fault the ambience, and the polite service we recieved. certainly will return.

The tea itself was great, the scones were ok, a bit crumbly and dry.

We had a lovely walk in this quaint village, and Beaton's tearooms looked like a nice cafe. We were not disappointed, the sandwiches were very good, and all the food was of good quality and fresh. We had some cakes as well, and they were very good. Would recommend this cafe!

Have been to Beatons a few times. For a coffee or lunch with family and friends. Every time the service is superb. Very courteous and professional. Food is always good and they have a fab range of Coffee and Teas. If you can, go for breakfast. The bacon and Cheddar bagel is the thing dreams are made of!

We visit fairly frequently. The wide selection of books on art and photography os a bonus, the choice of drinks and cakes is wide, and the service delightful.

This little cafe is right in the middle of Tisbury. In addition to the inside seating area it has 3 outside tables which is nice a good day. They have placed little blankets for the chillier days which is a nice, welcoming touch.

Having ate here before and had a good time I thought it would be good for a birthday meal for 4 on a Monday lunch time how disappointing it was. 2 Steak & Stiton pies ordered although very tasty lacked Stiton and was meant to be served with veg we had to ask for the veg which when it arrived after several minutes the excuse was we only have 2 microwaves not the excuse I wanted, the other 2 meals were fine, unfortunately we will not go back.

We visited on a Sunday for breakfast. Arriving a couple of minutes after 10am (opening time), we queued for a table and then again to order food. There were plenty of tables but appreciated it was busy - not all tables were full. We waited for 50 minutes for our food to arrive, although coffee arrived much earlier. This was prompted by us asking where our food was/checking the order had been made, to which we were told ‘we’d just have to wait because it was busy’. The food arrived 5 minutes later. The food was tasty and we’ve no complaints about the quality or price. But, something about the system here just doesn’t make sense, queuing at every point and then waiting another 50 minutes for scrambled eggs on toast and a bacon sandwich, doesn’t make sense. We arrived at 10 and didn’t leave until 12:15…. People had started arriving for lunch! Sadly, we’d not return. There are just other places nearby that are doing it better.

We booked a table for the opening party, the pub opened earlier in the week with new staff and owners.

The location of this establishment is strange because the shop/restaurant sits within what is essentially a business park in the middle of nowhere but it is not hard to find. The setting was ideal for a summer lunch with lots of variously covered areas to shelter from the sun or rain if it happens. Then you realise that all these covered areas are, in fact, the restaurant! I saw no evidence of indoor seating. The main seating area is fundamentally a plastic marquee attached to a shop unit and all the seats are picnic benches. They have an interesting menu, which changes regularly I understand, and it is obvious that this establishment is not trying be a full all ‘singing and dancing’ restaurant and they do make that clear. It uses locally sourced quality produce for Deli style light meals, specifically lunches, and also snacks. The people running it are personable, welcoming and efficient. We found them very helpful and attentive and the food was delicious. Overall, the food menu is a little overpriced I feel but not excessive. That said, a few dishes do seem “over the top’ for what they are. It is the shop where the prices are eyewatering expensive and I think they have gone too far. I can here them now saying that they are supporting local suppliers and that this comes at a cost but times are hard and I do truly believe they, or their suppliers, need to face reality as the pricing is far too high. We need to support businesses like this but they have to respond too! Did I enjoy my meal? Yes, fantastic, Would I go again? Yes, definitely! Would I encourage you to go? Yes definitely! I just warn you that your visit will be enjoyable but not cheap so be prepared.

Great evening! It did not disappoint! The black rock fillet steaks were amazing. The young waitresses were both lovely, always smiling & nothing was too much trouble for them. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and we all enjoyed the evening. We would highly recommend a visit here!
