Found this cafe by chance. Quirky interior.,Super friendly staff. Good choice of food. I chose a really tasty fish finger sandwich, the bread was fresh and thickly cut. My friend chose the avocado with hummus on sour dough bread, which she said was delicious. We sat inside but the tables and chairs on the green looked inviting as well. We will definitely be back soon.

We have been to this cafe several times and we're always impressed with food and service. However, today we were left disappointed. My wife's lunch was tasty even though it arrived 5 minutes after mine. I ordered poached eggs with mushrooms and bacon, but both eggs were hard, and not runny at all. When asked if everything was OK, I mentioned it to the waitress who said she was very surprised ' and her ' mother always cooks poached eggs properly '. It made me feel as if I was making it up, and I found her manner unfriendly. We won't be going back. A shame

Vegan stack 😋😋😋 Unfortunately ran out of time to eat in. Not too much trouble for them to pop it into a box to take away. It really was delicious Staff friendly despite being rushed off their feet 😁

Passing by, feeling hungry.... Had some individually made rolls/sandwiches. Good choice of fillings. Shared a piece of cake and bought another to take away. Homemade. Particularly liked the bread-n-butter pudding type cake. Really friendly staff. Get the impression it is a bit of a community hub as well.

A great little place that I didn't know existed until a friend took me. Seating inside and out. A good display of cakes though some looked quite well baked. I found the server very unfriendly and sullen, though seemingly not with regulars. I wouldn't rush to revisit.

I was wondering where I would find a decent coffee on this visit to Dorchester. having suffered the horrors of Costa and to a lesser extent Coffee 1, I was hoping, wildly optimistically, for a nice independent cafe serving great coffee. We took a wrong turn and there we were passing the Bean on the Green. I thought we had gone back in time. It looked so quaint as if from an earlier era. Bunting fluttered in the breeze as refreshments were ferried from the cafe, which looked like a converted corner house, across the road to the green where customers were seated on several tables and chairs. Adding to the illusion of old-world charm was a lovely white and grey cat with yellow amber eyes which freely seemed to frequent the premises. I must admit the cat sold the place to me because I was wondering what sort of coffee would they serve up. Anyway, I asked my usual question about Macchiato, which often sorts out the wheat from the chaff, when it comes to identifying someone who really knows their coffee. The reply showed that these people seemed to be speaking my language. The macchiato was strong espresso coffee with a dab of milk foam - exactly as I liked it! And it tasted as good as they described it. It was accompanied by a nice Portuguese custard tart( Pastéis de Nata). It was just a flying visit but the food served here looks good and the cooking aromas were inviting and prices don't seem too expensive. So looking forward to the next visit

My first visit to the Bean on the Green today but definitely won’t be my last. What a great place! The service was first class and the coffee certainly lived up to my expectations. Had a lovely homemade vegetable tart and salad which was superb. Too full for a piece of cake but bought some to take home and that was equally good. Would highly recommend a visit and will definitely return again soon!

Lovely cafe a stones throw from where we live. Coffee and cakes for Patrick’s birthday and we sat on the green in the sunshine listening to the birds singing. Great service, delicious apricot and marzipan cake and they have been kind enough to display our missing cat poster since February too! We will make more regular visits in the future.

Some of my friends rate this cafe very highly. I don't. Only ordered soup and waited forever without a word of acknowledgement. Staff seemed to think it was out of order even to suggest it had been a long time coming. When it arrived, it was not hot. Nor was it really hot when they reheated it at my request. Pity, because soup was nice. No serviette with cutlery. felt I was just in the way there.

Met up with cousins for afternoon tea. My 1st visit and wasn't disappointed. Lovely friendly service. Afternoon tea was a variety of sandwiches, including, salmon, egg, etc on a variety of breads. cheese scones and jam scones and lavender shortbread. Also had prosecco blush and gin & tonics. Excellent value at £15. Would highly recommend. Also I purchased some sausage rolls to take away after reading several comments praising them on here, they were delicious!

Bean on the green is a hidden gem. The cakes are to die for but the homemade sausage rolls are the best I have ever eaten. Home made on the premises. Georgie and Mel are so friendly and welcoming. Might have to que but well worth it. My husband loves the bacon rolls on gluten free rolls.

We had an incredible experience at the Cross Keys. Mo and his team hosted my Father's funeral wake yesterday. The whole experience was incredible - made so special by Mo, Lucy, David and the girls. Nothing was too much trouble, and we felt completely wrapped up in their arms from the moment we walked through the door to make the arrangements, right through to the day itself. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a special celebration, which you planned so incredibly well. The delicious food platters were superb, and all the guests said what a beautiful venue it was. I was personally nurtured throughout the whole day, with Mo and Lucy checking in with me to make sure everything was perfect - and even David coming in on his day off to make sure my Dad's favourite music was being played. I can't thank them all enough from the bottom of my heart for all their kindness. We stayed in their family suite for the night. Our room was superb, with the biggest bed I've ever slept in, and beautiful views out onto the market square and the Conduit. I can thoroughly recommend a stay at the Cross Keys - the service is exceptional, the rooms amazing, and the breakfast was superb. We also had our evening meal in the restaurant, and it was exceptional. THANK YOU TO THE WHOLE TEAM AT THE CROSS KEYS - YOU ARE ALL AMAZING.

The venue is gorgeous, all the staff attentive, friendly, brilliant and went above and beyond, the food amazing and delicious ❤️🥳 Couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate with friends and family (it was so good, forgot to take many photoks)!! Would 100% recommend to anyone. You deserve all the recognition. Thank you x

We came with friends as we had all been gifted afternoon tea, and chose to visit this tearoom. We booked just over a week in advance. What a great choice! A great selection of beautifully fresh finger sandwiches, scones, cream and jam. and a selection of small cakes, which were so light. Absolutely scrumptious. We weren't rushed, so we could sit and enjoy our food. The folk working in the tearoom were very welcoming and we had a delightful afternoon. Thank you!
