Beanies is a family favourite of ours! They always have an extensive menu with specials added all the time. The food is prepared fresh and you always get plenty. During lockdown we have had a number of Sunday roasts and Afternoon Teas which have been superb! Beanies is also our 'go to' place for a full English breakfast! Would highly recommend!

Called in at lunchtime after walking from Shepley. Not particularly inviting, the cafe has a mix of functional plastic tables and chairs, alongside local paintings for sale. It was well set out to cope with the restrictions. Service was to the point but friendly at the same time. The food we had was delicious and excellent value - breakfast, cottage pie, sticky toffee pudding. I wouldn’t recommend going there before a walk!Definitely recommended and we will be calling again.

This was an unexpected gem-of-a-find when I was looking for somewhere for lunch for my young family.A super range of food; really tasty, and served by very friendly staff who made us feel really welcome.I liked the local artists' work on the walls, too. Although, this sat in contrast to the slightly 'canteeny' feel of the furnishings.

We normally opt for a hearty full English breakfast with a couple of slices of light hearted banter where we sit and reminisce of the preceding evenings shinanigans. The coffee is hot and fresh (just like my bants) and the food excellent. We returned to this cafe after a pleasant first visit. However, after this second visit I doubt if we will return. We had to wait half an hour for our cups of tea to arrive. I had to remind the waitrose to bring me a glass of water which I had asked for on ordering. Our food arrived eventually, mine was fine but my friend had ordered the shepherds pie which had very little potato on and was only luke warm.If the staff were happy in their work it didn't show as they all looked miserable. The kitchen area was untidy, I could see this because my seat was facing it.We were told by the staff in a neighbouring shop that the owner of the cafe was on holiday. Maybe when the owner comes back, she can tell her staff to smile a bit.

Good, tasty, food and just about enough of it. Nice coffee. It's a small unit inside a large mill building, so no natural light as far as I could see and a bit claustrophobic. Not an inspiring location but convenient if you're in the area and there are mill visitor toilets close by - handy as the only public loo in Denby Dale closed about 20 years ago on the basis that the building was structurally unsound (it's still there, boarded up - closure just a cost saving measure)! Atmosphere of Beanies is spoiled by over-loud so-called music from the portable player located in the eating area. Imagine it's there for the sake of the staff, who looked a bit bored!

I visited Beanies today with my parents & 3 year old daughter. I've heard so much about it but have never been? What have I been missing.... I have been to most top rated restaurants on tripadvisor in the Yorkshire & Greater Manchester area, I can honestly say that the food was absolutely beautiful, superb quality & a fraction of the cost from other restaurants. The service was fantastic & spotlessly clean with a very spacious area to eat your meal, not with too many tables crammed together making your dining experience one where you've no need to whisper to each other, to ensure the table close by cannot hear every word.I am a vegetarian so struggle to find unusual dishes, but at Beanies the menu is amazing for vegetarians & meat eaters alike.Everything is home made & the puddings are simply amazing...the best sticky toffee pudding I've ever eaten & I've eaten a lot of stick toffee puddings in my time!Faultless food & superb service..what more can you ask for? We popped into the cafe today around lunchtime for a cuppa and a light bite. It was rather cold in there and we didn't feel especially welcomed, not to the level as has been suggested in some of the reviews on here. Our drinks were delivered first and they were fine; our food orders arrived some time after - though there was, at that point, just one other table besides us and our order was relatively simple. 3 out of 4 parts of the food order arrived and as no one checked with us if that was everything / if we wanted anything else, we duly waited for the last part of the order to arrive. After a wait, we realised it must have been forgotten and so told one of the waiting staff, who rather than seeking to address matter, curtly told us we hadn't ordered it - her words were 'no you didn't order that' which seemed an unjustly abrupt response - a simple 'oh I'll look into that for you' would have been fine. We all remembered the missing item being ordered in the first place and so this really wasn't our fault, but we were made to feel like it was so. The missing item was then prepared and brought to the table but again, without any real service; there was no apology for the mix up and again we weren't asked if everything was ok with the rest of our order. The food itself was fine but the lack of friendly service left us feeling disappointed overall. I fully appreciate how challenging it is to work in this industry and do not expect over-the-top, lavish service - but it is worth checking with a table if everything has arrived promptly / as requested as a matter of course - in this instance, it would have resolved an issue for us before it even had chance to become one.

