Nice cafe. Friendly staff, good service. Simple menu and lovely food - the toasted parma and cheese bagel is delicious. Tasty coffee. Worth a visit.

Afraid the refurbishment has lost the ambience of a somewhat alternative watering hole. Tables and chairs a bit like a transport cafe. The coffee still good.

Visited on lunch the wait time is ridiculous several customers complaining about waiting, appreciate lunch times can be busy waited 30 minutes for a toastie had finished our coffee asked for take out as couldn’t wait any longer when the cook verbally attacked us shouting times from slips of paper possibly the rudest person in a customer service role, I have ever encountered, we left shocked that we had paid for a lunch and we were being attacked, if you have all day then you will be ok no apology the rudest people you could ever meet as the review below states! AVOID unless you want attacking on your lunch break

The usual fab coffee. Plus today I enjoyed a roast beef, cheese and jalapeño bagel with lettuce and a gherkin. Lightly toasted and utterly delicious. No pic sorry, it was too good to keep waiting.

10/10 for food and customer service. Could not fault the place and an excellent start to our trip to Chester. The world would be a better place with Bean and Cole in every town.

Amazing manager (owner?) who chatted with me about the guest espresso shot, so nice and friendly!! On the topic of the espresso, it was an absolutely perfectly pulled delicious shot. 11/10 highly recommend this place. Best coffee in Chester.

It is so easy to complain but here I am. My wife wants to stay with the chains but I like coffee so was delighted to see the menu and chose the pour over - I know it takes time and the best things come to those who wait but I waited. I went and sat down and watched my wife drink her tepid mocha. I ate my cinnamon thing (ok!) and waited. I went back to the counter to see the pour over sitting there having dripped. One of the other staff caught my eye and I explained that I was waiting for the pour over.... The member of staff who took my order was busy chatting/flirting with yet another staff member. He did something with the coffee and them went back to his previous occupation of chatting. Clearly more interested in that - I waited longer - then gave up...... Not a resident of Chester and won't be back

Had a cheese toastie with added ham. Stuffed full with cheese and tasted incredible. Will definitely come again.

What a super little cafe with an excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. My wife and I enjoyed our very first visit so much we went back the following day. The coffee, yoghurt & granola and sourdough toast were excellent.

These guys just know what they are doing and that's why they do it so well. Everything is just perfect, the decor, the service, the food and my god the coffee is to die for! Very popular cafe in the heart of Chester, we were greeted by a friendly waitress and asked to wait outside for our table as it is quite small inside. We were only waiting for about ten minutes before we were invited back in. We ordered the salmon on sourdough and although there was only one slice of toast, there was a generous amount of salmon on top. Will definitely be eating there again when next in Chester.

Peaceful, attentive and welcoming staff! We arrived to a full cafe and were welcomed by staff, invited to wait for a place. In other situations where getting a table can feel a bit like roulette, staff made every effort to communicate at every stage and we had a table cleaned and prepared within ten minutes. We ordered spicy avocado on sourdough and a Brie and prosciutto toastie. The staff were fantastic when we asked for an amendment to leave off sriracha and noted it on their system. The food was outstanding! It was clear that ingredients were very high quality - possibly the best smoked salmon I e ever had and the prosciutto was incredibly flavourful. Portions were generous and wait staff were attentive and pleasant. Price was good considering the focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients - they list a handful of artisan suppliers on the menu. The menu is refreshingly limited but this led to us feeling that they are proactively hitting where their strengths are. This was by far the best breakfast we had during our four-day city break. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Had a lovely breakfast of brie and prosciutto toastie and the best apple juice I have ever tasted. Will be going there regularly from now on.

Happy staff and delicious coffee. Light(ish) roast beans, slow pour, choice of beans. I was absolutely delighted to find this place. I didn't eat but the food looked good.