Although the Mill building is a little worse for wear, Beanies is well presented. Visiting my parents from New Zealand they suggested we come to Beanies for lunch, as they have become regulars. Kristy welcomed us with a smile, and made us feel very welcome. From my time there it is obvious that a family environment is encouraged, with regulars introduced and friendships formed. For the solo visitor, a newspaper or magazine is offered; if it's not busy Kirsty has been known to sit and chat or make introductions to other diners. For a small enterprise you would expect a limited menu, but that is not the case. Kirsty's love of food is reflected in the menu, and in their willingness to alter the menu to patrons tastes and even make things off the menu as ingredients allow. The food is plentiful and lovely, catering for vegetarians well (not just quiche, or soup), and they will willingly give you a doggie bag if you aren't able to finish your meal. There's no pressure to eat and run which is a nice change in today's society. If you want a special meal for an occasion she's happy to sit and plan a menu with you and cook the food of your choice, for your day.Definitely worth a visit.

I don't usually review places on trip advisor... in fact I never have before! But after reading quite a negative review just now about Beanies I felt the need to do so. I started going to Beanies almost 3 years ago with a group of friends, all of us had babies (under 6 months) and we made it a regular meeting place. Lunch was always lovely, Kirsty & co always catered for the babies any way they could, it was a friendly environment and we always felt welcome with 4-6 babies (which is not always the case in other places)! Now my little girl is almost 3 and we still go regularly, sometimes for lunch and sometimes for breakfast. There are occasions when we have had to wait maybe 10 minutes sometimes a little longer for the drinks we order when we first sit down. However, this is when we have ordered coffees which are made fresh with steamed milk etc. There is never a particularly long wait for food and it never disappoints when it arrives, the food is lovely, always good quality home-cooked food. With 3 years experience eating here I can honestly say that I've never been disappointed and always been made to feel really welcome, I think the business is a credit to Kirsty, Jaya and co! I would definitely recommend it :)

We called on spec at denby dale mills today, although local, and used to visit regularly, we have not been for quite sometime. We were going to go to the teapot cafe opposite, and to be honest wished we had. There were just 6 tables with customers. We ordered 2 coffees, 1 cappuccino and 1 filter coffee, 1 bacon sandwich and 1 sausage sandwich. The coffees came after 15 minutes, then we waited, and waited, after 1 hour and 10 minutes !!the sandwiches of a plain "cheap" bread teacake arrived, - 2 sausages cut in half on one and non descript bacon on the other. Bill £10.40!!! Never felt so dissapointed. Asked if everything ok and told no, we were not happy, our drinks were either finished or cold by time food arrived, and only response was "we were busy"- really?- 6 tables? Its not an excuse, just really disappointing and unfortunately we wont return. We were not the only ones, we heard other customers on tables at side and behind us moaning about the time waiting, it was actually 1.30pm by time we left, hardly "breakfast time" ! Felt totally ripped off with cost, quality and overall experience.

On arrival you walk through a unimpressive run down warehouse, no signs telling you where to go, I did ask one of the shopkeepers for information. It is very unwelcoming reminiscent of a school dining hall, the surroundings are terrible, but the smell of the food and the cakes on display looked very nice so we chose to stay. I would say about 3 tables being served and ourselves. Food eventually came after a long wait but as it is prepared from fresh you expect a wait but the food served was just average. I really have eaten better and for less money you could be sat in a lovely location. I definitely will not go back.I did feel the response to bad reviews is a little over the top, I do eat out every week and do l like to try new places. but not every place gets a review but when one has a 3rd ranking in all Huddersfield and in my opinion it does not deserve it then I am going to express my honest review. I will await my negative response and please do check out my other deserved reviews.

After seeing the comments on Trip Advisor about Beanies Bistro in Denby Dale we decided to give it a try. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and shown to a table and given a varied and very extensive menu. The food was excellant, home cooked with fresh ingredients and looked as good as it tasted, it was obvious that everything was of a high quality and the owner Kirsty made sure all her ingredients were sourced locally. We will now be committed Beanie visitors and will repeat this experience again and again,

We are regulars at Beanies, burrowed away in Springfield Mills, Denby Dale. We have always been served with delicious, fresh, home-cooked, reasonably priced food at every visit which is why we return. Staff are friendly and remember our family whenever we call.On this visit my husband had his usual, a steak ciabatta which he says never disappoints. I had a meatball and fresh tagliatelle special with garlic bread, it was delicious! Staff always cater for our 4 year old son. Highly recommend!

On 19th September, in need of food for a journey , we found Beanies on Google. It is situated in Springfield Mill , but there is no notice up to say Beanies is there! After wandering through the corridors we chance on it, I am glad we did. It was clean and the staff friendly. We both ordered full English breakfast with toast, When it was served the portions were generous and the toast enough to feed four!! But it was all delicious and my cappuccino coffee was the best I have tasted for a long time. The only thing would say is please sign it so it can be found by more people!

Lovely lovely place the food is that little unusual that makes it stand out from the crowd. The staff are friendly, and always willing to help you with the menu choices. The cafe is very clean and fresh, love that you can see into the kitchen. My personal opinion is tho beanies is too good for the mills it resides in, it's very down trodden with more closed than open shops(my opinion about the mills only) Always order the same dishes... Red chilli burger and pâté.... Must try the rest of the menu! Wish you,d sell the salad dressing! It's yum!

Once again another wonderful dining experience at Beanies, the Bistro that never fails to deliver. From the friendly greeting that awaits you as soon as you step inside, the relaxed ambiance created by Kirsty, Martin,Jaya and staff and of course most importantly the excellent diversity of freshly prepared dishes. It reminds me of the old American sitcom, Cheers.....Beanies...where everybody knows your name... because nothing is too much trouble and everyone is made to feel valued. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this delightful little hidden gem to anyone prepared to listen, and look forward to returning time and time again.

Regularly the highest rated eating establishment in Huddersfield, we thought we'd give it a try as we were passing and although pleasant enough in its own way, it's certainly not difficult to find similar quality and better value without going too far. This is not a restaurant, it's a cafe. Let's be absolutely clear. Portions are a little less than generous, prices are a bit top-side for cafe food and additional value wasn't added at the service stage, which was efficient but very slightly sniffy when we didn't order right away. The food was fresh and nicely cooked, but if the coleslaw and dips hadn't been served in ramekins, on the plate with the main dish, it would have been obvious how skinny the portions were. Three small pieces of chicken fillet, slightly more salad than you could call garnish, a dessert spoon each of coleslaw and tzatziki served with pitta bread cost just over six quid. The salad dressing was outstanding however.A bit of a mystery to us how Beanies manages to rate as highly as it does. On the day we went, it wasn't the service, the portions or the overall value - and certainly not the ambience. Probably a good place to meet for a sandwich and a coffee, but certainly not if you're starving. It's a cafe, it was was ok and that's about it.

My first visit for lunch with my elderly mum and we both loved this restaurant! Very fresh and clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Great choice of food but we settled for sandwiches which were freshly made and quite exceptional! Will be going back soon, especially as they will cater for my vegan daughter if I give a couple of day's notice. It is great to find a good restaurant where vegans and meat eaters can sit down and eat together!

Kirsty, Jaya and Rachel offer a great service and are always very welcoming. Every time I go the homemade food is always excellent and there is always a great variety of food to choose from. It seems as though the menu gets better every time I go. It's at the other side of town to where I live but I can't think of anywhere better to go for a bite to eat. I would definitely recommend it to everyone and am looking forward to the next time I go back. 10 out of 10 from me!

We've eaten at Beanies a few times now and popped in for a drink and a slice of cake on numerous occasions. The food is excellent, the cakes are excellent so is the coffee and tea. I've never had the same dish twice off the menu and I've never been disappointed with my choice.Kirsty and daughter always makes time for a chat with their customers, be it first timers or regulars, the young help are also friendly and chatty, a pleasant change with some waiting-on staff. I would (and do) whole heartedly recommend you go to Beanies. There are other cafes in the area. Don't bother going to them. Just remember BEANIES. Easy name to remember. BEANIES. Go, you will not be disappointing.

Five of us ate at Beanies this Sunday it was our first visit we were a little unsure what it was going to be like but we needn't have worried. We all had a different meal and every one was very impressed with their choice. The service was friendly and very helpful explaining the menus and suggesting alternatives. I can thoroughly recommend Beanies not just for the excellent food but the reasonable cost. We will defiantly be going again soon.