I live locally so have popped in here a few times to grab a flat white or iced matcha to go whilst walking and both are amazing! So finally came here for brunch on Saturday and wow, so so good! I had the glow toast (beetroot humous, avo, balsamic drizzle and a side of feta) this was so delicious, and my bf had the smoked salmon and cream cheese on toast with avo on the side and he loved his too. We then shared a Nutella cruffin which was honestly just unreal! Also the guy serving us was just the nicest guy ever, he was so so friendly and even though there is limited seating and it’s super popular we didn’t feel like we were getting rushed, and love that it’s doggo friendly! 10/10 all round

Very good coffee - I am from Australia where coffee is superb so it’s taken me a while to find somewhere that replicates the good stuff. Very reasonable price too. Soft jazz playing, the place has a lovely vibe so I will definitely be back.

I've been a customer at Bean & Cole for a few years and have always looked forward to my coffee and breakfast there when in Chester. Today I ordered an extra hot mocha, with sweetner and received a mocha, tepid at best. The almond croissant's consistency was best suited to heavy sour dough than light and flaky. The atmosphere which is always vibey and friendly was more funereal and soulless. Food in the cabinet had been mislabelled. So sad that such a lovely coffee shop doles out this experience to customers when the owners are not in store.

Have been a regular & always been happy with the service & food/drinks but what a difference today! Long wait to be served, no apology, no welcome, no smiles & coffee disappointing . Staff need to up their game.

Bean & Cole is my favourite "go-to" spot in Chester whether it be a solo trip, a lunch date with my husband, or a family breakfast out. The acai bowl is my absolute favourite, and never leaves me disappointed! Lovely staff and nice environment.

I rarely get lucky in terms of finding a good coffee shop when out of my town. Well, this one is a hidden gem that I fully recommend. Everything seem to me tastefully curated and I can only wish good luck them guys with their enterprise. Excellent

We had the salmon toast and spicy tuna toastie. Tasty, fresh ingredients. Nice coffee and good service. The playlist was perfect! We went during peak time on a Saturday and although it was full when we arrived, a table quickly became available.

Wonderful little cafe serving fab food and drinks & cakes & snacks too. Great friendly staff too. Just need to improve on the unisex Toilet . I've been going for awhile now & me & a few other customers next to me today have said the same that there's a unpleasant metallic, rusty smell in the bathroom. Its very pungent. It was a pleasure to drop in for lunch at Bean and Cole. It has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff who work as a great team. Despite it being busy, our meal arrived quickly. We loved the smoked salmon and cream cheese on toast and the toasted which were a more unusual take on those offered elsewhere. Will definitely go again when back in Chester.

Nice atmosphere, coffee was pretty decent however seating is quite uncomfortable.

I ordered a banana toast and filter coffee and my girlfriend ordered cappuccino and muffins. All of them were delicious and more than good for serve. I will come to enjoy the coffee and toast.

The service, food and drinks were spot on. Really enjoyed my visit here. My only feedback would be that there’s not too many tables so I saw a few people waiting for somewhere to sit - always a challenge when a place is popular!

Genuinely exceptional. Coffee was top quality and the barrister was knowledgeable! The food was sublime. Excellently ran and thought out venue, space is optimised well and decor is lovely, especially the green tile bar.

Stayed in Chester for 3 days and for the first two days breakfast I came here, I was craving their avocado toast on the third day but got dragged somewhere else. The avo toast is lovely I’m usually not keen on sliced avo I prefer smashed but this has converted me it was so creamy and the sourdough was stunning it was a 10/10 for me. Cafe is small but welcoming can just get a bit crowded at times but that was no problem for me. I loved it and would defo come again if I’m back in Chester

Called in for brunch today but I can't get into the shop as I am in a wheelchair. However, the staff came outside and took my order. Lovely cappuccino and absolutely delicious avocado on toast!! First class service. Went back to the owner to say Thank you. Life isn't always easy when you're in a wheelchair! I will be back!

For being 5 stars, it’s disappointing. Ambience and vibe were nice but the toasties we ordered were dripping in grease. Appears to be a healthy organic cafe but will leave you with heart burn.