Hiding in an old mill with a variety of not very inspiring shops wouldn't be an obvious place to find an excellent eatery, but this place is a regular of ours.A small cosy bistro serving top quality, fresh food, with a number of healthy options, all cooked fresh to order.Service is great and the staff are happy to help with changes to the dishes and even sometime cooking off meals not on the menu when requested. The lasagne in particular is superb as our kids both have this every time we visit.

As soon as I walk in Kirsty will tell me what's on the menu that i can have and if I let her know in advance she will make gluten free quiche .My two daughters have a nut allergy and Kirsty is an expert on that so I know it is safe for us all the to eat there. The food is brilliant and we always feel welcome and service is always with a smile. Love it there.

My family and I have been frequently going to Beanies since it opened. We regularly have breakfast on a Saturday and try to go for lunch at least once a fortnight. We never order the same thing and it has always without exception been delicious, infact restaurant standard, not cafe. The family who run it are clearly dedicated to working hard and producing top notch food at affordable prices. The service is always professional and very friendly and the room itself is warm and inviting. We would recommend it to anyone.23.02.2013.

Popped in today for an early lunch with 4 month old, and delightful food and friendly comapny from Kirsty and co. Plenty of parking, never an issue and the food was up to the mark - as usual. With a lively child to contend with, I went for a homemade Brocolli and Stilton soup, which was exquisite and I know that Kirsty takes a lot of pride in her range of soups and like to try them just because they are so delicious. It's so nice to be able to taste the deep and well seasoned flavours in a soup that is just cooked to perfection - looking forward to widening my soup expereince when I next pop in.Being a little boring in my choice for main course - but due to the fact that love the dish so much - was chargrilled herb chickenn, served with sald, pitta bread and a selection of humous, taziki and coleslaw. MMM..mmmm - crikey just can't get enough of this dish and again a great one if you want a low fat option and Kirsty's homemade flair for everything ensures none of the food experience is tainted by any processed food finding its way onto the plate.Kirsty was so good she even did some baby handling so that I could finish my lunch and a fantastic atmosphere with character, honesty and simply the best food you will find for miles around - I guess that's why Beanies has such a loyal custom base of Beanie-ites - who just keep coming back for more. Fantastic

Visited here especially after reading the reviews on trip. The food was well cooked and presentation okay. I didn't remove my winter coat to eat due to the plastic chair being too cold to sit on without. Certainly won't be making a 20 mile round trip to visit again.

Whenever I am thinking about going out for breakfast or lunch, Beanies always springs to mind. It serves the most delicious home cooked food by Kirsty, and her family led team. They are always friendly and make the experience personal. If I have guests over, of any ages, I always take them to see Kirsty because I know her food and customer service is consistently good and that they will comment on how lovely the Bistro and the food is. In particular I love her salad dressing, steak ciabatta, herby lemon chicken and quiches. I cannot rate this place highly enough.

We love Beanies. Kirsty and her team always greet you with a warm welcome and it's lovely to just sit down and know that the food will be superb, the coffee perfect and the atmosphere relaxing. It was my husbands birthday last week, I reserved a table and to our delight the table had a lovely balloon, card and gifts which was really kind! The food is just right, the menu reflects all tastes and I would definately recommend the lasagne and fajitas. The ingredients are locally sourced and it's the perfect place to breakfast on a weekend with the children. Superb.

In response to Jamie F's contribution, we have to agree that this really is the best Lasagne in the world. We discovered Beanies shortly after it opened and we have NEVER had a poor, or even average, meal from there; the food is always delicious and satisfying. The soups are a meal in themselves, the regular favourites (lasagne, herby chicken, etc.) are of a consistently high standard and there always seems to be something new to keep you on your toes. I have never been a big vegetarian food fan, but when served meals like Sweet Potato & Chick Pea Tagine, I am quite happy to forego the meat.Kirsty, Martin and Jaya are clearly dedicated to excellent customer service and this is reflected in their food. I mentioned a little while ago that I was losing weight, the next time I visited there was an "almost fat-free" option; again delicious. This is good honest food from good honest people. I can't recommend Beanies highly enough for a tasty, hearty lunch.

Visited Beanies this afternoon having heard positive reviews. The menu was full of tempting home made items- all reasonably priced. The decor was modern and sleek.Service was pleasant and quick. The only slight criticism I would make is that a slight lack of ventilation meant that there was a bit of a cooking odour smell around the seating area- with it being an old mill updates of extraction units must be hard. Overall lovely - will be back soon
